Photo art way to the cache before I realised we didnt have the ToTT. A quick call back to the ToTT lady and she bought it to us. I found your D2.5/T3.0 Small Traditional called The Saga of the Swamp Thing on 23 Nov 2024. It was find #19294 for me. Thank you Freddo for placing this cache for our enjoyment in the wonderful state of South Australia.
With two events down south this morning I decided to find a few caches around the area before heading home. A short walk into this one, Morgo the geo did the work with my TOTT, cache lowered signed and replaced. Thanks for the hide.
I tagged along with the group into the swamp, but stayed back a little so I didn't get wet feet. The TOTT was deployed and the cache lowered for us all to sign, then replaced as found. Even managed to pick up a bit more rubbish. Thanks for the cache Freddo.
Again a group effort. With instructions on TOTT use from the foreman and safety officers, we succeeded in getting our names on the log book.I did get wet feet too.Freddo, I found The Saga of the Swamp Thing today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
I found this one with friends as part of a group effort while attending the nearby CITO this morning. Thanks Freddo for the cache.
After hearing about ankle deep water I bought my gum boots for this one. They weren't needed as I found enough dryish ground to get the cache down and back up.TFTC
Forgot my totts tge other day, so had to wait till today...Quickly located and retrieved cache. Now to dry swamp gunk off my shoesGotta love the stories COs come up with! LolTNLNSL
WayneAPN has been all work lately and no play lately so I flicked him a message during the week to see if I could drag his sorry looking butt out for a few caches today And so a plan was hatched to head down South to Callington, Woodchester and Strathalbyn for the day.The weather is cool and some showers are expected but that wont deter us at all.Cache quickly found here and log signedTFTC
Work has been hectic for the last few weeks. Unkind shift work and crowdstrike along with visiting our regional sites to sort them out.Cheezel1961 felt sorry for me and invited me out for a day caching. Targeting a few choice caches and high T ones.Great hide. Signed Logbook.TFTC SL
found with Mogni. We needed a break from cleaning my house. Started walking down the trail, looked at the logs, need a extension pole. Back to the car. Back down the trail again. Looked up and saw the cache, looked down when i lowering the cache i wouldn't be in the water, just. Water level id 1 foot away. Lower cache, feet start getting wet, i sunk in to the mud, water table is only 1.5 cms below ground level. Stamp log and return cache to lofty heights. I guess my waterproof shoes aren't waterproof any more after the last JuneLongWeekend Event.
I can see the cache but there is no way I can get to it. It was seen to me a bit difficult than a 3 unless you bring the appropriate equipment.
A rather dismal day, weather wise, but not too bad really. Wanted to come over to this side of town to pick up some music so of course some caching was going to be done afterwards. This was the fourth, probably should have been the third, of six found while in the immediate area, then two more were found on the longer way home.Did have gumboots with me but decided to hope that the waterproof hiking boots would be sufficient. Headed off with what I also hoped would be the required TOTT along the path towards GZ. Cache was spotted soon after venturing off the path and into the swamp I went. A quick retrieve, stamp and replace then back to drier land with the boots having kept the feet dry. Thanks to Freddo the Frogman for adding to the playing field with this cache.Smilie #15054.*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*
Was WFH yesterday when the notification went out for this new cache and was prepared to do the 5min dash from home during my lunchbreak to get FTF, however a plumbing issue at home took precedence over a FTF.Noted Featherwaite's log and came prepared with 2 TOTTS - one to retrieve the cache + gumboots to tackle the swamp. Arrived on dusk with a light rain falling, which meant the area was deserted. Saw the cache silhouetted against the fading sunset and made a quick retrieval while ankle deep in the swampy water. Cache log signed and cache reinstated up on high.Fav point for the fun in retrieving this one!
Isnt it strange how your plans for the morning can change at a whim? Do I spend a few hours gardening in the drizzle and getting my shoes soggy in the process, or noticing a couple of FTF opportunities, head out caching in the drizzle and getting my shoes saturated in a swamp? The latter won. Luckily I had the retrieval device strapped to the roof racks, so back to vehicle, return to GZ, assemble the pole, and unhook the container at the very limits of a full stretch. Very happy to find a blank logbook for a rewarding*FTF*. Now to crank up the floor heater on the drive back home to dry those shoes off! Thanks for the cache Freddo!
