Having moved to Brisbane from the Northern suburbs some 20 years ago now, family runs up to this area are obviously no longer a frequent thing. We used to get up here at least once a quarter when we were SA based. Sans greater family on a work trip to Adelaide, I took to the hills and wanted to drop by the large gee-gee while the weather was ok. I first visited here in 1984 and not much has changed. It's great to see this place still going. The put-put course is a new addition since my last visit, but could well have been there for a while now. I gleaned the answers for the questions, but one eluded me so I took to google. Obligatory selfie taken care of, it was time to head back to suburbia.Nice to drop by again, I hope the horse lives for a very long time.Cheers ozmilo.
I visited this Virtual cache while on a 4-day caching jaunt around the Yorke Peninsula, Barossa, Adelaide Hills and nearby areas. With no fixed itinerary, I just followed the GPS from one cache of interest to the next, only targeting non-Traditional cache types. The weather has been just perfect for caching and camping and most of the caches were found without difficulty and in good order. Thanks ozmilo for the Virtual cache.

A lovely day out at the Rocking Horse, played golf, fed the animals and climbed the horse. TFTC
Another day out with Doctor Owl heading north to find a few more of the Jigidi puzzles along with others that we happened to drive past. It was a lovely day for a drive in the hills with some awesome views ending up at Gawler for lunch before winding our way back home.We were on our way home and Doctor Owl missed a turn so we found ourselves very close to this cache so she kindly offered to stop so I could get this cache. Answers sent to CO.I haven't been here for years but do remember bringing my kids in the 80's and buying a wooden toy for them. Thanks for the cache ozmilo.
Something special or unusual goes here:Managed to leave a little earlier than usual today so decided to stop in here and get this off the map. Answer sent and C.O. approved after making visitors fly from London and not drive! Spell check doesn't always work! [B)]The Generic Bit:A Wednesday Wander this week for some Puzzle solvers. I picked up Mrs. Sewer Rats and then we started following the blue dots. Our target today was to start on the A jigidi for.... series. Published over the past couple of weeks we had been solving them as they came out, so it was time to go and grab a few. Of course we detoured and made stops for various unfound caches along the way. Another great day with about half of the jigidi series published so far found. ***Thanks ozmilo for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
This one is being logged as the required answers have been sent. Haven't been here in ages!!
This week my wife and I are holidaying in Hahndorf. This was our last full day and we were sending home some wine and buying other goodies to remind ourselves of the trip. We had planned to revisit Lobethal Road wines in Mt Torrens and so I looked around for caches in the area to visit. A big rocking horse was not something we were going to miss. This wasnt on my bucket list, but now is and ticked off. After finding the answers and sending them off we had to wait for our photo opportunity. There was an elderly couple and the lady was bucking the small horse while her partner who was a very fit seventy crawled all over the big one. There wasnt a kid in sight as happy as they were. Im not sure what spectrum they were on, but I want to join.We have the Big PineApple and Bog Mower near home and once went to the Big Cow in Nambour. Ive been to the Big Banana in Coffs Harbour, the Big Prawn and the Big Macadamia Nut and possibly other big things I have forgotten, but the Big Credit Card debt is something I am trying to avoid. tftc

This morning we visited the Big Rocking Horse and collected the required information. Answers to the questions have been sent to the CO and approval to log has been received. The required photo is included with this log. Thanks ozmilo for the virtual cache at an iconic location.
Quick stop over to log this one. As a local been here many times over the years! Tftc!
Nice. Only a couple of weeks ago Wal the horsey got a new paint job! One very shiney horse, and checking the info made me feel old. Still fun to climb! Some of my kids' first toys came from here, including a rocker !!! Back in, well never you mind... Thanks for the cache listing ozmilo and for feeding the horse. [:o)]Answers sent to CO.------------------------------ ------------------------------PS:Don't forget to put the SA June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... leap back into the 80s - GCAK1D5 - Lameroo's Ludicrous Legwarmers Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)] I do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log... someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs. Is that all? Oh well, thanks for reading!Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow!
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. [:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - Oz Milo [^]

Discovered this Virtual this morning on a gorgeous autumn day, love this area and never get tired of coming here, TYFTV
My Nana recently had her birthday and no one in my family had made plans to see her. So, I decided to go up today to celebrate with her.I left early to come get this virtual at Gumeracha, as I'm always trying to increase my virtual count.I arrived at the location and looked for the answers. The actual horse was closed for painting work but I figured I'd be ok.I found two of the answers but couldn't find the last one. Eventually, I saw it was located behind the fencing. I couldn't get close enough to read it properly. I wrote down what I could read and sent the answers off.I was approved to log with the answers I had provided. The staff on site said that the rocking horse is closed until Friday.Cool virtual here. Also, good coffee is available too. Thanks ozmilo for this virtual cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 4110 on the 26th of March 2024.I appreciate all the CO's who spend time and resources contributing to the Geocaching game board.Shoutout to the reviewers who dedicate time to make sure our game is safe and enjoyable.I look forward to attending GCACHF8 in Sydney in early 2025. Hope to see plenty of people there!
Post-Mega caching holiday; I had spent the night in the delightful Victor Harbour, then chose to drive northwards via some back roads, to avoid the Adelaide traffic. It was great to come upon this impressive rocking horse; always good to claim a Virtual cache. Answers have been sent. Greetings from NZ.
Its day 9 of Team SQUIRMs adventures around South Australia and our last full day in Radelaide. We have a few more hours left in the day before an event and a Fringe show so its time for more caching. This was in one part a sentimental visit and another because I love seeing big things! A really cool place to visit and awesome to be able to go up inside it and up to the top! Tftc ozmiloFind #5774
Found 11:35amAll good here. TFTC *ozmilo*DAY 1*Little Panther* and I were out of bed at 2:30 am after having very little sleep. We arrived at the railway station at 3:30 am to catch the train, arriving at Sydney Airport at 6:00 am. Now for the pressure cooker bit, working out what we needed to do, and where we needed to go. Fortunately we managed to navigate our way to our seats. Arriving in Adelaide at 10am the pressure was on as we again navigated our way to collect our bags and locate the shuttle bus to go and collect our hire car.Settling into our car I discovered the GPS I brought was not working - grrr. To Waze we go I guess. Northward bound up the motorway and out of Adelaide, I was not excited about the countryside, it was not wat I expected, and I quickly decided I didn't really like Adelaide much. We headed to the *Barossa Reservoir* and the *Whispering Wall*, a place I had not been since I was 10. On arrival it was closed - No way !?! grrr !! Not happy Jan !! Can't do much about it, so we headed off to *Tanunda* and *Nuriootpa*. They were also not what I was expecting. But its been so long. I was amazed seeing just how big the wine region is here with grapes galore. I just wanted to come for a look for old time sake, so we didn't do much. With hands full of lollies and ice cream - the best ice cream I've ever tasted I might add [I love ice cream] - we headed down to *Hahndorf* to book into our accommodation. Dinner at Haus was a delicious crispy Vienna Schnitzel and Sauerkraut.DAY 2Off to the ***The Great Leap Forward Mega Event 2024*** at *Woodville South*. We arrived and signed the log book, enjoyed the fun gadget caches, a coffee, sausage sandwich, and chatted to two Canberra Cachers and one of our home local cachers who we haven't seen over a year. Oh, and bought some coins and other merchandise from the geocaching stall. Following on from that we went out caching and clocked up quite a few finds over the afternoon. *Little Panther* did a great job choosing the caches and navigating us to them. We couldn't possibly come to another state and not visit the beach. Some beach caches were very much enjoyed. Dinner was *Da Mario Pizzeria, Athelstone* - a nice crispy half and half 'Chicken and Chips' and 'Garlic Prawns' pizza. Then back to *Hahndorf* for a big sleep.DAY 3A late start to the day saw a cache find nearby, a visit to the Hahndorf Bakery for lots of *Bee Sting* to fly back with us to Sydney [we spent a small fortune here], and another run out to the *Whispering Wall*. Woo hoo, it was open !! I rang SA Water yesterday to ask about it. Thanks for not returning my phone call as you said you would, SA Water. Nevertheless it is open. The last time I came here I wasn't able to do the wall walk. My sister had a fear of heights and I had a fear of water. Today I have overcome my fear and walked the wall alone. I've been working hard on overcoming this fear. Next stop was the Rocking Horse at Gumeracha. I saw family photos of it, but have never been, so this was a must stop. Terrific souvenir shop. We went to the top of the horse and made some fairy floss before leaving. Some more caches were found before we returned our hire car, caught the shuttle bus to the airport, and flew back to Sydney.
Knew this was here, went to the rocking horse, got caught up in the place and left forgetting the virtual ... grrr.... I did take photos, so I will check later and see if I can qualify for the find. Hopefully I have the answers with the photos I took.
Find 4727 on March 1, 2024Day#4 on Fergzters trip to the Great Leap Forward Event. Today we begin heading home but still 2 days of geocaching to be had. Answers have been sent to CO. Photo attached. An interesting site for sure TFTV ozmilo
The Great Leap Forward event day was finally here so with chooknchunk we set off caching chasing different cache types all the while visiting some very interesting locations.Wanting a virtual for the day we made a slight detour to Gumeracha to visit this amazing Big Thing......One half of the team had already been here way back in 91', so it was great to revisit once again and for the male Triton to have a bit of fun with chunk here. All the tourist things were done; souvenirs, tick, climb to the top, tick, silly photos taken, tick and enjoy a nice lunch in the restaurant. tick, collect the virtual answers, tick. Thanks ozmilo for the fun Virtual, we all had a ball.
Found It!Stopped here for some photos while passing by. I remember climbing this thing when I was a child. It seemed much bigger back then.TFTC
GCAJHZZ Big Things Rock!A group of us are down from Darwin and Brisbane in preparation of the leap year event. Today we head from Mannum to Adelaide picking up various caches. To save space in the logs we have signed as BOLD7. Was meant to be BDLD7 but something got lost in translation. A love a big thing so I made the crew detour by here. TFTC ozmilo
Throughout the trip Nikid1 was insatiable, only wanting big then bigger things. There was no way we could satisfy her with our mediocre offerings. Then she perked up last night during our evening cache debrief after spotting the world's biggest rocking horse. And she wanted it really, really, really badly, no matter what!!Kidnapped, the BOLD07 were at the mercy of the driver until we reached this stop. I should have been listening to last night's conversation a little more closely instead of being in that happy place with beer flowing into the gullet before heading off to bed early. I would have been better prepared.Back to today arriving at the corral, my mind went into overdrive thinking there must be a fortune in rocking horse poo just sitting here lying around. And a rocking horse that size could produce enough to raise South Aust's GDP. Thinking selfishly, I could fund this entire trip if I could only get a few bags of RH poo back to Brissy. Disappointingly the horse trainers and stable hands had already cleaned up the grounds and not a dram of RH poo was seen. Luckily there was a virtual here to placate me and a practice Rocking Horse for fools to ride. Thanks ozmilo for your big thing and a FP!!
One of the many big things this country prides itself on. One very popular location today. With two events scheduled over two days, one a Tailem bend and another at Mannum the following day I decided to make an overnight trip out of it. Just over 100 finds for the two days cleaning up the map as I went. Thanks for the cache
Out and about collecting more caches with the BOLD7 team. Thanks for bringing me here.
We are on the way from Brisbane to Adelaide for the MEGA Leapyear 2024. We stop for interesting spots and combining it with finding caches. This was one of them. We had been here before - in 2004 so it was nice to refresh our memories.Answers were sent to CO, so I attach a photo of me on top of the rocking horse. Tftc Ozmilo
Owl and Eagle were heading home from Monarto Zoo when Owl decided a slight detour was in order. Fond memories of this place!
Australia is the land of big things. And there is none much bigger than this big thing. Great virtual. Well done thanks.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. I am from Switzerland...and we travel all states and terretorries of Australia .We do housesitting all over the world and this time we started off in Tasmania .I have been in Adelaide many times before .and have arrived a few days ago . Its nice to be back and this time even better with geocaching Nggi2 and I decided to today to make out of green ones Smilies..and to visit the GEO STUFF shop...So we drove with our camper to Nurry..but the shop was closed .Afterwards we went towards Cuddle Creek to the Koalas for a cuddle . Then I wanted to surprise Nggi2 with the Rocking Horse !!! I didn`t even look if here was a cache .. I have been here before in the past ..great to be back ...the answers were found around as well Thank you for this virtuell cache oinkoinkI will send the answers today..we were there yesterday..I took Nggi2 there because I already knew the place
Answers sent 16:45. Permission granted. *FTF*It cant be too often that a Virtual gets published and its your new closest to home. Rare as rocking horse, well, you know. For once Im at home when this was published, and as everyone in Gumeracha knows, the Rocking Horse closes at 17:00. Its only 740m from my house, but straight to the car. Its only at this point that I notice how heavily its raining. Q1 was easy, Q3 had me looking in the wrong place, and by this stage Im the only person left in the park and the owner comes over to help. I explained what was going on, and he seemed quite excited. He directed me to Q2. He offered to take the photo for me, but didnt do a great job, and Im posting the selfie I took later. That gives you not one, but two rocking horses. There used to be a trad here and despite proximity to home, it took me ages to log because youre either dealing with masses or the park is closed. I think this Virtual will work much better. Thank you for choosing Gumeracha for your Virtual ozmilo, this is a big FP from me.
