Another DNF here!Last time it was missing and I feel it might be again.I PAFed a recent finder and was given detail on what to look for, plus descriptive detail where to look. I still cannot find this cache!
Second visit here and caching today with locus cache. We finally located the little nano.Bit hard to retrieve and a torch handy for us today TFTC
Checked log book after some comments of it being wet but the book was in good condition and dry
Introducing my cousins from Qld to geocaching and this was our 4th find! The cache was actually on the ground when we found it so we have re-hidden it TFTC
A busy path today in the lead up to the City to Bay Fun Run this month. In between the joggers, walkers and cyclists I capped off this tale with a smiley after many attempts and DNFs with the geodog. TFTC
Been back to the same location with llittle gremlins. I belive we had a good look this time. However, no find. As one of them was trying to pull giraffe's tail off, had to end our mission today. Will be back again.
No luck and after 15 mins searching the obvious sculpture a PAF was made. Searched again, still nothing Thanks for the hunt
We initially went to the published coordinates but didn't have any success. Then, we shifted our search to the location consistent with the cache name. After a short search, the cache was located - it was 11m west of the published coordinates. The log was very full and tatty. So we replaced the log with a new one. Thanks for the cache, but it would be good to have the coordinates accurate.
Thanks for placing and maintaining the cache. Granddaughter made this an easy find.
A quick find todayto be honest it was a quick find today after two previous unsuccessful attempts. A good spot to take a break from my bike ride. TFTC
There was an event to be held in my neck of the woods so Doctor Owl ventured south to meet up for some caching before and after the event. A successful day was had with a nice lunch to break things up.After the event we headed north to find some puzzles that had been solved along with a few other mutually unfound caches before completing a big circuit.Having been here before we had a pretty good idea where the little blighter would be hiding. Owl soon had the cache. Thanks for the cache SamWhite2023.
Owl and JJ52 got together with a plan that revolved around an event, some mutually unfound caches, a puzzle mutually solved earlier that week and a maintenance run. Although the plan evolved during the day, it was yet another successful run. For their next trick they will solve world peace! BTW Good to see this one back again.
This cache needs a new logbook. I put in a scrap of paper which will be good for the next two or three finders.
Look at that giraffe, I wonder if theres enough room between caches to put one on it? Doh, there already one on it and its a nano. One circle of the giraffe and theres only really one place for it to be, and thats where I started and finished my search. Found in the first place I looked, but no logbook. I didnt have a nano logbook in the car so put in a small scroll of paper which will be enough for the next two or three finders.
Two Confused looking Puzzlers planned a Wednesday Wander.Ttrogg picked up the Rat from her nest. They headed towards the city, then west and north. It seemed like I have been here sometime ago. This was a quick easy find. That has to be the slipperiest log I have come across. Tftc
Out and about with sir_spectre grabbing a few caches as I target specific dates to make my calendar look more balanced. Thanks to SamWhite2023 from mogni
" insert nano rant here ". second time i have found a nano here and also that was were the last one was hidden too. Quick find. Found with Mogni. Found after i hosted the Pathway clean up CITO. Many targeting adventure labs but stamping any " normal " caches we passed.
What a gorgeous sculpture! Thank you for bringing me here. I found the cache in the first place I looked but not the first time I looked there! Now, theres a time and a place for them, and this definitely was one, but regardlessBloody nanos!!! Who came up with such a thing? Lock them all up and burn down the nano factory!!!
Found It!This took a lot of searching but eventually I found it. Cue the nano rant...TFTC
Thanks SamWhite2023 for bringing me here to become reacquainted with Gene. I liked reading about the South African plants being planted here, to make him feel at home. I didn't take too long to find the cache, fortunately, as here with muggles.
Found it Big thanks to Geo person Vote for fav Thank you With Deaf PVC and Deaf Team
Found while staying in Adelaide for The Great Leap Forward event. SamWhite2023, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
Found Gene's bounty once before... went straight to where it was hidden before... bingo!Soo slippery winding it back up... tftc
Very early morning find with a muggle mate as the sun rose....trying to beat the heat! Second cache ive done on this fellow! Thanks for the (tiny) hide.
Took the geopoodles out for an afterwork mini caching adventure30 secs to find the cache. 2mins to roll up the worlds slippriest nano sheet!Cache found and log signed.
A classy hide here. Such a shame that some people treat Gene as rubbish receptacle.
A quick find on the way north from this mornings breakfast event, though who knows how long it would have taken me if not for hearing some chatter that narrowed the area of search. I had to wait for an elderly man sitting on the nearby seat to move on; it was looking like he had settled in for the day. I do believe Ive found a cache at this spot before and its embarrassing that I can barely remember it, as it is an imposing sculpture. Not as many FPs to collect here as the giraffe in Berlin, but its early days yet. Thanks for the hide SamWhite2023.
Hi SamWhite2023, found Gene The Giraffe today with Morgothegeo and Sandyofthesea. TFTC from Probsty
After attending the nearby breakfast event, we found a few local Glenelg caches. Probsty quickly retrieved this one.SamWhite2023, I found Gene The Giraffe today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.* * * * * * *SAs Leap Year Event - GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. Keep looking up!
Was over this way to organize some body work and after that had to go the little further to have a look for this one. Seemed to remember the last incarnation so it was a quick find in the second place examined. Had to totally unroll the log to use the last spot on the first side and then the not fun began. Quite a while later I'd managed to roll up the very slippery log and replace cache. That's the worst nano log I've every had to deal with. Thanks to SamWhite2023 for making this cache available to be found.Cache #14433 for me.This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).****SAs Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. Another fine Tuesday caching the 'burbs with Froghoppin, today Sebastbat came along and Jack tagged along too! This was one of our several finds. Thank you SamWhite2023 for the cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance ---------------- ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid lumps falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of --------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! PS:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GCA1DNA - Great Leap Forward ... or is it backward... it takes an extra day to get to March 29.2.24 The Mega Leap Event of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And don't forget to put the June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... fun and funky finds
Another Tuesday adventure with Mattycat and Sebastbat, back down to the city for todays playground, took way longer than expected I think we checked the spot more than once until the keen eyes of the bat spotted what the frog and cat did not seeTFTC SamWhite2023
Have been here previously when CrackledChelle was the CO. Nice to see its still in play but I do detest trying to re-roll the nano logs. There should be an eaiser way to log theses. Thanks for maintaining this cache.
Out at Glenelg with Melbourne grandsons. Had a ride on the Ferris wheel then caught tram to visit Gene. Didnt take long to locate but signing log & helpful fingers trying to replace the log in the container took a while then grandson proudly replaced the little blighter. We walked back to near the Ferris wheel to use up some of the energy of the boys to find Gpa where we left him in the cafe reading the paper. Tftc
I sweated as I saw the giant giraffe much like I did before. Sure I found the drink bottle in record time - 2 seconds. How did that get there? Xmas lunch disposal. I hope not!! Now the pesky nano was found in the second place I looked - a good thing huh. Now that was the hard part I thought. NopeDodging the Xmas bikes on the track was even easy. Many were concentrating on balancing Yep. The hard part was rolling up possibly the most slippery-as scroll I can remember. That took for ever. Santa could have made 10 deliveries in that time. Who knows Eventually it rolled to the correct diameter to fit. Hohoho. Merry Xmas . Thanks SamWhite2023 and clear skies from TeamAstro. Insert nano rant here...I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. **S34 56.786 E138 31.591**Stopped by at a familiar GZ, but alas the co-ords had me over 10m away at a location that can house a SoS, but it wasn't there obviously. So went to the obvious over 10m away and found it at the co-ords above.No-one mentions the bad co-ords! TNLNSL
Found today at 10.20am. Find #9153. Signed in the next free spot, it's what normal cachers do - add ink to validate the find, thanks SamWhiteI found myself in the vicinity and thought I would look for this reincarnation. Yes, pretty much the same as last time, a freaking nano. In the end, I found it pretty easily, lucky for me I guess. Teach And I Learn, not a podium finish but I still got Silver on this bright sunny morning.
I stopped by here on the way to the event this morning and it looked like somewhere I had been before, I remember finding an old cache here some years ago, no luck on my first attempt so back after the event and the bloody nano was foundToday with two pre Christmas events, one at somerton park followed by another in Gawler I decided to find a few caches either side of the events. Thanks for the cache
Found while passing through the area today. Thanks for the cache SamWhite2023!
My family have a Christmas tradition where we go to Plaster Fun House every year. Something we've done since I can remember. We had lunch and then went our separate ways. I came here to find my daily cache.I trusted the coordinates, which made me come up empty-handed. Trust the name of the cache instead.I went for the PAF option and the cache was quickly located after that.Despite the nanoness, I enjoyed the location and hide.My family likes to get me giraffe toys and other giraffe related objects for my birthday and Christmas because of my height. It was interesting to read about the local plants. Thanks for bringing me here.I signed the log as "Goldy" to save room. Thanks SamWhite2023 for this traditional cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3883 on the 18th of December 2023.This also brings me to day #409 of my daily streak.
got up this morning and received an email out this cache thought I had no hope to get the first to find. I drove down with SoulOracle, we got there and I found it to my surprise I was the first to find at 9.28am FTF
Luckily found this evil nano within a couple of minutes.TFTC but burn down the nano factory!!!!!!
