With some annual leave, the geokids in school, and @Crzymelly off on work training, with magnificent weather, Trads, Multis, Mysteries and Virtuals at my beck and call, what more could one do but go Geocaching in our great city of Sydney.Having previously solved the puzzle, a quick detour was made to GZ, and a likely location was spotted, however either the cache deceived me, or the cache is missing (not sure which), I did not make this find today.
A few finds somewhere far from my usual haunts. Keeping my score a bit high while one has the opportunity to do so . Nice to see a varied end to this Letterbox Hybrid hide, something to differentiate. TFTC AussiePam on a breezy evening.
12. november 2024 17.23# 4907First time 'down under' and obviously we should try to find some cachesOur fist letterbox Geogreetings from DenmarkViridis / Peter & Charlotte TFTC
TFTC from the Kayakviking! Did the sums a while ago. Very busy in area today with markets and jacarandas. All good though not sure i would sit on GZ.Cheers KV
We did the multi a while back and got a good result, however it had to wait for our return to do a maintenance run on one of our caches in the area. A quick find but had to wait out muggles photographing the Jacaranda trees in the area. TFTC AussiePam.
After collecting the numbers, and getting the green light off the checker, we made our way to GZ. A good look around at GZ but we couldn't spot the cache. It may still be there and we just missed it, or it could be missing. Who knows? Oh well, on to the next one.
I had to come to the city today to collect my new passport, so figured I'd make a day of it and stop for a few caches on my train trip back to the Central Coast.I'd previously checked out the waypoints for this multi but the checker hadn't like my answer. So back I came today and saw my mistake at the first waypoint I checked ... it helps to read directions carefully! With corrected coords now in hand, I then made my way to GZ for a straightforward find. Thanks for creating this fun multi AussiePam ... I enjoyed the challenge even though I made a mess of things to start with.
Greetings from Wales Today the weather was poor so we headed to The Rocks for the Saturday Market and then went on to Taronga Zoo which was amazing. I even snuck in a couple of caches.Letterbox hybrid caches are my favourite stemming from letterbox hunting the original way on Dartmoor close to where I grew up in South West England so I had to get one in Australia. The cache was fun and fairly easy to follow with the final found OK. Thanks for this fun cache so have a fave point.
Because of Council works one of the waypoints is currently unavailable, so I have provided the answer.
I had figured out the coordinates after a previous trip to Milsons Point but had to rush off and didn't have time to get to GZ. The previous trip had been a nice stroll about Milsons Point and Kirribilli, although with a bit of a hiccup as the Burton St pedestrian area was closed as it was under conversion to a permanent plaza. After a bit of trial and error I had gotten the tick from the checker and so today I journeyed to GZ which was devoid of muggle-walkers but was very close to the fronts of some houses. Indeed, one muggle exited the house directly in front of GZ but thankfully he was more interested in getting into his car. The cache itself was in poor condition and filled with water and rust, even inside the ziplock bag. Therefore, the log was not signed and a photo log was taken instead.
A lovely cloudy day in Sydney. Today a little shopping and a few caches here and there. Greetings from Finland Thank you for this cache and for help
Today raija485 and I did a lot of sight-seeing and at the same time, of course, we did geocaching. We found several caches during the day and this was one of them.Careless reading first. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Finland!
Visiting Sydney from Canada, by way of New Zealand, and of course, out to get some caches as well. Nice one. TFTC
Found with Blue Jay while on our stay in Sydney before heading to New Zealand. TFTC. Toffee Man.
Greetings from Ireland Nice stroll after walking the bridge. Cache very wet needs checking. Thanks for showing us this place, & for placing and maintaining this cache. The is our playground
This was a fun tour after climbing and walking on the bridge. We are here for a few days before our cruise to New Zealand. Thank you for this letterbox.
A nice walk around this area to collect the data then a quiet walk to GZ to find the cache. TFTC AussiePam
Spending the Australia Day long weekend in the city. We decided to do a spot of caching before the festivities start. An early morning walk around the northern harbour foreshore was very fruitful. This had been a WIP since our arrival, today as I was in the area we picked up the hunt of coffee brewing and were soon at GZ.Spotted the cache quickly.TFTC
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . We spent some days here in Barangaroo, Sydney, before heading farther south to NZ. Some days ago, we were close to GZ, so we decided to start this letterbox. Once started, we wanted to finish it and walked all stages to find the answers. Unfortunately, all the shops were already closed, so we couldn't try .... At the end, we made one mistake, but finally we got a green "go" from the checker - yippie yeay!! My first letterbox in Australia! We found the cache right away and signed the logbook! Many thanks to AussiePam for leading us here and showing this place, working out this letterbox and of course also for caring about this cache here on site!Best wishes from Germany from Cuxine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ________________oooooooo____________oooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooo________oooooooooooooooooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo____oooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo___ooo__ooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo__oooo____oo________oooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo_oooo_______oooooooooooooooooo________ooooo___ooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oo_ooo____oooooooooooooooooooooooooo_____oooooooo__ooo_oooooo__________oo___oooo_______ooo__ooo_ooo______oooo__ooo_______oooo___ooo__ooo___ooooo___ooo_____ooo___ooo____oo____ooo____oooooo__ooo____ooooooo____________ooo_____ooooo____ooo
Got there. One question was a bit tricky and care needed when solving. Log is wet.
Found Al lot of chocolate on the way Had a mistake with the coordinates, but at least we found it. Tftc
Goodness this took a while. I thought I had made sure I read everything really well, but not as well as I should. I messaged the owner who responded quickly but it didnt ping through until I had sussed my mistake. Glad I persevered. Thank you for setting and maintaining this letterbox fav point added
On a 10-days tourist trip in Australia. Before the trip home, we stopped for a few days in Sydney. Thanks for the cache. Greetings from Finland!
holymoly i better log this one quicksmart. reading the logs now and seeing it's been replaced a few times. well it was all good here, i found the cache, and there was even a coffee bean. but no stamp.mebe just ducttape it to it? i didn't have a stamp handy, otherwise i probably woulda.. after all, a letterbox cache without a stamp, is just a traditional... or in this case, multi.a fun multi, i enjoyed galivanting around new territory. i would a loved a little more context or info on the whats or wheres. chocolatier or water board building but anywho.. it led me down pretty streets with aromatic scents and for that i am grateful,. thank you.
Found, with shaneo58. We came down from Newcastle on the train, We came back to this one as the cache was missing last time, possibly due to the bush turkeys around this location.Signed log and Cache replaced as found.**Thanks For The Cache** AussiePam.This makes the 7th cache of 8 for today making a grand total of 4272 at 12:06PM on this Thursday the 2nd of November in the Year 2023
Had collected all the info to get the proper coords to get this cache but came up empty. I contacted the CO and confirmed we were at the right spot. Thx to the CO for replacing the cache so quickly. TFTC AussiePam A fav for the experience.
DNF for this one, trying to do some caches around North Sydney, came down from Newcastle on the train We looked at all the likely spots you would/could hide a cache around near GZ, also looked at previous logs for any hints. And consulted a previous finder, to confirm we were looking in the correct place, . AussiePam. Attempted to find this at 10:02AM on this Thursday the 19th of October in the year 2023
Greetings from Ireland - this is a generic log for now until I return home / have WiFi - I want to log all finds now so I don't forget them.
FPs will be awarded at the time of this log (where applicable) so I don't forget.
Initially I couldn't get a green light from the checker so I reached out to the CO who told me which number I had wrong, I then returned and corrected my mistake.
At gz I found the cache fairly quickly. Tftc! FP!

Day 2: Lane Cove and North Sydney
Today’s plan was to strike north of the Harbour for two main reasons: to get the Lane Cove Virtual and to find a Letterbox cache in Sydney. The weather was lovely today, and despite walking almost 25k steps, it really didn’t feel like it, and I return to the city a really happy cacher
(End of the cut and paste section)
And at last, the letterbox I need! This was a nice and fairly easy one, though I was sidetracked by a tricky letter for a while because I didn’t read the clue properly… oh well. The cache was a more straightforward find, but I had the wrong idea initially, so had to poke there first, before reverting to the correct spot. TFTC!

Found with Coybear2000 and a muggle friend. We caught the train to Milsons Point and started the cache. It was an interesting walk. We obtained all the needed info and worked out the new co-ords and headed there. C quickly spotted the hide. Log signed and all replaced and we decided to stop for a bite of lunch before heading back. TFTC.
In Sydney for a few days, to see a of shows, and ironically now between a couple of surgeries.
All I need is a Letterbox and a Multi to complete the latest souvenir challenge. Sydney does not have very many simple letterboxes within cooee of the CBD so here I am. Unfortunately I couldn't find the multi at the library so will head over towards Luna Park where the TFTC Multi final is. Thanks for the tour. I ate a gelato on my way around. Tftc

Visiting from Colorado USA. I wanted to find a letterbox while in Sydney and this was it. I had some difficulty at the first stop (figuring out the exposed side) but was glad I took pictures of all the signs to help me figure it out. Thank you for the tour of this wonderful neighborhood. I also saw this Australian Brush Turkey near the final location. Thank you for creating this cache and helping to keep our recreation going.

Keeping those calendar finds ticking over. The Calendar Caching Gods haven't brought down the thunder on me yet.
But I also want to keep progressing my 2023 goal of 500 Multi finds. So...
Headed to Lavender Bay and Kirribilli, where I can pick up two Multis and one Letterbox that looks like a Multi.
Got all three, which was especially rewarding as the Letterbox was a previous DNF.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
I don't understand the question!
For coffee lovers you can have it all with a Mocha.
Myself - well it's Chocolate all the way. Even bought some Chocolate Port at this year's Easter Show!
More importantly, I already had GZ confirmed from my previous attempt. So went straight there and in the first place I checked last time made the find.
Added my ink to the log, replaced and headed off for some lunch.
But will I have some choccy with it?
A favourite.

#17333 - 13:00; In Sydney for a few days with the geohoney and headed across the Harbour to Kirribilli for the markets this morning. Grabbed a bite to eat, then set about collecting a couple of the local caches, including this one, while the geohoney browsed the stalls. After a couple of multis completed, I decided to give this one a go. Couldn't get the checker to agree with me and in the end, after discovering the real error wasn't with the WP I thought it had been, decided to see if my calculations were correct, as the checker had timed me out! My luck was in and once at GZ a short search turned up the cache and I signed the log before heading south again. A fave for this one. TFTC AussiePam
I had solved this on a previous visit but didn't have time before dinner and the theatre nearby to go grab. After dinner tonight, with my partner heading home and some time before I went to the theatre again I was able to seek this out and sign. Thanks AussiePam.

Nalezeno společně s Radoshordos během měsíčního výletu do Malajsie, Singapuru, Bruneje a Austrálie, kde byla hlavním cílem celého výletu Tasmánie. Singapore se zároveň stává mojí 39. navštívenou zemí a Austrálie mojí 40. navštívenou zemí.
Keš jsem našel během chvilky společně s Radoshordos. Děkuji za přivedení na další zajímavé místo a za další bod do sbírky.
Zdravím z České republiky.
Found it during a one-month trip together with Radoshordos to Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Australia, where Tasmania's was main destination of the whole vacation. Singapore is also becoming my 39th visited country and Australia my 40th visited country.
I found the cash in a moment with Radoshordos. Thank you for bringing me to another interesting place and for the next point to the collection. Greetings from the Czech Republic.

I’m trying to get to 8 types of hides while in Sydney, and there are not too many letterboxes in central Sydney. After spending the day in the northeastern parts of the city to log a few hides, I made my way to this one. The needed information was obtained and even if I wasn’t sure about the first stage, I got a green light from the checker on my first attempt. A short walk to gz and once there I observed the location from different angles until I saw the hide. I don’t really care for all the different kinds of many-legged creatures in Australia, so I poked the hide with a stick until I got it out (and an insect went the other way) Success! I’ve signed the log and can cross another type of my Australia list I didn’t see a stamp in the hide though, but since that is not important for me I’m just mentioning it in my log. Now it’s time for (iced) coffee!
A big thank you to AussiePam for creating and maintaining this geocache, so that the rest of us can entertain our hobby. The log is signed as Bubbles.

I had done the legwork for this one at least six months ago so it was saved in my map. Made a find today as I was collecting other caches around the area TFtC aussiePam
I started this one yesterday but I couldn’t get the go ahead from the checker so I contacted the CO last night. I had all the correct numbers but had two in the wrong order. I will blame that on my exhaustion yesterday from a big day of geocaching so not thinking straight.
At gz this morning, there were a few men sweeping the street so I headed down to another cache and then returned half an hour later. All clear this time and with the help of the hint, found the cache. My first letterbox in NSW.
I enjoyed seeing some interesting shops. Tftc

I realised yesterday that I hadn’t yet found a letterbox cache down under and as I wanted to explore this are it looked like this one fitted the bill
The locals here sure like their coffee and chocolate!
Information collected, there was just one waypoint where I was not 100% sure what answer was needed but I got through on a second third try of the checker.
A pleasant stroll to GZ and thankfully a QEF here.
Thank you for placing this cache here for me to find today.

After finding Face Value I came along to the finals for this one and no issued with the find. Thanks so much for the LBH !

Companions: None
Muggles: Yep
Weather: Pleasant spring morning
Cache condition: Good
I had walked the first half of this multi a few weeks ago, and decided to finish it off today on the way to work. I soon had the necessary details and headed off to GZ, where I spotted the container on approach (hope it lasts this time?), although had to wait for a nearby workman to go into the property he was working on before swooping in for the find - TNLNSL. Thanks, nice little wander

An early start this morning saw PelDroedGwin and myself dropping Geodog off at the specialist hospital at 9am, that gave us a few hours to pass before we could collect her.
This cache was our first stop. I completed the trail last time I was in the city but the cache was missing then. Thanks to the CO for a fast replacement so I'm able to turn my sad face into a smiley face.
A very cute GZ and as other have mentioned a deliciously scented cache.

With the airline moving us to another flight 6 hours later we had about 8 hours to kill in Sydney before flying back to Perth so what better way to spend it then caching!
Unfortunately we spent a long time working our way through the area to get the co-ords only to keep getting a "No" on the checker. We messaged the CO in the hopes to find out what we were doing wrong but sadly, with not alot of time before having to fly out and the CO getting back to us fairly quickly, we were already back at the airport before we could try to find the final location.
Needless to say.... read the order of the clues carefully!
Will have to come to this one if we are ever here again!
PS Had lots of great coffee during our day out

Left the house before 6am this morning to drop the geodog off for a dental procedure at the vet in North Willoughby.
This means I have the whole day to pass, geocaching, until I can collect her. I hit the pavements.
This was a fun one. I’m a coffee and a chocolate fan….enjoying both without milk, nice and dark.
Cute GZ but I left empty handed
I’ll keep a watch for next time I’m in the city

But alas no joy at GZ despite a very interesting feature - and the water.

Fun find while vacationing from Colorado, USA. Made the walk and had breakfast near one stop. Made a common and frustrating error before getting a green checker. Cache is in good shape. Cheers!
Out for an early morning cycle up to Chatswood and return picking up a few unfound cache on the way. Only 5c this morning brrr . This was the last grab for the morning. I’d been over sometime ago to retrieve the required info which was good fun in an always enjoyable area and solved the coordinates a few days after. However, waiting for the replacement I only now find myself here to make a find. At the GZ I noticed two nearby residents eyeing me, but thankfully I could do some mystery cycle related stuff there next to where I needed to be and they soon lost interest. Reasonably quick find and replaced as found. A very nice aroma wafted from the cache which made SL duties pleasant . Thanks for placing this cache AussiePam. Another great one . #1471
I'd wandered about this familiar area a few nights ago gathering and counting but couldn't get my numbers to work. it turned out I had the alphabet in the wrong order. Maybe just as well as it was probably missing then. Returned tonight and grabbed a nearby parking spot then inspected this unusual street furniture to reveal the little cache. An ancestor lived in here over a century ago. A couple of the houses here date back even earlier and it's great to see how well they've survived. Thanks AussiePam.
Frazeydaze and I walked around Milton's Point a couple of Sundays ago collecting the information for the cache and over brunch we did the calcs and got the ok from the checker. Off to gz after brunch, however, despite our best efforts we couldn't get our hands on the prize.
Last Sunday we were in the area again and during the morning frazeydaze ran into the CO when she was chasing another of the COs caches. AussiePam said to her that she would make a check of the cache soon. When we got a notification that the cache had been replaced we headed out this morning to claim the prize.
A quick park and grab with enough time to smell the coffee. Now a hot chocolate or coffee as a reward.
Thanks for replacing this cache AussiePam.

Yep, I really love chocolate and coffee's not too bad either. I try not to look into those tempting shop windows as I pass - way too tempting!
I thought I'd do this one the other day when there was a break in the rain. Things went fairly well except it began to rain, quite heavily, and my brolly is broken.
The checker did not like my answer so a quick call to the CO and I knew where I had to return to and what to recheck. So that done the checker was satisfied and I walked down to GZ.
What an interesting spot!
I was greeted by 2 Brush Turkeys scratching near the water and quite oblivious to me hunting around and getting wetter and wetter and wetter. After double checking everywhere I could think I left. Now the next day I read a log from the latest finder who found the cache out in the street - no wonder I couldn't find it, didn't think of checking there in the rain.
Today while out and about I returned, driving right to GZ and there were those turkeys. We greeted each other and I grabbed what I wanted, it definitely wasn't there before!
Might be the smell that is interesting them.

Today we headed into the city on a 280 bus and T9 train to visit the Museum of Sydney for their “How to Move a Zoo” interactive exhibition (moving of the zoo from Moore Park to Mosman in 1916), then walked down to the Opera House for a Traditional cache at the Man O’War Steps. We then walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a Letterbox cache at Milsons Point, then caught a T9 train to Artarmon for a Traditional cache, and then a T1 train to Chatswood and a 280 bus back to home. This was the 2nd of 3 finds for the day.
After an interesting and informative visit to the Museum of Sydney, and then grabbing a TFTC Traditional cache down at the Man O’War Steps, we next walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Milsons Point for this AussiePam Letterbox Hybrid cache. We don’t often drink coffee, usually favoring tea varieties (Earl Grey for me), but we both love chocolate in all it’s forms.
Followed the detailed cache directions, visiting all the various purveyors of fine coffee & chocolate around Milsons Point and passing “Foxie” the dog along the way, who we were surprised to see playing frisbee in the park. Ended up with some final GZ coordinates, but the geochecker said NO, so we spent a while pondering where we had gone wrong. There was two locations that could have been interpreted in different ways, so we concentrated our efforts on those, and eventually had a green light from the geochecker.
Soon arrived at final GZ and made a quick find of the cache container which, when opened, gave us a nice “on theme” aroma. Forgot to bring our team caching stamp, so had to make do with just signing the log. TNLN, and then replaced as found. It’s a lovely spot for GZ, with an interesting feature surrounded by historic structures.
Thanks AussiePam for yet another colour (brown) from your Colour Coordinated Cache Collection. Have a Favourite point for your efforts.

Chocolate or coffee. If I had to choose which one to take to a deserted island, chocolate would be my choice. Dark chocolate, sold or fluid, always makes me happy and craving for more!
A nice walk around Kiribilli where all answers were found without a problem.
Once at GZ I noticed the container was out in the open on the street. After signing duties I replaced the cache under the water feature.

After a nice walk around Kirribilli, I made my way to the GZ.
I checked the obvious spot, but was frustrated. Then some muggles passed by, and while I paused the search & inspected my phone closely, I spied the cache sitting out in the open.
After completing the signing duties, I tucked it back where I imagined it was meant to be.
(Might be worth a check to be sure it’s well hidden.)

It was very confusing but a fun walk. TFTC. Very clever idea to keep the geocache dry!
I was feeling like getting a coffee or hot chocolate after work, then this cache popped up. Had to be. Nice stroll around Milson Pt / Kirribilli. {FTF} at 3.30. Thanks AP for your ever expanding palate. TFTC AussiePam
