Logs
**22,277**Finally, we have found the time to start this series that we solved soon after publication. It was a long day (almost 8 hours) and with a fair number (10%) of DNF's or MIA's (They are to be confirmed by the owners at a later stage), but we guess that was to be expected four months down the track since placement. Lots of fun had, along with some frustration, so all in all a typical Geckoh caching day. Sorry for the cut and paste logs but we will try to brighten them up with a Dad joke or two!!I'm pretty sure my dad's favorite animal was a buffalo... Because the last word he ever said to me was "Bison."
Got these along time ago when they were published we got some FTF. I was car sick most of the day so have put logging these on hold just got reminded by the team that I havent logged these yet. So here are my cut and paste logs
I was heading down to Taupo to take part in the Taupo Ultramarathon, running 24km from Kinloch to Waihopai Bay on the W2K mountain bike trails. I left a couple of days earlier for some geocaching while I was in the area.I had most of the day to spend caching before I had to be back at the Taupo Events Centre for registration and compulsory gear check. So my plan was to make a dent in the 101 Bison puzzles that I had solved, so I didn't have to hit all 101 when I travel to Rotorua for another half marathon in a couple of weeks.
Out and about hunting Bison today. Luckily the rain has stoped but it's a bit chilly. After a sucessful find we knew where we were going, back to the camper to prepare for day two of our bison search, thanks for today's fun TFTC.
After recovering from surgery last week it was time to have a slow solo trip to hunt some more bison. The locals were friendly and no rain while I was there. Thanks for the work that went into this
Well where to begin?? After many nights studying and pondering I finally managed to sort out some of the many bison caches out there in rural Rotorua. Now to go and catch me some!! Where to start though. Blimmin heck I have no idea. So I picked the closest road to me and off I went for an afternoons caching with the geopooch. Holy smokes the COs have done a massive effort to place all these caches out there. I was totally all over the place doing u turns and going along gravel roads, not to mention the beaut views and wonderful areas our region has. I love being taken off the beaten track to discover new areas and geocaching certainly does that. After a long afternoon (4 hrs) I managed to find 27 bison and 3 traditionals on my travels and took my total over 500 so pretty stoked. A long way to go before the full bison has been found but a great start. TFTC
After Event EyespyBen decided maybe we go down country to find some BisonNext morning up early and away we go pick up KGDThe weather was spot onWe did a group sign KEAMost of them were quick findsSome trickyAs we were in no hurryStop for lunch & ice creamHad some laughs so all and all it was a great dayThanks
As dedicated driver, nav man and committed u turner spent a lovely day with KGD and ABCDF4down country lookin at the bison series,lotsa good hides, some dnfs, but a neat seriesthanks to the Co for the placements.
On a day trip with ABCDF4 and eyespyben with intention to see how much of a herd of bison we could gather. In the end we spent about 6hrs and had ticked off over 70. All logs were signed KEA (Kaygeedee Eyespyben Abcdf4)Heading for home soon so knew what direction to take here.Thank you for the placement
Oh goody. The weather is forecasted to be fine all day. A good day to brand some more bisons.Pick the wrong one and you might be going around in circles like the font.Cheers for the cache, Reschedul & Kiwi Does Stuff.
Heading away with tmann421 for a couple of days.Spent two half days up here collecting the Bison Series.Found many different hides and traveled roads varying from seal to gravel to windy to narrow.Enjoyed the seriesSigned log tm/ww NZTFTC
It was a beautiful, sunny winter's day, so matagouri and I headed to Rotorua to launch a second attack on the beastial bison roaming the area.This time we opted for a more discreet mode of transport, leaving the campervan behind, and taking the micro mobile, that can park in the smallest of gaps.Apart from the odd muggle issue, there weren't too many issue's making the finds.Thanks for setting up this awesome series.There were quite a few hiding places here, but it was tracked down eventually.
Found on a short trip away with woolwood9.Our first day on the ***Bison Trail*** - we started around 4-00pm and stopped for the night just before 10-00pm.No trouble here, got the find then onto the next one. Most quick easy finds, but certainly a few very tricky hides and some took a lot of looking. SL *tm/ww NZ**Thanks for the fun puzzle cache series!*
A sunny winter Saturday, an opportunity for rattll and I to make a day-trip from Hamilton in the geomobile, rather than bring the much larger campervan to stay overnight. This time we came down SH1 to Atiamuri, and approached the area from the west. Most of the caches were quickly found, one or two took a bit longer. Parking was much easier in the small geomobile. Thanks for putting out this series. For some reason, this one felt like it took an age to find, but not actually that difficult to spot (once seen). Felt very exposed to nearby house. Tftc!
{FTF} With / logged as Team BoPI was one date short of completing the Trad a Day / 365 Challenge (GCA73Q3). The 28th of June was my last gap on the calendar, and as luck would have it, fell on Matariki Friday. I had been planning a different mission with the Team, but this Bison Trail dropped conveniently overnight. Plans changed rapidly as we went into puzzling mode - One of our group worked like a machine and churned out solve after solve through the night... Our successes today are largely due to his efforts!It didnt matter how we approached this one Another first - Thanks KDS. TFTP and TFTC.
TeamBOP planned a long overdue mission to Waikato, but plans suddenly changed overnight when this series was published.Thanks to one member who decided sleep can wait, we had the corrected coords of the complete series ready to go in the morning, so we hit the road early to try grab as many FTF's as we could.[FTF] on this one. Tftc
Saw these come out and big change of plans for Team BOP Big night doing the solves and off the next day to collect the caches. Lots of fun and great to be out with fellow cachers today. Thanks from r setting this mission up much appreciated. TFTC . Bit tricky but Joint {FTF}
On a mish with the team. (Team BoP) Bern a long time since our last trip together. A great day for it and a fab way to celebrate Matariki. A quick change of plans last night after this series was published. What a team effort!! Which way indeed, took us longer than it should have. A man was mowing close by and probably hindered our stealthiness, perseverance paid off and another Joint {Ftf}. Many thanks.
