It's been a while since I've done a proper bike ride, so today I equipped the water bladder, proper backpack, properly pumped up the tires, and out I go!Out and about around Geoscience Australia. It's been a while since I've visited here, but I swear I came here for a school trip in Yr 8? I have no firm recollection but the sense of deja vu with the exhibits and the images of my classmates being here is strong. Who knows? I might actually go ask them since I genuinely don't know the answer lol.As for this cache, I headed out the back exit and a short wander had me at GZ. Something caught my eye and upon investigating it turned out to be the cache. Another great one from this CO! Had a lovely bench to sign the cache before returning the goods and continuing. Thanks for the great hide The Farmers 5!

Ever since I experienced an earthquake just before Easter I have wanted to visit geoscience Australia. During the mega I never ended up getting here so today I took advantage of an early morning visit on a Monday morning. The earthquake i experienced wasnt too bad, just a vibration felt in the house really, but it was definitely felt by everyone home at the time. Thanks for placing this geocache here. Ive uploaded the screengrab from my earth.TFTC

I joined DARKSIDEDAN and Cappel for a Friday night out on the town. OK, so we actually went geocaching We walked for just over three hours and got about a dozen caches. It was loads of fun and we had some good talks along the way. I grabbed a KFC burger on the way home, and now I need to log these quickly so that I can get plenty of sleep before tomorrow's Gibraltar Rock adventure! This was an easy find. I looked right at the thing as I walked up, but dismissed it because it was so bold. Then I recalled that permission had been given to hide this here, and suddenly it all made sense! Thanks for the cache, The Farmers 5

Im on AL from work and decided to spend a couple days in Canberra. Today was day two of three and of course I spent it Geocaching. After the massive (and sleepless) long weekend, I decided to have a sleep in and have a late start. Once I finally got started, I headed over to the Geoscience Centre, to find the caches around there. Afterwards, I found a couple of others that are were only a short drive away before heading off to lunch. Next, I headed into Fyshwick, so I could go to Koorong and use my gift voucher. After that, I looked at the map and decided on heading over to Majura Pkwy, so I could find a few more along the bike trail. I have done most of the trail already. Today, I managed to avenge a past DNF and find a few others ending with #10. After finding #10, it was starting to rain more then I was comfortable with, so I decided to call it quits for today. So the only caches left for me to find along the trail is #1 to #9. Now back to the motel and to get out of the rain. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. Big Grin TFTCs! Big GrinInteresting, I never knew that this BBQ area existed and what a great way to highlight it with a cache. On approached, I discovered a likely (but in this case, mostly incorrect) GZ. After searching in the wrong spots for a few moments, I turned around and that is when I spotted the cache. This one took a lot less time to find then the last cache. Thanks for highlighting the area and now off to the next one. Big Grin

#19492 - 9:13:00 AM; Another day in a busy Easter weekend as Geobash 2024 brings plenty of cachers from near and far to Canberra. Picked up Sol de lune for an early event, then we were on our way to pick up a few more southside caches before I had to head home for family functions. A short hunt saw the cache reveal itself and with a little effort, we accessed the log and added our names. TFTC The Farmers 5 Smile

Thanks for the cache The Farmers 5.In Canberra for Easter to do some geocaching as part of the mega Geobash event and to visit my son. I loved the Geoscience Australia tour. I did one year of Geology at Uni, so have a little bit of interest in geology, so was really looking forward to the tour and it did not disappoint. During the timewalk, we were able to stop and find a few geocaches. This one was found after the tour as we took a leisurely walk around the grounds.

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we joined the excellent Geoscience Australia Tour for a lecture, behind the scenes look at the mineral and fossil collection workshop and an educational guided walk along the Geological Timewalk. Whilst there, we completed an AL and made sure to find all the nearby caches. A most enjoyable way to spend the day. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us and adding to our enjoyment.

Attended a fascinating tour of Geoscience Australia this morning, taking in features both inside and outside the building. After the tour, and after re-fuelling at the onsite cafe, I slipped outside to take a look for this cache. Soon had my name in the log and retreated back inside out of the heat! Thanks for the cache, Farmers 5!

I was visiting for a geobash sample tour and knowing I would be racing back to work, took the few minutes spare to come find this cache first. It was spotted quickly and took a few minutes longer to access, but we got there. So pleased to have come today, as the special tour took us into out of public areas as we explored fossils, gems, minerals and the geological evolution. The enthusiasm and knowledge of our passionate guides made for an entertaining and educational morning that was very enjoyable. Thanks for the cache.

Nifty find with DARKSIDEDAN after the earthcache nearby. Very nicely done The Farmers 5 - thanks for bringing us around the other side of the building (and also giving us a chance to watch a new learner driver doing some practice laps of the carpark) Smile--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. Out with Dty73 and Tankengine on a blustery winter day. Quick find as Tankengine had been there before. Kutgw

20-Jul-23
Out and about with Youban and Tankengine on a chilly day. It’s hard to find caches that Tankengine hasn’t found already, but luckily a few new caches have come out recently so those were our main targets. Luckily for Youban who hasn’t done much around town at all, so got a few extra bonus caches that we were close by to as well.

This cache: thankfully just before lunch there was no one around. As I came around the corner, I spied something that looked not quite right. Thankfully I had Tankengine with me though because I needed a little muscle. Signed and replaced then off to the next one. Tftc!!!

I had a medical appointment this afternoon so fitzy_1965 came in with me to keep me company.

When the appointment finished early unexpectedly, we decided to head out for a bit of caching to fill in the extra time we had.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise stated.

31,908. Found with minniek after some domestics carried out in Canberra.

It's a small world. We headed off to do a medical domestic chore - and bumped into a fellow Cacher - lol. Once that chore was over much quicker than anticipated, we went and found a few caches for minniek's calendar challenge. Hume and Fyshwick were our target area today. This one was a very quick find as it should be for a seasoned Cacher. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to another opportunistic cache out this way.

Thanks The Farmers 5 !!

With some help from F5 we got it done
Finally!
Thanks for the cache
Sunday arvo was quiet and good to not get caught

16-Apr-23
Ducked out with Baristayan at three quarter time between the Geelong and West Coast game, and headed for this relatively newly placed cache.

Took us a while! And a hint which came through roughly around the time I returned to somewhere I’d already looked at, but just not well enough.

Typically crafty from this CO, who possesses some serious creativity! Thanks for the cache as always

14-Apr-23
Where else would a science teacher go on holiday?
To Geoscience Australia, of course!
A lovely cache in a brilliant location and a chat with a muggle who just found a new hobby.
Thanks so much for a brilliant cache.

04-Apr-23
Found with Czechboy14 and MilesMorales2. Only one time to find this cache, when no one else is about. Fortunately this was one of those times, not a soul to be seen, and only one other car in the carpark.

Parked most conveniently and wandered straight up to GZ. Spotted the cache within seconds, ah good old modus operandi.

Signed and replaced as found we were quickly on our merry way. TNLNSL TFTC

27-Mar-23
Sneaky, lovely and bold!
We arrived on a weekday afternoon to find a nearby car park very full.
We also noticed that all the barbecues are out of action at the moment. Hopefully that will change soon.
Onto the search, and knowing the devious ways of this CO, we surveyed our surroundings, and soon spotted something a little out of the ordinary.
Nice!
Log signed, and no-one the wiser!
Thanks The Farmers 5

Woohoo!!! [FTF] @ 12:38pm!!! 'Twas chilling at home when this one came out. Got the crocs on and drove over for a quick find in a very quiet area. Great hide, and great to see the blank logbook. Love the Geoscience exhibits, very cool place! TFTC TF5!

26-Mar-23
A fast-finishing second-to-find here. The carpark was almost bereft of vehicles when I arrived, with just the faint tinge of burnt rubber from Toy Hunters' extremely quick arrival and departure on the air.

A nice quick find here with a cache extremely consistent with the CO's modus operandi. Certainly Sunday's a good day to get this rather than in the middle of the workday!

After signing the log I took then opportunity to wander around the nice timewalk on the other side of the building and gathered the data for the earthcache.

Thanks, Farmers 5!
