Logs
2nd of 4 not found todaySimply couldn't get a fix and wandered around several times before giving up.
No log book unfortunately, but it was a good find. Took a photo instead. The Pink Lake is pretty stinky at the moment! Not that the Purple Swamp Hens seem to mind.
Relatively quick find on a cool Canberra morning. Like the last log, the cache had no log in it, so I took a photo. TFTC!!! #2367
Found it open today on the ground with the paper missing. We re hid it (at the location) but has no paper. Pretty location though!
Thanks so much for this cache. It was fun chilling out around the lake, and when I checked the geocaching app to see if there were any caches nearby, it turned out I was standing right on the posted coordinates.I did not have a pen on me, so I did take a picture of the log attached to this post. Took a little while to locate this one but got a bit of a fright when I did as there was a massive spider guarding the cache.TFTC Nice spot, good camouflage.
With a D1T5 CITO on in Canberra I decided that today I would do a day trip over. Johno, why didnt you just stay a little longer over there after the Geobash? Because I had things to do at home and wanted some time with my [muggle] family and friends during my annual leave. So I made my way over there and after having breakfast, I headed off to go Geocaching. Due to the bad weather, I decided it was going to be a great day to find those caches within high muggle areas. It was a great idea because there wasnt any muggles around. Yes, I got very wet throughout the morning and once it was about 1pm I started to dry off, because the rain stopped. I then found a couple of more caches before heading to the CITO. Once at the CITO, it was great fun cleaning up the pond and catching up with everyone. I then headed off to get dinner and afterwards headed home. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTE & TFTCs! Given I was a little early for the CITO, I decided on finding a couple of the caches around Fern Hill. This was one of those finds. After parking in the given coordinates for the CITO, this cache was along the way. So of course I had to find it. After a shortish search with a couple of others, who wanted to find it as well, we were able to make the grab. Now it has been signed and replaced ready for the next finder and onto the the fun of the CITO.
How fabulous and mind boggling is this monumental geoart! On a multi project in the true sense of the word far from home base which is at higher altitude. The project idea to embark on the OYB series with a group of likeminded geobuddies AKA PUZZLD had its mad genesis a few months ago - what better way to attempt it!Travelling with contesta, kbucky, dj vu, search4, bounty trackers and weirdo biker over a few days mixing and matching skills with good humour and camaraderie. Thanks a zillion to the COs for the variety of caches and challenges. Im imagining a recovery session after this exhausting marathon!
Our time in Canberra is coming to an end. Our focus is now on collecting a few more suburban caches before heading home.Signed while at the event.Caching with and signing as the group 'Q3' and having a great day.TFTCache TheGeoHorseman
Mega is finished, and we, Q3, have a few days caching before heading home to QLD. This is our penultimate day and we are still chasing suburbs this afternoon as the rains have kept us indoors (plus shopping) this morning. Bonus pick-up while at the CITO event today.Log signed and cache replaced as found on 6 April 2024. TFTC, TheGeoHorseman
Great HideThanks TheGeoHorseman for the cacheJames0116Saturday, 6 Apr 20245:44:21pm AEDT4438
Quick find on a Saturday arvo after the nearby CITO. Geez that pond is looking rather pinkthanks!
This had us scratching the head a bit until an old pic from a log put us on the right trackThanks for the cache! Wonderful locationAnd cute container too
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers TheGeoHorseman! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)
Day 6 of my Canberra Mega adventure. Out caching with the members of the WAC crew. The day looks to be another sunny day, so a great day for geocaching . Very happy to claim a smiley here . Found with fitzy - Another day out and about enjoying the warmth and daylight savings while we can. All caches were found in good condition unless otherwise stated. A nice quick find here once at GZ. Thanks TheGeoHorseman.
34,544. Found with minniek during a quick caching run in Canberra today. We were back in Canberra again keeping busy doing some domestics for an upcoming event, but we still had some time for caching - of course. After shopping at Belco we headed over to grab this one. Snagged a park at the shops and walked on down. The area was deserted which led to a nice quick find. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then we headed off back to the car and to the next cache on the list. Thanks TheGeoHorseman !! Always enjoy visiting here. I found a cache here in December 2007 ! Find Number 51. GCTP7Y Fore!bidden.
Looked around for a solid 20 mins, think I matched a previous find photo with a location but couldn't find it unfortunately
After a great long weekend away, it was time to try and catch up on things around home before heading away again later in the week. I jumped on the scooter to practice for the Vietnam ride and headed over to Bruce. I managed to locate somewhere to stop and wandered down to the lake behind all the units around this area. Happily the cache was found quickly without any problems and I could return to my bike to go home and start packing my bag. Thanks for the cache TheGeoHorseman44984.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Braille A#117**Albida**
I didnt quite find it today, but I dont mind because this was such a nice visit! The area is beautiful, and there was someone softly playing some sort of pan instrument or perhaps a kalimba by the lake. It was such a relaxing experience, and I looked for the cache until my phone had died. I will be back to have another look soon. Thank you for the cache, but also for introducing me to this place
I came looking for this one a few times with muggles everywhere. DNF, DNF, DNF and today, for my birthday... I brought a friend with a keen eye who I was sure would see it first.I found it! Happy 45th Birthday to me!
Billie the wonder dog was our lookout -- she's always alert to opportunities to demand pats from muggles! tftc
#3664 Hoping for a find a bit closer to home DT and I headed out for a look at this hide. It wasn’t the first place we checked, or even the second or third, but we came up with the find soon enough. The log paper has been doing the rounds and is well and truly ready for replacement but we managed a spot to log. TFTC.
My mistake for coming to find this cache at lunch time haha! I didn’t realise it was such a popular spot for people to take lunch. I will be coming back to have a better look, as I felt that I couldn’t have a proper look without bringing too much attention to myself!
Cache 9586 on 21 Jan 2023.
After a walk at the base of Black Mountain, I had a bit of time to kill before my late morning appointment, so I swung by this cache on my way north.
Took me a few minutes to locate it, I needed to be at the right angle to see it, not at ground level!
Thanks TheGeoHorseman for the cache and the fun!

#16531 - 12:44:00 PM; Visiting friends in Fern Hill and took the opportunity to collect a couple of caches which have appeared since my last visit. Made my way to a familiar area, although it's been a long time between visits. Checked the hint and unlike my previous stop, turned up the cache in the first place I checked, even though it was a little unexpected! TFTC TheGeoHorseman

Like others the hint doesn't really help, same as swirling gps.coords but found it in the end
Had a bit of a search with no luck, but managed to get there in the end. I put the cache back in line with the hint.
Don't usually number my finds, but this one is a bit of fun.....number 33,333
Arrived at GZ and started searching as per the hint. With no luck after a couple of minutes, a read of the logs put me on the right path and the cache was then soon in hand. Log signed and then back to the car before the rain got heavy.
Thanks TheGeoHorseman....

Early morning cycle to collect a few caches. TFTC. Tricky find and as per previous logs, don’t listen to the clue.
I live this little hidden spot and gave picked up a few caches around the lake over the years. Another Canberra gem. Cache in good condition but found at ground level and not as per hint. Replaced as found. Thanks for hiding this cache TheGeoHorseman for me and others to find.
Certainly didn't match the hint but after exploring the GZ area, managed to unearth container and signed the log. TFTC TheGeoHorseman
After a lot of searching every possibility extended search a bit and found. TFTC.

After cachig with ZQX all morning, I then did some solo caching in the afternoon. Arrived at GZ, searched as per the hint, found nothing, read some logs, soon found the cache. A lovely spot to sit awhile. TFTC.

After searching for a while and with the compass firmly pointing into the blackberries I resorted to reading the hint and logs, quickly noring to not pay attention to one of those. It still took some more searching and after I widened my search in an other direction as previously (the less obvious) I glimpsed something I nearly disregarded as part of the rubbish that was lying around. But, alas, it was the cache.
Then proceeded to record the frog calls to upload to the national frog database.

Found on a big day of walkin'! After getting a wholesome parmy lunch at the takeaway nearby I took a short walk to nab this one. Took a few minutes to find with the hint not matching the hide but I was all good in the end. Beautiful location, love seeing it when it's pink! TFTC TheGeoHorseman!
A tricky little hide with so many rocks and trees in such a small space bundled together! We started looking in tree fork's as the hint suggested, but then read the previous log from Joolay so changed direction. I think we may have DNF'd this without that!
I focused on one significant spot whilst DSD focused on the other, and a short time later the cache was located! Phew, happy for that!
The logbook is just a single small sheet of paper and might get full quickly!
Thanks TheGeoHorseman!

Hint is incorrect and had us searching in the wrong spot. Eventually found when looking in an obvious spot.
Thanks for getting me out and about TheGeoHorseman

Chooo ooo [found] with aquilus1 and Joolay ! - Nice find here! Thanks TheGeoHorseman!
No pink pond today but have seen in it in full form several times. A fresh air break with Czechboy14 and MilesMorales2 while the sun was shining. Wasn’t confident of a quick find reading earlier logs but after searching the obvious spots eventually made the find. A few muggles either side of the hide, hopefully this one remains hidden. TNLNSL TFTC
A fast-finishing second to find here today.
As StarsAlign's log notes, the container has been repositioned from its original hiding spot to hopefully make it harder to muggle (although this is a popular place, so fingers crossed) - this means GZ was about 10m out for me, but it was hidden in a spot and manner likely to be familiar to most geocachers. It might benefit from a plastic bag on the log to keep it dry, however.
Thanks, TheGeoHorseman!

A DDNF here tonight. DoubleDNF. First a good long search with RickAss, nice to meet you, and after an encouraging hard find at the other new cache with fresh motivation another 45 minute search with Aquilus1. This is either missing or the listing is in some way wrong.
Sadly no find with pantspeople and Farmers 5. Maybe some other time.
Last night I refused to leave my warm house when this cache was published just up the road. This morning I saw the DNFs so decided to see if the early morning light would bring any joy ??. At 7am I started in the obvious spot then ended up exploring (searching ??) the whole perimeter of the lake edge on the off chance that the coordinates were out. It was lovely to catch up with pantspeople ?? and then Farmers 5 ????? before we soon parted ways again.
I corresponded with the CO who was on his way to school ??. Turns out that the coordinates are good and the photo I sent him of GZ was spot on. So will come back another day to find as we are confident that the cache needs to be replaced.

No luck this morning with StarsAlign and The Farmers 5 (great to meet you!) on a pre work caper. We will return.
Co ords seem to be in a logical spot but no cache to be found .
Will watch with interest .
