Another old school cache done and dusted. Did the cache with Martin cousins and walk from the northern end and felt like we were walking through peoples backyards but all good when we saw the entrance. Walked all the way to the other end to got another cache and was marvelled at the graffiti art on the walls. Walked back up to GZ and quickly had cache in hand. FP awarded for something different. Did the legals and replaced as found. TFTCM Cheers dkmacca
There is certainly a talented artist working graffiti artwork on the tunnel walls. Took some pictures for the cache album. Was asked if I would like to join DKmacca and his geo partner on this walk.Parked at the end of station road, used the trail at the end of this culdesac. Stepped through the fence opening and followed the minor trail leading behind the houses. Was questioned this route by DK as it did initially give us the trespassing feel.Soon after about 200m we stood at the tunnel entrance.Headlamps, torches and then set off with nearly a km walk inside the tunnel.DK spotted a freshwater yabbie in the lightly flowing creek inside the tunnel.Walked the entire tunnel being 1.5kms, to collect the cache at the other entrance and returned.Am so privileged to have completed this, FP, thank you Team Choas
This was a great findWhat can I say that my fellow cacher companions havent said before!?Im not a fan of tunnels but I loved this one! Thanks for the cache! A favourite for me
Found with Toy Hunters, Loci612, baristayan and buckoraider during our weekend Wollongong adventure. This was recommended by Loci612 before the trip and it was one I wasn't leaving without. I enjoy tunnel adventures, but this has way surpassed them all, the walk to GZ involved some jumping over puddles, but it was a fairly easy walk. The abseiling hole was very inviting, it almost made me want to give abseiling down a go!! Of course, the piece of machinery the cache was hidden at was also something to be marvelled at, it left me with so many questions, why, how, what...This is by far going to be one of the most memorable caches I've ever done, every aspect was memorable! Thank you Team Chaos for the cache!
Found with baristayan, buckoraider, Scaphoid and Loci612 (previous finder). We were staying in an Airbnb near Shellharbour for the weekend and made a special effort to drive north to this iconic 2001 cache, Loci reporting that it was one of his favourite caches in Australia. It's probably one of my all time favourites now, boy oh boy wowee! What an incredible experience. The walk was a great mix of leisure but also fun challenges trying to avoid mud and dripping water. The "abseiling" hole was remarkable, what an epic view up to the top. Once we arrived at GZ, we found the well concealed cache soon enough. The end point was great for photos, including an album shoot! I'd love to come back here again sometime, I was hungover and sleep deprived after a fun night on the goon bag, so even though I had a great time, I reckon I'll have an even better time if I choose to be sober the night before. TFTC Team Chaos!
Ahhh yeah this ahh latest record, look we just had the inspiration one weekend when we decided to head on down to Wollongong.I think it was Loci612, uhh yeah definitely Loci he was like you guys have to see this cache man, and I was all like ahh man that looks well lit we gotta go touch some grass man, and from there the record just kinda came together ya know what I mean, it was just magical man.Loci612 showed us where to go, Scaphoid followed him then Baristayan, Toy Hunters and I brought up the rear man. And it was just the most incredible place man, the darkness can only hide so much and we just couldnt stop having these awesome ideas. The coveryeah that was Baristayans idea man shes so good with stuff like that. Once we got into the actual ground zero we had a play around and the camera just kept taking these awesome photos man. I think this might just be our best one yet man, cos like you know its just all about the music and like nothing else really comes into it and Ive just never felt like that working on a record before man.THANKS FOR THE AWESOME CACHE!!!
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Staying at Coledale camping reserve, today we had a lazy day not heading out until 11.00am We had a plan to attempt Dark Side of the Moon and 3 puzzles that Mrs Felix had solved. We arrived just after 11am and were pleased to see that there wasnt too much water oozing out of the tunnel in we went with ummm 6 torches between the 2 of us. It wasnt very long at all before Mrs Felix was way too uncomfortable in the tunnel and headed on out. Mr Felix pushed on alone and thoroughly enjoyed the experience in the tunnel. He came back raving about this and that and how amazing it was! Oh yeah and he found the cache. It didnt take anywhere near as long as we were expecting maybe 35mins[?] Fave point from us. Will post some photos.TFTC Team Chaos
What a beaut cache. Really enjoyed the walk through this tunnel. But gee its dark! The brickwork is still looking pretty good considering its age. We had the tunnel to ourselves and saw a freshwater shrimp in the little stream near the halfway vent. The cache is in very good condition. Nice to finally have our autograph in this logbook. We liked writing todays date - 2/4/24. Finding this cache was a fun experience and gets a Favourite Point from us. Thank you.
The eyes of the more adventurous LegoLad lit up at the possibility of doing this one as an abseil, but I convinced him of the more traditional route today as at the very least a scouting exercise. Coming in from the Northern end I realised that I had actually been here before about 10 years ago after running the Coast Track from Bundeena. We took our time on the way to GZ, checking out all the history of the place including all the equipment left here by the old mushroom farming activities and some of the very creative graffiti! The nicely hidden cache which remains in excellent condition thanks to those who have been maintaining it over time, was soon located and signed. We decided to continue our journey out the other side to check out the views and pick up another couple of caches, before returning. On the return leg from the South, it's amazing once you get around the first corner, that you can see the tunnel exit a good 15 minutes at steady walking pace, before you actually get there. Spotted a yabby in the running waters about halfway along but thankfully while there was plenty of evidence of the warned-about bogans, none were in attendance today!
I'd been eyeing this one off for a long time. Today was the day to make the trek! We arrived at Otford station, deciding to try tackling the cache from the northern entrance. Following the track from the station, we arrived at a point where the track turns into a trail and there was a conveniently placed hole in the fence with a well used trail on the other side. Looks like more than a few other people come this way.We entered the questionable lands and made our way to the tunnel entrance.Wow, it is dark and long, with the mote of light from the entrance getting smaller and smaller as we went deeper. Eventually we came upon a discarded bathtub... how did this even get here? While looking at it, I was startled by a drop of cold water that went right down the back of my shirt! Turns out, we were right under the pale blue dot above us, but didn't notice it with our torchlight.Started out search and had the cache a few minutes later. All in good order, we made our way out the southern end. What a great cache! And to have survived so long! I'd give it multiple favourites if I could!
Came through here with my Scouts this evening. Can confirm that the cache is still in position. They enjoyed hunting for it.
I have been looking at this one for a while. We thought we could go down here after placing some stuff back In Sydney. I realised that where I wanted to start is wrong but we found the entrance on the map. Drove to the spot and walked down the trail and there was orange tape across the track with a notice about repairs. Further we went and I don’t see the reason to fix it. We reached the grand entrance and slowly went in the tunnel. We walked an walked through what was pitch black at times but we reached the hint item and after sniffing around a bit we found the cache, signed log and we were on our way out. Pretty easy for T4 but an absolutely spectacular cache spot!! Love the adventure! TFTC Fav from me!!
After completing Menai parkrun, I jumped into the GeoSuzi and made my way to this cache which has been on my radar for at least two years since it was brought to my attention.
I have to admit that if it wasn’t for some important input from my friend Meritonnn, I probably would never have figured out where to begin my search! A carefully ventured into the lead in area not knowing what I was going to see, but realised what to do, parked up, geared up and headed off. It actually wasn’t very long until I could hear some voices, and eventually came across the entrance, but gathered around it and gazing into it, was a group of young people, about 8 of them, seemingly not sure of what to do. As I approached, I quite obviously gave them a bit of a start, as I had a pack on, and was dressed in something resembling a NPWS outfit, so perhaps this put them off a bit. But nonetheless, I walked through the group, and paused momentarily saying, well, are you guys going in? This old bloke is! Then I headed off into the abyss! The tunnel turned somewhat, so vision from the outside was quickly lost, and you could well and truly hear the trickle of the ensuing stream making its way through. Apart from avoiding the voiceless frog, the path was pretty clear, and I could already see the other end, very far away. Not quite sure what I was looking for, I was scanning the walls etc as I was walking through. The silence with the water trickling was wonderful, and I was enjoying the solitude. I eventually came across one thing described in the cache note, and also mentioned in some of the logs, but was still wondering just what it was I was yet to come across. But just a few moments later I could make out something, and had a little chuckle to myself, well, this must be it! I began my search and suddenly saw what could only be described as obviously something that would have been in the cache, and thought to myself, oh no! It’s been muggled! It was at this point that I could hear voices and then torchlight in the distance, and realised that had better at least try before they get too close. Then, aha! Extracted, had a quick look and signed and replaced. Took a few photos and headed back towards the oncoming group so as not to draw attention to the structure. We exchanged greetings once again and after a few minutes called out to them and asked if they could point their lights toward me and I took the following shot.
Great fun and interesting cache that’s stood the test of time!

This was our main attraction planned for today and we were both excited and nervous as we approached the tunnel entrance. There was no gate.. appart from that which was laying on the ground in ruins. Each with a torch we slowly entered and slowly watched as the entrance disappeared into darkness. Boy was this cache everything we thought it would be and more. Where do I start.. The atmosphere was creepy yet cool and calming. From the ground to the walls there was so much to see, including multiple yabbies. At many points when we turned off our torches it was completely pitch black which is something you don't get to experience all that often. After walking for a while we began to see the light at the other end of the tunnel, a tiny dot that really didn't seem to get any closer despite walking quite a distance towards it.. then there was the ceiling vent.. wow impressive.. and then the structure on which the cache is hidden.. double wow. So eerie spotting that looming in the distance under torch light. Amazing it has remained down here all this time. It was fun searching the structure under torch light and it actually took our rather large group quite some time to spot it. After reading the last log and hearing the container was cracked, we brought along a replacement and successfully transferred to contents over to the new box. This will keep everything in good shape for many more years to come. After replacing the cache back into its hiding spot, we contemplated walking to the other end but then decided to save that for another day.. which was just as well because we spent equally as long inspecting the walls and ground on the way out as we did on the way in so I think we were probably in that tunnel for a good hour all up. It was actually sad to be back out of the tunnel.. so far removed from society ( and it seems from a down pour of rain that we had no idea was happening). This was most certainly a geocache we'll remember and definitely worthy of another fav point from us. Thanks for the great start to the new year!

Wow what can I write about this one? It’s been on a bucket list since I heard about this one an event in VIC, but as we don’t usually come up this way and so far from home, it’s only been in the list. On an epic road trip that diverted nearby for a quest. How could we not come here despite our time budget. The rain absolutely bucketed Down, and waited it out. Made a trek to the gz and and picked up some further info! Wow, what a spot! And off we went! And made it in no time. Again parked grabbed our gear, including a battery lantern, in essence of the trek into the tunnels but while not a mining tunnel, gave a feel! In we went and walked and walked. And walked avoiding pools of water, looking at the artworks on the wall. The walks seemed long, and the air a little musty more we went in. glad to see the moon! Then the hunt was on for the cache! Found it! Pitty we missed the last log otherwise we would of replaced. On the way back we saw a few young people on a trek through, doubt they were cachers. A quicker walk back and we loved being in the presence of such a 21 year old cache. I loved these adventures these caches give us! Thanks so much!
It was wonderful to catch up with 10011010 and AsTheCrowFlys' and make it an outing with SueDan83. I wanted to call our team "Dan's 154Ukes" but I was outvoted. The plan was to do "The Dark Side Of The Moon" and any ALs and caches nearby. The weather was gorgeous, the caches great and the company awesome... we talked nonstop... couldn't have planned a better day.
Well the whole day had been planned around this cache and it didn't disappoint! I felt like a giddy school kid finally experiencing my "The Famous Five" or "The Three Investigators" moment. We took the southern horizontal route and found any "barriers" easy to just walk around. Glad we had strong torches... the track in the tunnel is not difficult to walk on but there was enough rubble, water and uneven surfaces to need to keep your wits about you. The temperature was cool and pleasant in contrast to the heat outside... one of the reasons we picked today to do this cache. As we walked we critiqued the various artworks on the walls and were overall disappointed in the lack of imagination and bad spelling. GZ loomed up out of the dark and we used a methodical approach to find the cache. Dan stood back taking pictures and enjoying the search as a previous finder would. It is a regular size after all...so it couldn't be hidden in too many places and then there it was in the last place we looked The container has a crack in it... wish I had known and I would have brought a replacement. Definitely a favourite point from me... it was wonderful to do a fantastic 21 year old cache. Thanks

Apologies for the late log.
With today being my birthday, naturally I decided that a day of caching on the coast would be much more enjoyable than a day spent at work! Unfortunately geo mate SueDan83 had to pull out at the last minute, but Sensible Sis and I jumped in the Meritonnn geo-mobile and headed down to Helensburgh/Stanwell Tops. It was a cracking day, with some great walks, great views, great caches and great company!
And finally... The most anticipated cache of the day! One which I've wanted to do for ages but have been saving for a special occasion - my birthday seemed a good fit! After working out where the non T5 access point was, Sensible Sis and I parked the geo-mobile, checked our torches and began walking. We soon encountered a barrier... Hmmmm.... After a bit of evaluation and discussion we decided to continue around this and soon found ourselves at the entrance! As we began to make our way into the darkness, the first thing that struck me was the sound of silence - it was actually a bit unnerving! Soon however, the trickle of water inside the tunnel replaced this and we found ourselves navigating around a stream running within it. Such a different experience to be completely surrounded by the dark! But also so great to push one's self outside of your comfort zone! Sensible sis and I were glad for each other's company I think! After what felt like a very long time, we finally saw a glimmer of light, which turned out to be the vent (aka T5 access point) under which a bath has been placed which is catching rain water. Not sure I'd want to wash in it! And not much further along, and we knew we had reached GZ. Sensible sis and in circled the structure, disturbing a rat in the process. Finally after a few minutes, I heard sensible sis shout the magic words 'found it!'. That is very cleverly hidden! After doing the legals and taking a few pictures, we began the return journey. After awhile, we spotted what we thought was the light at the end of the tunnel. But then the light moved! And then disappeared! And reappeared! Sensible sis and I realised we were not alone in the tunnel.... So creepy as we waited to see who was in here with us! Thankfully just a young couple exploring the tunnel and not some serial killer
What an experience! Loved it! And how fantastic that it is stood the test of time, despite indications in the very early days that it might need to be archived. Here it is, over twenty years later with a stack of favourite points! Here - have another! TFTC Team Chaos!

I have been wanting to find this cache for a few years now. My last two attempts were unsuccessful as I had approached from above and couldn't locate the entrance to the tunnel. With an updated 'Map Layer Type', I was able to quickly identify the access point and a suitable parking spot.
I teamed up with a small group of close friends to explore the abandoned tunnel. We had a great time walking from end to end; examining the interesting artworks along the walls. Looking up the chimney stack was shocking - to read that some people have abseiled down into the tunnel is pretty impressive! When we got to the machinery, I quickly located the cache and completed signing duties on behalf of our group.
What a fantastic place for a geocache! Thank you to everyone involved in maintaining this old cache for so many years. I look forward to returning one day.
Favourite Point awarded for the impressive location and memorable experience here. TFTC

I had done some research on this cache and the area to make sure we were prepared for tackling this cache on our visit from QLD as it helps out with the Jasmer calendar. The head torches were packed, appropriate footwear was packed and I had sussed out the best parking location.
What I hadn’t anticipated was the 3 weeks of continual rain this area had received leading up to our trip, nor the torrential downpour that occurred about 30mins before our arrival.
It wasn’t raining when we pulled up to park, so we decided to head in, the path in was a small creek which we often had to straddle so our feet didn’t get wet. We made to 20m from the tunnel entrance but were stopped by the fast flowing river that coming out of the tunnel. The only way in to the tunnel would have been through the river but we decided against that today as who knows how bad it was in the tunnel in the dark and it turned out that our footwear was inadequate for the amount of mud and water!!!
So we disappointingly had to turn around and go back to the car.
I thought this cache would then have to be put on the back burner for another time but this morning at breakfast JDavs suggested we find some gumboots and give it another crack! We found a Bunnings en route, picked up some gumboots and headed back. This time the path in was much easier to navigate and the bit before the tunnel, while it was still flowing and muddy, did not resemble the torrential river we witnessed 2 days ago.
With gumboots on and head torches at the ready we headed into the tunnel. As we navigated the rough terrain of the tunnel we were pleased to have the gumboots as there was still plenty of water inside the tunnel and we often ended up ankle deep in the current.
As we walked, we could see a faint light, which we presumed to be the other side of the tunnel but it never seemed to get any closer and it felt liked we walked for ages. My GPS didn’t work inside the tunnel so I was relying on my previous research to know when I was in the right spot.
Once there, we knew and we spotted where to start looking. JDavs found the cache and we carefully extracted it. It was cool to see so many old logs in there and was very happy to add our name too. After a few photos it was time to make our way back.
It didn’t seem to take as long coming back and we came across only 1 other person about 50m from our exit. What a brilliant location for a cache and even better that it’s an oldie and still going. A great adventure was had, so this cache daily gets a FP and we now have an extra pair of gumboots each!!! Tftc and adventure Team Chaos

Happy New Year! Found on the first day of 2022 with a first time cacher. Bit freaky passing fellow tunnellers but they were friendly and discovering the comical art throughout was an added bonus. Bring torch or have phone fully charged!
Such a cool cache . Due to lockdown we are forced to try and get the close to home caches that were previously in the two hard basket. This was one of them.
We made sure we did our research and packed a torch each. Our shoes got a bit wet but the geokids were so excited loved every minute of it.
The GPS was of no use in the tunnel so our research came in handy as well as our experience and intuition.
Starting at SP we walked the full length of the tunnel had a quick break and then went back through to find GZ. Quickly found the right spot and soon had the CIH. Thanks for a great adventure, a FP from us.
Feels good to tick this off the list.

I had thoroughly researched this one before heading there as I usually don’t attempt terrain 4 caches. But this one was on the Jasmer grid for me and with 127 favourite points who could resist. I’d looked up the map like the previous loggers had said and found a portal so I parked at the end of chellow dene and walked in in. I first saw it and thought oh crap I’m not doing this alone, got to the reinforced cement and turned back outside to calm my nerves a bit. I thought about coming back another day with a friend but then I had driven an hour to get here. My practical, rational brain reasoned that I was more likely to be murdered on the streets of Sydney than in an abandoned tunnel. So in I went. To my horror I started to see flashlights and panicked a little before realising that yeah others might also come down here. Got to GZ and had a good look around before finding it in the last obvious spot. Definitely one of those caches that I find tricky even up on he surface! Ended up with blue dust all over me but not sure why. My recommendation to others is to try this alone! I was probably too on edge in the way in to read and look at the graffiti but definitely took the time on the way out. A FP from me of course. TFTC
Loved this one. Came prepared. Luckily the tunnel (appeared) deserted, and I was able to wander through and locate the object of interest. Hunted everywhere for the container, and found it eventually in a most obvious place. An obvious FP for this one. TFTC.
Find number 200 for the tribe.
The weather was miserable so what better thing to do than geocache in a disused railway tunnel for our 200th find?
A visit to a local hardware store saw the tribe pick up a number of head torches at the bargain price of $4.95 for each, which were absolutely necessary for the days adventures.
We brought geonanna along with the whole tribe today. Started from Otford station and made our way to the north end of the tunnel. The map type provided when you are a premium member showed us some useful trails which weren't on the standard maps.
Once undercover the torches were put to good use. There is a watercourse in the tunnel which makes a nice trickling noise but also makes things muddy at times, but nothing that the geokids couldn't negotiate with gumboots. There are some old wires, glass and some other relics in the tunnel to be aware of if you are taking geokids in.
A couple of muggles down in the tunnel today which was a bit creepy initially but they turned out to be friendly. Some were taking some wicked time lapse images with sparklers and a tripod which was cool.
The dark side of the moon was missed by geodad but located by geokid. Pretty cool spot. The cache was missed by everyone but finally found by geodad. Hint was useful. Container has seen better days but is still functional. Nice to read some retro logs. Swapped in a little book for the next geokid.
On the way out geowife managed to get a leech which we located a few hours later in her shoe.
All in all one of our best caches ever and the perfect one for a day like today. This is why we love geocaching. Takes you to places you would otherwise never go to!
Thanks for the hide Team Chaos, if you're still out there! Another favourite point coming your way.

Great cache. Had been past GZ mang years ago.Took a few minutes to find the cache a GZ. TFTC
TFTC. Great cache & adventure. OCW MF428, Cachespaghetti & Shaneoyo. Geodog Atlas was not with us today. Picked up the TB.
This was certainly a 'rewarding' DNF experience.
It started to rain as I parked on the bend of Otford Rd (S 34 13.145 E 150 59.895). Thinking I would make short work of this cache, I put on my jacket and gaiters and followed a feint trail down towards "GZ". The trail eventually became undefined and I began brutally bashing through overgrowth to get to a large chimney stack.
Once here I realised I was standing on top of the tunnel and there was no access point nearby. I left "GZ" using an old car track which brought me to a junction (S 34 13.285 E 150 59.855). I decided to explore the track heading down (West) but soon realised I was heading way too far for it to be leading to a tunnel entrance.
I marched my way back up the track, which eventually put me back at the main road junction (S 34 13.420 E 150 59.800). I removed my jacket and gaiters to find a five leech frenzy on my legs! After removing the suckers (literally), I made the 700m walk in the rain back to the car.
I'm looking forward to finding the tunnel entrance one day...
Thanks for the adventure

Finally we can put an end to this one. Initially we came here a few years ago and visited GZ. After realising we cannot access the cache from here we went home.
Tiday we were in the area again and we made a different approach after doing some extensive research on the location.
What a magnificent cache and really old one as well. I always like to grab these ones.
We left a TV after writing our name in the logbook.
FP awarded.

1018, mission accomplished. (Dan has been reading too many Jack Reacher novels).
We originally investigated the Posted Coords and were confused. Eventually we worked out what S.P. meant. Now, a nice walk, although a little haunting as Sue let me go on my own. Finally, I saw the "light at the end of the tunnel." A great location for a cache. TFTC

Ticked this one off of the list today. The weather was gloomy and cold too, perfect for caching.
Once we parked the car nearby Mrwhiskers76 and i made our way to the somewhat terrifying journey. After turning on the torches to the brightest level we trekked in all the way GZ, safe to say i didn't really enjoy the walk, as i have a very big phobia of basically everything that was involved in getting this cache... Once arriving at GZ we quickly signed the log and walked back pretty fast to the car. The whole round trip took 25 minutes as we walked fairly quickly, especially when walking briskly back to the car so I can get the heck outta there!

Down from the Central Coast today with team novo, Mighty Minions and BillHill531. After visiting a waypoint for another cache we're working on, we headed up to this one. I'd glanced at the cache page a few years back but didn't really know what to expect, but MM had been here before and so was our guide.
The tunnel was certainly the right place to be on this hot day. Most pleasant! Although the GPSr stopped being helpful as soon as we went underground, we had no trouble identifying GZ and after a few minutes of searching (with MM watching patiently from the side and dropping just one or two hints) we had the cache in hand and the log signed. We then headed back, returning out into the light and oppressive heat all too soon.
Great to see such an old cache still going strong! Many thanks for the hide.

Ah yes as Jeff said, there was a group of us from the north, down here in the gong area today. We were here primarily to sort out a WP for an epic teamwork cache we are working on. I'd also come down with a small list of caches to "clean up" after running out of time at last year's mega. To be honest, I would like a few more days to do even more (the old old story) - there's some great caching to be had down here! With the primary objective done, the crew asked where I was headed to today and I threw out the options which included hiking. Due to the hot day (high 30's and muggy today), DSOM was the overwhelming pick.
I had done some homework on this one in gaining a parking WP from a very handy mapping tool I often go to so I led the way with the chariots. Turns out minions had been here B4 anyway, sharing some stories of her journey out here last, but rightfully remaining coy about all aspects of the cache itself (thanks minions!)
The climate was a LOT cooler inside the tunnel as expected with the air quite clear until we got to GZ where the breeze changed directions which bought with it thicker air which our lights were struggling to penetrate.
It's funny the things that get left behind in places like this sometimes... oh and look, a cache! The novo boys and I have been watching "will in run" YT videos lately (which are apparently all the rage) where farmers get old abandoned plant equipment found deep in forests etc for sometimes 50+ years running again. I think they'd struggle with this one though lol.
Near GZ we noticed there was a light piercing the darkness coming from somewhere? Looked up and that's when we saw THE MOON... and the stark realisation that we were on THE DARK SIDE of it. Geocaching takes you to some great locations. Yet another one here! Cheers for the retro stash, Team Chaos. That was both interesting and lots of fun.

Found on a nice summer's day with The_Mighty Minions, BareFootJeff and Team Novo , with temperatures in the mid 40s. We all came down from Newcastle/Central Coast to get a mob together and find the next clue. Since the temprature was way up there we decide on this cooler cache, we had four torches between the four of us, thankfully it was a lot cooler in the tunnel, but once we passed the ventalation duct the air got a bit thinner and stuffy, good thing we didn't need to stay too long to make the find. Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache Team Chaos

Wow, what a place! We parked our van and took our headlamps with us as we headed in to this adventure. Once we found somehting that could be GZ we started searching for the cache itself. Not too long after that we spotted the cache, signed the log and took couple pictures for memories. Favo from me, tftc!
A walk in Kosciusko National Park was planned many months ago for the first week of January, before the now infamous fires were but a spark. As Christmas came and went, and the fires grew worse, I was not aware that fires were also starting in Kosi National Park. A day before we were to fly out the park was closed for a few days due to nearby fires, so with the chance of still going, we headed to Sydney. We waited and waited for the warnings to clear, but sadly this was not to be, and in fact, it has gotten much worse and the closures continued. We were not going to Kosi . While this was an inconvenience for us, our thoughts are with those who have suffered so much worse than us in this devastating event.
We decided to stay around Sydney and Newcastle for the week, and salvage as much as we could of our holiday. We had some great walks, cliff faces, beaches, swims and rocky crags. It was a fantastic time all around. Thanks to all the CO’s for the work they have put into these caches.
Hot, hot, hot. OMG it was HOT. Fires all around us restricting our options. Managed to get into this one, and so glad we did. This was my favourite cache of the trip. The feeling of cool air coming out of the tunnel was amazing. W head not read the cache information properly so walked the entire tunnel. oh well! we enjoyed it. Cache was found easy enough, as was a small lobster like thing in the waters. Great cache ty. FP from me.

Over the the past few years, the Bromance (comprising CrookedPete, Seffnjarah, SwellerFungus and most recently JezNDez) have enjoyed road trips, bushwalking, overnight hikes, mountain climbing, kayaking and other adventures in search of some elusive caches. The first planned adventure for the brand new decade was a multi day hike in Kosciusko National Park bagging Australia's highest dozen peaks and all nearby caches.
Enroute to our adventure, Australia's bush fire crisis unfolded, and with the Kosciusko region on fire and closed, our plans gradually morphed to a caching road trip back to Queensland, collecting unusual, rare and interesting caches along the way.
It was stinking hot - really unpleasant and a previous finder thought this cache would eb a good way to refresh. he was right. About 100 metres from the southern entrance, we started to notice the temperature dropping. By the time we reached the entrance the natural air conditioning was a pure joy!
Of course, we had not read the cache description well, and ended up walking right to the other end. Then some of the more obscure references in the cache description made sense. Yes - you need two lights to make this find!
Some logs were signed with individual names or initials if log space was an issue, others with "Bromance". Our groups brand new "Bromance" stamp also got used on some cache logs.
Thanks Team Chaos. Have a crooked favourite point. One of the highlight caches of our impromptu caching road trip

My family and I have travelled down from Brisbane to Vincentia to spend the Christmas period with relatives. My daughter had to fly back to Brisbane today so I was delegated to drive back up to Sydney to drop her off. At least this gave me the chance to visit a few more caches on the drive back.
I remember being told about this cache a few years ago by a fellow Brisbane cacher, and had only stumbled upon the cache listing during the planning for my trip. It was added to my itinerary for today and luckily I had plenty of time left for a visit.
Accessing via the southern end, the difference in temperature, on this extremely hot day, of the air outside and the air wafting out from the tunnel was extraordinary. It was almost like walking into a freezer the change was that significant.
With head torch ablaze, I cautiously made my way deeper into the tunnel over the uneven ground. Along the way I collected numerous discarded cans and bottles which I recycled later on at an Return and Earn center. Cache and cash!
I recognised GZ from some images I had perused earlier on, but it took me a little while before I found the container safely tucked away. Heading back out I could soon feel the temperature increase as I got closer to the exit and eventually emerged into the blistering heat of the afternoon. Time to head off in search of some sea breeze. Thanks for providing a cache at one of those out of the way places you would never otherwise know about.

Found this with TeamNormal as part of a “come back and get it” trip at some point after GeoMuster. The exploration part was great, and we had to make sure that we were equipped and ready, complete with flood and point lights (to film the tunnel). Finding and signing the cache was pretty routine, and we worked our way out not long after. Thanks for the cache!
A wonderful walk with the whole WooTownCrew today! Such a great tunnel, Thanks for the cache, it's a favourite for us!!!
First time doing this. This added an extra adventure for me and my kids to brighten up a regular walk

Found while up at the Gong event.
Heard about this one at the Appin Pub, while with friends. As some in the group had the trail head. We decided to go for it today.
Took us a little longer to get from the CITO to the trailhead and arriving at the area we noticed all our friends had headed off.
So we went in, in hope to catch up with them but didnt.
Never less they did give us a hint as to where the cache was situated.
Loved the walk in the tunnel. A true adventure.

Day 44
Here at the Oz Geomuster, Found your cache today. Team Chaos, thank you so much for placing it.
Well, as much as I enjoy my solo caching adventures as a way to disengage with the world, sometimes it indeed pays to have friends. After my two unsuccessful solo attempts the night before I was able to avoid my dreaded dnf thanks to the_tritonz and co. It’s a bittersweet moment, sweet for being able to claim the smilie, but a little bitter realising that I really shouldnt have had any issues with this last night, I shone my torch up, down and around everything, or so I thought. Even spent a while lying down shinning the dolphin around.
Ultimately, all is well that ends well, and this ended well. A FP for this one is definitely in order, taking your tally to a very worthy 100.
Found on my adventure to the 2019 OzGeoMuster in Wollongong. A few crazy long days of caching working my way through a huge number of towns en route from Geelong to Wollongong and back, a different route each way leading to different caches, different CO’s and different vista’s, all enjoyable. We targeted caches with a number of goals in mind. Jasmer months, D/T loops and LGA’s were high on the agenda, with priority also given to virtuals, large caches and whereigo’s.
Thanks to Team Chaos for placing this Regular Traditional cache for us to find. This is find 1354 for BFMC.

I had heard about this one the day before so after that it was high on the agenda, after we had done our bit at the CITO event, a group of us headed to one end of the tunnel.
We all grabbed our light sources and headed off along the trail to find the entrance.
We headed into the darkness and made our way to where the cache was hidden, once there the search began and a little time was spent before the cache was found.
After the log was signed we all headed to the other end to see what we could see.
This is a great adventure and well worth the walk.

With Kotuku_SI to help her finish a Lab series. Heard a lot about this one so decided to change plans and go get. Tunnel not as flat as Snoqualmie but hey the terrain proved that. Needed another set of eyes to locate. Was on the very place we didn't look. Anyway signed log and walked a little quicker out.
Found with a bunch of mates while in the area for the MEGA.
I had not heard of this cache until I was having a conversation with another cacher on a day apart from my usual caching buddy. At which point I was given a waypoint for best access.
I didnt think we'd end up there as it was far enough away from the mega site.
A chance discussion at dinner meant that I was in possession of some critical information. So a plan was formulated to launch a group assault the following day after the CITO.
FUF009 and I ended up being late after diverting for a puzzle cache so we parked up and walked in together.
Concentrating on catching up with the group, we walked by the cache and ended up finding it on the way back.
Not a huge fan of the dark and having sensory overload from an especially loud talker (booming off the walls), once the cache was signed I made my way out ahead of the group.
Definitely worth doing and much easier to navigate the return journey once you get a feel for the layout.
A favorite point for you. Dragging me way out of my comfort zone.

This was another one that we had been advised to do and are so very pleased we did. There were two cars only by this time as some of our crew had had to go home. Our car arrived first and we worked out the best place to park. We let the others know and they said that they probably wouldn't make it so go ahead.
We progressed into this one with one persons phobia being brought to the fore. We arrived at GZ to find two cachers that said they had been here for some time (sorry ladies, I don't remember your names and our notes were lost). We looked for a short time and then the reasonably sized cache was sighted. The other cachers were more than happy for us to have found it.
As we were leaving, I found a small crustacean swimming in the channel.
Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to go through to the other end and have a look around as we had been told it was well worth it. Next time.
This is a great cache and epitomises why we love this hobby. Thanks for placing this here and bringing it to our attention.

Another fantastic cache that was brought to our attention whilst we were here. We didn't have the opportunity to walk all the way through but we would definitely love to come back here again when we have a little more time. It was a lovely drive to get here and we would love to look around the area more as well. This is a cache that definitely deserves a favourite from me. Thanks so much for showing this to us. This is what caching is about.
What an adventure this cache was. After the CITO event, Snickersallan, Bluewattle and I started the Adventure Lab Tour the Gong and visited all the locations until we reached the last one at Ball Head Lookout. Snickersallan and Bluewattle were returning to Sydney tonight and now didn't have time to find this one. Beardman75 came over to ask if anyone was interested in looking for this cache. I was up for it (I was returning to Qld the next day).
He had already tried to get to the cache from the southern end of the trail near this lookout and only got to the shaft. We decided to try from the top end. Drove up the road but found no easy way down to the cache. As his family were getting tired, he decided to call it a day and go back to his accommodation.
I tried looking for the entry via the trail and only got to the shaft as well. PAF for more info on accessing this cache and found there was another entry point. (the description on the page made no sense to me who is not local!!)
Parked up near walk-in to suss out the entry, trying to decide if I was going to go in or not. Bit the bullet and started my walk in. Time now 5.30pm and getting dark. Finally arrived at the entry and with torch and phone light made my way in. Not sure what I was looking for, I navigated the tunnel and trying to stick to the dry parts, I finally found what I needed. Now to search and find the cache. Saw a sticker but discounted it and spent the next 10mins looking until I looked from another angle and saw the cache. On pulling it out, realised the sticker was from the front of the cache... D'UH!!! Signed logbook and returned as found. (I wacked my head on a small bar sticking out on the top of the piece of machinery and now have a bruise on the bridge of my nose.)
Now to make my way back out. With the sound of running water, I counted my steps back to the entry (about 1200 give or take a few) and back to the car at 6.15pm. What an epic cache location...
I missed the talk on Cacheteur by KittyKatch back at MEGA but happy to be able to get a smilie on this cache.
A favourite point from me for the adventure.

We had heard about this old cache during The Gong Mega. It came highly recommended.
Once a suitable parking spot was located, we ventured in. As we neared gz, we found a couple of other cachers who had been there looking for quite some time.
It was Papi4506 who spotted the nice-sized cache.
Once we’d all put our mark in the logbook, we ventured out again.
I must admit, I am getting better and better at facing my fears.
Thanks for maintaining this cache, Team Chaos

There had been quite a bit of talk about this cache, so I added it to my must do list while here at the mega. After this mornings CITO a group of us headed up here. We found the entrance to the tunnel and made our way towards the cache. There was a bit of searching before the it was found we then continued on to the other end of the tunnel. Definitely an interesting place to come to and an enjoyable walk.

Well what can we say - a fabulous experience and one of the highlights of our OZGM Mega adventure. After finding the cache with our small group of geobuddies, we kept walking to explore the whole tunnel and the very pretty little secluded area out the other side. TFTC Team Chaos. A definite fave point from us.
The journey to the mega resulted in a lot of driving, with a few select cache finds, due to the distance I had to travel. If only there was time to find them all! Once at “The Gong” as there are so many caches, yet again, sadly, only some could be attempted. This one was on the must do list. A great, interesting cache placement. Thanks for placing the cache Team Chaos
Every good mega has to have a group adventure about which stories will be told for many years to come. And so it was that a plan to tackle the dark side was hatched. After duly presenting for the flash mob we all convoyed up to tackle our demons. Strength in numbers was certainly the case here making this awesome cache possible for all, including those with pathetic torches (must go out and buy a better one). A couple of wet feet, that's what happens when you have a pathetic torch but other than that a highly successful mission and good time had. Such an interesting walk too. Needless to say a fav point awarded. Tftc
This cache has been on the mouths of many geocachers at the OZGeomuster wetting our appetite not only for an adventure but the chance of finding an old cache. So a trip here after the morning CITO was planned with many teams.
Parking the cars a safe distance away we walked towards the Dark Moon to enjoy the experience of walking through the tunnel in search of the cache in great company. Once the signing duties were over a trip to the other end was added to the fun experience of exploring this old tunnel.
Thanks Team Chaos for the interesting placement.

Found the chimney. Couldn’t find the tunnel entrance. Not sure where I went wrong
Found with Dora the Explorer! And quite a few others. It is great to see that some of the older caches are active. I have given it a favourite point.
As a Pink Floyd fan I had to do this, awesome. Done with Mighty Minions, Aussieben, Kingfisher.au, Beary_Unicorns, Unicorn Princess, King Ra. fave point, TFTC
Wow what a top location for a cache and a great location amazing what you find in some of the areas around tftc
It's MEGA weekend, this time up in The 'Gong.
I joined the usual suspects, Aquilus1, dty73 and Tankengine for a few days of merriment, labs, geoart and a few select oldies and cool D/T. I was unfortunately a little late to the party only arriving after lunchtime on Saturday, but everyone was so happy to see me and had had an absolute ball doing the lab caches and the jamboree power trail...I was kind of sad to be interrupting their fun.
Anyway.... so many labs, so much geoart and so little time... but we made very good time on Saturday afternoon, being joined for a few hours by Loci612 in the every so roomy car.
Fantastic dinner and then back to the trivia for fun times... with DIP & CHEESE! At the end of the night my big beautiful cosy bed was waiting for me untouched!
The Sunday morning was targeted oldies and goodies, then the completion of the geoart.... had to have that one saved for posterity on my map. I couldnt resist cleaning up the rest of the regulars on the Jamboree trail before a last minute night-cache-in-the-day with jm383.
It all had to come to an end so I started the long-enough-to-be-boring drive back to Canberra.
Thanks to all the organisers and CO's... I had a ball
I love these old caches in these cool places!

Found today with a great group of cachers, in fact there was a pretty steady stream of people here today. I'm over from New Zealand visiting for the Wollongong Mega and its great to see some of the best local caches. Thanks for the great experience!
I’d only heard good things about this cache since arriving at the Mega so I figured we come and check it out today. Cassie and I walked deep into the tunnel and if it weren’t for the lights coming back we would have gone all the way to the other end. We were enjoying the walk so much we went straight past the machinery after stopping to take a couple of photos.
It’s amazing how long this tunnel is! Just goes on and on forever and it’s really hard to gauge the distance in front of you. The little dot in the top left of the tunnel photo is actually the far end (after we past the machinery).
Great location for a cache and certainly glad I checked it out. FP for sure!

Was in the area for the OZgeomuster19 with GreyHams, dty73, and Tankengine, although GreyHams was only able to join us for some of the weekend. Not a lot of time but still managed a good amount with the Adventure Labs, Geoart, some oldies, lots of good sized containers, and some good DT caches as well.
Nice area to visit and some great targeted caches along the way, of course being a mega weekend it was heaving with geocaches and we met many along the way at caches, many times stopping at caches with many cars and caches at a time.
Canberra had a mass group attending and was always good to bump into many along the way, as well as back on site. Loci612 joined us for a large amount of the geoart and lots of fun times by all. Always good to have the backing of our friendly community!
Thanks to all the CO's for your caches, unless noted otherwise all was found easily and in good condition. This was the highlight cache of the weekend for me, an oldie, a cool GZ and a great walk to find it. Lots of water along the way and criss - crossing needed but added to the fun and feet stayed dry too! We found two caches so the little mint tin has been put in with the original cache container, its cracked and needs replacing but hanging in there.

One of our target caches for my visit to Wollongong. A great find by phone light because I forgot to pack a torch - I also forgot to pack pens, so maybe I'm just not good at this! Lots of people heading in as we headed out. TFTC - added another favourite.
A fairly low key day today with just a couple of caches and an event. However this was the top of the list to get done. Great tunnel walk.
This was without a doubt the best geocache I've ever been to. Nokimester and I had great time walking through the tunnel. Bumped into a couple of people we knew, but no one to murder us. TFTC!!!
A couple of months ago, back in Canberra, plans were made for a group assault on this cache. With Commando04 & I only doing a daytrip to the mega, Sunday was the day for us. After the lighthouse flash mob about 15 of us made our way to the small parking area.
This is the cache closest to one in the the Law and Order SVU episode that introduced me to caching. Fortunately, no dead bodies were found today. ?? Instead, I have added a very memorable smiley to my collection.
Thanks for maintaining this terrific and historic cache.

This was the highlight of the weekend. It took us a long time to find the way in. Initially we tried to get to the listed coordinates, thinking it was an entrance, but now realise that we were barking up the wrong tree. Eventually one of the old logs referrng to Chellow Dene which got us to the correct parking coordinates. That and working out what SP meant.
Eventually we headed in with only our phone torches and met some other cachers coming out. It sure was a busy weekend for this cache. We walked all the way through to the end even after finiding the cache to get the full effect.
Thanks for keeping this one alive.

Post Signal event MarcusVitrivius, Frisky Puppet and GearGuru and I came down to have a look at this one. Checked the GPS and started the walk in. After a bit we all remarked that it seemed to be a lot further than the distance the GPS had indicated at the beginning, but we carried on in good faith, chatting and laughing. Once we emerged from the tunnel and had a look around we all checked the GPS again and realized that we were now over a K away and that the arrow was pointed back to the tunnel! Lesson learned, read the description thoroughly....
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
I have been wanting to do this cache for a long time but didn't want to do it on my own, So while the mega was on I joined a great group of friends to do it together and had a lot of fun doing it. Especially when one member jumped out and scared another member of the group ha ha all in good fun. Thanks for the cache Team Chaos tnln replaced as found sl. def fav point for the fun and adventure
My mum (GLISS!) had made plans with a group of Canberra cachers to hit up this oldie after the flashmob. The locals must be wondering why their dead end street has been so popular this weekend. It was great fun exploring the tunnel. I really enjoyed this one. TFTC.
Up from Canberra to attend the Mega at The Gong! Had a blast over the 4 days which focused on socialising, the events, grabbing all of the lab caches and a few others along the way!
After attending the Flash Mob at the lighthouse, I teamed up with GLISS! and son to make our way to this one along with several other Canberra/Goulburn cachers. With flashlights on, we made our way down the dark tunnel, weaving our way around the running water and uneven sections. We marveled at the vent and then shortly after, we had cache in hand for the signing! This one was fun!
Thanks for the hide, Team Chaos Great to nab this old one! Giving this one a fave

I was invited to join a couple of new caching friends to check out this tunnel and I'm glad I agreed to go along. What a cool little adventure, making our way to the tunnels, exploring as we went through. It had a cool airy vibe disrupted every now and then by another geocacher coming through. A good memory from my time in Wollongong for the Mega. Tftc.
Amazing. Soaked up the scary with froggy cache and our new kiwi geofriends! Thankful to enter the tunnel with a wonderful bunch of Canberra cachers. What an experience! Thank you so much for this one!
18,411. Next find during the OzGeomuster 2019 The Gong.
There are caches you do and never think about again. THEN there are caches like this one that you will never forget ! This one goes straight into my Top 10 of all time. A good sized group of people gathered at the car park and we did the walk in to the entrance. Then the fun started. It was a bit rough under foot plus quite wet. It also seemed to go on forever but finally we get to GZ and the cache was quickly located. Phew ! Signing honours completed we explored a bit then headed back...
Wow - amazing cache.
TFTC Team Chaos !!

There have been plenty of my Canberra brethren talking about this cache with several planning to visit after the flash mob at the lighthouse. Anamastasia and I dropped our geokids at home before heading off to meet up near the entrance with about a dozen others, including our two new NZ friends, jessdaphne and injeanious.
A great experience. Make sure to turn your torches off in the middle, and look up at the ventilation shaft

A weekend adventure up at the Gong with FFLL#1 was planned and put into action. We had already done the scout series, and we had collected the lighthouse series a few weekends prior to the event. This meant we had more time to dedicate to the Adventure Labs, Older caches and some more unique caches. Was a great weekend away and always alot of fun with FFLL.
Day 2 of the weekend event and it was time to collect a couple nearby our accommodation before making our way over to the Flash Mob event. This was a planned cache for a number of people due to its uniqueness and its age. We had organised to meet a few people after the Flash Mob to do a group assult. I think we had about a dozen people wandering the tunnel, skipping across the rocks and water puddles. The tunnel was a cool experience, and it just felt like it went on forever, that little circle of light at the end, didn't feel like it got any closer haha. Once at the GZ, some photos were taken, cache quickly located by FFLL and the signing marathon begun. Once all had signed, cache was replaced and we begun to make our way back to the cars. Adding a Fav to this one for the experience.
Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance Team Chaos

Like many other Cachers - Aquilus1, Tankengine, GreyHams and I were up for the GeoMuster, but we could only stay for just Saturday and Sunday to be able to return home for work on Monday.
I got up and enjoyed our last morning on the beach by taking a walk down the beach at Bulli and watching the sunrise. Then headed back fro breakfast with the rest of the gang. Then it was time to pack up, check out and go caching!
We did one close to the cabin before coming here. This was a big one on all our lists to do. We all had our reasons from avenging a DNF to just being able to claim the year and D/T. For me it was all about the adventure in the tunnel. I LOVE tunnels.
We parked at the spot we were told and walked the 300m to the tunnel entrance, already I was inspired by the artwork and wreaked cage door. Then we took the plunge into darkness 700m until we arrive at the very interesting machine. We passed the tub that we assume was dropped from the ventilation shaft above (before the bars were installed we assumed). The ground was wet in areas, but not enough to be an issue.
I found the ground fascinating with the layers of history and a glimpse of the past. This was a definite highlight of the whole weekend and I'm very glad we came here. Tftc Team Chaos!!!

Day 2 - Last day at the Gong with Rapidlywild for the Oz Geomuster 2019. Picked up a few caches before the Flash Mob and then a few after including a couple of old ones before heading back to chilly Canberra.
After the flash mob we had arranged for group to try this one. This cache did not disappoint, quite enjoyable. Gets a favourite point from us.
Thanks for keeping this one alive Team Chaos and thanks Rapidlywild for another enjoyable weekend away.

Day two of the OZGM19 Mega saw fitzy_1965, Alibida33, GSC2000 and myself heading down into Wollongong for the day. Our aim was the flashmob, Dark Side of the Moon and the the coffee & caches trail that the Mega Committee made.
This was the next for the day and by far the one I didn't like the most. Being in that tunnel was a huge effort for me. Definitely a LOT longer walk that first thought. I can now say I've done it but will certainly not ever be going back! Favorite point given for the D/T and Jasmer date I collected.

Did this little cache after the Flashmob event with Gear Guru, Son of atom & MV we managed to not read the description correctly and somehow managed to wander straight past the cache and keep going over an extra 1klm out the other side. never mind it was still a wonderful experience and a lot of fun, so all good. Day two of my Geomuster Mega weekend. After breakfast Quiz and Reviewer Talk, caught up with friends and headed out to get to the lighthouse for the Flashmob. We then went for caches on the way. Went with dghoffy to find the physical logs and signed as TTT (Trans Tasmin Team).
Unfortunately we did so many in the one day I haven’t done individual logs for all of the caches but know they were all in good condition. Thank you for putting these out, made for a fun day.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
20 years of geocaching worldwide.
20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of this event - you won't want to miss it!

Oz Geomuster 2019 Wollongong at Cataract Scout Park. The third day was spent with Fitzy and MinnieK around Wollongong to attend some 4events and do the Wollongong LAB caches and Coffee adventure to get the pathtag. We also did a few highlight caches along the way.
This was an unexpected bonus for this trip. I was with a group who at least had the trail head co-ords so we bypassed the visit to the top. Then it was a short walk to the tunnel and then on into the darkness. I really enjoyed it, but it was not everyone's cup of tea. Plenty of water and it was amazing to see the engineering that was put in place, even if it has been overwhelmed now. I am shocked the public can enter, but love that you can. With plenty of us looking the cache stood no chance and soon the logbook was being handed around for signing. The return went smoothly and we were off to find other caches.
Thanks.

With plenty of us looking the cache stood no chance and soon the logbook was being handed around for signing. The return went smoothly and we were off to find other caches.
Thanks.
