After trying to do the manly library cache last week decided to maybe try another multi here in Clontarf. Very well constructed cache and maybe took a little too long then I shouldve at final gz but it eventually reviled itself. TFTC and this surely deserves a fav point.
(1 of 4 today - including 1 AL)Only after a few finds today, so decided to target two caches close together at Clontarf. Didn't notice one had a recent GNF, but all good as I found it anyway. Then I still had some time so thought I'd go after a previous DNF and then an AL location. Of course I picked one with a bit of a walk (oops) - and silly me started at the wrong spot, doubling the walk (double oops).###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###Started here, and thinking $8 an hour for parking was crazy, parked just outside. Actually found a better parking spot, especially if you're going for the nearby Traditional as well - S33 48.375 E151 15.243. Why would you pay, seriously? Although I suspect this area fills up quickly on weekends...Headed to the published coordinates, followed the instructions and soon had my coordinates for GZ. And of course there is a large number of muggles nearby. As a result, even though I got the right spot first up I missed it. They left after 5 minutes or so and I had the CIH almost immediately after.Completed signing duties and replaced.A nice little history lesson here about a well known event.SLTNLNTFTC
9 August 2024 A lovely mild winter day. Perfect for a stroll in Clontarf. I had no idea about the history of the place.TFTC DaJakeBoy
Nice little multi to start the day. The wind is howling, and feels like ice. Got the required, found gz, spotted the container. signed the log. $8.00 parking for 2 caches. container was full of water. Lucky it is wax paper. TFTC.
A nice wander around the park and a quick find over at GZ. Strange wall nearby. Sydney water. TFTC
Clontarf - we used to swim here all the time when I was a kid. I enjoyed the area so much that 2 years ago I came here and planned a cache, a multi too. Hid my container and came home to finalise the cache page. That very evening it was on the news that human bones had been found in the children's playground they were creating. So the area was cordoned off, and my cache...... ah well such is the caching life.So today the finished playground product looks great, and everywhere in the park was crowded with Christmas gatherings and lots of bubbly and melting stuff in the heat.GZ - well there was a group of about 30 handicapped young adults enjoying the area, and a tree had fallen and part of the area was roped off.I poked around for a long time, was quizzed by the carers about my semi suspicious activity and then resorted to PAF, 2nd time today (I really hate doing that!!!!). Fortunately then I knew where GZ was - in the roped off section, of course!OK so I was already sus looking so I just went for it. CIH, LS cache replaced and I escaped. TFTC - a fun visit to an old stomping ground. # 5708
Swung by the cache after some arvo fishing/swimming and thought to check on the cache while I was there. All is good no replacing needed, good luck!!
Visited the WPs without paying the parking fee. Then off to GZ and checked where a small might be hidden, but the GPS took us to where we found a micro and glad there were no muggles about. TFTC
The Info was easily found, and the calcs done. The find was less than expected, and I had figured it would be somewhere else very nearby. Still glad you brought me to this beautiful Reserve by the water. OCW Brewmaker. TFTC DaJakeBoy
OCW frazeydaze. After collecting the information from the wp's we sat down to do the calcs and soon had a respectable looking gz. It took us a while to find the prize as our phones had us going around in circles. TFTC DajakeBoy.
Caching with oldmorty. Thanks to the CO for bringing this story to our attention. It must have been huge at the time.Information collected and calculations done.It was really difficult to get a fix on GZ.We searched all possible hiding spots and ended back where we started, and found the cache. Thanks to DaJakeBoy for the multi and the cache.
Temporarily, for if it hasnt updated, here is an image of the updated description.
Sorry about that, I honestly thought they were the same amount, so when i was leaving, I did a quick double check but the other sign happened to be closer at the time so I counted that not realising the difference. I do agree it is dumb, but the updated description, and the congrats to vk2df should be up in the next few hours, thanks for spotting it vk2df. It should work out, so get to caching!!
FTF @ 9:22 am on 20/11/2023.We noticed this new MultiCache popup yesterday, but we had just returned home after a busy day in the city, so weren't inclined to dash out caching again. Noticed it was still unfound this morning, so headed over to Clontarf after the morning geokid drop-off to try our luck.Arrived at a relatively quiet Clontarf Reserve and headed over to WP1, where the "pillars" were quickly spotted and the information plaques located, then over to WP2 for the next stage. Located the information easily enough, but there seems to be a problem with the required " = The number of bricks that surround the information, divided by 31", as the brick count on this surround (sign about Prince Alfred) doesn't divide evenly by 31. BUT the brick count on the other panel's surround (sign about Henry O'Farrell) DOES divide evenly by 31 and results with the correct answer (yes the brick surrounds have different numbers of bricks).Anyway with that sorted out we now had some final GZ coordinates so, after entering the numbers into the GPSr, we were off to final GZ. Soon arrived at final GZ and made a nice quick find of the cache container, opening it up to find a pristine log sheet, which was duly signed as FTF. TNLN, then replaced as found. TFTC DaJakeBoy, it's a nice little multi.Find #6490
