Staying in Mt Gambier, we decided to take a trip to Penola. There are so many beautiful cottages here. The sign was read and the coordinates deduced. At GZ the cache was found after a very short search.
Enjoyed the way this multi was constructed using the information on the plaque. This required careful reading but with the coordinates sorted it was off to add my name in the log. TFTC and greetings scamping. A favourite point too
13/07/2024 12:52:00 PMI love a straight forward multi, as I have a habit of muffing them up, so I was happy to quickly and easily have a set of coords that looked good and enjoyed me walk to GZ despite the persistent rain. Thanks scrampingFind recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK
Travelling with richlink as part of our Caravan Geocaching Trip. It's moving day today, a big move... Narracoorte to Penola. Touring the area or using geocaching as our guide. Thanks for the hide. LNCU.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA. This is our kind of caching - back country roads. Windy arvo and hardy any traffic. Thanks scrampingLNCU
Loved the building near here. All we need now is a steam train! Thanks scramping and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Out and about with TeamAstro enjoying some SA caches, great scenery and good weatherWhat a lovely walk and a beautiful home that used to be a stationThanks scramping for contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy.
What a fantastic week of (late) autumn weather it has been in Adelaide! And with even more on the way, I thought Id take the opportunity to go away for a few days of caching, camping and sightseeing on my own. From Adelaide I headed down to the Coonawarra, then across to the Southern Grampians area then east as far as Colac, before making my way back home. I took a winding route, collecting caches of interest along the way. I managed to find a range of caches types, including Traditional, Unknown, Multi, Letterbox Hybrid, Virtual and Earthcaches as well as a few Adventure Labs. All but a couple were found without any trouble. Most were good order unless otherwise noted.Fortunately the weather held out pretty well for most of the time. However, it rained steadily for hours when I was in Colac one night, but I guess you have to expect that in Victoria! The required information was collected and final coordinates determined, than it was off to GZ for a quick find. Thanks scramping for the cache.
One of 5 multi finds in this area today.Perfect autumn weather and the vines in glorious foliage.Visited the plaque and had a nice walk to gz.Not the container I was expecting! Thanks scramping
Found at 1:29 PM GAFF1.What a ramshackled building James McKay worked out from! Well the new building and premises are now sold under contract and wonder if they will replicate some of this ramshackleness in the large parking area!Thought we had stuffed up the calcs as the final was way over thee with no seemingly connection to the McKay's?However we found a way to get really close to GZ in case we really had stuffed up and then it would be a quick get out and try again. However after a short walk and seeing some extremely impressive if somewhat run down houses we were very much impressed. Wonder why there were houses so close to this rambling noisy line?Cache was then found in a very logical spot and made us smile Thanks to scrampingFeedback: Deserves an FP in our opinion.
After spending a few days in Millicent I made a quick find of this when on my way to Adelaide. Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache.
SL at 4:10pm. After doing some studying this morning at home, I decided that I needed some fresh air and a change of scenery so a drive to Penola was in order. I took MuggleMasterKid9 with me and dragged along bdiaw. After having lunch from the local bakery and checking out the op shop, it was time to cache. This was my second attempt at this cache. I honestly do not know how I missed this the first time around! Bdiaw made the find here today, but at least my calculations were initially correct! As this was the last cache of the day for us, a quick stop at the lolly shop was needed before leaving town.*Signed log as FWD and MMK9.*TFTC scramping and the challenge!
solved on our last visit down to the south east but didn't have time to get to any of the solved finals. quick find today, at least it stopped raining for a while.Found with Mogni. I think this is the most changed trip in the planning stage that i have ever been on. The " original trip " was supposed to start on the 31st of dec but at the start of December life changed and the trip was now starting on the 26th of December and all accommodation that had booked cancelled and now see what else is free on the earlier dates. A major readjust of plans and got 1/2 the trip booked before the next curve ball came in to alter the plans again. More adjusting the plans again and i realized i could host 2 CITO's in 2 different LGA's in Victoria. What we do to qualify for Victorian challenge caches. Also i got my 20, 000 cache over in Victoria in this trip. It was decided in the end that the 4x4 was going to be the vehicle for this trip that way we could go and target all the caches that you never get, the ones down the sandy/rocky/dirt and forestry roads/tracks. We left Adelaide and headed to Casterton for a couple of days, then to Budj Bim National Park ( and saw 5 koalas in the camp ground high up in the trees ), then over Heywood, a night in Mount Gambier plus there attended the 3rd CITO of the trip before sending a few nights in Millicent and then finally home. Over 250 caches found plus 86 lab caches. Mogni also got her 11th D/T loop. I also got 3 more Victorian LGA's up to 20 finds minimum for another Victorian challenge cache. If the cache was broken/eaten/smashed it was replaced with a new container and if the log sheet was wet it was replaced and if the log was full or almost full extra log sheets were added to the cache.
Christmas holidays means caching trip with sir_spectre. This year we managed to attend 3 CITO's, claim 2 FTF's, visit lots of Adventure Labs and claim many smilies.Caches that needed some love got it, and we might of even hidden a few too.As a bonus I got to catch up with my family and some friends along the way. Thanks to scramping from mogni .
Staying in Millicent for a few days of caching in the area to give the 2023 numbers a boost.Numbers were gathered and calculations made. Then off to GZ which took me a while to spot.TFTC
Love a simple multi with history.Did the calcs and found the cache after a lil walk...TNLNSL Thanks
At least I managed to work these coordinates out correctly and after a stroll we had the log in hand.
Quick find here after a some nifty maths. Love the nearby property. Was that a railway station?I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. On the way to the Mount so stopped in at Penola to collect the 3 multis that have popped up. Visited all 3 spots and then headed to GZ and enjoyed our walk. 2 of the caches were found very quickly the 3rd proved to be very tricky but we got there in the end, quitters luck kicking in .Thanks for the caches Hevwalker and Scramping
Suscoe was heading to Nelson today, it was a cool start at Murray Bridge and travelling through Keith the temperature dropped to around 3 degrees. But the sun came through and it ended up a lovely later Winter’s day. Our caching destination was Penola with Adventure Labs, Multis and Traditionals on our list.
Penola is a delightful little town with interesting history around every corner.
Thanks to scramping for this multi.

I do like the history this town has. This place also had a beautiful black and white guardian that didn't have a care in the world. TFTC scramping, double take at GZ but able to sign the log.
"FTF"
We left home at a very early hour to see if we had a chance at collecting a FTF for this cache. The information was easy to find and once we had read through this we were soon off to our calculated GZ. Hubby was the member of our team who spotted the cache and soon had our names in the log. Now to head somewhere warm for a coffee.
