Logs

The ships log was found further down the beach.Feeling heavy with fever, I lay down for just a minute, the sun beaming down to provide enough warmth to comfort me Alas, was it now hours later, the sun had long gone, I don't know where I am, nor where I'm heading too. The beloved girl has taken on so much water, and I in my hammock fast asleep was unaware.Where is my mate, my stores my everything.Alas, this could possibly be my last log. To whom ever finds this I wish you well, better than that, many many smiley faces.Captain.

Unfortunately, Mrs Unssys finally caught COVID, so the planned time with friends became isolated day trips, in the fresh air caching, once energetic enough. We decided to hit interesting caches rather than trails. So we walked and took in the scenery and fresh air. Perfect weather. Thanks for this cavhe

I visited this Virtual cache on a solo visit to the Yorke Peninsula to find a few caches of interest. It was fantastic Spring weather and I ended up as far south as Ines National Park before working my way back up to Moonta to attend the dinner event and camp nearby overnight. All of the caches were found without any difficulty and were in good order.I recall when this vessel came aground. There was a bit of a kerfuffle about whose jurisdiction it fell within and what should be done to have it removed. Looks like duck-shoving, a lack of anyone taking responsibility and general apathy won out in the end! Thanks Mattycat for the Virtual cache.

We are on a caravanning trip around Australia and are staying the night at Stenhorse campground and decided to go for a bit of an explore. We walked through the dunes and along to this wreck, it is always fascinating trying to figure out what happened. There were a few March flys in attack mode at this boat. Unfortunately I couldn't wrangle them into helping me refloat the vessel or even stand it upright and wait for the tide to come in.Thanks for the virtual

Cool to re-visit, tge boat has degraded massively!Made the smart move by coming at low tide. There is little to no sand around it atm, unlike in pics posted in April. I had to stand on the metal (under sand in April pic) to see in the hatch....Answers sent.Cheers

I'm in SA for the leap day Mega, some caching and a restful 5 day holiday. Let's see how that rest goes in the middle of so much new caching grounds!!! Today is day 3 and my bottom of Yorke Peninsula day. Lovely weather in the low 20's, cool and sunny makes for perfect exploring weather. So many old caches, and caches with great appeal to guide me around to see the area.I've been finding things challenging lately with frustrating ongoing symptoms from an MVA, so although I was keen to get here, I didn't know if I was physically capable. Today I've been okay, thankfully, so I gave it a go and was pleased to make it! It's rather a cool sight to see and pleased I could.

Found after a wander through the dunes and along the beach. Pretty wild and isolated on this stretch but the ship was interesting. Pic of me trapped in the boat. Tftc

Headed along the beach today and found an old wreck. After a bit of an explore we found the answers to the required questions and took some photos. Thanks for bringing us to another part of South Australia that we wouldn't have visited otherwise. tftc#7606

Away for a few days to try and clean out Yorke Peninsula. I stayed in Moonta and went in all directions.

Today was was a short drive down to Innes NP. Luckily an early start made for an early arrival and I then set about the 3 caches in the park. All involved a bit of a walk which was good to stretch the legs.

All answers have been sent and confirmed by the cache owners where applicable.

Goldy and Jimmy were here again today! Still love the cache!

Today was the day for a trip to Marion Bay and Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park to clear a small cluster of caches from the map. I walked in from the Casuarina Campground at Pondalowie Bay and along the beach to make the observations on the old wreck. After poking my head into the hull I looked up to see a large black Tiger snake staring me right in the face, flicking its tongue at me at head height from less than a metre away. I took a series of photos of it as it slowly moved around the deck, coiling around one of the vents, before heading up the sloping deck into a hole. Couldn't help but to give it a pat on the back as it disappeared from sight, the snake flinching slightly to the touch. The irony of an encounter with a 'tiger' snake (being partly feline) on a Mattycat cache was not lost, as I headed through the sandhills back to the car. Thanks for the eventful Virtual cache Mattycat!

**FTF at 4:03PM with Geo4Jimmy**

Goldy and Jimmy took a drive down to Innes National Park to get FTF on the new virtual and find a few other caches near our accommodation in Point Turton.

It was good to revisit the area and see some more sights around the National Park and indulge in a parmy at the Marion Bay pub.

The place that never gets old, the gift that keeps on giving. *Insert other cliché sayings here*

We only ended up with two cache finds today, the virtual and a mystery puzzle in Point Turton. We were exhausted so we left it at that but a good day nonetheless.

Now to the FTF:

I was at Coobowie for a day trip with allister w when sir_spectre told me there was a new virtual. I didn't think I'd be back going for FTF just over 2 weeks later.

We set off from home at 11AM and stopped Port Wakefield for lunch, Minlaton for a snack and finally made our way to Pondalowie Bay.

We found a place to park and walked through the soft sand to GZ to find an empty beach except for a few people taking advantage of the nice weather and the brilliant surf available here.

We had printed the answers out to be able to access them with the limited service here. Jimmy got one bar of 3G and I had nothing. Thanks Vodafone.

The answers were gathered and sent, officially giving us the FTF. We also took a few photos of our time at GZ.

This was a nice change from the shipwrecks from the 1900s along here. Cool to see and get up close.

It was an awesome day, absolutely knackered at the end. Still watched I, Robot before bed though.

Thanks Mattycat for this virtual cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 2457 on the 6th of February 2023.

A favourite point allocated!
