Wow, what a view from up here! We were lucky as the cloud cover was closing in so we got to see the view before it disappeared. I couldnt quite get to the top of the trig as there were already 6 people up there and there was no room but I was only a few steps away
What a magnificent spot. It was windy for sure but not to cold..12 degrees Really enjoyed our visit. Thanks from a couple of kiwis caching in Tasmania
Well with the wind blowing at a horrendous rate I never spent long here. Pity the photo doesn't have volume with it. There was still a view but jeez. I was hanging on for dear life for this photo. Thanks for your virtual cache.
Not much of a view today (were above the clouds!) but cool and crisp and pretty quiet tourist wise. Tftc and a lovely scene.
Been up here once before, 10+ years ago, but didnt log the virtual then for whatever reason. Today we scrambled around and up to stand beneath the trig marker, and take in the lack of a view given the clouds. It was quite breezy, chilly and foggy at the top, but worth the visit anyway, as its a very cool landscape. Thanks Rastas000 for the virtual . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
What an amazing place. The views are awesome. It snowed, sleeted and rained and then the sun came out. But soooo cold. Great to get this oldie.Tasmania trip 2024 with Kittykatch. Day 3 though we arrived late on day 1. Working to get all states and Territories in a year and counties. First visit to Tassie so excited to experience everything. Thanks for getting me out and about Rastas000
TasmaniaJoolay and I have travelled to Tasmania on a caching holiday. We are hoping to see as much as we can in four days and find a bunch of caches. Wow the views from Mt Wellington are spectacular! It was so cold with snow blowing sideways. I thought I was going to get blown off the trig ! Photo attached as requested. Thanks for the cool hide Rastas000
The temperature was sure different up here compared to down in town... Had to be below freezing! Worth the view though!
After my note from yesterday, the CO was kind enough to message me this morning to give me permission to submit my log as a find. Very stoked to be able to do this! Thank you so much, Rastas000! My kids who were with me were still talking today about their wild experience up there. Likely to be a core memory for them for rest of their lives! For that reason a favourite point has been awarded. Have added a screenshot pic of the video I took just outside of the bus. Of course we didnt make it to the observation hut.
Unfortunately I wasnt really able to get to the exact coordinates as a requirement of the log. But oh boy, do I have a story to tell. I just happen to be there on a VERY windy day and the bus driver said its blowing at 105km/h. I struggled to walk in the wind, I kept getting pushed back by the wind. I only had half an hour up at the summit before I had to be back on the bus. I took a selfie of the closest I could get to the exact coordinates and then a minute later my glasses and beanie blew off me! I was able to retrieve my beanie but unfortunately my glasses has simply disappeared. Even my handbag almost blew off too, I kid you not. The bus driver tried to help me find my glasses in the bushes but no luck. Fortunately I brought a spare pair which was in the motel room back in the city, so I had to endure a bus ride back with bit of a blurry vision. I wouldve loved to do the Adventure Lab and bonus as well but with that kind of gale force wind it wasnt possible. It was actually very scary, some others on the bus took one step out of the bus and went NOPE not today. There was no way I was going to attempt to scramble up the rocks, it wouldve been too unsafe.Today was the only day I could do this trip, I flew in from Melbourne for the footy match tomorrow Kangaroos vs Cats (p.s. Go Catters!) then flying back home Sunday early morning. So Im super disappointed that my time up at the summit didnt go as planned.Hopefully I will come back to Hobart another time later in the year when the weathers nicer and Ill drive up and have a nice time exploring and caching. So heres the photo of me with my glasses moments before it went flying off. RIP.
Beautiful morning to explore Mount Wellington with HawkEyeEagleEye and Kachenator. TTTVC
28 June 2024 11:30What an awesome place this is. Even in June the place had visitors, and so many were vying for a position at the Trig; not all of them cachers.Thank you Rastas000 for placing this Virtual here so many years ago.Goes without saying, but a favourite point given.
Loved my time up here at Mt Wellington, even tho it was 2.5 degrees with the BOM stating it felt like -6.2.A fav point from me
Sorry, I am a bit sideways and struggling in the weather. A very cold winter day. Nevertheless we enjoyed our time on the mountain.
This is the fifth day of my first trip to Tasmania. I was brought down here for a 2-day intensive business retreat. Which was huge, but all finished now. And of course, I have an extra couple of days to go geocaching after. I have all of today to myself with the hire car. And so today is dedicated to heading up this Mount Wellington that literally everyone I spoke to says is a must-do. Hard to argue with that! After a non-early start and a breakfast stroll through Salamanca, I throw some extra clothes in the car and I'm on the road, heading west and up [and stopping a few times](https://www.geocaching.com/live/log/GL1CH1AR5).When planning this trip, this icon in the list was a reasonably high priority. Properly old virtual are a gift few and far between. By the time I got to the top, a few things were apparent. Namely the temperature. Bang on 10 degrees cooler than Hobart down below. And while I am very glad that I packed two jumpers, including one windproof against the brisk breeze up here, the choice of shorts leaves much to be desired. And also how far this is from what I expected. The fancy lookout mountain back home is Mount Coot-tha; covered in typical bushland and a few dozen metres high. But this is a long, windy vastly enjoyable drive. Towering over the small city below and a climate and ecosystem that feels closer to the alpine Snowies! I get the immediate sense that I could wear out a *lot* of hiking boot rubber given the chance. But this is about familiarity of the area, not mastery of every trail! And at the moment the weather is really indecisive. The brisk wind carries clouds up and over so the sun and sky make appearances only half the time. After checking out the western platform views, I make my way to the tippy top summit where this trigpoint is. It's a bit popular; a few families climbing around. I join in (while avoiding folks as much as possible).Right under the frame is a very special place to hang out. I stayed a while, looking in every direction (and of course grabbing the required selfie at 13:00) and feeling grateful for being in such a wonderful place. Eventually, my fingers began to freeze and I headed down and out. But after a short hike later on (yep, I eventually folded to temptation) I returned. The weather had cleared and the views were uninterrupted. Simply spectacular! A highlight of a wonderful trip; thanks for this golden oldie, Rastas000
We are here on a 2 week holiday and arrived on the Spirit of Tasmania. So far the weather has been glorious and today up on the mount was perfect, no fog, rain or wind. The views are spectacular, thanks for bringing me here and a fav point.
Lucky Im from Victoria or the 2.4 degree weather may have put me off haha. What an absolutely stunning view! And with the sun going down it was even more memorable! Thank you so much for this virtual and the prompt to come this way! FP added
Didn't anticipate how cold it would get at the summit! Beautiful views, thanks for the cache
Holy CRAP it was cold on the summit today!! The wind blowing the cold rain sideways made for a most memorable experience, hah! Some of the tourist buses riders opted to stay on the bus. Unfortunately the rain clouds obscured much of our view, but I was thrilled to be here nonetheless. It was SO cold, I could only do two of the nearby Adventure Lab stages. But I wasnt leaving without climbing the final altitude of this cache. Thank you for the smiley, required photo attached to this log. Fave point indeed!
Arrived via the tourist bus and grabbed this one and the nearby Trad cache, very cold but clear and not too windy.
TFTC. It was a very cloudy drive on the way up but luckily the cloud lifted a few times for us to enjoy the fabulous views
A long drive. Cold at the top and not a lot of view today. But still awesome! TFTC!#1062
Great little spot on a sunny day. Kind of disappointing a little cloud, blue, and while we were here. Thanks for the fun!
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Day 34/74, Saturday. My mini-holiday to Tasmania! Just four days but better than nothing. Today I woke up at my accommodation in Port Arthur and then I spent the day driving and walking here and there. For the night I drove to Hobart. I visited places I will remember forever - such as the Remarkable Cave in the Tasman National Park and Mount Wellington area. I also visited some caches that were important for me because of some challenge caches, etc. I had so much fun today! Lovely, lovely place! It was a long way up - and narrow - when there were cars coming downhill all the time. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! #2788 This is my day 264, and the longest physical cache find streak so far. I want to see how far I go. I am on a family vacation in Australia, and Tasmania road trip is our main highlight. The trip on the island is coming to the end. Today, we visited Mount Wellington before heading to the airport.Very windy today. Thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan @ February 23, 2024 11:46:30
Im having a couple of weeks off and Im spending the first few days down in the South of Tassie to find 8 different types, 25 of one type and also any LGAs that I come across to help fulfil a few of the challenges that Im working on.Also Im trying to keep my small streak going to beat my last streak of 67 days. The last time I was up here there was snow and back then the kids had a ball playing in it.Today is a different story as Im in shorts and a shirt and the cloud has lifted and there is a magnificent view.Plenty of parking and there was a reasonable crowd up here and a couple of tourist buses as well.Scrambled up to the trig point and waited my turn to take a few picks.A fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks Rastas000 TFTVC
Got this one yesterday with R5 but the wings and the cold saw my hands in my pockets to keep warm. Amazing luck with clear skys and great views.
Im here! Its windy! Just arrived in Tas like 4 hours ago, first stop was Supreme Court of Tasmania (for reasons), then straight here. Great views!
Amazing!Unfortunately clouded over just as we got there.Full log to follow and greetings from Melbourne
Walked up from Fern Tree, loving the paths and walkways, but omg the crowds at the top on a holiday period, and the lines of cars waiting down the road to find a park!
On top of the mountain! Finishing our pancake honeymoon around Tazzie, we finally stop in Mt Welllington.
Thanks to this cache, I visited some very nice spots and beautiful places in Tassie and I enjoyed another perfect day on my holidays in Australia. No view, too foggy.

Pretty walk to the top with awesome views along the way and at the top of the mountain on a clear day. Temperatures were not too bad either. Quick photo at the summit. TFTC
It was a lovely, fun filled week with good friends as we explored Tassie and its many delightful treasures. Definitely a holiday, but a holiday with that type of friend that steps up when needed, so they were very supportive of my need to detour or disappear occasionally for a cache. 'Are you loitering again?' as they called it... my loitering at trees, bushes, walls, signs, bridges, statues... well, you know!It was great to visit Mt Wellington today! I've tried once before but overnight snow closed the road, although the snow was cool to see! Today with my great friends and the sun shining I drove up. It was amazing to see the changes of the mountain, I'm not sure what I thought, but that wasn't it... it was so much better! We climbed up to the trig and it was a popular thing to do. Spectacular views and great to finally visit here.
Not sure how I didnt log this one back when I was here 4.5 months ago however talking to a recent finder I rechecked my map and noticed the icon still showing so here is my photo and have a FP for this epic location. I didnt really dress appropriately for the very cool breeze up here.
What a fantastic view! Had to be a quick one because of the wind and the cold Thanks for showing! Ralli71
Wow... she's cold up here. Thrilled to be able to tick this one off the list. Pic taken by friendly muggles. FP added. Tftc
Goldy and Jimmy are holidaying in Tasmania for a few days. A quick trip away from our regular life to see sights and find caches.I'm aiming to continue my daily streak and fill some Jasmer grid spots. As well as find some challenge caches and as many virtuals as I can. This was our first full day in Tassie and we went to see Mount Wellington and The Great Lake before heading to Launceston. We managed to snag a FTF just off the Tasman Highway at Targa and find some golden oldies in Launceston. We took two photos, with both Jimmy and myself in them with the trig point. Very stunning views. We spent a fair amount of time up here.A favourite point for you! Thanks Rastas000 for this virtual cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3766 on the 10th of November 2023.CITO's are a brilliant way to help keep our community area's clean. The Earth is our playing field and we need to protect it! Always be sure to cache the "leave no trace" way!**South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!**
Found on a trip to Tasmania with pineapplegoldy! Some caches have been signed as "Goldy and Jimmy". Goldy has sent answers and uploaded photos where applicable. TFTC
It was a gorgeous day in Hobart, so we see the opportunity to get up Mount Wellington. If you was, as always, spectacular.
Out with geotrakka for an Australian tour. Awesome virtual cache! Thanks Rastas000 for the new smiley!
What a great place for a virtual. Over in Tasmania for a whirlwind 4 states & 3 concerts in 8 days.Fav point addedMany thanks Rastas000 for placing this virtual for me to find and adding to my adventures. This will be my 6861 find.
Such a fantastic view and spectacular weather today! Thanks for this virtual and another reason to come up here for a visit.
A stunning location with the most AWESOME views Fav point from me. Day 4 of our Tassie/Sydney trip, and today we did the Salamanca market, Mt Wellington and the botanical gardens. I only got tooted at once while driving I loved the market & made a couple of purchases to take home. Mt Wellington was a spur of the moment decision on my part. It had been raining on & off heavily all day & a break in the weather & clear view up, I made the call to go. We got 10mins up there before the bad weather rolled in & it started snowing. Knowing the road up was planned to be shut because of snow from 4pm, we got out of there quick when the snow arrived. We finished the day doing an Ad lab around the botanic gardens, which is another beautiful spot in the city TFTVC
Absolutely amazing views! Extremely windy today, made a few people laugh (+ inspired some others to make the climb) going up in a dress . Very exhilarating! A wonderful virtual, TFTC!
Found on our Trip to Tasmania. What a beautiful spot here.About 20 people on the trig at all times in the 2 hours we were here! Thanks for placing the cache for us to find today.

The road was open so we made the trip to see the views, lady time we were on holiday here it had been closed, at the top it was freezing and extremely windy but we couldn't go without adding a smile the youngest team was brave enough stand at the Trig point in this wind the cloud was coming in but at least we got to see the views this trip TFTC and the fun
It was time for a return trip to Tassie to explore the southern part of the state. I paired up with OzHockeyChick for a 5 day caching blitz with some sightseeing in between. Today was Day 2 and we were exploring around Hobart, Bruny Island, Mount Wellington and surrounds.
It had already begun snowing on top of Mt WeLlington and the winds were arctic. I could barely feel my fingers to take this happy snap.
Thanks Rastas000 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Very very chilly up on the mountain as the snow began to fall upon us.

We needed to find a virtual for this months challenge, so today we went to our closest unfound virtual to home to turn it into a smiley. It was very cold and windy at GZ but that didn’t seem to bother the muggles, as there were quite a few of them around. The required photo was taken and we went back to the car.
Thanks for the cache Rastas000!

Making our way around Tassie on a family holiday. A visit to My Wellington is considered mandatory in our family!
It was dead set below freezing with the wind blowing but not enough to make snow. We enjoyed every minute!
