Great spot, on way to Methven had to stop at the gorge. Rain did not put me off, will be back on a sunny day to grab the rest! Tftc
After a frosty start to the day it was perfect winter weather to go for a drive and find a few caches. Enjoyed the views and the short stroll to the cache. Found in the first place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
A nice quick find. The river looks cold today, no boats either! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are off for a day trip through to Methven. Such a lovely winters day for a drive, with the mountains looking great (though not for skiers!).Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
A sweet place to return to. I had forgotten that the Taniwha was made by Hannah Kidd so that was another good feeling to add to the cache find. I was going to add a picture of a piece of her work but it's so varied that it's hard to choose. Thank you Jude_E
Gevonden samen met Bald Eagle op onze trip door Nieuw Zeeland op 18 mrt. 2024 17:58. Dank je wel Jude_E voor deze cache. Groetjes van mij 1668 uit Eindhoven
Thanks for the cache Jude E. Learnt a little about the history here and enjoyed the stop with muggle Kevy as he had never explored this area. We walked up to the top and really enjoyed the views. Thank you for bringing us here today
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a warm norwest day as we head towards Methven via Rakaia Gorge and various caches.Liked the sculpture, especially seeing it from the back (i.e. coming back to the car park). SW got to GZ first and had found the cache by the time I caught up. Used the handy nearby seat to do the paperwork. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
#23504. We'd drive past the caches south of the river a few times. Today we had time to stop and look for them. We enjoyed the short walk to GZ (nice Taniwha sculpture, and good views), and I made a quick find once there. Thanks for the cache and interesting info in the description.
Taking a long walk with my daughter in the gorge today. Weather is not great, very windy, but at least dry. We did the whole loop, very beautiful track and views. And of course scored a few caches along the way Nice quick find thanks to hint!
During our trip around NZ we also visited this valley. We found several caches here. Thank you.
I wasn't aware one could park down here and walk up. River was its magic blue colour.
Another smile from a remembered spot! It doesn't matter, the story is worth it . Met a delightful young man doing some track checking and told him about geocaching, he has frequently been asked "what is this?" and he knew they were geocaches but knew very little about the pastime. Placed some black tape around a very white container to give some camo! also put some swaps in. TFTC and taking me back there. Really enjoyed it. {8D]
Lovely wee track we enjoyed here with interesting info to read. Cache found, log signed. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache Jude_E.
Quick weekend trip to the west coast, time for a couple of caches on the way over, got to beat the road closures. - Thanks Bitsprayer
What a nice place:) we were looking at the wrong spot at first, but once we found the right place it was a quick findTFTC kaylina22
A lovely walk to this one and some great views on the way. Thank you for the info and setting this one up. TFTH
The task today was to find a multicache so I elected to have a big day out caching out Methven. My first stop was to visit The Tanwha. I can vaguely recall walking up this track once before but could not see any "finds" showing on my gps map. Had I been seeking a cache on that occasion and not found one? Quick find of this cache today, as the camo paint has largely flaked off making the container quite visible. TFTC Jude_E
Out for a drive around the area. Quick find and then we had a nice walk down to the river. TFTC.
I really like this sculpture. Second visit for me. Found the cache very exposed as it's host is disintegrating a lot. Have left it covered so hopefully it stays that way for the next finder to pass this way. TFTC # 19,703
Forgot there is close by car parking, not that I had to walk very far to access the track. The cache is dry and in good condition; TFTC
One of several caches we located on our way from Christchurch to Tekapo today. A reasonably quick find. Good to walk to this point, a great setting. #6017. TFTC.
We have arranged to meet Beeba at Awa Awa for lunch and we have some dahlias for Dad. But as Beeba is still geocaching in Hororata we had time to continue on to this cache at Rakaia Gorge. We passed Beeba as she was going up the hill and we were going down. She forgot to stop for this one. If she had, we would have met in the car park. The cache was quickly found as we had found the PWGT cache that was here previously. Looks like we were 3TF.
A good opportunity to stretch our legs and admire the view. Interesting information panel. TFTC
[FTF]. Lovely day for a drive so checked caches to do and there were some FTF’s available. Why not I thought. So here I am out enjoying the countryside. Even picked up a muggle doing the Te Araroa trail and dropped in Methven
Oh bother back to car for my pen. Signed and returned. Oh well extra steps taken.
