Thankful it does not appear to be pirate season. Had the whole island to myself. Collected my clues and did another lap back to GZ. Nice quick find there. Thanks for the fun multi. A favourite point for it. [^]
A fun loop around with deanside. One of the many hordes that stumbled over to the island today. I teamed up with Posums as we ventured around. Cool place. Easy find here with others. Thanks for the fun and adventure. Fav added for the great sculptures!
What a great way to explore the island, it sure is a hidden gem. The weather was perfect this morning with the sun shining and an ever so gentle breeze blowing across. With the clues gathered it was on to GZ. After a little searching I was adding my name to the treasure. Thanks to Captain J. Flint for placing this cache.
A fun afternoon exploring the island with jaamc_3335 and getting a chance to see the sculptures which would otherwise remain a mystery to me! Thank you for holding an event and bringing us here! TFTC ??????
Beautiful island in the middle of inner city Melbourne! Its Rods fault! He made me do it! But Im so glad he did thanks for the awesome adventure ?????
An enjoyable tour of the island visiting, some, if not all of the high lights to be seen. Thanks for setting up and a fav.
Great little adventure on Herring Island today. Made a lot easier by the wobbly bridge access. Great multi. TFTC
Like a lot of other geocachers from Melbourne, we ventured to the island today and completed this awesome cache. What a great way to integrate the sculptures into the cache. Geoson and I had a blast, geodaughter and geopartner stayed atvthe eventvas she is currently incapacitated. We had problems with one of the waypoints, but a friendly geocacher soon had us right. TFTC
LVsnooks and I headed over to Herring Island for a quick caching adventure while the footbridge was in action, and picked up this cache while we were here. We happened to be in the right place at the right time to find the log appear right in front of our eyes without the need to visit any of the waypoints - one of the benefits of caching on the day of a geo event with dozens of other geocachers roaming the island TFTC
A test for my neuropathic feet to get to GZ but even if I slipped, there was not too far to fall.Good use of the island for this multi. Now it just needs an AdLab and an Earthcache! Tftc
Found in the company of the CO. We wandered the island visiting the sculptures as I collected the required information, then the cache was signed. A very enjoyable way to explore the artworks, they are all interesting and quite different than many artworks I have seen. TFTC
A great time on the island highlighting some interesting sites. So many cachers enjoying the day. Enjoyed many chats along the way. Thanks Captain J. Flint for creating for us all to enjoy. A fun day on Herring Island today. After walking around the island we started the Multi. It was a good way to get an understanding of the lie of the land.. should have done this one first! Loved the sculptures! The information was easily gathered which led us to the final location of the cache. Thanks n0w0rries for the multi
Great opportunity today to access Herring Island by temporary pontoon bridge to attend an event and locate the caches on the island. Very enjoyable exploring the island. This was our third find for the day. Enjoyed the journey it took us on around the island to locate all the required info. TFTC
Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Ten: The inner south east.Weather: a rainy end to the day.One of five caches (includes an event) found on Herring Island today thanks to the NGV fronting up the cost of a temporary floating bridge to the island. Talk about perfect timing for my this extended visit to Melbourne. The rather large number of geocachers present on the island today was taking its toll on the endpoint of this cache. The CO was present to save the day by minimising traffic and I was one of the lucky beneficiaries of this scheme. A nice walk around this island, thanks for this cache n0w0rries.
With the lure of an event on Herring Island that didn't require us to cart a kayak into the city, Chook joined forces with Sunset62 and micaparamedic, catching the train in and enjoying a leisurely walk there via a handful of caches.Once on the Island, we met up with many other likeminded geocachers on the same mission, enjoying that lovely social side of the game as we discovered each waypoint together.Thank you n0w0rries for the cache and our tour of the sights of Herring Island.
Today I planned to walkover to Herring Island for an event (not an easy task walking on water you might say) and I mentioned it to my caching buddy GemmaSistema. So a planned was hatched to catch up and do some caching before hand.I picked her up at a station and soon the day of fun and laughs started.Caches were mainly picked by if there was parking close by and also how much walking was involved. After touring the finer suburbs of Melbourne we have made it where we wanted to be and that is on an island.I mentioned that I was walking to Herring Island to my son during the week and he laughed at me.Photo was sent and the apology came.I have walked a couple of these wobbly bridges before. After a nice walk around the island we had all the clues and came up with a set of coords.Off we went and the CO turned up just to watch me fall down a hole.I retrieved the cache and left it in his capable hands to save the area from being trampled on but cache hungry folk.A fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks Captain J. Flint TFTC.
11:00It was our second visit to this intriguing island, the history and art work of which never ceases to amaze us. Today we found a couple of caches, including this one, which completed our list of Island caches. Perhaps there will be more to come - creating another visit possibility!!Toured the island collecting information that lead us to a cleverly concealed cache.A BIG thank you to the CO who placed this cache.37411
How convenient it was for the NGV to organise a temporary bridge on to the island to make getting there a whole lot easier... and how convenient it was that **ConnieandRick** took advantage of the NGV's offering and organised an Event on the island... when put together I, like many other cachers, grabbed the opportunity to wander across the water and visit the island... first visit in my case... and hunt out the caches that are there. I started with this cache and, on arriving at the final Waypoint, discovered that the CO had brought the cache out for everyone sign so that the hide didn't get trampled by the hordes!!! Thanks **n0w0rries** for the cache... and the interesting stroll around the island.
Enjoying a walk with a group & found after visiting each wp.Found it.Thanks n0w0rries for multi cache.
Having a lovely day out with Tenkae. Enjoying a walk, chat and laugh in the big smoke!Met with a group of us and the cache was soon found, name logged with a lot of othersThanks n0w0rries for showcasing this area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Taking advantage of the opportunity to walk out to to Herring Island I, like many others, did the walk on water trick then doing this cache I took a tour of many of the sculptures to answer the questions and work out the coordinates. I then joined the queue to sign the log to save wear and tear of the fragile access to the cache. Thanks for keeping this one going N0w0rries! Great fun!
I was racing the clock a bit for this as the bridge across closes at 5. But got there in the end!
We think it is safe to say that we have explored all over the Island and discovered quite a few treasures in the process. Melbourne has excelled itself with a delightful and warm sunny day when these country bumpkins came to visit. SL at 4.07pm after calculating our numbers. Left: flapper girl pathtag who could well be a lady pirate come to check Flints Treasure (or add to it!) Took: the Blue TB that has been resting here for a couple of months. #11,173 TFTMULTI n0w0rries - hopefully we will be back again for the Event tomorrow!
My buddies: CO & b@w & nirgalagrin On an unexpectedly bright sunny day, I hosted an event that I couldn't get to without the support of my Geobuddies!! They even met me at the cache. I was shown the geotrail to the cache & cih happened quickly!!Thank you n0w0rries, for creating, placing and maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.Follow my story on Instagram @AlphaDeltaIndigo
*2 Jun 2024, Found @3:29PM, Find # 3816.*Came to Herring Island earlier in the day with mazza-g to pick up a few caches before attending the event. This was a fun one that took us to a few interesting places across the island. **Thanks to n0w0rries for placing this cache.**
Ahoy, Me Hearties!Blow me down! Pirate Kristysadventures does not part with gold doubloon to board another's vessel.Kristyadventures had her deadly blood red kayak Clipper named DonnaThe foolish Hands had forgotten a Jacobs Ladder to drop down to the low tide below, so she walked the gangplank like a pirate after a barrel of rum down to the water, but she was no landlubber and her sea legs successfully balanced and boarded the Donna before she became shark bait.Aye Aye, the Hamfish had a Carouser of a buccaneers gathered on the island but they were marooned without food or ale. Hope to see you nOwOrries caching soon!
Ahoy there, mateys!Today we braved the high seas to embark on a quest for Captain Flints treasure. With a hearty Arrr! we boarded our kayaks, navigating these treacherous waters til we hit land.Upon reaching Treasure Island, we kept a low profile to avoid the watchful eyes of Flints ruffians. We made our way from the parlour of ol Ben Gunn and onto the trail, with each clue bringing us closer to the treasure. At last, we uncovered Captain Flints hidden stash! ???????Thanks for the loot, Captain J Flint, and to yer sidekick, n0w0rries.
Having successfully navigated the treacherous strait we landed safely and dry. We chatted for a bit then it was off to find Flint's Treasure. It was noisy and fun, people going off in different directions, where? who? what? We might never find the treasure at this rate. Eventually, all was clear and the treasure was found. Thanks, n0w0rries!
Today was paddle day! Who said you cant kayak in the middle of winter. I teamed up with OzHockeyChick to tackle a couple of suburban kayak caches before the main event on Herring Island this afternoon. We arrived to see a number of cachers unloading their cars and carrying their kayaks down to the landing. A bit of a drop off made for a tricky entry but we all managed to make it without getting wet.Once on the island, we gathered at the event HQ before setting off to explore the caches on offer, of which this is one!A COTY nominee! Woo hoo and congratulations. We followed the trail and collected the clues which lead this merry band of geocachers to a nicely hidden final.A big thanks goes to n0w0rries for taking the time to add Flint's Treasure Reloaded to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you ready for Victorias next big event?Join us for Victorias first ever *Block Party* to celebrate 25 years of geocaching.**When:** March 22 - 23, 2025**Where:** Hume Global Learning Centre, SunburyLog your will attend at [**GCAP417: The Sunbury Event** ](https://coord.info/GCAP417) Visit our [**Block Party website** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/the-sunbury-event) for more details on the exciting lineup of events and activities as they are released!
I came to Herring Island today with Sol de Lune. A short downstream paddle and disembarked on the northern steps. One of 5 caches out here and a reincarnation of the original cache I found here back in 2008 I think..All good here and a friends of the island clean up in full swing too..A favourite point from me..
Goodness, it's been quite a while since I was here looking for the original cache (after quite a few hiccups along the way) so with a pop-up paddling event to the island this afternoon I was keen to visit the new version. Let's just say I had a bit of help with this one, and the cache was quickly found in a familiar hiding spot TFTC, it was great to revisit Flint's Treasure Island on a surprisingly pleasant late-autumn late-afternoon
Congrats on your cache nominations in last year's COTY awards - certainly deserving! Love the stories you weave with your caches Captain J. Flint! Great adventure had today.regardskbucky fave point ??
Out to the island today for the event...and of course the caches out here. Down from Ballarat with feathertop and after a little work we were at GZ where feathertop came up with the find. Log was signed, cache replaced, and we were off to explore a little more. Thanks for this one n0w0rries....cache all good.
After the event today I wandered over and followed the geo trail to the cache. Thanks n0w0rries.GJMMelb
After the event, a few of us wandered around the island exploring all the interesting objects, gathering all the required information along the way. Before long we found the cache nicely tucked away.A fav point heading your way. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, n0w0rries ??~????????~
A nice stroll around the island. Great location. Thank you n0w0rries for placing and maintaining Flint's Treasure Reloaded for us to find today.
Came over to Herring Island with Jascat to attend a caching meet. Arrived a little earlier to complete the other caches here. This cache has us exploring the island twice over. You took us to a few great places of interest. My favourite for the day. TFTC
Use Having the opportunity to attend a T5 event here today, I did some homework and managed to calculate a feasible GZ before arriving. The benefit of this is learning more about the sculptures and the sculptors from online resources. Of course with a gaggle of geocachers on the island I still visited each waypoint to confirm my answers. The treasure was soon located and the log duly signed. TFTC, the fun adventure, and the clever use of the artworks for this multi Cap'n Flint
Found during the "Pop-up Paddle: Herring Island" event. n0w0rries, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
Never imagined Id do a winter landing! The tides and the stars aligned, the flotilla set sail (aka paddled) and then we anchored on the far off muddy shore. A top day for an early winter rendezvous with geo buddies and revisiting the islands treasures! TFTC and the fun!

*Found on the 29 Mar 2024 @ 11:29AM.**Cache find # 15555.* Mark mentioned that he was heading to Herring Island on the punt which was at the end of its season in a few days and seeing that this was a new one since I was last here, I decided that it sounded like a good idea.I headed down to Como dock and met Mark there about 10 mins later we were on the island making our way to the waypoints to collect the info needed, once that was done, we made our way to GZ, well I stopped a few metres short and Mark took the honour of finding the cache and signing the log for us both as the last couple of metres was a bit tricky for me at the moment. It was good the get back over to the island, I have been here a few times now but this was the first time I made my way to the island on the punt.**Thanks to n0w0rries for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
**29/03/2024, 11:30:00****Find #5730****Multi Find #467**I'd been wanting to do the three caches on Herring Island for quite some time. Yesterday I realised that the punt would stop running after this Monday. Easter had crept up on me without me noticing. [:o)]I decided Good Friday would be a good day to attempt them as the roads should be quieter than usual, at least early in the morning. I couldn't get a park when I arrived around 9:00am so I went to the Shrine to do the earth cache there. When I returned, there was ample parking. SteMicMitSar joined me around 10:45am and we made our way over to the island. We both like Multi's and had no real trouble with this one except we had to manipulate our co-ords to get the checksums to agree.Ultimately, we backed ourselves and made our way to our calculated GZ where a quick find was made. **Thank-you to n0w0rries for placing this geocache**
A small group of us decided to hit Herring Island on this beautiful Autumnal day. The group consisted of McLookers, Muzza, maccamob, Team Crackers and myself, micaparamedic. We were there for the first punt of the day but only a few of us made it on. With only 12 passengers each trip and a large contingent of South Korean tourists pushing and shoving to get on, Spook and I missed out on the first trip. Finally, Spook and I arrived on the island, the others were waiting for us on the other side. A pleasant wander around the island saw us finding all the available caches today. Some, including myself, had been on the island previously with a few finds already logged. Thanks Captain J. Flint for placing this Multi-cache, enhancing the game board and adding to our enjoyment.
Found by Mary and David at 11:35. What a wonderful multi. Saw much of the Island as we visited the various stages. We found the original Flint's Treasure on 8th November 2002! Discovered "Olivandys 500th find - Milestone Tag". Gets a FP from us. Our thanks to n0w0rries.
We had planned this outing to meet up with McLookers, micaparamedic, maccamob & Muzzato visit Herring Island.Once on the island it didn't take too long before we started collecting the clues andwith the good humored banter going on it didn't seem to take too long before we had all the required information. We then headed off to gz where Muzza made the find and had the cache in hand before we even got there so all that was left to do was to add our name to the log. Many thanks for bringing us back to this very interesting island and for the cache hide.
Catching the ferry across with our convoy of maccamob, Crackers, micaparamedic and Muzza, we very much enjoyed this tour of the island. We had lots of laughs while gathering all the people info. Great multi, a favourite from me. Left a TB.Thanks for the cache n0w0rries.
I met up with McLookers, Micaparamedic, Maccamob and Team Crackers to make the trip to the island before the punt shuts down for a while. This was the first of the two I needed to find. We enjoyed the trip around the island gathering the answers and then headed to GZ for a quick find. Thanks to Captain J. Flint (n0w0rries) for the cache and the tour of the island.
Dad invited us to join him on a maintenance run out here on Herring Island. We gratefully accepted and picked him up on our way through.A fun excursion for all the family.Little Charlotte had a great time in the art gallery and running around on the island. All the waypoints were visited and the cache was found. Log signed. Everything in good order here.Charlotte loved the smiley face badge the Granddad found in his caching bag.
Visiting my old home city from Sydney, took the punt out to get the D/T caches that I'd had my eyes on for a while. Had a nice hour or so on the island.Got the tour of the island collecting the info for this. My final coords felt slightly sketchy but they were right, no problem with the find. TFTC
Spent just over an hour on the island and had a great time. Thanks for the checksum, as my calcs weren't too hot to start with! I've vowed to do a multi on each day I cache, and after a 2 hour failure at Mount Everlyn yesterday, at least today I had sucess. The themed multi gets a FP from me.
Backlog. Found this one with Emandel and a muggle friend from Holland. We brought our own floating devices to make it to the island. The seafaring Dutchman and I had the kayaks while Emandel was left with the standup paddle board. After we logged the cache, we pretty much abandoned Emandel since he was too slow with his board (no hard feelings), and the kayaker continued our way upstream for another 5 km.
I found this cache today in company of Squiptar. We had been trying to align a time to do these three caches on Herring Island for a fair while and finally, today was the day. After finding the other two caches on the island, we worked our way through the points and soon had the final in hand. It was 19 years ago since we completed the original cache so it was a treat to go over the area again today. Thanks from D B-A
Waited half an hour for the punt ferry, then ran around to the hide and got this one knocked out. Thanks for the adventurePika 24/2/24
#21670 @0840In Melbourne for a few days for work. I came equipped with a kayak, especially to grab the caches on this island. This morning was my best opportunity. The hard part was finding somewhere to launch. A quick find here after a pleasant wander around the island collecting the information. I had the island all to myself. TFTC.
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Day 28/74, Sunday. Today I visited the lovely Herring Island. I used the punt service (it was a bit after 1 pm when I went to the island and I was 98th customer of the day and there was still time until 5 pm, so the service is definitely popular) so it was easy this time of the year. I enjoyed my day a lot. I visited all the caches and the art gallery too. I loved the place! This was a very nice multi cache - straightforward from the start to the end. Thank you for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Logged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).
Today, we wanted a family outing, and I suggested Herring Island. It's a place I've wanted to go for a long time, but I just haven't got around to arranging it yet. We took the punt over and strolled around, enjoying the sculptures and collecting the geocaches. Huntress may have recruited some new geocaches in the Art Gallery. We enjoyed strolling around collecting these clues, especially since we were coming to these locations anyway. Once at GZ, I tried not slipping down the edge again, and got to the final in one piece. Thanks for the cache, n0w0rries.Hunter
I've been meaning to explore Herring Island for a couple of years but I've never been in the area the infrequent time the punt is running. Today with a free morning and a perfect summers day it was the optimum time for a wander. Got lucky with the waypoints as the cache was only a short walk away from where I did the final calculation. Thanks for the adventure Captain!
What a great little multi. We even spent a bit of time at the gallery. There is a small history room there which was very thought provoking. Especially after all the recent issues concerning Australia Day Celebrations.TFTC
I've been eyeing off this island and its caches for a while, and finally decided to check them out today due to the public holiday. After a lovely walk around the island, the cache was quickly located and the logbook signed. All is in good condition. Fave point from me. TFTC
I had been wanting to get across the Herring Island for a while, and today was pretty much free. I visited each waypoint and managed to cobble together some coordinates. The cache was found in the expected location, i.e. on the island. This was most enjoyable, and there was an art show on there as well, which was an unexpected bonus.
I'm required in Melbourne for some work on a Monday. And I figure, that's an ideal opportunity to fly down early and spend the weekend geocaching and enjoying the suburbs. Flight delays and a well-past-midnight arrival means my start today was nowhere near as early as I'd hoped, but I'm still keen to complete as much of my plan as possible.Sometime late last year I heard about the Herring Island Sculpture Park and quickly added it to my to-do list when I next could. Then I noticed the punt across operates during the summer, which lined up perfectly. As such, it was the first on this trip! After a reasonably late coffee and a tram ride out to Williams Road, it was time to start the pedometer towards what would undoubtedly be a huge number for the day as I walked north. The punt had just dropped off a few people as I arrived and I was welcomed aboard for the short trip across this muddy boghole anabranch of the Yarra. The geocaches on the island hadn't had much attention from me, but of course, there would be some. And I really liked the idea of this multicache tour. Either way, I had embarked on a clockwise trek among the sculptures, so it wasn't much more effort to make a few notes and write down some answers as I went.Just delightful, seeing the installation artworks, and plenty of people out picnicking and enjoying this space. It's a bit special to have so close to a major city! I did regret not bringing my own picnic actually! I also had the guide on my phone, so nice to have extra information as I went.Overall I think my favourite piece was Stone House - for reasons that I don't know other than "I liked it". Eventually, I had some good co-ordinates and with a little hop up over a berm, made a quick find at 15:35. I was amused to see there were signatures already in the logbook from today. Thanks for this geocache, n0w0rries
Avast ye- me hearties and listen to this tale so true.Be it this day, a swash buckler and her old salt set sail fer Treasure Island, hoisting the Black Jack and Jolly Roger to ward those lily livered scallywags guarding Flint's Treasure. We loosed anchor a fairs way from thee island lest those scallywags scuttle our Galleon.Me first mate dalerious and I traversed the murky waters and made land fall in search of the booty. He with his cutlass, and me's with the cat nine tails at the ready, for we were not here to parley.Me mate and me was here to hornswaggle Flint's crew.Well those scurvy dogs were all four sheets to the wind, and lay curled up with their lads and lasses. With the Treasure got we set sail with myrrh and merriment, and we not dance the hempen jig tonight. We thank ye Captain J Flint fer being the Captain of such bilge sucking crew.Favourite, not quarter given!
Aye. Tis true n all tha both catnap777 an me own self were there almost privy to witness Flints Crew lay down this very trail n all. Twas the eve of the new year last an while we was more n occupied wit gettin our land legs back, n findin tha brand new D5 treasure afore the getherin of fellow pirates an scallywags fer the T/5 event, we be sure there were other hornswagglin games afoot. An now here we be again. This time with treasure map in hand. Captain Flints Sea Chest beonly small, but its wondrous booty be known to us now and proved to all with our "X" marking the spot. TFTTreasure Captain. Here twas but the launch of a wondrous voyage asail from Herring Island, around the Horn of Bolte's column and back again against an ebb tide and head wind on our return journey all under the paddle of our fleet of 2 tiny craft.
An event in Fed Square dragged me back into the city for the nth time this week, this time with buhfuhguh in tow, as we embarked on a fairly high-terrain caching day - especially peculiar given our largely urban environment! Some big targets were finally achieved with the aid of the ladder, tree fishing pole, whatever else was lying around in the car (toll road tag included), and the Herring Island punt!I've been meaning to head to Herring Island forever but have been limited chiefly by the punt's running time - I always seemed to be in the area on a summer weekday or winter weekend which yielded at most one of the two criteria required for it to be operational. But today lined up perfectly and we made it a priority to visit the island (though not before getting a bit too close to 5pm for comfort after burning most of the day reciting poetry in Docklands). This multi led us on an enjoyable ramble down the various trails of the island as we discovered several sculptures whilst following the Captain's orders!Numbers were straightforward to collect, and the order in which we did them meant that we wound up finishing at the waypoint closest to the final as I'd predicted. One slightly sketchy scramble down to gz later and the logbook was in my hands!A very fitting tribute to the original and a welcome addition to the adventures on Herring Island! Thanks to n0w0rries for setting up this multi!
13 January 2024 4:21pmDay in the city, caching with Brain before he heads up to ACT for the next 5 years... sounds good to me. Packed with many odds and ends to pick up some choice caches within the Royal Park, Docklands and Port Melbourne area, we were keen to get some fun numbers and do some research for our next caching challenge. Once again we return to Herring Island, several years and 5k finds between my last visit. This time with Brain in tow as he also wanted to cross this off his list!
Omegaman1971Support Your Local Villain Live - Laugh - Lurk First To Find: 149Sidetracked Cache Finds: 118In the city for an event at Federation Square today and hopefully, put some smiles on the map. Always great to be out caching but even better when doing it with geo friends. This is one of the caches we successfully found today, Cheers for the cache.
Having missed out on last year's event on this island, I had earmarked these caches and placed them on my want list. The punt hours and days, l think, have changed over the years, but finally, it's operating again, so a plan was hatched with Rebel Acts and Omegaman to venture out on a caching expedition to Herring Island. In true Melbourne fashion, the sky darkened, and the heavens opened up, but the sprinkling wasn't too bad. We had a great little walk around the island finding these 3 caches, including this multi. I for 1 was disappointed that the island was so small, (would have enjoyed a longer walk) some very interesting history and great little punt ride.
Out and about with My good caching friends Omegaman1971 and tiz13, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles. This is one of the caches found today. we have had a trip to the island on our to do list for sometime and today we finally made it, it was a quicker walk around than we thought. I worked the numbers out from home so it was straight to GZ for the find. Thanks n0w0rries for the cache.
With a few days off after the start of the new year an arrangement was made, with teamMerlin, to attempt to do some caches in Ballarat including the D/T Matrix Challenge cache. With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache Captain J FlintThe following TBs visited for the distance - Adventures with softball 29 and Harper, Govenor Lachlan Macquarie, Hawkesbury Tiger, phlphotos 2011 - 2023 NSW geocoin, phlphotos Cache In Trash Out Geocoin, phlphotos Cache In Trash Out Tag, phlphotos CITO Leaf Nano Geocoin, phlphotos CITO Micro Geocoin, phlphotos - CITO 2019 - 2022 Coin, phlphotos Four Elements Geocoin, phlphotos Optical Illusion Geocoin, phlphotos Spindoc Bob Memorial Geocoin, phlphotos Wheel of Caching Geocoin and phls silver ride
With a spare day dedicated to caching with phlphotos, we set off early after organising a TOTT to get us over to the Island. All caches found to be in good condition. After signing the log we replaced everything as found. We bought a little dingey and of we went over the Yarra River.Thnx for showing us the Herring Island...Check!
We never had the chance to do the original by Biggles so we're glad that this tribute cache has been created. We were marooned on the island by ourselves today with ne're a parrot in sight. Using our trusty compass we followed the clues on the map and with a check of the sums, found the booty! Yo ho yo ho, a pirates life for me. TFTC
A trip to town and beyond. The SS inflatable T5 was packed and put to use again for these ones on the island. Lowish water levels made for a quick but muddy landing.
While heading to the two other caches we gathered the missing clue information, did the substitution and headed to GZ for a quick find. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

Definitely a landlubber, afraid to get my peg leg wet and so I stowed away aboard the punt seeking my fame and fortune.
Was an auspicious day as I left my birthday candles at home before riding my black horse to the vicinity.
A couple of small problems following instructions had me worrying I would be required to swab the decks, but all was good and eventually the booty was mine!

I have had my eye on this island for a while.
Knowing that the free punt was on it's final week for the year, as we will be away next weekend, and knowing that was our best chance of getting over there we weren't going to miss the opportunity.
My sister and her husband are staying with us, so what a great outing for the day.
We took the punt across and explored every part of the island, including the gallery which was open and very enjoyable.
Great to see this cache has been reloaded. We enjoyed the boat ride, the island, the gallery and all of the waypoints. We got in a mess at the coracle, but fortunately the checksum helped us out.
Thanks Captain Flint for 'reloading' this cache and bringing it back to life.
A great day out. Favourite point awarded.

Aye Cap’n Flint, he be a hard man. Hard, like… flint. Me, not so much. But rock doesn’t beat rock. Paper beats rock, and I am paper. And now I’ve filled my boots with Flint’s loot. ‘Twas a hoot. Thanks n0w0rries for the bounty.
Bunadoorian and I enjoyed our trip to Herring Island today. We enjoyed walking around the Island gathering the required information and viewing the sculptures along the way. Once we had all the information we sat down and calculated GZ. Checksum tick so all good to go and find the cache. I found the cache first and signed us in. TFTC and for bringing us here Captain J. Flint
After a detailed viewing of most of the sculptures Grub62 did the calculations and we wandered off to GZ. We were able to find the cache without as much difficulty as some of the difficulty 5 caches and seeing as it was only Grub62 and myself without any other assistance I was quite pleased with our efforts. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
I convinced my sister, Pinkimbo, to accompany me and the youngest kid on a spur of the moment excursion to Herring Island. NoW0rries had told me about these caches when we met up at a CITO recently and I was keen to find them before the punt stops operating for another year after Easter. My sense of direction is terrible so everyone finds it hilarious the I lack a critical skill for my chosen hobby. I really lost my way around this island. It's tiny and I always turned the wrong way when visiting the WPs . Somehow we managed to scrounge up a decent GZ and my sister was shocked when we made a quick find!
Loved exploring this island to answer all the questions and find the coordinates!

Arrrh! Mighty bounty ye have gathered here ye scallywag! Travelled he’re on rough open seas of the Yarra. Trekk’d ye wild trails of ye Herring! And still survived to tell ye about it!
Heading home from a week away, including time at the Avalon Airshow. Paddled across. Enjoyed looking at the Capn Flint's wreckage. TFTC Capn
DNF. Visited the island via the punt on a glorious sunny day. Got all the clues but the Cairn had me confused. Didn't have enough time to recheck it, so we left. We'll be back
We were very grateful that the challenges/WP did not include counting the ribs on the beached whale! TFTC, a great spot to explore
I thought it would be nice to head out to this island that we haven't paddled out to for years so I gave Fleabag- the idea and the adventure was on. Today's adventure was made much easier with the punt operating so we had a nice walk around, found a couple of caches and visited the art gallery.
I did do the previous one of these caches and I remember after we parked the kayak and did the multi the cache ended up being 5m from our kayak!
Thanks n0w0rries for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
