This is the second nearest cache to my flat so Im glad to have found the chance to tick it off! Great read about the history of the area. Took me a few mins to look in the right place but got there in the end! Thank you.

Visiting Sydney for four days to attend a conference. In between the schedule when I had free time, I picked up some labs and caches in the city that had cropped up since I was last in town earlier in the year.I had just finished up dinner at the Lord Roberts Hotel and had a scan of the map to see if anything had cropped up in the area since my last visit earlier in the year. Sure enough, there was a cache not far away. Interesting history, a themed codeword and a nearby final. Nice work. Cheers Calypso62! Big Grin

Quick find with geokids after lunch nearby and on our way to the bus stop to go back home. What a nice little park with a thriving community garden surrounded by cute plant-filled, terrace-house-lined alleyways. TFTC Calypso62!

Headed to the city after celebrating a fellow cacher's 10th cache-aversary at Kingsgrove this morning, lured here by 3 pretty new C62/TFTC caches. This was the third and I was surprised to be able to get parking spot close by, indeed right outside #193. Getting what I needed there wasn't a problem, but I had to wait for some muggles to move on before I could retrieve the cache and sign the visitor book. Another well crafted multi and hide C62 and a really interesting back story ... well done, and thanks!

Came into the city today to go to an exhibition at the Australian Museum. I arrived earlier than I needed to so headed for this cache.I made my way to WP1 and quickly spotted the word on the pole.A short walk to GZ brought me to a nice spot.I initially searched in slightly the wrong spot but soon spotted something that I had seen in a previous log photo.Had to wait a couple of minutes for a muggle and his dog to move on before replacing the container. Thanks for bringing me to a part of the city I havent been to before.SL TFTC Awarding a favourite point.

After the E.T. Phone Home on Observatoray Hill this morning I went down to a bus stop which I found, and was much nearer than the one the transport app suggested. Technology huh.Well I was in my element!! There were 4 Canadian muggle tourists at the bus stop, and on the bus. They had just arrived from Vancouver this morning. They were eager to hear about great spots to visit in our fantastic city, it's history and development as we waited for the bus and travelled along. I gave a running commentary all the way to Hyde Park, their destination. Not far from there I alighted from the bus and walked to my destination in Palmer Street. I've driven down this street many times but never walked here. It's an interesting street and area. Now this area is of significance to one of my ancestors who won entry to East Sydney Tech here in Darlinghurst in the razor gang era but was not allowed to take up the offer as Darlo was not a suitable place for young ladies to visit, not even to study. Makes me wonder how my life would have differed if she had fulfilled her dream to study here and what direction her life would have taken. Well now to the cache. Found the clue at GZ but it was hard to decipher as one of the letters is wearing thin. Made a stab at it and the checker liked it. So off to GZ, a really long walk in this sleazy neighbourhood. Found the cache where I expected.I've never been in a "Pocket Park" before. The space is really well used.TFTC # 6196

I was in the vicinity this morning for a medical appointment (no razors or other sharp implements involved though!) and with about 20 minutes to kill (pun intended) I thought I'd give this a go. There were two parking signs in close proximity but my GPSr settled showing zero metres at one of them and I quickly spotted the keyword. The checker agreed, so it was off to GZ. Upon arriving there, I realised I'd forgotten to read the hint in the checker so had to reopen it, but once done it was quick find. Everything is in excellent condition. Many thanks for the history lesson and enjoyable multi, for the record I arrived at the appointment with 5 minutes to spare but the doctor was running 30 minutes late.

For our regular Sunday public transport caching adventures, today we headed into the Sydney CBD to visit the David Jones Archives Exhibition on the eighth floor of their Elizabeth Street store, then walked through Hyde Park and down Liverpool Street to Darlinghurst for a new C62 MultiCache, before returning to Hyde Park to enjoy our pre-packed picnic lunch. On our return journey we stopped off at Artarmon for a previously DNFed AussiePam Traditional cache.Caught a 280 bus to Chatswood and a T9 train to Wynyard Railway Station, where we changed to a T8 train to St James Railway Station, providing us with close access to the David Jones store across the road. The return journey was via a T1 train from Wynyard to Chatswood, with a stop-off at Artarmon, and then a 280 bus back to home. This was the 1st of 2 finds for the day. After visiting the David Jones Archives Exhibition we walked through Hyde Park and down Liverpool Street to Darlinghurst for this new C62 MultiCache in Palmer Street. Arrived at WP1 and quickly located the required codeword, which was duly entered into the geo-checker, and we were soon heading off to final GZ. Arrived at final GZ and made a nice quick find of a very familiar C62 style camo. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. We had learned of the Razor Gang's exploits, and the "Queen of Woolloomooloo" Tilly Devine, whilst visiting the Police Museum down at Circular Quay some time ago, so it was nice to visit one of the infamous "places of interest" for this cache today. 18 July 2024 There was a whole kindergarten of gorgeous small people at GZ.I'd come on foot from the Outer Regions so returning was not an option. So I tried explaining to the leaders what geocacing was, and that crawling round their charges was not at all creepy.... The kids all loved my anics. Possibly the adults not so much ..... (And I concealed my cut throat razor)But they all loved the find, and swore secrecy.Thank you Calypso. I did enjoy the histort lesson and my visit to this colourful area.

#14643 15:00I have been a razor man all my life. Every morning I use my trusted blades to remove the stubbies from my face. Once I was shaved with a cutthroat razor. It felt like my skin was peeled and I did not have to shave for a whole week. But I've never been part of the razor gang, let alone even heard of it. So it was an interesting journey through the underworld of Darlinghurst back in the old days. The cache page made for some interesting reading and I loveD the way where you have hidden the cache. Amazing how you always seem to find these interesting places. TFTC C62

On a glorious winters day frazeydaze and I jumped on a bus and headed for 191 Palmer Street, Darlinghurst where we quickly found the necessary code word. Over the years I've watched a couple of TV shows that recaptured the past razor gang days. At gz it was frazeydaze who first spotted the cache container and did the signing duties. As we had the area to ourselves we had a walk around, checking out the community garden, conversing with the wombats and reading about the good deeds of Frances Newton whom the area was named after. TFTC Calypso62.

Accompanied oldmorty on an adventure to Darlinghurst. Having seen a couple of television shows about Tilly Devine and the razor gangs, it's hard to imagine what went on back then, in and around this area of Sydney nowadays. Thanks, Calypso62, for bringing us here.

Because of this cache, I decided to train it in and walk to Edgecliff from Central, where I am picking up a musical instrument. Caches along the way make life much more fun. Tftc B. Have a fave point. This is what they are for.

I visited Darlo by day, when the inner city vibe is quite relaxed - people walking the dog, or sipping coffee in the sun. By night I may have met a woman who might say palindromically "I AM MADAM MAI", or meet her RAZAR gang in a dark alley. A much more colourful place, where Sydney may still reveal her underbelly, although the 'red light' has been turned off here for a long time, and even the door is no longer red, but has marooned with age. We had previously planned to come into the city to cache today. It was nice to find a new cache to add to our list as we walked around. Thank you Calypso62 for this interesting multi and the summary of this bit of history.

Yay a joint [FTF] with GHHH, and this really was a joint find. This one popped up just as I was about to head off on the cycle home. Small diversion hit WP1 at the exact same time as GHHH! Both did the certitude and off for the find. Enjoyed the chat. What a surprise, FTF gift perfect for two! Ive been past this place on several lunchtime strolls, a lovely location, thank for placing a cache here Calypso62 #2749

Joint [FTF] with JG9172Raced over here as fast as we could despite the snail slow traffic. Arrived and as I hopped out, I saw another cacher here, it was JG! I thought he had already got it, but he hadnt so we arrived at the perfect time. We both did WP1 and headed to the final where the nicely camouflage cache was find. We split the FTF prize , and hope to win ??. Signed and replaced. After a small chat we headed off. Thanks C62 for the fun!TFTC!
