After many, many hours of flying, a passage through China on the way there and through the United States of America on the way back, we will finally arrive in Christchurch which will be the starting point of our journey. We will enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and we will go back towards the North Island via State Highway 1. To combine business with pleasure, we will take regular breaks and small detours according to the caches that seem the most accessible to us.With a little more than 3500 km in 20 days, we will have discovered many facets of this island which is soothing. We will have to come back because there are so many places that we have not done . In broad strokes, the path will go from Christchurch to the Kaikoura Peninsula then towards Picton for the crossing to Wellington.New island, new road, and by State Highway 2 we go towards Hastings and Napier. We will leave the seaside for several days to go to Tongariro and Taupo. We will continue north towards Rotorua and Hamilton (without forgetting a detour via Hobbiton ) A detour to the Coromandel Peninsula and finally the almost north of the island with Whangarei and Waitangi to learn the history of this country. There will only be a few days left to spend towards Auckland and its suburbs before taking the plane back to the grayness of our European autumn. The majority of the boxes will be found, we have abandoned those where our English was lacking and where we could not understand the clue. Thanks to all the owners who brightened up our path, who took us to incredible places (that's also geocaching)In short, we had a great vacation, saw beautiful places that simply ask us to come back. We learned a lot about the history of this country and its traditions, it's a great motivation for our destinations.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Petit log en retard mais un peu plus complet maintenant que nous sommes rentrs la maison. I know I looked up the pronunciation last time we were here, but I needed to hear it again this time. Now I can think of quinoa but more like ken-wa. I also found a video of the wonderful Fred Graham explaining some of the thinking behind his nearby memorial sculpture. My heart sank when I saw the grass being mown, but we managed a discrete grope and had success.Thank you GeoRick

Our geocaching map of Cambridge was a sea of smileys with the exception of this one and we have been keen to remedy the situation since it was published a couple of months ago. Today we were in Hamilton, so not too far away, and decided it would be a good time to head over to Cambridge and search for it.We always love coming here so it was a very easy decision. As we headed to the main street we were surprised at how much traffic there was, we have never seen it quite so busy.We wondered if we would be able to find a carpark near the cache but got very lucky and found one very close to GZ, someone must have just left so our timing was perfect. It was then a short walk and a nice quick find.We were pleasantly surprised by the cache container. What a nice and appropriate touch and a great idea. Thanks Rick and Lynne for a great cache and some interesting history. We are very pleased to gain a smiley at last and give you a well deserved favourite point for the effort you put into your cache.

I'm back in New Zealand for first time in four and a half years. After spending the last few days in the Manawatu, I'm heading back up to Whangarei, but I stopped in Cambridge last night to break up the journey. I've got no time commitments today until I have to be at my friend's place in Auckland, so I've planned a few caches to search for on the way. A quick find here and I picked up both the pathtags - I hope the CO doesn't mind - its just I haven't come across a single pathtag in four and a half years of living in Scotland and travelling in Europe, they don't seem to be a thing over there. Love the YouTube BTW. Tftc
