This is my first log for 2023! Yay! Now all I need to do is the challenge. Simples.
TFTC cache n0w0rries, I look forward to the day I can post a find !
TFTC cache n0w0rries, I look forward to the day I can post a find !
Today was an "easy" day. No bike riding, just a relaxing cruise on the river. I do remember working towards my first loop. It was much harder 15 years ago. I was pretty happy with it, and then a D/T rating was changed. I went out and did another 2 loops giving me a total of three. I stayed on 3, with one pesky box not able to be filled within 1000km of home. Sitting with my lowest box at 16 currently. Thanks for the challenge cache.
A fun loop around with deanside. One of the many hordes that stumbled over to the island today. I teamed up with Posums as we ventured around. Cool place. Easy find here with others. I do qualify! Thanks for the fun and adventure.
Today I planned to walkover to Herring Island for an event (not an easy task walking on water you might say) and I mentioned it to my caching buddy GemmaSistema. So a planned was hatched to catch up and do some caching before hand.I picked her up at a station and soon the day of fun and laughs started.Caches were mainly picked by if there was parking close by and also how much walking was involved. After touring the finer suburbs of Melbourne we have made it where we wanted to be and that is on an island.I mentioned that I was walking to Herring Island to my son during the week and he laughed at me.Photo was sent and the apology came.I have walked a couple of these wobbly bridges before. It took me awhile to do my first loop and I finished it off with the on your bike series and now I have only 5 to go on my second loop. Thanks n0w0rries TFTCC.
It was fantastic to visit this location and add my name to the log. A while back I had my P81 matrix completed, unfortunately since then GC4VGVH Ornithophobia was modified from D3.5/T4.5 after I had found it, so I now have one gap. Anyway, it was still definitely great to come here and finally see the view from this lovely island. Thanks to n0w0rries for placing this cache.
As per instructions from cache owner Rod! I am 18 away from completing this challenge! Im working on it! Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful challenge
Found by The Empire + HThe city hummed in the distance, but here, the peaceful flow of the Yarra River set a calm tone for the day. A temporary floating bridge stretched across the water, offering rare access to the island, and we made our way over, the bridge gently shifting beneath our feet as we crossed.Herring Island greeted us with a mix of open greenery and dense native vegetation. The island felt both remote and intimate, a hidden sanctuary just 4 kilometers from the city center. Picnic tables were scattered under large trees, and some groups had already laid out their blankets, basking in the tranquil atmosphere. After a quick search, we spotted the cache tucked away in a clever hide. It felt rewarding to sign the log, knowing that this find was built on a foundation of countless other caches of varying difficulties and terrains. Completing the DT loop once had been a huge milestone, but to stand here after doing it three times made the moment even more satisfying. It wasnt just another number on the gridit was a testament to the dedication and the adventures that brought me here.As we left the island via the floating bridge, we felt a sense of connection, not just to the art and nature, but to the history and spirit of Birrarung, the land, and those who had walked these paths before. Thanks for the cool challenge cache n0w0rries.-M[The Empire](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=The%20Empire) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.3 total loops of 1 needed
Easiest 5/5 I've done in a while... but much appreciated. Today there was a cheats way to the island so we casually strolled all the way to gz.
LVsnooks and I headed over to Herring Island for a quick caching adventure while the footbridge was in action and signed this cache while we were here. Still a little while away from officially "finding" this one with 29 left to tick off our grid. TFTC
Being well qualified for this it was a must do cache for me on Herring Island event day. A quick find was made here by fellow eventers. Thanks for setting this challenge up. Enjoyed our visit to Herring Island today. Took the opportunity for a write note .. still have a way to go.. another 15 spots to fill on my D/T grid. thanks N0w0rries for the challenge
Great opportunity today to access Herring Island by temporary pontoon bridge to attend an event and locate the caches on the island. Very enjoyable exploring the island. This was our final find on the island. Name added to log but a long way to go for me to meet the challenge. Something to work towards. TFTC
Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Ten: The inner south east.Weather: a rainy end to the day.One of five caches (includes an event) found on Herring Island today thanks to the NGV fronting up the cost of a temporary floating bridge to the island. Talk about perfect timing for my this extended visit to Melbourne. By the time I reached this cache It was already in the hands of other cachers and waiting to be signed. Ive already done the hard work to qualify. Thanks for this challenge n0w0rries. Everyone loves a D5/T5. Have another Favourite Point. I took a stroll out here today with SciFiRulz, on the floating bridge courtesy of NGV.All good at GZ.
With the lure of an event on Herring Island that didn't require us to cart a kayak into the city, Chook joined forces with Sunset62 and micaparamedic, catching the train in and enjoying a leisurely walk there via a handful of caches.Once on the Island, we met up with many other likeminded geocachers on the same mission. The challenge itself took us 7 years to do our first loop, and another 2 to do our second. We are still working on our third.Thank you n0w0rries for the cache and the challenge.[chooknchunk](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=chooknchunk) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.

Not there yet but almost 3 to go. Having a lovely day out with Tenkae. Enjoying a walk, chat and laugh in the big smoke! Thanks n0w0rries for showcasing this area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
This D/T Challenge cache, which we finally qualified for at Easter this year, helps us to complete our second loop of our D/T Matrix. A tricky container to find and extract and lucky there werent too many muggles wandering the island this afternoon. SL at 3.34pm #11,172 TFTCHALLENGE n0w0rries - such a treat being able to walk to the island on a floating bridge on a sunny Spring afternoon.
On a clear blue day... We attended an event hosted today by yours truly called A Herring Winter! I have never been on the island & so all the caches on the island were TBF (to be found)! This cache, sadly, even after 11 years of caching, I can't claim a smiley on today Name is in the logbook... I'll make this a smiley soon!
I dreamt about the Herring Island geocaches for a long time before leaving the UK. A little planning was required in order to reach the island. When the appointed day arrived, we made our way to the island in the delightful company of our new friends. The sculpture park was awesome. Herring Island is a truly special place where amazing geocaching memories are made.I don't qualify for this Challenge yet, but have signed the log, in the hope of qualifying one day. TFTC
There are a few new caches here on Herring Island since our last visit, and this cache caught my attention upon publication. While searching at GZ, we were informed that it was missing and my heart sank. Then we were told the CO might be heading over with a new cache, so when nirgalagrin was spotted, we all nearly bowled him over looking for n0w0rries. It turned out wellnirgalagrin had the replacement cache on hand, and we all were able to sign the log.Another bonus is we qualify![Knight_shift](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Knight_shift) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.slog:I have:ok:2 total loops of 1 neededThanks n0w0rries for a great challenge in a beautiful location.
10th D/T loop now complete!Today was paddle day! Who said you cant kayak in the middle of winter. I teamed up with OzHockeyChick to tackle a couple of suburban kayak caches before the main event on Herring Island this afternoon. We arrived to see a number of cachers unloading their cars and carrying their kayaks down to the landing. A bit of a drop off made for a tricky entry but we all managed to make it without getting wet.Once on the island, we gathered at the event HQ before setting off to explore the caches on offer, of which this is one!We targeted this challenge only to find that it was missing. Fortunately reinforcements were in their way and the cache was soon replaced thanks to nirgalagrin (on behalf of the CO).[RoamingHowie](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=RoamingHowie) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.I have 9 total loops of 1 needed.Upon logging this 5/5 cache, my 10th D/T loop is now complete!A big thanks goes to n0w0rries for taking the time to add D/T Matrix Challenge to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you ready for Victorias next big event?Join us for Victorias first ever *Block Party* to celebrate 25 years of geocaching.**When:** March 22 - 23, 2025**Where:** Hume Global Learning Centre, SunburyLog your will attend at [**GCAP417: The Sunbury Event** ](https://coord.info/GCAP417) Visit our [**Block Party website** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/the-sunbury-event) for more details on the exciting lineup of events and activities as they are released!
wahoo - finally got here to sign this log and it was missing! Had looked forward to coming to Herring Island for this cache when my grid was filled the first time. However it's been some time since then as I'm just shy of completing my 5th loop.Great disappointment it was missing but as we had a previous finder with us and collectively over 100,000 found caches, we figured it was probably missing and phoned the delightful CO. With photos sent, confirmation was made and a replacement was on its way. So finally the long awaited signing of this cache was done.Another Fave for you n0w0rries??Regardskbucky
Logging with the permission of the CO. Headed down from Ballarat with feathertop for an afternoon on the island. Once we landed, we took the walk around, finding the caches as we went. After this one, we headed for the event GZ to wait for others to rock up. All up a good day, even if a little windy...Thanks n0w0rries....fav point added for a good challenge.[Sol de lune](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Sol%20de%20lune) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.I have:9 total loops of 1 needed
One of the main targets while on the island was this cache. However we discovered through word of mouth that it was missing. Devastated!Later, while we were exploring the island, we bumped into nirgalagrin who was on his way to replace the missing cache, so we added our names to the log. I paddled to this cache before the event on the island (err well before I got to the event anyway...) as I was worried I might run out of light and/or energy to visit it afterwards. I checked likely spots but it seemed the river was low and cache not reachable from the river today so I hoped to tackle it from the other direction. Alas, conferring with GJMMelb at the event it appears this one has gone AWOL so it will have to wait for another paddling expedition to the island...
Logging with permission of the CO as the cache was indeed confirmed missing in action and replaced later today during the gathering of many geocaching souls on this gorgeous island. My excursion today was in Sol de Lune's company and we had a great time on the island.I have 15 loops so all good. A favourite point for the challenge and the location. I came here for the "Pop-up Paddle: Herring Island" event with my hubby and others. We found that the cache was missing. We missed n0w0rries as we thought you might be joining us. Nevertheless, thanks to n0w0rries for kindly offering a replacement. It is a bit chilly here, but I am not bothered as I have dressed warmly enough to keep comfortable!Glad that I am qualified here:[pwala](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=pwala) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.slog:I have:ok:2 total loops of 1 needed
Signed the log on the replacement cache as the placement that was suppose to be there was declared missing. Dont qualify for the find however one day may do so. When that happens all I have to do is remember to log it.
I was able to sign the replacement cache after visiting GZ earlier in the afternoon with a large group which included a previous finder. I dont yet qualify (12 squares to go). Looking forward to filling my grid so I can log this one.
Just remember I signed this last time on the island with Rebel Acts and Tiz but didn't qualify, but no problem after the recent Canberra Mega.Omegaman1971 fulfils challenge D/T Matrix Challenge (GCA2WTX), according to https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492Cheers for the cache mate.
we found the cache a while ago on a joint expedition to the island hitching a ride on the back of someone else's yak the d/t matrix is something we have avoided intentionally for a long while not for any great reasonexcept we didn't want to chase treasures purely for the sake of their stats for the goal of claiming one more loopwe are not even sure a loop of the d/t matrix is a massive triumph with care, you could probably fill up a decent grid using misrated caches not worthy of their starsso insteadwe let our grid fill naturally with time seeking out our style of treasure, it eventually, eventually filled up and nowa mere ten years after we starting caching a mere two thousand caches to our namewe have filled a gridcheersthanks for the reward
**29/03/2024, 11:15:00****Find #5729****Mystery Find #1089**I'd been wanting to do the three caches on Herring Island for quite some time. Yesterday I realised that the punt would stop running after this Monday. Easter had crept up on me without me noticing. [:o)]I decided Good Friday would be a good day to attempt them as the roads should be quieter than usual, at least early in the morning. I couldn't get a park when I arrived around 9:00am so I went to the Shrine to do the earth cache there. When I returned, there was ample parking. SteMicMitSar joined me around 10:45am and we made our way over to the island. This was the next prize and it is a much coveted D5/T5. I had already qualified for this challenge on the day it was published. It was just a matter of getting here to find the cache and sign the log. Today, I accomplished both. **Thank-you to n0w0rries for placing this geocache**> [biggles1024](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=biggles1024) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.> I have:> ok:1 total loops of 1 needed
A small group of us decided to hit Herring Island on this beautiful Autumnal day. The group consisted of McLookers, Muzza, maccamob, Team Crackers and myself, micaparamedic. We were there for the first punt of the day but only a few of us made it on. With only 12 passengers each trip and a large contingent of South Korean tourists pushing and shoving to get on, Spook and I missed out on the first trip. Finally, Spook and I arrived on the island, the others were waiting for us on the other side. A pleasant wander around the island saw us finding all the available caches today. Some, including myself, had been on the island previously with a few finds already logged.I qualify for this challenge with 16 D/T Matrix loops. Thanks n0w0rries for placing this Mystery Cache, enhancing the game board and adding to our enjoyment.

We had planned this outing to meet up with McLookers, micaparamedic, maccamob & Muzzato visit Herring Island. As we had all met the challenge this wasa definitely one we were going to look for. There were quite a few muggles around today and we were happy that the cache was well off the beaten track.Once at gz we started the search and Muzza again spotted the nice hide and all we had to do was add our names to the log. Many thanks n0w0rries for setting this up, our proof is below.[Team Crackers](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Team%20Crackers) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.slog:I have:ok:15 total loops of 1 needed
I met up with McLookers, Micaparamedic, Maccamob and Team Crackers to make the trip to the island before the punt shuts down for a while. After doing the nearby multi, we headed here for a nice and quick find. I have 9 loops under my belt, with just more more cache required to finish the 10th (sadly not this one). Thanks to n0w0rries for the challenge and the cache.
TFTC! 23 March 2024 3:04:38pm 7701 thanks to n0w0rries for the cache! We signed this one on our 2nd trip to the island early 2023.We ran into the CO at an event earlier that day when we were trying so hard to complete a multi month challenge. Nearby he assisted us with a TOTT to sign one of his caches that we had solved but werent able to sign! He suggested an afternoon trip over here to collect his new cache! we utilised the Punt, and enjoyed another sunny afternoon on the island. However at the time we were far from qualifying- around 40 to go. Wow what does a year make! Slowly by slowly chipping away at combinations. Added a kayak, and a fishing pole along the way! Thanks to people assisting us with TOTT along the way and helped us. One by one we got there, every trip we tried to add to the list, some harder than others, some end up being DNFs. Some DTs are rarer than others. We had planned to celebrate with a particular cache, but in the Barossa we celebrated with an unexpected unplanned cache DT in the form of a fishing pole! At least we are 9 away from the next loop! Thanks for challenging us.queenant89](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=queenant89) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.slog:I have:ok:1 total loops of 1 neededlog:No
I qualify with 16 loops, only 1 required. Should be there tomorrow to make the find.
Visited with the CO today. Thanks Dad.With only 24/81 collected, it may be another decade before we qualify.
The plan is to attend the Capital GeoBash in Canberra over Easter, so today is one of the last opportunities to hitch a free ride out here. The perfect chance to bring our youngest son, his wife and our youngest granddaughter out for a visit too.We wandered the island, visited all three geocaches and spent some time in the Art Gallery too.A quick check here for LyonsPride3 to sign the log and add emandel in also. The twig was sighted and removed. All good here at GZ.It looks like it was a busy day out here after we left. -----Are you coming to Canberra for Easter 2024?Join the fun at [Capital GeoBash](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC9PNFB_capital-geobash)
Signed the log (and added the previous finder's name). Hopefully one day I'll complete my 81 and remember this cache.
Decided to pop over here this arvo as the punt is only going for a few more weeks before it's autumn shut-down. Don't take any notice of the punt driver, the cache GZ isn't that hard!! I found this cache today in company of Squiptar. We had been trying to align a time to do these three caches on Herring Island for a fair while and finally, today was the day. #21669 @0835In Melbourne for a few days for work. I came equipped with a kayak, especially to grab the caches on this island. This morning was my best opportunity. The hard part was finding somewhere to launch. A quick find here after a pleasant wander around the island, which I had all to myself. TFTC. According to [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCA2WTX/73492 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") I qualified for this challenge 44 D/T loops (1 needed).
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Day 28/74, Sunday. Today I visited the lovely Herring Island. I used the punt service (it was a bit after 1 pm when I went to the island and I was 98th customer of the day and there was still time until 5 pm, so the service is definitely popular) so it was easy this time of the year. I enjoyed my day a lot. I visited all the caches and the art gallery too. I loved the place! This was a quick find in a nice place. Thank you for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Today, we wanted a family outing, and I suggested Herring Island. It's a place I've wanted to go for a long time, but just haven't got around to arranging it yet. We took the punt over and strolled around enjoying the sculptures and collecting the geocaches. Huntress may have recruited some new geocaches in the Art Gallery. Son2 tricked me with this one. While we were counting rocks, he said he had already found it. When I asked him to grab it, he laughed. Soon while I was staring at my GPSr, 999HK found this one too.Having recently completed my third and fourth DT loops, both needing a D3.5 T5, I know I have completed this challenge. I'm required in Melbourne for some work on a Monday. And I figure, that's an ideal opportunity to fly down early and spend the weekend geocaching and enjoying the suburbs. Flight delays and a well-past-midnight arrival means my start today was nowhere near as early as I'd hoped, but I'm still keen to complete as much of my plan as possible.Sometime late last year I heard about the Herring Island Sculpture Park and quickly added it to my to-do list when I next could. Then I noticed the punt across operates during the summer, which lined up perfectly. As such, it was first on this trip! After a reasonably late coffee, and a tram ride out to Williams Road, it was time to start the pedometer towards what would undoubtedly be a huge number for the day as I walked north. The punt had just dropped off a few people as I arrived and I was welcomed aboard for the short trip across this muddy boghole anabranch of the Yarra.Once safely on the island, it was time to enjoy the clockwise circuit and admire the installation artworks. It's such a lovely place here - clearly cared for and feeling a lot farther away from a global city and major roadway. There wasa good number of others out and about enjoying it also.Near GZ, some folks were sitting around and enjoying Steerage, the views and serenity. I did too join the sitting for a while as I worked out where I had to be for this geocache. It was pretty clear so I set off and ducked down out of view. A quick find and happily signed the logbook at 15:20. No BYO boat for me and at most a T2 find today. The challenge - I think a single D/T loop is a brilliant challenge. I set about mine as a personal goal long before challenges were a thing, and ended up having to travel ~1500km to Cairns to complete mine back in 2013. I think I was the second or third in Queensland to complete a D/T grid ever. I've now done 5 full loops, but lost interest with so many manufactured and "extremely optimistic" ratings out there now. But I do qualify and the checker has shown me a little green tick. Thanks for this geocache, n0w0rries
An event in Fed Square dragged me back into the city for the nth time this week, this time with buhfuhguh in tow, as we embarked on a fairly high-terrain caching day - especially peculiar given our largely urban environment! Some big targets were finally achieved with the aid of the ladder, tree fishing pole, whatever else was lying around in the car (toll road tag included), and the Herring Island punt!I've been meaning to head to Herring Island forever but have been limited chiefly by the punt's running time - I always seemed to be in the area on a summer weekday or winter weekend which yielded at most one of the two criteria required for it to be operational. But today lined up perfectly and we made it a priority to visit the island (though not before getting a bit too close to 5pm for comfort after burning most of the day reciting poetry in Docklands).---Inching ever closer to that first loop, currently sitting on 70-something at the time of signing so this'll remain a note for the time being!buhfuhguh ventured downward and made the find of this nice hide whilst I did some laps counting rocks! An interesting viewpoint from this end of the island, and it's very cool to see that sign at the end up close after having only seen it from a distance for all those years! Thanks to n0w0rries for this challenge!
13 January 2024 4:09pmDay in the city, caching with Brain before he heads up to ACT for the next 5 years... sounds good to me. Packed with many odds and ends to pick up some choice caches within the Royal Park, Docklands and Port Melbourne area, we were keen to get some fun numbers and do some research for our next caching challenge. Once again we return to Herring Island, several years and 5k finds between my last visit. This time with Brain in tow as he also wanted to cross this off his list! With ne having finished 2 loops of my DT grid I am well and truly cleared of this one! Thanks for the cache and the little adventure!

Having missed out on last year's event on this island, I had earmarked these caches and placed them on my want list. The punt hours and days, l think, have changed over the years, but finally, it's operating again, so a plan was hatched with Rebel Acts and Omegaman to venture out on a caching expedition to Herring Island. In true Melbourne fashion, the sky darkened, and the heavens opened up, but the sprinkling wasn't too bad. We had a great little walk around the island finding these 3 caches, including this challenge cache. I, for 1, was disappointed that the island was so small ( I would have enjoyed a longer walk) some very interesting history and great little punt ride. This was my biggest cache want for the day being a self-confessed challenge nut. Whether it be personal GG challenges or actually cache challenges. Cache located and signed and qualifying log attached with 2 loops, currently 2 D/T of my 3rd loop. Thanks for this challenge..awarding a fav point for challenge and location. It took me nearly 12 years to fill the matrix, but last week idid We bought a little dingey and of we went over the Yarra River...Check!
With a day free to enjoy the uncharacteristically sunny Melbourne winter weather we opted to go for a paddle and pick up a few tantalising D5s. We appreciated having the place to ourselves as we made it take longer than it needed! Went by the eyes first and then referred back to the hint and coords to hone in on a spot. We filled in our matrix a while ago and are looking forward to getting the second loop done soon with those pesky 4.5s.

I thought it would be nice to head out to this island that we haven't paddled out to for years so I gave Fleabag- the idea and the adventure was on. Today's adventure was made much easier with the punt operating so we had a nice walk around, found a couple of caches and visited the art gallery.

I had seen last night that there was a new Multi on the island and I really wanted to go out on grab it immediately but my body had other ideas due to fatigue. So with a night time paddle ruled out Mr Dromaniax and I headed that way with a couple of my kayaks to make the crossing to the island. We scored a great park nearby and unloaded the yaks ready for the short paddle across although the Yarra looked so mucky I think we could have almost walked straight across.
As we paddle up the the spot a the punt arrived to the island we were sure that someone had already been this morning as we could see the fresh muddy footprints of someone who we could only assume swam across.
While completing the stages of the new multi we thought it was a great time to grab this one as we both qualify and were at the right point no sense in having to back track later.
Thank you n0w0rries for the challenge

A Multicache on the island was published yesterday and there was talk about heading out last night for an FTF. We were out as we had just arrived home from yesterday's journey to Melbourne. A chat with Mr Sims_family and a plan was hatched to head to Melbourne this morning.
So after picking Mr Sims_family and the kayaks up, we headed into the big smoke. We arrived near the launch point and readied the kayaks. Boy, the tide was low, so it was a decent drop into the kayaks, and the Yarra looked like it was living close to its reputation of being upside down.
We made our way across the 40 meters to the Island and noticed a deep set of footprints in the mud leading up to the path. We had our suspicions, and they were soon confirmed when we became aware that we would be second to the prize.
While we were on the island it made sense that we pick up the other couple of caches on the island.
This one has been on our radar since it was published as we had completed our first loop late last year.
We checked the checker to ensure we qualified and this is what it said:

Nice surprises happen and seeing this enticing D/T cache pop up was well timed! A jolly evening was ensured when we boarded the ‘sardine’ aka the tinny Captained by Crusty and a crew that included
iTEEM for the voyage to the island which as it turned out was a relaxing circumnavigation especially since I wasn’t paddling. With no giant mozzies and good company the event was a great geoway to start 2023. Parks Vic does a great job maintaining this habitat and arty precinct so close to the burbs and CBD. The gang who journeyed to the New Years Day event arrived at GZ to sign away. Not so long ago it seems I qualified during a big 2022 so happy to log too. Thanks for the challenge, n0w0rries.

I did consider getting this one very early this morning on my way out to Skipton but decided to wait for the event tonight instead.
I headed over to the island so that I could attend the event being held here but as there weren't many at the event yet, I headed over to find this only to find that the event was here and not there, I added my name to the log and headed back to where the event is meant to be.

How do you celebrate a D5/T5 on the first day of a new year? With drinks and a let off a few flares.
Well that was the plan.
But swimming lessons got in way during the early day attempt while admiring all the flotsam and jetsam caught during the last floods.
The bananas were stone cold in our attempt to find a reasonable challenge. Not a challenge that involved a billion low hanging fruit. Just one that was "spot on" because our records say we qualify.
Just as it should be.
Well safely above the last flood level our names have been added to the not so impressive joint FTF listings amongst the crowd of an event during the evening. Thank God for small mercies.
And
Thanks n0w0rries for the great placements.
