Stopped for coffee on our way through mooroopna and had to grab this nearby cache
8 October 2024 10:27amStaying in Echuca for a couple of days but calling in to Shepparton for a look around today. Coloured cows were pretty cool too! TFTC
I was passing through Mooroopna ages ago and dropped by to see this virtual. It was interesting to read the history of Jacks daredevil riding
We knew about Jack competing in world championship - he had a kangaroo on his helmet just like on this statue
Thanks for the cache, recently found during an overnight caching trip in the Shepparton area.
Found by caughtatwork on 23/08/2024 at 4:41:00 PMA nice find on a weekend of geocaching in and around the Shepperton area.Took nothing, left nothing. Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would be nothing around for those who like to find geocaches.*Overall Experience: 3*GAFF1
Rated: for Overall Experience
Geoturtle37 and I stayed on at Tatura after the last Cache Crawl event in Seymour yesterday. Today we were able to do some slower caching. Thanks for bringing us here with this cache. (Please see GT37's log for the photo.)
Thankfully the pace today is somewhat slower which is interesting as there was no need to be in a hurry for the two days of the Cache Crawl. We are staying out at Tatura for a couple of days so ventured into Shep as there as so many new caches since we last visited. Thanks for bringing us here with this virtual cache.
After satiating our appetites at the nearby KFC, we met up with jascat at this cache. Enjoyed admiring the bovine beasts in the area as well.
Happy to add another virtual to our tally! The painted cows were more my style but I was interested to read about this guy...
*18 Aug 2024, Found @1:13PM, Find # 3885.*Another virtual to add to my total while touring around Victoria for the cache crawl weekend. I loved reading the story behind this one. I thought the painted cows were pretty cool too. **Thanks to locus cache for placing this cache.**
**Found with GoodLook and the Dame** Found whilst visiting Shepparton for a birthday event. The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual COs, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals dont know about. I, like most cachers, look for more that a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most COs take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less traveled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own. The weather was glorious, the coffee shops pleasant and the company wonderful. Thank you locus cache for highlighting this area and for providing this game piece for our enjoyment. Appreciate your efforts. - P**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Thanks for the Virtual **#83**Cache on! **#18872**
Out and about with omegaman, Happy feet and Happy Pants, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles. This is one of the caches found today. Thanks locus cache for the cache.

Found this cache whilst on our two month adventure throughout central Australia and remote parts of WA.The plaque made for an interesting read. Grabbed a pic and then onto our next find. Thanks to all the COs for adding to our adventure. TFTC
Found by The Empire + HBack on the road, we continued north to Shepparton, another hour away. The drive took us through lush farmland, with fields of crops and grazing livestock creating a picturesque rural landscape. Shepparton, known for its agriculture and dairy industries, welcomed us with its vibrant, bustling town center. With Shepparton behind us, we embarked on the final leg of our journey to Echuca, about an hour's drive away. The road meandered through more farmland, with the landscape gradually giving way to the lush riverine environment near the Murray River. The oval, surrounded by open fields and tall gum trees, provided a perfect spot for a brief stop. Thanks for the cool virtual locus cache.-MVirtual #250!
Day 11 of my interstate trip. Today I left Greens Lake Reserve near Stanhope and made my way a bit closer to Sydney spending the night in Everton. I managed to find 16 caches today and only 1 DNF.A cool Monument and couldn't think of a better virtual to be owned by you.TFTC locus cache
Quick find with the kids on the iPhone, here for the softball tournament again , our 3rd yr in a row!Heres to many more Tftc Cheers
Staying at a motel across the road we needed to do a cache in Mooroopna so we decided to sneak across the road at 11pm at night to get a pic before we headed off back home tomorrow. We actually walked straight past this statue when we went shopping at Woolies not realizing that there was a Virtual here. Mr ILT was right at home being on the bike as he used to ride bikes in his younger years. TFTC.
A wise move that change of name I've enjoyed meeting Jack, thanks locus cache
I came here after the lunch event in Tatura today.Reading the description, I discovered a small link to Jack's story. I noticed that he worked with the speedway rider John Board, as a mechanic. When I was riding speedway, John Board did some work for me. It brought back some good memories. Thanks for this virtual cache, locus cache.
A plan was hatched to go to my first Central Victorian geocaching event so we headed off with Snips and Co for a one day road trip from the south of Melbourne up to Tatura. After a lovely lunch event we started on our way back to Melbourne via a couple of virtuals and a couple of cache award nominees as well.I liked this one and especially all the colorful cows surrounding it.Thanks locus cache for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
Traveled up through Shepparton to Tatura for the event tomorrow and collected a few caches on the way.I knew the story of Jack, but I hadn't stopped off at this sculpture before. Thanks, Robmc.
This was one of the caches that I found today. I was travelling south to visit my sister near Guildford. A good quick find in amongst the mooooving art. TFTV locus cache
This is not one of my subjects of interest, but The_Evil_Muggle talks incessantly about his days riding motorcycles! Despite mentioning what this Virtual cache was about he still didnt get out of the car to look at it! Its certainly different to other sculptures Ive seen and an interesting story. Thanks for this Virtual LocusCache!
So Jack (we won't call him Cyril) was a champion motorbike racer. He achieved much from an early age and had a notable career. Thanks for showing us this sculpture with the history info as well and TFTC.
It was raining a bit this morning when we arrived here with ilook4geo. Took some photos and hurried back to the car. Thanks for bringing us here to learn about Jack and his racing career.
Canberra GeoBash DashDay Two: Barham to Corowa via SheppartonWeather: Perfect! Smokey in NE Victoria. As usual, whenever there is a Virtual that needs a selfie, I havent shaved and Im wearing daggy clothes. I hadnt heard of Cyril, so thanks for the education locus cache. I liked the cows on the median too. Thanks for a fun Virtual locus cache, hope to spot you in Canberra!
Tatura staying in the RV camp area,Day 2We decided to do a day trip to Shepparton to find a few caches there. We were so glad that we went on a Sunday as it is hard navigating you way around a unfamiliar townThis was a great way to visit the area,Thanks locus cache for hiding this cache.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. In Shepparton for a few days as we wend our way towards Canberra for the GeoBashTFTC locus cache [^]
Passing through the long way to Melb to visit son with geopup on board. A quick stretch of the legs with my name badge placed on Jack's wrist.TF the Virtual locus cache. ??
Thanks locus cache for providing a virtual so close to home. Much needed today for the 29th souvenir.Great to catch up with you and Rex today.
Dont know how many times Ive driven through Mooroopna without noticing this tribute to Jack. Thanks for bringing him to the notice of the Geocaching community locus cache
Travelling in a nice comfy 4wd, not a bike, with Jack and Purrfect Di. Posed. Took photos... Had to get this one for our friend the CO Stayed the night in town as we blew a headlight But we had to head straight off again. Must come back with more time! Thank you locus cache for the virtual cache And we'll give it a Fav 'cos it was a bit of fun and there wasn't a mint tin in sight ! ---------------- ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid lumps falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of --------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! PS:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GCA1DNA - Great Leap Forward ... or is it backward... it takes an extra day to get to March 29.2.24 The Mega Leap Event of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And don't forget to put the June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... fun and funky finds
668th find for me! Lovely stroll with geo kid & checked out all the Mooooving Art which we love to do! Geo kid likes these nice quick ones! TFTC!
Find#6122Nice hiding place What a epic road trip exploring Australia Thanks for the cache
Another cool virtual found on the loop-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Found on a quick trip around Victoria to mop up all of the counties I was missing. Had my new swag so stayed in caravan parks so I could sleep while the car charged. Was at almost 100% charge every morning, and the nights camping cost about the same as a full charge at a supercharger anyway.
The three of us were heading to Wang, and stopped by here to find this new virtual. I've been past many times before and never noticed it before! Thanks for the virtual cache Locus.
10:08Making our way homeward after a fabulous week of caching around the North East. A few stops on the way always make the trip more interesting! A very interesting reflection on Cyril's life. Thanks to locus cache for hiding caches in interesting locations. 36220
Nice virtual on the way into town. TT is insane. A great memorial to great guy.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Our road trip continues, Adelaide to Mooroopna. It really is an adventure, with LB, locus cache & Rex, me and GeoCleo. Finally, we made it, dinner at The Royal Mail. Destination reached, let the fun continue. While taking the dog for a walk before calling it a day, I snuck this Virtual in while everyone else was saying their hellos/goodbyes.Then I revisited it with LB.TFTV (and adventure) locus cacheKeep smiling
After the week in Bright it was time to head home to Melbourne... via a longer than normal route so I could find caches in the Greater Shepparton and Campaspe LGAs... the things you do when you get bitten by the "challenges bug"... Now in the Greater Shepparton LGA, it was time to get serious as I wanted at least 13 Finds before leaving... I had managed 9 Finds before lunch so it was now time to start heading towards Campaspe LGA... and finding a few extra caches before getting there. A fascinating Virtual... with this statue looking a little out of place with all the other brightly coloured ones nearby. Thanks **locus cache** for highlighting this piece of local history.
Day 27. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my by way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip. After a very late night stop just outside of Swan Hill it was off to Longwood today for a few days of camping with friends before finally returning home. A few key stops though along the way in Swan Hill, Echuca and Shepparton. What an interesting story although a sad ending. Thanks locus cache for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------The 12 Days of Cachemas series is now live. Thank you so much for bringing me here. It's such a wonderful story. Gooooo Cyril or Jack
What a really great story about Jack's career, what a legend Thanks so much for bringing me here to read about this great man
Day 1 of Chook and OzHockeyChick's "QOGM-consolation" roadtrip, targeting caches in three states over four days of fun, friendship, laughter and adventure. A quick stop here to learn about Jack and all his achievements. Thank you for this Virtual Cache locus_cache.
With a huge portion of the Victorian caching community enjoying their pilgrimage north to Longreach, chook(nchunk) and I decided to plan our own little mini-adventure, targetting adlabs, solved puzzles, faves, TDOCs and anything else that piques our interest along the way. Day One: Seymour, Nagambie, Shepparton, Echuca, Deniliquin. A quick stop here to introduce ourselves to Cyril, and go for a quick ride. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Cybergran V ~~
Thank you for the information about this interesting character. without this cache I would not have seen this monument / memorial.
We are heading up to the Shepparton Marathon and taking the long way via Echuca. The plan is to get 20 geocaches in the Campaspe and Moira LGAs and at least 1 cache in whatever NSW LGA Moama is in. Then get at least 4 caches in the Shepparton LGA. Not sure it will happen with our tight schedule, but will see how it goes.
Only got 16 geocaches in Moira LGA yesterday, so todays plan has changed. After doing photography duties at the start of the Marathon, it's time to head North and collect a few geocaches, hopefully in time for the end of the race.
With enough time still in hand, I came towards this nice Virtual Cache. Could see the runners still on the course running on the road bridge over the Goulburn River.
Thanks for the cache locus cache

Another visit to Shepparton to catch up with my mother. Grabbed this one on my way home after dark.

A quick drive by here, which seems appropriate considering the character and speed of the subject. Also, i really enjoyed checking out this pretty cool sculpture, thanks for showing me.
The Trip.
A muggle friend was visiting Shepparton today to see a man about a dog, literally! They asked if i would like to come along for morale support and to share the drive, i jumped at the chance so long as i could find a few caches along the way. With that sorted i set about creating a short list of caches from the many available. I came up with thirteen which helped me achieve various goals and was about as many as i could reasonably expect my friend to tolerate before getting bored.

On a visit to Shepparton today, I headed over to Mooroopna to pay a visit to this cache. Such a great story and the statue looks great. Snapped a quick photo before it was time to move on.

‘ Cyril’, sorry ‘Jack’ had his work cut out dodging all those strange coloured cows in Mooroopna on a sunny, Sunday afternoon! We managed to catch him as he rested from his endeavours at 12.49pm, on our way home from a weekend in Bendigo. Well ridden Jack. #10,023 TFTVIRTUAL locus cache
This is quite an interesting story and now immortalised on the Moroopna streets.
I recently caught up with Cyril and awarded him a favourite point for his efforts.

I was on the trail of vanilla slices and iced donuts but due to the KB holiday, I was thwarted at both those tasks. At least the latter attempt brought me near enough to have a shot at this virtual.
Once at GZ, I was able to talk Jack into balancing 2upoj on his gear changing arm and therefore soon had the required shot at 11:50.
Thanks locus cache.

Heading to a night in Shepp with LittleBoss2. After aborting the caches in the forest, we decided to grab some dry ones and let our feet warm up again. Thanks Kaye, so appropriate that your virtual includes a motorbike. Fave added
Not sure why it is upside down. I wasn't standing on my head.

Found Jack cruising in the main street. Interesting story about his passion. Thanks locus cache for bringing us here.
Happy StarWars Day.
May the 4th be with you.
We took it in turns taking a ride with Jack.
In fading light, catnap777 and I had a ball at GZ trying to find the best pics of our silly selves showcasing this great piece of artwork depicting the great man himself aboard his Isle of Man-winning Suzuki TR500.
A great little virtual that took all our willpower to save for a day on the calendar that we really needed one.

dalerious and I were itching to take our happy snaps at this iconic site.
We were so glad you placed a virtual here locus cache, as it is a worthy monument to a super bloke .
It is fitting that this bronze will now see more visitors, and that is why I personally fell in love with geocaching. Caching shows you sites in a town or area that you may normally miss, or drive by not realising it's significance or history .
A favourite point from me .

This was a very interesting story which I'd not known prior to reading this cache page. He certainly sounds like an interesting character. Its amazing what some people were able to achieve before the 'nanny state' came along and spoiled everyones' fun. Thanks for bringing me here.

Hi Jack.
The time has come for us to head for home.
Christine, Eve, and I have had a wonderful break in the area. We found many different cache types and attended some superb events. It was great to catch up with you and Rex on a few occasions, too.
We decided to come this way and then on through Tatura and Murchison.

This town sure.hand some interesting art , I can't say it Moooved me but it was fun to look at. So was this virtual.
A long time between visits to Shep but we are back to attend 2 events today and enjoy the local caches.
Knowing the CO loves motorbikes we were not surprised to find she had used her virtual wisely here at this bronze statue of Jack and his Suzuki. Mr Triton loves his bikes also but he wisely traded his in for a 4WD which is much more practical for geocaching!
Photo taken for the log after admiring the artwork.

Beautiful autumn Friday afternoon on our way to Bendigo, do a quick stop to complete the cache.
The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]
Today started off wet when we left Wangaratta heading in a round about way to Bendigo finding caches in a different LGA and others that we had targeted, but thankfully the rain stopped around lunch time which was good.
We spent a bit of time caching around Shepparton as we wanted to find at least 20 caches in this LGA.
Thanks for the cache locus cache.
