Davinells had a secret plan A weekend on Moreton Island in the still Chainsawless Pajero that required much consultation with the oracle that is Wayn0 With the promise of Glamping, the tides were read, charts & maps examined, and secret plans confirmed Coming across very early Saturday morning meant Venus was in alignment with Scorpio and we would experience all the joys of Moreton without having to float the car down the beach or at least thats what I heard but I wasnt party to all the secret planning, so Did I mention we got to Glamp!!!Ok, so I admit to a little creative accounting, but after the weekend, and a great weekend it was, this was the pinnacle for me First, there was the eye candy on the beach I almost missed fishing Davinells and the ever wayward Go Pro out of the water Then there was the chop, it was a little windy, which had me declare Im not getting my phone out (thank goodness I fished the Go Pro and Davinells out of the water earlier) Then there was a WHALE I wasnt beyond the wrecks and neither was the whale Im not sure how my Origami Kayak would withstand a whale strike, but I wasnt real keen to find out Which meant getting closer to the wrecks so close that I felt one of them through the cor flute of the kayakAfter battling the wind for about an hour, watching for that whale, and noticing the dive boat disgorging its cargo I returned to the beach, to once again be completely distracted by the eye candyThanks to events later in the day, this log was going to be very different, but thankfully that wayward Go Pro was located after a short amount of back trackingThanks Captain Terror Ive never been 30 metres from a whale before, and Im not sure I need to be againFind #12000
When I was headed to the island the other day I figured I probably wouldn't be able to find this virtual, however, meeting up here with Beardman, Davinells and Peppa this morning gave me the opportunity to go for a kayak to the wrecks. The sun was out, and so was the wind and choppy waters, making it a fun paddle and explore. We were lucky to get the wrecks to ourselves only minutes before crowds in clear kayaks, full snorkelling get-up, and jet-skis flocked around the wrecks. I reckon I would have taken a few out with my wreck-less driving if I was still out there with them all. I didn't have my phone on me to snap a photo so was lucky to have Davinells snap one for me before the swell nearly pushed us into a wreck just below the surface. Thanks also to Beardman75 for loaning me his kayak to compete this cache. Thanks for the virtual, info, and fun.
Spending the weekend on Moreton Island with Beardman75, Peppa, Now-Tomorrow and wayn0 running amuck and seeing what this beautiful island has to offer. We arrived off the ferry right before high tide so we couldnt go very far with the car. We met up with Wayn0 and NTM and headed out into the sea to explore the wrecks. Upon unpacking the kayaks we discovered Peppa only packed me half a paddle! Combine that with the very strong breeze, which tipped me out as I was trying to get into the yak, I could have made this a terrain 6! Being high tide we floated right over the top, and sometimes too close to the wrecks, which was a pretty impressive sight. Maybe just as impressive was the humpback whale we saw pop up about 20m from us! I tried to go after it to get a photo but my 1 paddled handicap didnt help. A beautiful spot to explore and a great way to kick off our Moreton Island adventure. Thanks for placing Captain TerrorFind #6559
We are on a mission to Moreton Island to get Peppa a milestone with an apparently "secret" plan involving Davinells, wayn0, NTM, and myself. This was our first stop after getting off the barge and meeting up with Wayn0 and NTM. The water is very choppy and the current strong. Thanks Captain Terror and happy caching
Are I had no access to a knack or boat I walked from the jetty to the GZ, then swam out to the wrecks and got some photos on my gopro. I cannot upload them till I get back home. This photo will suffice till next week. Here for the day off the cruise ship P&O Pacific Adventure. Greetings from the Blue Mountains NSW.
What a magnificent place. We are visiting here with our friends from America being taken all around by our friend Brenden and new friends from the Australia Dune Buggy Club. Now we are on a boat out by the ships with new friends from Brisbane. We love your beautiful country
In the last Moment i make Fotos. Puh.. i have some Videos when it is not enough. Sorry for my english. It is a very nice Place to snorkeling!
On a cruise to Tangalooma..... got serious and went in the water to claim this one.
Did an adventure day tour to Moreton Island, kajaking to the wrecks.Thx 4 showing this amazink place! gc-Mel &KF
What a cache adventureStating on Moreton Island and this one instantly became my birthday bucket list we opted for a snorkeling tour instead of hiring a tinny as planned, just sure to the swells and wind.. safety first! What a wreckcellent adventure. Fave point for sure from me! Thank you, CO.
I have had this cache on my target list for a while but didnt think I would be able to get there any time soon. That was until I was talking to a family member who had just replaced the engine in their yacht and needed to quickly put some hours on it before sailing north for the season. I was more than happy to provide the excuse and so we set out from Manly Harbour this morning and motored our way over to the wrecks. The weather was mostly kind to us with only a short shower on the return journey. I enjoyed reading all the information in the description as we putted along. As my car was in for repairs, my day started early with a two hour trip including a walk, a bus ride, a train ride and another walk to get to the harbour. All up it took us just under six hours to motor over to Tangalooma and back again so altogether I was travelling for 10 hours just to get this cache and get home again. And it was all worth it as it completed my 17th DT loop and marked my 10,000 find. Thanks for placing this here Captain Terror
I swam out and around the wrecks yesterday. Sadly couldn't take a selfie as my phone isn't waterproof. The current was scarily strong. I entered the water north of the wrecks and ended up coming in through the ferry channel (not recommended).
Thanks Captain for sorting out Qlds weather so we could see the best that Moreton Island has to offer.Snorkelling cruise was a highlight of the day, saw a turtle and a wobble gong along with so many beautiful reef fish. TFTC and adventure.
Sitting here looking at the cache from a cruise ship. Unfortunately the tenders are not operating due to the wind. Bit gutted as I was looking forward to geocaching on the island. Greetings from Christchurch.
Avoiding the crowds today we decided to hire a boat to do some snorkeling around the wrecks, what an amazing place. And an amazing amount of fish to see. Thanks for placing this cache.
Didnt have a way to take pictures after we put on our wetsuits. Such a great experience sea scooter tour
Visited Tangalooma as a part of a Carnival Cruise and forgot to log it! We took the Glass Bottom Boat tour and were able to feed the fish that live amongst the safety the wrecks provide. On our way to the wrecks, we were lucky to spot a dolphin too!
At Tangalooma for a conference and not a lot of spare time. Decided to take the wrecks tour so I could get this virtual. The fish feeding was pretty cool too. Thanks for getting me out and about Captain Terror
We are nearing the end of our epic Queensland coastal sailing trip from Moreton bay to Lizard Island and back over 7.5 months. This will be our last chance for some snorkelling before we get the boat hauled out at the Gold Coast in a couple of days. We anchored our catamaran, Montage, in between the wrecks & the beach for the day & then I noticed this handy virtual right here! We went over in the dinghy to check out the wrecks before our snorkel & took some photos. It was great to read all the info about the ships that were scuttled here. It was hard to figure out which was which though when you are in amongst them.We had a great snorkel until the barge came in and stirred up all the sand on the northern end & then we got entangled with some snorkel tours & had a hard time finding our way back to the dinghy we anchored on the sandbank on the western side.Heaps of interesting fishes - it was a great spot for the last days of our sailing holiday. Favourite Point for the detailed information & excellent location.3675 @ 1130hTFTC Captain Terror
While staying at Tangalooma we did a sunset cruise around the ship wrecks. Such a beautiful place
Had an amazing day snorkeling today! Geocaching here was even a better surprise. Thanks for the experience and wonderful information.
Heute mit Mümmelmasse zur Insel. Obwohl die Sicht teilweise getrübt war, hat sich das Schnorcheln dennoch sehr gelohnt! Vielen Dank für diesen tollen Cache!
Done!!! Had been planning to go here with my mom and grabbed it on the way.
Love all the details in the description. Thanks alt for the work. TFTC

My family was on a cruise to Morton Island and while we were there I wanted to do this cache. All the kayaks were booked out online via the cruise website , so I didn’t think I would be able to get out to the wrecks. My family walked along the beach and I was so happy to find a hire place on shore right near the wrecks which had clear plastic kayaks. So my daughter and I went out in one. It was truly amazing my favourite part of the whole cruise. The sunken ships were awesome and the fish below were truly incredible, the colours of the fish were so beautiful. I can not thank you enough for creating this great virtual to give me the reason to go out and visits the wrecks . Thanks for the cache Captain Terror def fav point
Yesterday at the Tangalooma wrecks.
It was amazing!
We saw after the snorkeling tour about the cache, so we didn't take a special picture. But you'll see, we were at the wrecks.

23/06/2023 - 11:08Visiting Moreton with family and fellow cacher my dad dixie_gooner. One of my step mums request was a glass bottom boat ride - sadly the glass bottomed one wasnt running but the regular boat did take us out past the wrecks at least!marcussjd9#183TFTC
I visited fraser island today with friends and family. After a bit of a tour, taking a few of the traditional caches in we boarded a boat for a trip around the the wrecks

I’m on Moreton this weekend doing an underwater cleanup of Curtin Artificial Reef. Our first scuba dive we collected a 10 litre bucket full of fishing line, sinkers, and other rubbish from underneath the ocean. After our first dive, we travelled down to Tangalooma so that I could take this pic. Then back to Bulwer for organisation and accommodation.
Tomorrow we’re doing three clean up dives, and Sunday three more cleanup dives. Hopefully we’ll clean up heaps of underwater rubbish. The visibility was about 10 meters, water temp 21 degrees. Looking forward to a great weekend of scuba diving.

Recently my kayaking adventures group held an event over at Tangalooma (ironically going over on the ferry!) and so I took the opportunity to grab this new virtual. I joined a snorkelling tour through the resort and bought myself a disposable waterproof camera from the gift shop. It was a pretty choppy day so the underwater visibility was pretty low unfortunately but it was still great fun. I finally got the film developed and managed to get about half of the shots off the roll. Enough to qualify for logging I thought this location was a perfect use of the CO's virtual credit, given the Wreck series, and I look forward to doing more of them. Thanks for the very informative cache description Captain, it certainly enhanced the experience. A FP because I love being in the water
We have stayed at the Tangalooma Resort for the last few days and visited the wrecks several times. First we went on a snorkel tour (phones weren’t allowed), Yesterday we kayaked around them (again no phone present) Today we walked up the beach and went for a swim around the wrecks) Thanks for the history of the scuttled boats. A great place to visit from Melbourne. This photo is me about to dive in with the Flukey family swimming to GZ.
Found this virtual cache today with the Flukey Family as we swam around the wrecks with our goggles.
We did do a snorkel tour earlier this week, but I have to say it was potentially even cooler to do it without snorkels, wetsuit or fins because we could dive down and swim with the fish and see more of the wrecks. We explored all of the wrecks and Flukey71 and I even saw a shark at the end of our swim around wreck #1-2 (a wobbegong shark we think).
Sad to leave Moreton Island tomorrow but this has been my favourite thing so far and the cache is so unique so it is a favourite from me!
This is a photo of Flukey71, Flukeydan and I as we started our exploration, with photo credits to Flukeywife .

Thanks for the interesting history's on the ships. Camping on Morton and our friends picked us up for a day trip down to the wrecks. The colours of the fish are amazing . I was able to read the histories to them over our picnic lunch. Delightful day . Embossing the app is uploading my photo upside-down
We were here for the day as we stopped on our cruise on the Island Princess. We spent time at the wrecks but did not have a case for our phones to protect them from the water. My husband took a picture of me by the wrecks waving at the camera. Hope this works for you. Attached a few other shots so you can verify that it is me waving. We loved our day here and really enjoyed seeing the wrecks. Thanks for this cache at this wonderful spot. Gets a favorite point from me. TFTSmiley
Snorkelled some of the wrecks in the pouring rain back in 2015. Will have to make it back here one day!
What an incredible experience swimming between and over the top of these wrecks! So much amazing sea life (and seeing the brave scuba divers underneath, haha). Excited to log this as a virtual! TFTC! ️️
Was here a few years back but didnt check out the wrecks - now I have a reason to return!
We come over in the boat a million times each summer to snorkel and fish! I always thought there needed to be more caches here. I was very excited when I opened the app on the way over this morning and spotted the virtual.
Todays adventure included my muggle husband, father in law and a friend of mine. Perfect weather conditions meant the place is packed! Great people watching as we ate our snacks in the sun. Jumped in to snorkel

So, for over two decades I’ve been saying how I should get a kayak. I finally got one. I’m a little late to the kayak party but better late than never haha. I was spending a few days on Moreton Island to research some off-track hiking locations that are on my list. With that all done it was time to do other things. One of those things was to get me and the kayak out to these wrecks! It was great to be out there with perfect weather. Being a weekday it wasn’t too busy either. Later that day a curious dugong swam up to the kayak and rubbed up against it then breached right beside me! That was one of many ‘firsts’ for me on this trip. Fav point coming soon. Thanks for the Cache
With no waterproof camera on me, I had to come out on the tour guides
Thanks to a local tour operator my young boys (6 and 9) and I were able to swim through the 15 wrecks where we saw turtles; wobbegongs; an array of colourful fish and coral. Beautiful! We feel lucky to have this experienced this special place with the locals expertly guiding us.
What a wonderful site! We spend a really great day on Moreton Island and enjoyed the location a lot.
Oh buoy what are you waiting for? I wreckon you should get out to Tangalooma today!
