Camped in Curramuka for a couple of days, picked up a few caches this afternoon before heading back to do a bit of shopping . Took nothing left a Path Tag in one of the caches. A change of plan, we were intending on heading down the Yorke yesterday for an event and a run on the crab geoart unfortunately that did not pan out. Today we caught up with Mattycat and headed south towards the crab art that we had half left to go, stopping along the way on some caches that have appeared since our last visit.TFTC Fishy Tales

I normally cache alone so the opportunity to have some fun with others made the weekend away a bit special. Probably get the opportunity once a year, the last being the seahorse. All caches were signed as Happy Crabbers, to save space on the log sheets and is usual for these days out. Early lunch at Minlaton and then some random caching and adventure labing until the event at Yorke Valley Dam, Maitland. Gotta love a smiley face on the map.Thankyou for placing and maintaining it.

The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual COs, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals dont know about. I, like most cachers, look for more that a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most COs take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less traveled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own. Day 5 of my SA trip. Around Minlaton today with the crab series planned.A few other local caches as well.The crabs have been on my to do list for ages. I began at 52 this morning working south. The first 12 have been found but the piles of rocks are intimidating .Forecast for rain later so the idea to get them early.Road surface rocky but dry.Thanks for this series

The last few days I have been fortunate to nab a few KG whiting at Point Turton. Fishing has quietened down and its not quite wine time so headed out for a few crabs. Still the same issue, the crabs Ive been nabbing are undersize but plentiful. Will persevere with the crabbing for another run but not expecting anything legal. After over seven weeks on the road, I'm back home and finally catching up on all my logging.Caching in South Australia was fantastic, so many good hides to find, and we found ourselves zigzagging all over the place doing lots of geoart but of course ran out of time to get everything done on our to-do list.The majority of caches we found were in great condition and well maintained, which is a credit to all the CO's who placed them, so thank you.Our logs were mostly signed as 5 for QLD to save room on the log sheets, and no doubt, we'll be back again in the future.

A February Mega brought us to Adelaide. After yesterday's huge day we are hoping for another day with big numbers but not as many as yesterday. Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Bullertrout, IsisNZ and Nanzie are signing our logs as SPBINZ or sometimes SPINZ as BT has done a large number of caches on the Peninsula. TFTC #15841

Found as part of the SPBINZ team (Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Bullertrout, IsisNZ, and Nanzie) although Bullertrout has found most of this trail on a previous visit. Today we are trying to piece this crab geoart back together as out first objective. We are taking it a little easier today after a big day out yesterday to exceed our target of 400 caches in a day. Just as well too as it got hotter and hotter as the day progressed - turned out to be the hottest day of our trip in the end. It wasn't as bad as we expected though as the heat was counteracted by the cool air conditioning in the car. Caching as team SPBINZ: Sidewaze, Paddlechick, Bullertrout IsisNZ and Nanzie. We had a big day out yesterday, tracking down 430+ geocaches so today was a bit more laid back, a slightly later start, a few more non-trail caches and generally a more laid-back approach. The day turned out to be much warmer than yesterday, so we were pleased to already have the "big number" day ticked off. I get a bit side-tracked when I'm caching and take time to enjoy the local flora and fauna. The plants are so obviously adapted to life in a dry climate, the birds are colourful and screechy, and the ants - - well, I've never seen such large ants or had such a vicious bite from an insect. There are lots of scenic views too, some of which attract action from my camera but of course many that just form part of the overall experience.Oh, but of course I also take my turn driving and sometimes I'm first out of the car and into the hunt, though I'm probably number 5 on the success stakes when it comes to finding the slightly elusive hides .Today's first main priority, grab the crab series. - - - Put that great picture back together again .Greetings from the Shaky Isles and many many thanks for setting up and maintaining this series.(V) (,,,,*) (V).

Day 1 on the Yorke before attending the Great Leap Forward.Amazingly ten of us have travelled from the Nelson area (top of the South Island) and as luck would have it, Andy & Gail just happened to be staying in Port Vincent at the same time as me.Much more fun finding geoart in a group so I greatfully accepted an offer to be driven around by Andy for the day while Gail did the expert navigating.We signed the Crab logs as MAG and most of the other finds with our full caching names.An enjoyable day before attending a Fish & Chip Event back in Port Vincent.TFTC

TFTC Fishy Tales your cache CRAB 51 that we found today. Day 2 in Minlaton. The aim of the day was to complete the Crab GeoArt. It was forecast to be a scorcher today and common sense told us to put this on hold until a cooler today tomorrow. Common sense did not prevail and we started off ad completed the task in just shy of 6 hours. We were hot, flustered and glad to be finished. A couple of cold drinks and we were recovering with the cooler switched on.Find Count: 17968

We headed off this morning to finish the remaining this geoart that we didn't finish yesterday.We encountered a lot of heavy machinery on the roads and in the paddocks doing the yearly harvest but none a big issue. We were happy when we acually got through quicker than expected. ????Again we had all corrected the finals for these caches not long after they came out but this was our first chance to look for the actual hides. We found the majority of the hides we looked for turned into nice quick finds but there were a few that had us looking for a quite awhile even with this many eyes looking. We did replace a couple of containers but all the others were in good condition. Sorry for the generic log but doing so many in a day we lost track of individual hides. This does not mean we do not appreciate the enormous effort and expence gone into setting up the series as we really do.Many thanks Fishy Tales For the fun and laughs. I'm starting to research what farm grows and history. Weather is awesome blue sky , and so much fun with deaf group and get home late tired.

The JAMS team were heading over to Yorke Peninsula for a couple of days to complete the new geoart along with some more of the fishing line that some of us still needed. It was also a trip to help mogni get closer to a major milestone. We had a fun 2 days with lots of different caches found as well as the Fishing Hook and line, Crab and Seahorse and we performed maintenance where needed.

Day 2, we left our accommodation early and found a few more of the fishing line before heading over to do the Crab then the Sea Horse along with some others that we were driving past.

I am trying to hit a major milestone in April and this weekend was my chance to get closer to my goal. the JAMMS (JJ52, Allister W, me, michells&hound and sir_spectre) generously helped me find 300+ caches and all caches were replaced better than found.

Found with JAMS ( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, Mitchell&hound plus sir_spectre ) crew. Mogni wants to get to 20, 000 by the Rutherglen Mega in Victoria and make that event her 20, 000 th. Targeted so multi's on the way down to get me closer to 1000 multi's, under 15 to go and got another 8 this trip. So we went out to get some parts of the fishing line geo art that some of the JAMS members haven't completed plus the " Crab ", " The Hook " and the " Sea Horse " geo art series plus some extra caches along the way. By request of one of the members of the fishy tales we swapped the logs sheets for new log sheets ( at least 350 ) and we also removed the 10 mint tins we found and replaced them with preform tubes. All containers found eaten, creacked, broken or with out lids were also replaced with the caches supplied bt the fishy tales group. By the end of the trip we had filled 1 and 3/4 quartes of a standard sized medium bin liner bag with log sheets and broken containers ( some containers not of the geo art series ). Only sighted 2 snakes while doing the geo art but i think i walk though at least 3 dozen spider webs. I found a trackable on the ground about 2 meters from the cache while doing the crab geo art, some people need to be more careful when carrying trackables in their pockets while caching. We stayed in Port Vincent over night. I even got my 18, 000 cache find this weekend, that is probably less surprising since i got just under 400 finds for the weekend. A good weekend away was had by all and it wasn't to hot but i wouldn't have wanted it any hotter.

Today I caught up with the rest of the JAMS crew to complete the Crab and Seahorse geoart. It was a great day not too hot and all caches found in excellent condition.
A few extra caches were thrown in for good measure and I finished the day with 200 finds and back home before 5pm. perfect day out!!

So JTreeTrack2 and Mr Dromaniax decided they would find FOUR HUNDRED caches in a day. When they put their minds to a task, they usually achieve it, which is what they did.

The day started with the first cache at 8.15 and finished with the last on the list found at 7.45 pm. So eleven and a half hours of solid caching. We travelled 135 kilometres to achieve the task.

We had zero DNFs. We also picked up a few spare caches from the Bait station yesterday evening and replaced a few that had succumbed to the ravages of time.

We found nearly one hundred WereiGo caches and many Mysteries from the Hook GeoArt.

We were very impressed by the standard of maintenance on the caches that we found and were pleased that we also picked up a few decades of unloved.

Thank you, Fishy Tales, for a wonderful, gruelling day caching on the Yorke Peninsula.

All caches were stamped with JTT2 DX.

Heading over to the Yorke Peninsula for some camping and Geocaching. The primary target for today was the crab trail.

Found all without problems. The rocky GZs did have a couple of tricky ones but all in all an enjoyable few hours were had.

A snake and some bees kept the excitement up but thankfully no bites or stings for me today.

Found on a day trip to the Yorke Peninsula with gridge98.

Our main target was the crab geoart wherigo series, but we took the opportunity to find a few other caches of interest along the way.

We were lucky with the weather - a beautiful clear sunny day, but not too hot - just perfect for geocaching. We were also lucky that there wasn't really too much traffic about, despite being a public holiday.

Overall it was a fairly leisurely day and we were a bit surprised that we didn't encounter any other geocachers along the way.

We found all the caches we looked for and all of the containers and contents were in good condition. The geoart series logbooks were signed 'eg1 98'.

The Epic Road Trip with OzHockeyChick finds us in the Yorke Peninsula on Day 16. We’ve found a boat and a hook and now it’s time for a crab. All while exploring around the midpoint of the peninsula.

Came out to catch some crabs. Most were caught easily, some a lil harder, all but a cpl the hint worked for, and none got away!
A good days crabbing indeed!

Ttrogg and the Starman (Astro), Picked up the Rat from the Rat's den.
We then headed over to the Yorke's.
It was a day filled with stories, laughter, adventure and yes caches.

After picking up the Rat and the Starman from the Rat's den we headed west to the Yorke Peninsula for a pleasant day of caching. The weather wasn't the best but we managed to work around it and all aims were achieved, with some extras thrown in for good measure.
A quick find and stamp of another Crab geoart cache for all three of us.

When I eat crab, slide the rosy
rubbery claw across my tongue
I think of my mother. She'd drive down
to the edge of the Bay, tiny woman in a
huge car, she'd ask the crab-man to
crack it for her. She'd stand and wait as the
pliers broke those chalky homes, wild-
red and knobby, those cartilage wrists, the
thin orange roof of the back.
I'd come home, and find her at the table
crisply unhousing the parts, laying the
fierce shell on one side, the
soft body on the other. She gave us
lots, because we loved it so much,
so there was always enough, a mound of crab like a
cross between breast-milk and meat. The back
even had the shape of a perfect
ruined breast, upright flakes
white as the flesh of a chrysanthemum, but the
best part was the claw, she'd slide it
out so slowly the tip was unbroken,
scarlet bulb of the feeler—it was such a
kick to easily eat that weapon,
wreck its delicate hooked pulp between
palate and tongue. She loved to feed us
and all she gave us was fresh, she was willing to
grasp shell, membrane, stem, to go
close to dirt and salt to feed us,
the way she had gone near our father himself
to give us life. I look back and
see us dripping at the table, feeding, her
row of pink eaters, the platter of flawless
limp claws, I look back further and
see her in the kitchen, shelling flesh, her
small hands curled—she is like a
fish-hawk, wild, tearing the meat
deftly, living out her life of fear and desire.

We had a great day crabbing on the Peninsula and made a few other fides as well

Today The X-Trailers and I ventured back to the Crab series after doing a few several days ago heading back to Coobowie. Weather was overcast and a few drops of rain. Nothing to worry us!
All caches found in gd condition although several took longer than expected due to long grasses.

Decided to tackle the crab today with Earthlight.
Overcast day and a few intermitent showers .
Most caches found easily while a few were a bit more challenging .
Did not enjoy the prickles I collected in my shoes and socks .Found aprox.50 ,leaving the others to tomorrow if time allows.

Back in Ardrossan for harvest work. Still a little early for the season with Mr Felix having a birthday on Sunday we had saved a few caches to do around lunch at Stansbury. Looking at our geomap last night to check how many caches that actually was we were AMAZED that whoa theres a CRAB we didnt know about. So we set about sorting out the WIG. With 1 hiccup all were solved by 10.15pm but with a lazy start this morning we set off for Minlaton bakery for brunch! Oops bakery shut for maintenance so over the road to the Gumnut cafe for some awesome breakfast wrap and burger before starting the series at 11.00am. At the first cache we saw Featherwaite had been out yesterday and after maybe 20 caches we saw their log come in that we had been at least 12hours too late for FTF. So as it turned out STF for us for this series.

TFTC Fishy Tales

I've been planning a trip to Wool Bay for the coming weekend, so when I noticed a series of new caches on Yorke Peninsula being published on the Friday afternoon our plans were edged forward. Drove across into the setting sun and completed the series by torchlight until the early hours of the morning. Very happy to claim *FTF* on all 96 caches. Thanks for the cache and series Fishy Tales!
