The main reason for today's adventure was to sign off a few of the D/T grid caches out on the George King Memorial Drive plus any others that get in the way.Now for the start of the ones I am aiming for.Cheers for the cache, TeamOtago.
In New Zealand we are now driving over the mountains to our next destination. Here we enjoy the landscape. On the way we stop for a good view or for a cache. Many thanks to all owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi from Germany
I'm down from Paihia for the Dunedin Mega event. We did a lot of caching around there between Friday and Sunday. Then on Monday we went down to Invercargill. The plan was 1 day coming down picking up puzzles as we headed south. Tuesday was doing the Big I and the penguin series. Fortunately we also had time to collect Cliften Swing Bridge and Monkey Island. Wednesday was Curio Bay, Slope Point and Bluff as well as a few in Invercargill. Today was driving to Middlemarch for the old Donovan cache while collecting a lot of solved puzzles on the way and generally doing most of Middlemarch. Friday we headed up to Christchurch where I was going to spend the weekend with my cousin before flying home on Sunday. I didn't have much time to solve many of the series and some were simply too hard for me. Luckily we were heading up this valley today to collect the Black and Silver knights so it was great that there were some on this road. I'm still 3 off filling my first D/T grid. Time was too short this trip to look at doing the trickier terrain ones needed. The jigsaw only took me 7 minutes on my phone. A quick find here. Thanks TeamOtago for this D/T series
Having had a busy geocaching weekend in Dunedin, at the MEGA, matagouri and I are now continuing on with our holiday 'road trip'.We stopped here for some supplies before targeting some more puzzle solves and a handful of other caches. Not to many places this could hide that fitted the hint. Thanks for setting this up
Rattll and I are continuing our holiday in the South Island after the completion of GeoToroa in Dunedin. Today, we're heading from Brighton Beach to Middlemarch, aiming to pick up as many solved mysteries as possible, and to visit the Sutton Salt Lake.Into the hills behind Outram to pick up solved caches from the D/T series and Black Knight series (plus a couple of others). At GZ, a quick find. All well in the container. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
#15,369. It's the final day of the long Mega weekend in Dunedin. The weather has cleared and the sun is shining. Its been a fun weekend despite the poor weather in the middle. A well organised event with a big turnout of cachers from around New Zealand, Australia and further afield. We spent an hour or two picking up some more adlab stages in the city then drove out to Outram to begin finding some more D/T series caches and other puzzle finals in the area. I had only managed to find time to solve some of the new caches but my travelling buddy Infoferret had solved quite a few others. The rest will have to wait for another trip south. So we are doing a circuit inland from Outram and back down the Waipori Falls Rd. We have to drop the rental car off by 4pm. We managed to locate 37 caches in that time and had to leave a few others for another day as the container was just too high up in the trees and out of reach of our fishing pole. I am afraid its going to be a cut and paste log as I really can't remember details for most of them but we had a fun time hunting even if I cursed a few times at those caches hidden 10m above my head. Some I could hardly see they were so far up. Thanks TeamOtago and Natalie247 for taking the time to place so many caches for this weekend event.
Here in the land of the king white cloud to attend the mega in Dunedin. Many thanks to all those involved in the organisation! Today we targeted some of the DT puzzles plus a few unusual caches as extras. Much better weather and some scary roads . Travelling and caching as a group Qld+1. Cheers
Day two- Geo Toroa DunedinStill cold, wet and rainy Solved prior to arrival to NZWith Queensland buddies, Snickersallan, chamad and WollastonSigned log as QLD+1Thanks for creating and placing for our enjoyment
Heading south with Heihei, along with most of New Zealands cachers, for the Dunedin Mega.Out for a day of caching with bruzie, CrystalFairy, & GreenGecko1, logs signed as BBCG.Quick find in the wet bush ??
This is day four of my Dunedin Mega trip (and IS the actual date of the mega, despite some previous logs to the contrary), the first time I've ever been here before (never mind geocaching). Obviously with such a plethora of caches to find there's going to be plenty I'll skip but I hope to find my targets.Unfortunately logging is going to be generic, but thank you to all the cache owners and event organisers for the things you do.All good here, and thank you to TeamOtago for the placement of your Mystery Cache.Find #7291 at 27 October 2024 10:41am
Outnabout with Chamad, Snickersallan, Ardom & Bluewattle on my first ever trip across the ditch. Log signed as QLD+1 to save some space. After a week of caching around Brisbane and at events last month with other Geo friends, I couldnt pass up the opportunity to hop on board for a NZ Mega adventure. Another great day for caching. ?? TFTC TeamOtago
Day 2 on my Geo Toroa Mega trip. A side trip to Middlemarch today. We will see what the weather brings as apparently there has been recent snow... After driving past a few times yesterday on a different mission, I decided to take the lower approach, probably adding to the T rating. A few groupings near GZ but got the right one. Caching in open, so tucked away. Be careful of the vines, I nearly tripped up. Thanks for the cache TeamOtago# 4046 27 October 2024 6:01 pm
I think the only D/T for the weekend, spent all my time on the planes instead. Cheers
Down in Dunedin for the Mega. Great to be back for another Mega 12 years after NZ's first Mega here in 2012. Finding a few caches with Boxhill and having a few laughs on the way. Today signing some logs as Team BOGO or our individual names. Thanks to the team for putting on a great Mega weekend, and also to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches.TFTC TeamOtago

Team SEAC consisting of HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-crane, UncleSam, Keylev and ourselves headed to Dunedin for the 2024 MEGA!All logs were signed as SEAC to save paper (except where specific signing requirements were requested)Thanks to all the CO's who had maintained the caches as we found a majority with fresh paper and containers!TFTC
What an incredible day it was. This morning Kittykatch, Joolay, barb2e and I cached our way to the airport. Here we met up with Binliner to attack the Plane/Jet series, which we had solved before leaving Australia. We found every cache that we tried for, and this was one. The logs were all signed CCD (Canberra Cachers Dunedin). Unfortunately a couple of us forgot what day it was and used the incorrect date for a while, but once we woke up (literally) that error was corrected. A huge thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. You add so much to our game. ??
Here for a fun weekend with friends from Auckland to attend the 2024 Mega. All logs signed SEAC as a group. Very sorry for the generic plain logs. Thanks to all cache owners for placing the caches.
Down for the mega and today was the day to complete the aeroplane series and of course some additional ones!! We had a couple of puzzle solving evenings to make sure we had them all ready to go. Thanks for the cache. Signed as Team SEAC (South East Auckland Crew)
We are in Dunedin this weekend for the Mega with Stik-a-Crane, UncleSam, KeyLev, and NZTravellers. We have signed all logs as team SEAC to save space, especially as we know this weekend will be busy for all caches. We have landed, picked up the cars and the plane geoart and any other trads, multis, or puzzles we have solved are the targets for the day. We have had an amazing time and had very few DNF's for a very successful day with lots of laughs and memories made. TFTC
Attending the Dunedin Mega this weekend. Out caching today with Agazo and AlunB. Signed logs as AMA.Our plan was to complete the aeroplane artwork and any other caches that we stumbled upon enroute. This is about the right level for my puzzle solving ability.Tftc
Day dawned fine and dry after some rain through the night so was looking good for our plans for the day. A great morning spent collecting all our solved puzzles for the plane. Started at the airport with Smittengranny after meeting Binliner off his flight and then we teamed up with Joolay and Kittykatch. Had no problems with most of the finds and certainly enjoyed a few stops at the Outram cafe. Caches signed as CCD for Canberra Cachers Dunedin. Thanks for all the caches in this Geoart and the extras we collected while on the roads.
Out and about with Marchwood and Agazo today mostly doing the airport geoart puzzles, as well other fun caches we found along the way. A quick find here, TFTC
Arrived today from the Northern Island to attend Geo Toroa (Mega), as a group consisting of myself, HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, keylev, NZ Travellers, and of course it would be rude to not locate caches as we left the airport heading into our accommodation in Dunedin.Signed in as SEAC to save logbook space and on our way to the next hide. This was the last before a well deserved lunch break.TFTC.
A nice quick find after a bit of an over shoot in the car. Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are off on a cruise around the south of the South. Great to be away. The day was back to normal, fine and sunny. So good, we decided to head up to Lake Mahinarangi for some "Fishing"Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
After arriving on an early flight, teamed up with smittengranny, barb2e, Joolay and Kittykatch for an enjoyable mornings caching session around the airport region. Signed as CCD (Canberra cachers Dunedin)Exchanged anecdotes with some local farmers who kept us entertained and were generally supportive of our mission. Thanks for placing these caches for our enjoyment and welcoming us to Dunedin.

Day eleven of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Today we spent around Dunedin. We spent the morning doing some of the Plane Geo Art, had lunch at Outram, then returned to the city to do some of the older caches, with a few others in between.Finished the day with the event, and Indian take away.I think the highlights were the ones on Allanton - Scroggs Hill Road, the views were spectacular.Grabbed this cache just before lunch, but I suspect we approached from the wrong side.Got there in the end though. Some interesting houses around the area. Thanks, Robmc.
Day 11 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and our second full day in Dunedin. Our intention was to target the Plane series and hopefully find at least half of them before the hoards and the rains arrive. We did pretty well and then after lunch headed back to town to tackle some of the oldies. Then onto the event. Thanks for contributing to the fun TeamOtago

We took another wee trip to pick up D/T caches and grab the codes. All good here though got a few blackberry vine scrapes and tackled some other vines! All good here. tftp
This is a prime example of not going for the first (or second) hint object that you see. A very quick find at the right hint object which is an impressive specimen that is very accurately described in the hint. Found with Spoonz2
We had to work around a digger driver doing something with ditches here, so parked a bit further away from him. Searched a few hint objects until we came to the right one. Found with Debsnz.
Out with the geocaching section of the Wednesday Walkers. We started with the History Trail, had morning coffee and then wandered around the Heritage Museum. Grabbed this one on the way back to the cars.TNLN. TFTC.
I had an appointment to go to first so meet the Wednesday walkers at the halfway morning tea stop. The cache was found on the way back from visiting the old building further up the hill. Found with Katiew and Kiwichris plus the Daywalks who had already signed the logbook.
A quick retrieve while out on a wednesday walk visiting some historical buildings in Outram
In Dunedin to play bridge and get some caches on the way. All good with the cache. Thanks.
Need about 10 more mysteries in a row for dot days and run out at home so on the road again. We love Jidigi. Pengi spends a lot of time with me travelling around the world to find suitable subjects. So hardly a cop out. Come to Invercargill to try them out. A Jidigi a day is good for the ... er ... er ... wassname ... Brain. That's it, good for the brain. Stops you going nuts and talking to yourself, eh Pengi? You agree don't you? Of course.
Quickly solved. Stopped her on the way to Ranfurly with mswilby. Watch out for blackberries when approaching from the bottom. Thanks for the cache, TeamOtago#6131 ** Make your way to Dunedin for New Zealands next Mega Event. GCA7ZHD Geo Toroa will be held on NZs Labour Day long weekend 26-27th October 2024 **
