On our way home from Toronto, I parked at the southern gate on the firetrail and went for an afternoon walk. It was not far to this cache and it was found just off the track, nicely hidden. Thanks for a good hide along a very pleasant trail.
Find#2201Found today just after I had to attend the Hunter Cross country at Avondale University (go Maitland). Kids ran well and I had an early mark so I came to finish off this series. I hope to see more caches on the area. A great walk. My feet are killing me but Ive done my steps for the day nowCache and log in great condition. TFTC
Driving in from Newport Road, I parked just outside the gate while noticing there was quite a number of utes parked just inside, and having seen a few trail bikes both in utes and on the road on the way in, I wondered if perhaps doing these caches on a Sunday wasn't such a good idea. A bit late to reconsider, though, so I got the MTB out of the back of the car and was about to set off when a large truck came up the road and through the gate. Waiting for its dust to settle, I was pleased to see it pull into a driveway on the right a short way in, but just after I set off a couple of ambulances came along behind me. After asking me if I was familiar with the area, which I wasn't, they continued on but stopped again when they met a trail bike rider. It seems they were trying to find a house on Hawke Mount Road but had gotten lost. After they turned around and headed back out, I was finally able to set off after this cache. Phew!I was pleased to see this cache was a short way off the road so I was able to pull over out of the way of all the trail bikes that were now coming and going. A quick find with everything in good condition, many thanks for the hide.
#7738 ***FTF***We were at Brisbane Airport when these were published, and wondered if we'd get a look in by the time we got home.... but after getting home and doing a rudimentary unpack, we headed off to try our luck in fading afternoon light. We elected to leave the bikes and just get a few of the lower hanging fruit of the trail.Finding the firetrail gate open we hesitated a bit then drove in, as there were no signs prohibiting access. We lost our nerve a bit seeing some excavator movement on nearby private property within the gated area, and were spooked at the thought of being locked in, so made a quick dash for #10 then called it a day. Thanks for the cache!
#7738After a weekend in Brisbane, its time for some local new ones, maybe even some FTFs end of copy paste As the light is fading, this was our last one. Got most of the way and then found the gate open, but being late and there were a few excavators driving around the nearby property, we decided to just grab the one, not wanting to be locked inside! Either way, another ***FTF*** for the tally! TNLN SLThanks for placing and maintaining this cache Ecca
