#21341 - 12:24:35 PM; I needed to find a few few caches to top up the daily finds as well as contributing to some of many personal challenges that I'm slowly chipping away at. Decided a few caches around Mt Ainslie would be a good place to start. After heading up the hill, I stopped off for a nice quick find and sign here on the return journey. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
One last cache for the day after going up mt ainslie for the looking at Canberra AL and you guessed it. Starting yet another AL in Canberra. This one was a nice quick find. TFTT (thanks for the turtles)
I ducked out after work to grab this one before my next engagement. Thanks for the cache, DARKSIDEDAN!
Cleaning up a few caches around mount Ainslie which I havent yet done, this required a few kms of walking all around mount Ainslie reserve. Most caches straight forward finds, some had climbing challenges (no fishing), others tucked in holes and one even had a puzzle challenge to retrieve the cache. A guard rail cache, Tftc
A nice quick find with a well-placed place to pull over.We woke to a very cold morning and then the fog came in. A short move today as we traveled from Bowning to Canberra. But we stopped in downtown Yass to try two Ad Labs before heading further. We only managed a couple of caches on the way due to roadworks, but after setting up in Canberra we headed out to see what we could find. After driving up Mt Ainslie to see that magnificent panorama of Canberra we headed back and walked up ANZAC Avenue. Always a good thing to do, but this time with a series of Labs as our guide. It only warmed up a bit, but still a good day hadThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache DARKSIDEDAN.**SKI Pair****
I'd seen this one on the map and thought it'd be a nice and quick find if I ever found myself over this way, and a surprise EC publication just down the road gave me reason to stop by!To supplement the streak day with a physical find, I found a break in the traffic and pulled over to indeed discover that a simple and straightforward find awaited me.Seems to be in fine condition, although the logs inside are rapidly filling up.Thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for the hide!
Thanks for the cache! Found it on a lovely sunny afternoon, after failing to find one up on the mountain
Many years ago I tried to completely fill Mt Ainslie with smileys. It was a time with many Pacmania caches on the mountain yet I never got too close, and now there is a whole bunch more I need to pickup. They keep coming too fast for me to catchup! It was the most gorgeous day, so decided to ride the bike all the way up to the top, which luckily was not as hard as I imagined. After a fun ride down the mountain the cache was quickly uncovered. TFTC!
Here in Canberra for the Mega and we found your cache while exploring the area.We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
#4769 Turtles, turtles everywhere. A nice quick find here after a stroll in the bush. TFTC.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. With only light rain forecast we decided to take the GeoBikes back into the City and attempt the caches and AdLabs along Anzac Parade. With a quick stop at Duntroon to collect some previously missed caches. Unbeknownst to us out of towners the CBD was a bit of a traffic nightmare due to road closures for the Canberra Marathon. [B)] It took forever to move the last 1km.Once on the bikes things went a bit smoother. Mr Felix tackled mostly the AdLabs whilst Mrs Felix tackled the intercache and Wherigo. Before joining forces again and visiting the war memorial for the 3rd time this week to gather yet more information. The rain tried to get us but held off other than a couple of very light sprinkles. Looking forward to coming back here on 25th April 2024. Quick find as we pulled over to let the mini car club go past! TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Over here for Capital GeoBash Mega which has now concluded. One of many cache finds all over the city, particularly the oldest ones for my Jasmar grid. TFTC
Found during the Mega event in Canberra over the Easter long weekend. Our team comprised courtneyrose_, Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, Freddo, gridge98 and Team Waldron, signing the logs as ABP to save time, and space in the logbooks, or with our individual caching names. Enjoyed a great weekend away finding a rewarding range of cache types, d/t combinations, cache hides and retrievals. Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN!
Found after the local car parade during the geobash. Nice safe area to pull over. TFTC.

Quick cache find here. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Geobash Easter Mega - Day #4 (Easter Sunday 31/3)Day four saw me having a chill out day. I decided on going finding quality hides instead of quantity. The day started with the event GCAMJ0W but given I arrived early, I did the nearby tree climb. I also joined the flag parade up Mt Ainslie. I found a couple of historic hides as well as some higher terrain caches. I really enjoyed a day of taking it slow and not rushing around everywhere. I also avenged some previously DNFed caches which one of them I now understand why it took me so attempts to find it. I also found a few labs and once I got back to the motel it was time to get ready for my big power trail day tomorrow. TB visit. If the cache wasnt signed as JohnoMawbs, it was signed as JM or as the tour group name. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTEs & TFTCs After the fun of the event, I headed over to Mt Ainslie in preparation for the flag parade. However given I was so early, I went and found some of the nearby caches while on my way up. This was one included in that list of finds. A nice quick find at GZ and was off to the next one.
Found on our journey over the week here. This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Courtneyrose_ Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite as part of our team called: ABP (Alphabet People), the log books were either signed with the name, ABP or our individual caching names.A great weekend away in the capital and a very well organised mega, it was nice to be back in the ACT caching once again over easter with great weather. Thanks for the cache
I found this cache on a visit from Adelaide to Canberra to attend the Capital GeoBash Mega event over Easter.Today I teamed up with FeatherWaite, Team Waldron, gridge98, CourtneyRose and Davidwazza. Logs were signed ABP to save time and space on the logsheets. It was a productive day, focusing mainly on caches of interest, with a variety of cache types. The weather was fine and quite warm, in contrast to some of the other times Ive been in Canberra over Easter. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache.
Day 6 of our Capital Geobash mega-holiday. After flying our car-flag at Mt Ainslie this morning, we headed back down the mountain and spent the majority of the rest of the day walking up and down Anzac Avenue, then a visit to the Australian War Memorial. This was an opportunistic find on the way down from Mt Ainslie after the flag parade. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
Found this during a fantastic weekend away at the Canberra Mega, with gridge98, Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite. The log books were either signed with the name ABP or our individual caching names. Was an excellent Mega, grateful to be part of it!
Hand a few minutes to spare while waiting for the flag parade to start, so nabbed this convenient hide. TFTC!
This cache was next to where we parked for the Mount Ainslie car parade. TFTC DSD.Original log full so put a fresh log in cache.

A quick stop off to collect this one. Saw some other cachers making a swift find earlier as we drove past and so knew were to look. Good theme and solid hide. A nice turtle highlighted for this one in the series. Container and logbooks all in good condition. It's Easter in Canberra and of course elsewhere...We explored the city a bit, taking in views, visiting new spots (Old Parliament House Gardens, Blundells Cottage) and statues - doing some caching as well.We found this cache and signed the log.Tftc Darksidedan
Impeccable turtle knowledge from the great Darkside Danis there anything he cant do?Picked this up with Baristayan after nipping up Mt Ainslie for the virtual, during the Capital Geobash. Thanks!
Waiting in line for the Flag Parade, so why not sign this nearby cache! Easy, as someone else already had it in hand. The second log sheet is filling up. SL at 10.39am A beautiful morning for enjoying this area. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN #10,899
Since this cache was feet from our rendezvous for the GeoBash parade it would have been rude not to sign it. The log was full when we arrived ... and will be VERY full by the time the rest if the parade has logged it!
We found your cache today 31 March 2024 10:32am , while enjoying another day in our beautiful countryside. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Done with buckoraider on our way down Mount Ainslie All looking good with this cache
Last day of the Canberra Geobash and trying to reach our 2000 milestone. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Found this during my visit to the Canberra Mega. I had lots of fun either caching solo or with others and this was one we found. Signed as Lillieb05 or Lillian thanks to self correct and my badge calling me Lillian. Thanks for putting these caches out and making it a fun weekendFound this on the way down
After checking out the lights of Canberra from above, it was a quick driveby park and grab on the way back down.
Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
Out and about again, headed over to Sydney early in the morning, grabbed a hire car and got some local hides before driving to Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14135, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Big day of caching with WACrew. We ended up at the event after exhaustion had set in. It was tough jumping between GPS, cachly and about 10 different labs. Theres something to be said for having all lab stages within close proximity. Thanks for your contribution to making today an excellent day. Much appreciated.
#6474.We were lured to Canberra for some Boxing Day Specials shopping. After the shops, we had some time left for a couple of geocaches. We had to avoid the rain here and there, but it was still a lovely fresh day to find some caches. We arrived at gz just as the rain stopped and managed to find the cache without getting wet (except for our shoes). TFTC!
Out on the inner north side today, and making our way around some parts of Mount Ainslie. We were able to find this one almost as a drive-by, and found the hide to be in good condition and have added our name to the log. Thanks Darksidedan Domsky
We were a bit self conscious being beside the ride but we kept on lol no ragrets not even one little letter
# 8895 A quick grab in lieu of another I DNF'd. I found it on the ground at gz, but otherwise in tact. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN
