Solved by a JAMS member. Found with Mogni. This was supposed to be a quick lower, stamp and keep going with our journey. This took longer than expected. The cache was sighted in the clouds, pole got extended, the pole bent and i mean really bent, I think the pole would have snapped if allister hadn't reinforced the tip. Change spot and raise the pole again. the pole bent and i mean really bent, I think the pole would have snapped if allister hadn't reinforced the tip, ok that is twice now, time for the ladder - extension pole combo. Attempt 1 pole didn't bend this time since hook is on a thicker part of the pole but the magnet still wins. Climb up higher on the ladder, raise pole again, cache goes flying literally off the structure, stamp log. Examine cache, there is a problem, no evil strong magnet and can't see magnet on the ground. Evil strong magnet is still on the structure, i broke the glue holding magnet to cache. It also turns out my hook on extension pole is really attracted to magnets too, replaced cache back in place after the 5th time. Evil strong magnet is holding the cache on the structure very well, i might need to get a plastic hook for caches like this, instead of the steel one i currently have. Fav point for the enterternment of getting the cache down.
That one really didnt want to come down. It was stuck there good. We almost left half the ToTT hanging, but eventually managed to do the task. I found your D4.5/T2.0 Micro Mystery called Windy in the Clouds on 20 Oct 2024. It was find #19263 for me. Thank you Freddo for placing this cache for our enjoyment in the wonderful state of South Australia.
This was todays gift cache between an event and a CITO where both the groundwork and the retrieval of the cache was outsourced. A convoy arrived at GZ which fortunately has an abundance of parking. It was indeed very windy this morning, and it looked like we were dealing with a strong magnet here, and always keeping an eye on the worst possible outcome, I had visions of the proverbial potentially hitting the fan. However FeatherWaite is a dab hand with a TOTT, and the cache was retrieved and replaced with a minimum of fuss in these non-ideal conditions. Plus no further paint was removed from the host. This was a most satisfying interlude on the way to the CITO, thanks for placing it Damn Freddo.
Found in transit between 'The search for S.A.'s best Pasty 001' and 'Sellicks CITO' in the company of JJ52, Morgo the geo and Otter61. The trusty home-made TOTT was deployed to make the retrieval and the resounding 'twang' of the return, very happy that all went according to plan. Thanks for the puzzle and cache Damn Freddo!
In between events, we hatched a plan to undertake some non-destructive physical property testing on rare earth magnets. FeatherWaite had a magnet proof pole and under the guidance of some esteemed caches, he tried to test the ductile to brittle transition of his aluminium pole. Thankfully the pole didnt pass through the boundary of the phase diagram and stayed in the ductile zone.Log duly signed and cache snapped well and truly into place.Favourite for unique code and placement Freddo, I found Windy in the Clouds today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
Solved this one soon after publishing once I found the right code, and knew exactly where the cache was hidden without even going there, but didn't have a clue when I was ever going to get my name in the log!Well today at a nearby event a plan was hatched to stop off here on our way to a CITO thanks to featherwaite and his most excellent TOTT. Three of us stood and watched as the cache was expertly retrieved and lowered. Signed the log and cache replaced with a resounding whack. Thanks for the cache Freddo.
A cipher I hadn't seen before but got a solve, today at GZ I bought my strong arms, that is one strong magnet. As I removed the cache a rather large piece of paint came off too. Signed and much easier to put back on.This morning after staying in Reynella for the evening I headed to and event and Cito at Christies Beach, afterwards I headed around the southern area before making my way home via a few caches. Thanks for the cache
Lots of images of a bloke dancing. I bet the frog was dancing after placing this one. A quick solve for many, but few stepped up to the plate, for the plate was tricky due to its elevation. The street view showed an epic location with plenty of gnarly elevated locations. I bet doineedthis was regretting handing over so many, it just tempts the CO, and with his head in the clouds, he has capitalised. He would have been giddy with excitement.A suggestion was made for the retrieval during a session of dance, and I grinned with excitement. The only thing, it would have to be completed in the dark. Could we do it, maybe. Plans were still tentative as I parked it overnight. The mind mulled it over. I had some ideas, I didnt want either of my poles to be damaged, there had to be a better way. I came up with a custom windy idea. Necessity is the mother of all inventions and I thought I had something that could work. Monday was go.We arrived and spied the hide with my keen little spotty, then set about reefing the big pole and strapping it up ready for the dance. I hooked it on, but no amount of pushing or pulling was successful. Eventually something gave, and it wasnt the magnet, a normal collapse of an upper section into its parent was evident, too much pushing. Plan B was employed. This worked really well, but a max of 5kg tensile strength was not enough to budge this uber magnet. It was time for the big guns. Plan C. Lets increase the tensile strength. It took a while to get line #2 into place, and the magnet was no match for this one. As he left the structure I could hear a small sigh as its strength was overcome. He took flight and the cache was ours for the inking. Grins all round, maybe a little fist pump, no one can see, its dark here. Signed and then it was time for the return, which went without incident. Thanks for the challenge Freddo, it was a very enjoyable way to spend part of Monday evening. Found and signed in the company of doineedthis. Find #9623. FP4U
High above the bustling world, Windy the Cloud drifted aimlessly, always looking for a bit of excitement. "Today's the day," Windy puffed himself up, "I'll find an adventure so grand, even the sun will be jealous!"As Windy floated by, he spotted Puffy, the fluffiest cloud in the sky, who was lazily soaking up the morning sun."Hey, Puffy! Feel like joining me on a daring adventure beyond the horizon?" Windy called out.Puffy squinted lazily, "Why not? It's not like I've got anything better to do!"As they floated higher, they stumbled upon a rather peculiar scene. There, amidst the colorful clouds, was Mr. Frog, a green, warty menace with a sinister glint in his eye and a suspiciously dark rain cloud under his arm."Well, well, well, if it isn't Windy and Puffy," croaked Mr. Frog, rubbing his webbed hands together. "What brings you two to my part of the sky?""We're on an adventure!" said Windy, his voice full of breezy enthusiasm. "What are you up to, Mr. Frog?"Mr. Frog let out a croaky chuckle, "Oh, just brewing up a little storm to spoil the suns picnic. Care to join?"Puffy gasped, "Spoil the sun's picnic? That's terrible!"Windy narrowed his eyes, "Not on our watch, Mr. Frog. Were here to spread cheer, not rain on parades!"Mr. Frog grinned wickedly, "We'll see about that. My storm's almost ready to go, and theres nothing you can do to stop it!"With that, Mr. Frog released his dark rain cloud, and it started to grow bigger and darker by the second. Windy and Puffy knew they had to act fast."Quick, Puffy! We need to gather the cheerful clouds and form a rainbow!" Windy exclaimed.Puffy sprang into action, summoning the brightest and fluffiest clouds. Together, they formed a spectacular rainbow that arched across the sky, right in the path of Mr. Frog's storm. The storm cloud collided with the rainbow and, to Mr. Frogs dismay, burst into a shower of sparkles and sunshine."Noooo!" Mr. Frog wailed, hopping madly. "My beautiful storm, ruined!"Windy and Puffy high-fived (or high-puffed, in their case). "Adventure accomplished!" Windy laughed. "And it looks like Mr. Frog's plans have been washed away!"As they floated away, Mr. Frog shook his tiny fists at them, "You may have won this time, but I'll be back!"Windy chuckled, "Oh, I'm counting on it, Mr. Frog. After all, what's an adventure without a little mischief?"And so, Windy and Puffy continued their journey through the skies, always ready for the next adventure, and always keeping an eye out for their warty nemesis, Mr. Frog.
I managed to solve this one yesterday afternoon but as I'm not an FTF whore I decided to let it sit.I noticed that it still hadn't been found this morning so I was hatching a plan to go this afternoon and get it. I then got a call from Astro who had also solved it wanting me to join him. Why not.We made our way to GZ and then spotted the cache, which we eventually got down after repairing Astro's pole.No names in the book, which we signed in the rain.TFTC
It was windy. But not quite in the cloud(s). . What Waldron said. Yes - has to add a bit of tape to the pole to increase the number of newtons required to break it! Even so quite a bit of paint was scraped! from the structure. Id say the structure is due for an overall paint job pretty soon. Copped a bit of rain in the process and got soaked. Had to change the ol trousers when I got home! Thanks Freddo and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!
