When we arrived at the parking area there was a large school group from St Kentigerns stood with a local guide, so we sneaked past them and headed to the cache. We had just found it when we heard them coming so we moved a bit further into the bush until it was clear.

Smile Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we had been down in Wellington for a few days & were now heading North again decided wed stop here in National Park & clean up some caches in the area we had to go for a drive around the roads in the area to see what we could find drove in here to parking lot, found the answers & then off to find the cache it was found easily enough, container & contents are both in good condition, signed the logbook & returned it to its location were pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... Happy to find this one on the way back down from te kootis last stand. I had a brief look for it on the way up but for some reason found it much more straightforward on the way back. Helpful hint, TFTC

Good to see this one resurrected after the Tour, a worthy site and place of interest. Redid the numbers while an older couple sunbathed, he was topless, she was just snoozing. All good at calculated GZ , grabbed the TB and pathtag.

In the area with LionFish on a gorgeous sunny day. Lovely scenic spot with interesting history. Hard to imagine people fighting here while we listen to the birds and the river. TFTC

Although I have been caching for a number of years, there are still a few spots left on the calendar that I haven't cached on. Today was one of them. I drive past here almost daily, sometimes more, so I know the area and like the other finders have knocked off one or two caches in this location before. Nice multi to complete and awesome to see the ammo can as the container.Cheers

After parking up my snail shell at National Park a couple of days ago I decided to go along SH47 to locate and sign off a few caches.I remember coming here two times previously. Both of those it took me a while to find the cache but not this time.Cheers for the cache, GSEL.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… We happened to cast a wary caching eye southward (Turangi) and our alarm bells started ringing. There seems to have been a mini explosion of new caches down yonder way, so the time is right for a visit.

We’ve found this multi a few times over the course of its reinventions. Oddly enough, I’ve not actually found this hide on my own - I’ve always been with others when they located the final. Could I break the hoodoo and find the cache today? Another hard NO… Gap did! Thanks GSEL. TFTC.

thanks again for the visit to this piece of NZ history.

We dont often log caches visited, but given its blue switch day and this is a prwtty cool cache - we always love big ammo cans - we thought we would log this [FTF] with FMZ and Punga and Paua. Got the find done and back to the car just before a heavier rain shower. TFTC!!!

Saw this come out last night but decided to wait for morning for a quick pre work cache dash. A bit misty and wet this morning but had a brief but nicely timed window between showers to grab the cache find. Nice quick find with Punga and Paua and also representing geocoins.nz for the joint [FTF] TFTC!!!

Yep, a very strong sense of deja vu.... A quick find with FMZ and a joint FTF on a dismal grey morning, looks like more rain to come so we quickly signed in and moved on. TFTC.
