Find #: 3,788Companions: NoneMuggles: Some walkersWeather: Warm spring afternoonCache condition: GoodAfter drinks at work earlier in the week I headed to WP1 to catch the metro home. I retrieved the details with no issues, but decided to leave the find until today, when I went there at lunchtime. Once at GZ I didn't have to wait too long to find a gap in the muggles traffic - TNLNSL, thanks for sharing an interesting snippet of history I may not have otherwise noticed.
A stunning day for a quick trip into town on the fancy new Metro. Such an interesting point of interest. No problem here, waited out the foot traffic and soon had the cache back in its home. TFTC!
I love these little snippets of history that the CO finds around the city. I do hope the Barangaroo Boat gets restored and goes on show at the Maritime Museum one day. Cache all good. SLRC as found. TFTC
Hey I was here a couple of weeks ago but didn't realise this cache was here. Fast forward to today when I am attending the Remembrance Day luncheon at Parliament House, hosted by Legacy. Whenever I'm in the city I like to try and find a cache so I decided this would be it as I could get the Metro (Metro, got it) from close to Parliament House to Barangaroo and complete this cache. So after the lunch, dressed in all my best gear, which these days I don't often, if ever wear, I came down to Barangaroo. What a remarkable find! I've never seen this imprint before, how amazing to find this preserved boat, and how lucky that it was found now and not 30 years ago when this sort of thing was not valued. Of course it started raining while I was at the pin drop calculating GZ. Got the green light quickly, but what!!! With road works and pedestrian detours that was not a short or good walk in the good clothes in the rain. Luckily once I was getting close to GZ after a round about walk and the GPS not liking the weather and the surrounds, I could see the cache as I approached. Grabbed it, and protected the log from the rain, but not my pen. Hmm, had to rummage in my bag for another pen (getting wetter and wetter here). Signed the log and eventually replaced the cache.I'm amazed at the number of muggles who stopped within a couple of metres of me while I was here! (at least So a successful day and had my good clothes washed along the way too.FP for this kind of history.TFTC # 6329
Another Sydney trip and this boring exercise was collecting random ALsuntil I changed to this one where I could put a pen to use. The new station here is very swish and fortunately the gz wp was on the way back to my hotel. tftc
I have been to Barangaroo Station to have a sticky beak but missed this boat entirely. Located the answer without much difficulty and then off to find GZ. I have driven past here many times, including last night but not walked so saw some interesting places which I had missed. At GZ, the cache was a bit obvious so it was tucked back in its little hide hole. Thanks for another little adventure in the city we all love.
What an amazing story. Fantastic that the boat was found and recovered so well. Somewhat incredible in these days of time equals more money priorities. Collected the details on the journey home and soon had the snug cache in hand. Signed log and returned as found. Thanks for sharing this great story TFTC_Sydney FP #3030
Another excuse to ride the Metro to Barangaroo, so I can get my weekly fix. This was an easy multi on an exhibit outside the station that I had visited not so long ago. The answer was collected, coords worked out, then a short stroll to GZ for a quick find with cryptic8. TFTC Mr TFTC
"Sliver me lumbers, me hearties! There ain't much of that boat left, and she wouldn't stay afloat well!".A quick find at lunchtime. Not very busy around here today. I got a legal park at the top of the stairs. TFTC TFTC_Sydney
*FTF* @ 7:52pm.Was down in Darling Harbour and got the publish noti - turned around walked up to a familiar WP1. 2 solvers before me so was worries that I wouldn't be first, and even got caught on a zoom call for a bit at GZ with no other cachers (or I scared them off). Great to find a blank log... Signed messily - first FTF in a while. Actually had no idea GZ existed but have frequented the way point Thanks!
