The Dunedin Mega was logged as my 2900th. Eight and a bit years of looking dodgy and having fun. I have 187 days to get that number to 3000, should be easily achievable. Nice to meet you all, thanks for organizing. Bring it on!

This is day five of my Dunedin Mega trip (and my last day), the first time I've ever been here before (never mind geocaching). Obviously with such a plethora of caches to find there's going to be plenty I'll skip but I hope to find my targets.Unfortunately logging is going to be generic, but thank you to all the cache owners and event organisers for the things you do.Today is for milling around, picking up some remaining target caches and generally sight seeing now that the rain has finally left. Great to see so many people at the wrap up.

We attended Handover to Block Party 2025 on a nice quiet weekend visiting Dunedin for Geo Toroa, meandering through the suburbs, seeking the occasional cache.A great turnout for the final event. Lovely to meet everyone again and say our farewells. Went back to car to put on gummies and was then asked if going over to cache as need someone with gummies. Off we went, lots of happy cachers. Back to event for more chatting and than you's then off caching as you do. Huge thanks Team Otago for an amazing Mega, events and CACHES.
The end!! Oh what a relief says Pengi, we can now have a rest. A lot of work but what a result. Weather stood no chance of dampening this Mega. Great to work with a fabulous team and be allowed to test out our field puzzle skills on this great community of people. Mrs McMike2012 & I were up early to pack up & hook up to the caravan, with a short drive into GZ at Bathgate Park after a bit of milling around talking with fellow Cachers, the log-book appeared & was duly signed off a quick hello & a big thank you to Natalie247 & then we were off heading towards Christchurch with a bit of caching to be done on the way thanks again to everyone involved in or that attended the Mega Cheers Michael & Raewynne (McMike2012)

Day 4 (last) of our mega trip and today was planned to be a bit more focussed on some specific caches or places some of the crew wanted to visit. However we ensured we remained close by to stop in here. Our accommodation is booked and we are ready to come along!!Thanks for organising!!
Today's task was to find some, if not all, of the Octagon series of letterbox caches plus any other caches near to my planned route that took my fancy. As it had just gone 10:00am I made my way to this event. By the time I got there cachers were already departing to seek caches elsewhere. I found the logbook and quickly signed it before departing to continue today's quest. I hope to make the Block Party in Rotorua next year 2025
Thought I would come and see if I could get any clues on what is happening next year. Looks like Pengi is going so must do my best to spoil his plans. Nice and wet on the grass today, could have a nice paddle. See you all soon, but will you see me?
Today was day 4 of our visit to Dunedin for the Mega event. Today we just stuck around the Dunedin area picking up caches and ad lab points as we encountered them, including previously solved puzzles. We have signed most logs with SEAC as there are 5 caching names between our group of seven; Keylev, UncleSam, NZTravellers, Stik-a-crane and us. Lots of fun had and memories made with great friends. All a bit tired now and ready for home. Just a few more caches first.Great to catch up with people here.

Last event before we start our trip home but not the last of our mega adventures. Up for the Dunedin Toroa meg and a whole lot of czching fun, time to explore and meet new friends. Up early for our last full day of geocaching in the Dunedin area.Attended. Said our "goodbyes" and sincere "thanks" and we're off to find one specific cache GCCCFB, and others on the way there and nearby. "Thanks everyone for a great weekend." See you all again in May 2025.

Some lazy Monday caching as I decide when I'll point the car towards Christchurch, which is home. Sweeping up some solved puzzles and a couple of others that I'm driving past.Planning on attending Rotorua next year.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap) Were here for Geo Toroa (Dunedin Mega). Between flight cancellations and re-routing, things could only get better, right? But wait, theres more! Somewhere on our caching escapades, I dropped my wallet Its still at large, so if anyone finds itOne of us usually drives, the other is the retriever. That works for us. Weve either logged caches with our separate handles, or weve used FANGS to sign the logbook. Using the latter handle is more for mental health and well being. Its tiring having to write 15 + characters on each logbookWeve experienced some of the most atrocious caching weather conditions this Mega weekend. So it was a bit of a bitter pill to swallow when the day dawned clear and bright Up early to pack our wet, muddy clothes and give the room and hire vehicle a quick spruce, and then we were out the door! Let the mad dash to the airport beginWe barely had time to blink, let alone sign the logbook. But we did need to attend this event considering the next Mega is in our home city Signed as myself (cue the writers cramp). Bathgate Park had enough distractions to pull us away, so we didnt hang around long enough for the festivities Thanks Team Otago. TFTE.
It's been a magic weekend, despite the weather. We did adjust our plans somewhat due to the weather, but we will be back again. I had a lot of fun sharing it with other cachers. NZ Mega done proud, I reckon. Looking forward to the Block Party already.NZ_B and I are on a road trip to the Geo Toroa Mega and back. I'm also aiming for a multi every day, so it is now titled the "Mega Multi Road Trip". Today is Day 10 and it is Devine Day. We are off south of Dunners to find some forestry roads full of caches and the devine cache. Then onwards again. A quick visit to this event to say farewells, and then we were off. Thank you one and all for conversation, smiles, and especially to the organising committee.
I was several minutes early and there was alread y quite a gathering. Took the opportunity to wander off and grab the information for a couple of multi's.
Finally the Labour Weekend is upon us, and like so many around NZ I am heading down to Dunedin to attend the Mega event there, in the wonderful company of friends. Six of us are sharing accommodation and have effectively decided to be a 'team' for the weekend. An awful lot of logs ended up signed MINTYS.This would be the last (for me) of several events over the course of the weekend. I'm very keen on attending events so I'm glad that our team was also happy to attend them. It was also great to be able to hold the event outdoors on a sunny day after all the 'interesting' weather we've had over the previous 2 days. Thank you, and well done TeamOtago for putting together a fantastic series of events for us to enjoy over the weekend. What you've achieved is going to be a tough act to follow for whichever town/city decides to pick up the torch for the next NZ Mega. You can rightly feel proud of all your efforts.

This weekend I am visiting Dunedin (from Wellington) to attend the 2024 Geo Toroa Mega event. Obviously, while I'm down here, I will also be out and about looking for other geocaches in the region. Here is one I found.It's the last day of this trip, and we had a big day planned. First stop (with a few geocache finds along the way of course) was this event to say some farewells, or more rightly some see-ya-laters as I suspect a good number of those here will also be at the Block Party next year.---Thanks to the Cache Owner for placing and maintaining this geocache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.All logs signed with the name MINTYS to represent the team of Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, YetiNZ, and the Seagnoid.
Its sad to reach the last official event for the weekend. But exciting to celebrate that a Block Party will soon be happening in New Zealand. Im glad the community will be able to celebrate 25 years of geocaching together. It was fun to meet the Block Party host over the weekend. I will be the walking wounded. As many noted my right arm in a cast and black eye. This was due to an altercation between me and the road out the back of Outram while doing one of the D/T caches where part of bank gave way. However Im not going to do the same in Rotorua when I get there for the Block party. Well done on getting that status. See you on May
