I do not do well with the Australian Summer heat, especially when the temperature jumps from 20C to 34C from one day to the next. So with the sudden heat wave we were experiencing, I knew I wasn't going to be able to be outside for very long. However, I finally got off work on time and so it felt like it would be a waste to not get out and find at least a cache or two. Well I have currently been attempting to find more **"Other"** size caches, in order to work on qualifying for one of [DARKSIDEDAN's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=2a2a54fb-66e6-4b02-ad79-fae27aa04984&wid=d76ce52b-99f9-47c6-b3ec-151b8ca2715d&ds=2) challenge caches, [CHALLENGE - The Odd-sized Cacher - Gold (GC93XJD)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC93XJD).So in order to try and minimise my exposure to the heat, I decided to try and target some **"Other"** size caches, that were low difficulties and only short distances away from where I could park the geomobile. That is when I spotted this one and it looked like the perfect target for today. So after work I hopped in the geomobile and made my way to GZ. I was able to find a spot to park the geomobile, right near GZ before I hopped out my A/C and got to work attempting to find the cache. Well my phone did not want to cooperate with me today, and sent me looking at various beacons a few meters away. However, eventually I just put down the phone and let my geosenses kick in, and once I finally trusted them, the cache was quickly found a short time afterwards. So I quickly signed the log and then retreated back to the comfort of the geomobile and the A/C.A big thanks goes to [crank1](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=9eac9007-7d9a-4dd1-89f0-db377835c426&wid=4a13e175-f729-488b-9c55-ce37af7c3885&ds=2) for the fun hide today. I will have to come back for the rest of the trail when it is a bit cooler. TFTC.**Cache Maintenance Status:**It was a bit hard to tell, but the paint or the colouring on the cache container appears to have cracked off making it a bit more obvious to see. The attachment mechanism, however still seemed strong. The logbook was also dry today, but does appear as it may have gotten wet in the past as a lot of names appear to have been faded or washed off, making it a bit tough to tell if I was accidentally resigning over a previous finders name.

Out and about with TanSaf today caching along the Hallam Valley Trail. We parked nearby and the weather looked foreboding but we managed to collect a few caches before the rain set in. I had seen this type of cache before so it was a welcome quick find as the rain had started. Thanks crank1 for placing the cache.

05-Sep-24
The planned day of caching with Skylizard was looking doubtful due to the weather but we decided to brave it. This great trail was the plan. We got most before the rain set in. With the weather deteriorating the find was made. A nice variation in cache type. TFTC

21-Jul-24
Catching up on some old logs, I remember on a previous adventure on this series for the previous FTF that was up for grabs but subsequently missing this one, ah well... streak fodder it is. With a rather busy day at work and needing to head to a tournament, I spotted this one and knew it was the one to cross of my list for the day. Arriving at GZ I was pleasantly surprised how quick it was all in all to spot with where it was hidden, ah well another find for the streak. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

#4641Brought the dogs down here for a run around, they got very wet from the recent rain but they enjoyed themselves. A quick find here. Thanks for the cache.

26-Jun-24
#6538.I had some time to attempt this series on a cool and windy morning. I came prepared with the right clothing. The best thing about this weather is it keeps people from venturing outdoors. I had a good day with very few muggles and no DNF's. Thanks for this great series and for keeping the caches alive.

Not here

11-Apr-24
Today Cooper from fisherfamfive and I were out on a quest for some caches in the Hampton Park area. No good here today, we searched all the logical spots quite meticulously but unfortunately turned up nothing. Our initial idea of its potential location was thwarted by the presence of sealant so that was quickly discarded, but the other spots we searched seemed no better either. We will be back for another look

11-Apr-24
This cache proved to be quite a headscratcher. With all of the information in the description, previous logs and hint, we searched all of the possible locations we thought it could be in to no avail. The other disheartening thing was that some of the other locations had been sealed shut, leaving us wondering whether the cache was indeed in one of those spots. Another one we will keep an eye on.

I dropped by today to collect this replacement cache. I spent way too long checking out the tree and trying to work out what the hint meant. After a little bit of effort, I found the cache neatly tucked away. The cache is in excellent condition and ready for the next people to find. Thanks!

Found with LittleBoss2 on our week in Rye. Yesterday's caches were so good, we thought we'd head back up the highway for another long walk. All these caches were in good order with great coords. What an amazing series of caches in a beautiful area. Our sincere thanks to Crank 1 for all the time and effort in placing and maintaining them

07-Jan-24
Found on a beautiful wet Sunday afternoon of a Melbourne summer. Not a problem with the ants today. This was one of the series we hadnt got the revised version of.

04-Jan-24
*Found on the 4 Jan 2024 @ 2:11pm.**Cache find # 15453.* As I was over this way, I decided to find the caches that I would normally drive by when on my way to somewhere else but today I wasnt going somewhere else and these caches were stopped at for a look.I had completed this trail some time ago but has since reappeared so today was a good day to finally clear it off the map.I made my way to GZ where I was able to make a quick find, the only thing was that the ants were not very happy with me when I removed the cache to sign the log, there are a lot of them.**Thanks to crank1 for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**

So many ants TFTC

### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUESTED PLEASE** ###

----------

Hi there crank1,

It looks like this cache might need some attention, as one or more seekers have indicated there is some sort of issue. The recent logs may contain more details about what sort of issues are evident.

The cache has been [**temporarily disabled**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235), so as to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location, until the issues/s can be addressed.

**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days,** so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.

#What you need to do:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-

- **Check On The Cache** - once checked, place an Owner Maintenance log and then enable the cache.

- **Place A Write Note Log** - indicating a date when you expect it will be restored.

- **Adopt Out or Archive** - depending on whether you want it kept or for it to disappear.

Full details for each of the above choices can be found at [**GEOCACHE MAINTENANCE**]( https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/Victoria) on the Regional Policies page.

You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, when the cache is next checked by a Reviewer, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned. Twisted

It would be far better if you decide, so please do something before then. Please don't send an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

Thanks for your cooperation,

Bunjil (Pete & Helen)

We had been here once before, but there was one hole in our line of smileys.
Today we corrected that when we found the sneaky little thing dangling in there.
Thanks crank1 for all of these caches that you have put out there.

**Find #5386**
**Traditional Find #3189**

I needed a find for today and having completed all the original members of this series, I felt compelled to come here and find this one. With maintenance having been recently performed, I was confident of success. As I approached GZ I began to wonder about the hint. Perhaps I was being too cocky? Where could the hint apply here? I walked along the pipe fence and when I turned around, I spotted the cache. Smile OK, now the hint makes sense.

**Thank-you to crank1 for placing this geocache**

Thanks to the recent notification of a maintenance check by the CO, we loaded up our rent a dog we are minding and took a drive to redeem our previous DNF.

Cache easily found and replaced as found, then we continued on for a nice walk in the area.

Thanks crank1 for the cache and the exercise.

08-Jul-23
Today I continued my quest for the next wheel of challenges souvenir and it was super windy and freezing so I didn't stay out long because it was not very nice.
Luckily I could park near this and after a short search the cache was found safe and sound.
Thanks crank1 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

05-Jul-23
It's missing, next time please be careful and put it back where I put the hide.
I have replaced the new bison with fishing line.
Happy Hunting

Did not find it! Stopped here after an errand, on my way to the caches trail in Cranbourne North. Needless to say I did not find it. Seems there has been some damage here and cache is missing. Anyway TFTC

12-Jun-23
No luck with this one today. If the cache was where I suspect it was, then it has gone... part of the pipe fence has been broken off and thrown around.

06-Jun-23
Despite a thorough search, we were unsuccessful today.

Thanks crank1. Will keep an eye on this one.

01-Jun-23
Despite searching almost all the possible locations around GZ without venturing into an area clearly visible from a neighbouring house. I’m afraid it was a DNF for me here today. I’ll be back.

20-May-23
Out and about with My good caching mate Omegaman1971, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles.

This is one of the caches found today.

We parked close by and I watched as n0w0rries walked straight past the hide. I had a chuckle when he realized and returned to where he had started for a better look.
Thank you for placing this cache crank1.

Found with +Wife and EveTheStaffy.
Having cleared this trail long ago, this new cache was now taunting me.
Since we were passing close by this afternoon, we stopped to grab it.
I actually walked straight past it and began looking in the wrong direction.
Soon, I realised my mistake and retrieved the sneaky hide as +Wife had a giggle at my expense.

Find #13796

It was looking like a promising day, so plans were made and along with beckNmonts and Manfred Wolfgang, we headed towards the Cranbourne area for a bit of a numbers run so we could gain some souvenir points. Today we used either the joint stamp or wrote in micros "AH BM MW"

Massive thanks go to crank1 for placing this one.

14-May-23
Today ManfredWolfgang, ahomburg and myself went on a mini adventure around the area. Manfred was very appreciative of all the new spots to sniff.

Thanks for the awesome caches, crank1

As this is a V2, OHC didn't have a smiley here. The find was made quickly which was great as it was rather brisk. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

Just when I think I've cleaned out the area, anew geocache appears.

I was just about to head for home when this one got released. However instead of rushing off Hounding, I got called into a meeting nearby. I sat there in the meeting taking notes, while staring at my notifications. Fortunately the other cache got taken first and no one wanting to extend the meeting asking useless questions, so I was soon rushing here, meaning dawdling thru peek out traffic.

But once onsite, it was a quick find once I stopped watching my GPSr spinning in circles.

Thanks for the cache Crank 1
