We enjoyed a Sunday afternoon drive on the Peninsula, admiring the crops and finding smiliesA lovely tributeTFTC
TftcFound with a group of mad cachers after cleaning up pasky at the cito.loved roaming dirt roads and rock piles.Smiles and laughter all around
A nice cache to find in amongst all of the other caches found today, Log was signed SS,-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What an amazing weekend to be on the Yorke Peninsula with the gorgeous Snap Happy and the beautiful TheDame. We then met up with a great group of people doing what we do best - CACHE!!!Today we attended a CITO in Paskeville and then we all went off to complete the Siren of the Sea geo-art, find a few other caches in the area and we then finished with The Big Question series. What a fantastic series Siren of the Seas is - most of the hides were quickly found, but a few required a longer look. We cached with CPWanderer, GizmosGang, Mogni, SirSpectre, JJS2, TK2, Plesiosaur22, TubbyBooBoo, JeffEddy, Martini989, Tweety2, TravelinBees, AllisterW, Northstar76, Superman22, LiB, Earthlight, Shandyk, SpiderMonkeysMum and FrogHoppin. To save room in the log books our caching name today was "Siren Seekers" = "SS". Thanks so much for taking the time to place this cache for us to enjoy finding.
**Found by Snap Happy** Out and about with GoodLook and TheDame as we headed to Yorke Peninsular for the night. Today we met up with CPWanderer, GizmosGang, Mogni, SirSpectre, JJS2, TK2, Plesiosaur22, TubbyBooBoo, JeffEddy, Martini989, Tweety2, TravelinBees, AllisterW, Northstar76, Superman22, LiB, Earthlight, Shandyk, SpiderMonkeysMum and FrogHoppin. Our caching name today was *"Siren Seekers"*. Logs were either stamped or signed with this group name or 'SS' depending on the size of the log and container. After the nearby early morning CITO, it was time to hit the road. The teams streamed out of the starting gates in search of this fabled marine creature with the head and upper body of a human being and the tail of a fish - They apparently loved music and often sang. Well, the only music today was from the radio in the car and the occasional 'found it' before making our way onto the next in the series and the few occasional and scattered caches along the way. Most caches were found quickly with a couple needing a longer search but all found. Caches were all in good condition unless otherwise stated. The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual COs, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals dont know about. I, like most cachers, look for more than a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most COs take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less travelled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own.The weather was lovely and a sunny but cool 19C . The vistas stunning and I particularly love the bright yellow fields of canola (especially if they had old buildings in them). The coffee shops and bakeries wonderful and the company fabulous. Many laughs ensued as we made our way North West.I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues. Thank you Margieh for highlighting this area and for providing this game piece for our enjoyment. Thanks for the history lesson too. Appreciate your efforts. - PSorry for the generic log but doing so many in a day we lost track of individual hides. This does not mean we do not appreciate the enormous effort and expense gone into setting up the series. Many thanks Margieh for the fun and laughs.**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. *Took:* Nothing*Left:* Nothing.Cache on! **#19497**
A trad found and signed while tackling a mystery siren around Pasky. Signed as part of the sire seekers group. TFTC Margieh.
Headed out for a days caching, this stared with a CITO and continued on to the Siren of the Sea with a team of other geocachers with the aim to conquer this and other caches around. All caches signed S.S. TFTC
Today started with a CITO at Paskeville sports ground and then we all grouped to launch our attack on the Siren of the Sea Series. This cache was found as part of this. A beautiful memorial. All logs were signed as Siren Seekers or SS. A great day was had. Thank you
A weekend away was planned with sir_spectre and mogni to the Yorke Peninsula to complete the Abandoned Railway Sidings caches then meeting up with others to tackle the new mermaid geo art and then the new Big Question caches. It was a busy but fun weekend with a couple of events thrown in and lots of caches found along with me getting to my 20,000 milestone. We had perfect weather and the dirt roads had mostly dried out after the big storm during the week. All in all a successful couple of days.Today after the CITO at Paskeville we joined up with a group of cachers to tackle the Siren Of The Sea geoart which were all found. The roads were good even after the rains of a few days ago and no snakes encountered which is always a good thing. This was a bonus cache we found while completing the nearby geoart. Thanks for the cache Margieh.
What a day out!! Started with a CITO at Paskeville with many from the previous nights dinner event in Moonta. Many others had driven over from Adelaide for a fun day out. Logged as SS Gotta love a smiley face on the map. Thankyou for placing and maintaining it. TNLNSL
Found while doing the Siren Of The Sea geo art with about 20 other cachers. Quick find. Found with Mogni and JJ52. This weekend it was off to do the Abandoned Railway Sidings/Stations series both in Port Wakefield and also the Abandoned Railway Sidings/Stations trail between Moonta and Kandia plus any other caches that we passed along the way, plus JJ52 was hosting a event in Moonta for her 20,000 cache. It was a busy Saturday day and night, since we went caching after the event in the dark as well. Sunday started with co-hosting a CITO event at Paskeville early in the morning then meeting up with about 20 other teams and doing the Siren Of The Sea geo art then a early lunch and then moving on to do the The Big Question geo art with the remaining teams that haven't already done it. Then it was time to drive home only stopping for a couple more caches. No snakes were sighted but i did get nearly a dozen bug/ant bites over 3 different gz's and stung by a bee in the chest. For the first time in a very, very, very long time i didn't need to replace any full log sheets ( nano log sheets don't count, do your own maintenance ). A very, very tiring weekend given the amount of km's either walked or pedaled but a good weekend away. Surprisingly the weather was a lot better than expected not to hot or cold given the thunder storms either this week.
Today Astro, doineedthis and myself left Adelaide early and managed to complete the mermaid and more. It was a sensational day out, lots of laughs and discussion. The day was windy, but it really ramped up before midday, sometimes it was hard standing upright, let alone keeping the containers and logsheet from blowing away. The rocks hides took some time, but we managed to find all on offer, and they were in good condition. Thanks to Fishy Tales for the placement and ongoing maintenance. Signed as TOAD (Team OZGrumpy Astro Doineedthis). This one had already been found by Astro, so it was just doineedthis and myself to sign. A very nice plaque here, profound resonance with Astro, quite apt. Find #10197
Sitting here wasted and woundedWith this old pianoTrying hard to captureThe moment this morning I don't know'Cause a bottle of vodkaStill lodged in my headAnd some blonde gave me nightmaresThink that she's still in my bedAs I dream about moviesThey won't make of me when I'm deadWith an ironclad fistI wake up and French kiss the morningWhile some marching band keepsIts own beat in my headWhile we're talkingAbout all of the things that I long to believeAbout love the truth and what you mean to meAnd the truth is, baby you're all that I needI wanna lay you down in a bed of rosesFor tonight I sleep on a bed of nailsOh, I wanna be just as close as the Holy Ghost isAnd lay you down on a bed of roses
Staying on a property which my Grandfather built, we just had to get this one. T.F.T.C
Found it! An early start this morning with the aim to complete the recently published 'Siren of the Sea' GeoArt plus several other caches along the way. First log was signed at 06:38, the last at 13:19. Majority of the caches were quick and easy finds with the exception of a few hidden in rockpiles which required a bit more searching. With the weather starting to warm up I came across lots of flies and ants, several sleepy lizards, some kangaroos and 1 brown snake right next to a cache! (#081). With 10 caches left to find in the 'Siren of the Sea' I got notification of 5 new caches published near Port Wakefield so I quickly finished off the series before stopping by on the way home to successfully grab 5 FTF's!TFTC!
Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. After 3 months on the geotrail, we're heading west towards home, picking up smilies.TFTC Margieh, a nice little memorial.TNCU
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. After being in this beautiful State for nigh on three months it is time for us to head back home. Spending a few days in Moonta to cache the surrounds. Thanks Margieh
Found after attending the 'Another Bakery- Ardrossan' event, touring the upper Yorke Peninsula in search of caches that were located along backroads and a little more difficult to get to than those closer to the main thoroughfares. Thanks for the cache Margieh!
Nice memorial to loved ones..They didn't have to wait long to be together again!Found the Astro throwdown easy enough.TNLNSL Thanks
Geocaching takes you to some amazing places.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Saturn's Day the twentieth of Julius Caesar's Month in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a cool cloudy and raining. No wind today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Headed over to the YP for some cache maintenance, stopped by on the way to collect a smilie here, a nice memory for the family, a quick find on a new log bookTFTC Margieh
The cache was missing..It has now been replaced and all good to go..Cheers Margieh
No bed of roses for me. My GPS narrowed in on the big hollow tree. My fingers got very personal with every hollow I could find. Found lots of rocks but no cache. Too well hidden for me. Widened my search for other hollows but came up cache empty TftChallenge
Saw a couple of caches pop up. Seemed a nice day for a drive. Even Purrfect Di agreed (that's why she's purrrrrrrfect )What could this one possibly be? Roses out here??? Oh... A fine memorial. Thanks Margieh for this cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance ---------------- ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid caches falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of --------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! PS:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Almost there - less than a week to go! GCA1DNA - Great Leap Forward ... or is it backward... it takes an extra day to get to March 29.2.24 The Mega Leap Event of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And don't forget to put the SA June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... fun and funky finding with a little competition too - GCAK1D5 - Lameroo's Ludicrous Legwarmers
Yay! First To Find at 7.05pm after a day on the fishy trail. What a great way to finish the day!TFTC MargieHA lovely simple and tasteful tribute
