Thanks to treboR for taking this cache, I have been quite ill recently and am no longer able to cache, I hope the adoption will mean this cache can stay alive because of the adoption. Hillgorilla

Dropped by after work to see what I could see. I've walked over this a few times before and never noticed! The beauty of geocaching! Answers sent to CO.

Walked right past getting to where gps wanted me before reading the description. I guess it was back there. All good. Tftc.

Wow! There you go! I always thought these tiles were just constantly dirty and displayed wear and tare from high foot traffic, nope, turns out it's just fossils- lol! I had a good look and took photos so I could zoom right in on the shapes, interesting formations which lead me to send through my answers. A day in the city with my husband enjoying the fine weather, it always amazes me how busy this place is!

I have visited the library quite a few times and have paid no attention to these interesting fossils. Today I had a much better look. I have sent my answers to the CO and hope they pass muster.

Well the wheel of challenges has been spun again for the month of August and it has come with the finding of 8 different types for the month.
I thought I might as well start on this challenge early as I’m heading away soon and I’m not sure where I will be.
Well I will have all of the other types covered on my trip away except for an event so I had to make sure I attended one as to where I’m going there is a very big possibility of not attending one.
As I had an appointment earlier I was able to head in to the city and tick off a few of them tonight.
I have been to the library many times and have crossed over these tiles but never really looked closely at them.
I studied a lot of them and people passing by probably were wondering what I was doing and also what I was taking photos of.
Answers sent and thanks for showing me these fossils.

Thanks Hillgorilla & tredoR nosnwoT TFTC.

Walked straight past here and around the corner before realising we'd passed an E/C, so around the block we went before arriving back at the front door.
We discussed the earthcache, questions and answers. RoamingHowie submitted answers on behalf of us both.

Thanks for bringing us here by placing this earthcache, Hillgorilla ??

OzHockeyChick and I were in town for a dinner event and stopped by this one on our way.

An interesting set of fossils that I had not previously noticed on other trips to the state library.

Answers submitted to the CO.

Thanks Hillgorilla for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Although we have been to the State Library many times today we took a bit longer and studied the entrance and the valuable information about what we walk over and pay little attention too.

We also wandered the inside and sat outside taking in all the sights.

Thanks for the info provided here and the change to learn along the way.

We have sent out answers via email

In town for an appointment and did an Adventure Lab cache that ended close to this Earthcache. A beautiful day today and there were a lot of people enjoying the sunshine on the lawn in front of the library. Not a problem for finding the information required for this earthcache though. Soon had what I needed and nobody was any the wiser. TFTC

We caught the train from Beaufort this morning with the lure of a Cachemas in July lunch event to attend in Kensington. With the new capped fares, it was a no brainer, and made for a fun day out without the stress of driving and parking in the city, let alone the costs. On arriving at Southern Cross, we caught a tram up to Town Hall and met up with micaparamedic to do a bit of city caching before heading out to the event. After finding our way to the correct location, we enjoyed studying the tiles that otherwise we would have just walked over. We appreciated the very readable cache description and earthcache lesson. Thank you Hillgorilla for placing this earthcache here. Answers have been sent.

I’m visiting from Brisbane for the weekend with hubby who is going to the rugby tonight.
I spent some time geocaching early along the Yarra, then after lunch with our daughter, I came to this part of the city for more geocaching.
I enjoyed learning about the fossils here - I wouldn’t have noticed them without this Earthcache. Answers have been sent to the CO. TftEC

How interesting was this Earthcache. How many people would walk across this threshold a day, completely oblivious to what’s under their feet. I really enjoyed this Earthcache Hillgorilla as it really made me stop and look hard. Thank you for placing this Earthcache here and for contributing to this great game. Answers emailed toCO as per request. Happy trails, Deanside

I headed into the city to do some caching with day1976 in his new backyard (new as in nearly a year!). We freestyle cached with no plans as such. Ended up doing about 17.5km of walking by the end of the day.

Nothing has ever suggested we should look at these tiles closely. Thanks for drawing our eyes to something we have walked across multiple times.

I had some time to spare in the city recently and having never been here decided to visit the State Library. After walking around inside for a while I took a closer look at the stones on the way out to collect the information for this cache. Answers have been sent so hopefully all is ok for logging. Thanks for the cache.

TFTC I hope my answers over two messages are suitable. I did enjoy finding these. I remember in primary school going out with a geopick and looking at fossils in an embankment near home. I have been meaning to take my kids there to show them - even if I do get the ‘Mum seriously’. They did live the rock shop at Longwood

In Melbourne with the eldest GeoTeen I stopped to investigate this earthcache on my way inside to the reading room (where this is a cool virtual as well). Amazing to see all the visitors walking over these tiles without realising what's there!

After some observation and investigation I have sent my answers to the CO. A cool earthcache here - thanks, Hillgorilla & treboR nosnwoT!

Out for a day in the city catching Smurfs, and found this EarthCache. I've never looked at these tiles before or even thought that they held fossils, so thank you for showing me something that was under my nose! Answers have been sent to the CO.
Thanks for the EarthCache.

That was a very interesting cache. I’ve seen this floor before but never thought of those shapes as fossils. Thanks for placing here.

Thanks for the new earthcache! {FTF} answers have been sent through.

An avid chess players, it was interesting to look more closely, as we have played on it before but not that close view to the fossils.
