Day #5 Leaping Forward AdventuresIts the final day on Kangaroo Island so posums and I are slowly making our way back to the afternoon ferry before traveling in to Adelaide. After a heads up from Ahomburg I quickly dashed back to grab this old one. Thanks Team Piggy for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? Why not check out the geocaching lists available on the [Geocaching Victoria Website](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/). There are plenty to choose from including all of the previous nominees and winners of the Victorian Cache of the Year Awards.
Found on a trip down south after attending the Picnic in Willunga event. The main aim was to tackle the Fleurieu Beach series near Delamere but I used the opportunity to find caches along the way and on the return back home. Very nice to have found one of SA's early caches that I hadn't got to yet. Thanks for the cache Team Piggy!
I'm making my way down the Fleurieu Peninsula to host the Rapid Bay CITO today.I am making a day of it, squeezing in as many caches as I can before CITO time.I'm aiming to go up a level on my "360 from home" badge on project-gc as well, as there's a lot of red areas down this way for me.I also enjoyed going to the Yankalilla Bakery, just to make sure the food was still up to standard...The day wouldn't be complete without a nice golden oldie, so I came here to grab one.The cache was quickly located here today. A nice and interesting spot, thanks for bringing me here.I took the TB to take for more journeys. Thanks Team Piggy for this traditional cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3602 on the 23rd of September 2023.CITO's are a brilliant way to help keep our community area's clean. The Earth is our playing field and we need to protect it! Always be sure to cache the "leave no trace" way!**South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!**

Oh this is a nice old cache, we came down this way for a bit of a tidy up of our map, still so many caches to find, and many take us somewhere interesting. The co ordinates had us where we needed to be and a cache was soon in hand. Chocolate Starfish was a favourite band of Mrs Kookacrews, lived the Mountain song.
Chocolate Starfish powered on to the Australian music scene in the early 1990s and quickly established themselves as an influential force with their cover of Carly Simon’s ‘You’re So Vain’, original hit ‘Mountain’ and perennial favourite ‘Four Letter Word’.
They wholeheartedly earned their reputation as one of Australia’s best live bands of the 90s, boasting two Top 10 albums and six Top 50 singles.
Twenty-five years later, Chocolate Starfish continues to deliver the pure, unadulterated entertainment for which they are renowned, their captivating shows imbued with intensity and revelry - and, as always, with a few surprises.
Well we didnt even know they were still going haha. Thanks for the cache Team Piggy, nice spot. Found it, signed the log and replaced safe and sound as found. TNLN

Did this one many years ago when it was first put out and I was under a different team name. Now to refind this for my new team name... I recall this being somewhere different last time I nabbed this but hey - it was good to grab it again. TNLN. Cheers.
7 years of travelling Australia and yet we have never visited Normanville so we are here now to rectify that. With clouds overhead, and some rain overnight forecast for the day, we decided to visit to Cape Jervois and surrounds, our first time in this area.

So glad to come down this dirt road to find this to see the wind turbines up close. Fantastic!
Large container is a bit wet as well as log container. If someone has one of those satchets that soak up moisture I think that would do the trick. TFTC

Love turbines, love old caches and have to love the size of this container. Interesting location and pleased to be able to visit.
Trip log:
When it comes to our trips for GreyHams and myself, opportunity seems to play a big part in the timings.. be it an event, sales on airfares or car hire, in this case it was my visiting SA and being there that worked so well for this one!
So it was a drive up to Adelaide to collect GreyHams from the airport and then a trip that would see us ending up in Mount Gambier in the South east of SA, close to my family holidaying nearby and conveniently located that GreyHams could fly home to his. Perfect when a plan just comes together!!!
The primary target of the trip was counties, about 21 in total and we had almost the complete opposite need of counties from each other. Of course we also targeted other caches of importance, oldies dominated the state but there was DT, virtuals, webcams, Ausmer and types. If your cache made our list it had a quality we were wanting, or as GH says, we were waiting for a ferry or a plane!
What a variation in the places we visited, from Adelaide's suburbs out into the hills, the ferry across to Kangaroo Island for the night and the many coastal regions through Victor Harbour and Goolwa. Through Murray Bridge and out into Mallee Country to Lameroo before turning and finding a great bed and meal at the Keith Hotel. Continuing South into the very bottom of the SE of SA before returning north slightly to make the plane, in time and that arrived! So much wild life through the areas and locations of interest, it was great!
Had to love the Santas through the Adelaide hills, seems that stuffing a Santa suit is an art form all of its own, and entertained us for a long time! Kayaking to an island on Kangaroo Island was fun and although the donut from Port Elliot bakery had to pass with masses already queueing... the chunky steak pie from Willunga Bakery might not have been as good as a pepper pie later but it was still damn good! Its the little things sometimes!!!
Many thanks for your cache that led us about on a varied and very enjoyable trip!

This trip came together due in the best way! Aquilus1 was over in SE SA visiting family, yet had a bunch of counties unfound between Adelaide CBD and Victor Harbour, I was missing all the counties south & east of Strathalbyn. What could be better than flying over from Canberra and being picked up at ADL airport and knocking of ALL the counties all the way to Mt Gambier, where I flew out. Last minute Covid shenanigans in Sydney & Melbourne threatened to derail it, but all good.
Of course our trips are more than just counties....we have a range of targets: Oldies, webcams/virtuals, larges with challenges and D/T thrown in for fun. If you are reading this log, then this cache had some quality we were hunting (or we were waiting for ferries or planes!)
We saw such a change in countryside, from Adelaide Hills, to Kangaroo Island, up to Borrika and then down to 'the Mount'....and the Santas! I can see areas where christmas lights arent the done thing, its stuffing your own Santa and posing them in the front garden, saw some very funny examples, we were chuckling for an hour I swear.
South Australia has such a wealth of very old caches, its wonderful. We grabbed lots of oldies and are now just a single find off our Ausmer challenges (just need to get to Melbourne or Brisbane for the last).

Funny story, staying at Stringybark campground, my daughter and I thought we'd try to get close to the windmills. She asked if we could do a cache on the way so we hit navigate on the closest one that we hadn't done yet and guess where we ended up!
Favourite point because I love renewable energy sources!! Thanks for solving two missions in one!

Found the small cache with most of the lid having a hole in it. Log soaked and water in the cache. Replaced the cache with a regular size cache and added a new logbook. quick find.
found with mogni. I came out today to replace one of my caches and find some more caches to get the " wonders of the world " souvenirs.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
After our house sit in Willunga, we are on the road again, filling in time before we go to Kangaroo Island on 1 Nov - which is now tomorrow. We are camped at Rapid Bay while we wait for the ferry. Today a last drive to Normanville and Yankalilla for final supplies and dump point - etc... You know what it is like! Picking up a few last caches as well before we hit the island for three months.
Found in the second most obvious place. Boy it's windy here! Blow the froth off your cappucino! Thanks for bringing us here Team Piggy. You certainly hide is some great locations. Another fave point today

Jesswrigley and I were staying for an extended weekend just outside Cape Jervis, and today was our final day as we made the return trip back to Adelaide. We geocached around Cape Jervis, walked around the old mining area of Talisker Conservation Park, checked out some wind farms, and then drove back via Port Noarlunga.
Our second cache for the day next to these wind fans, and a chance for different views. We were in awe of some of the scenic houses along the road to get to this cache. Cache quickly find, and all in good shape, largely due to the recent maintenance performed. Many thanks.
p.s. the related webpage no longer seems to work, and so should probably be updated.

Went for a drive with my geopooch, checking out my new neighbourhood. So many geocaches so didn't even try to grab them all. Always good to leave a few for another day.
I have replaced cache as the previous one was full of water.

Lovely quiet spot and views! Because of the nearby wind turbines I thought this would be a great spot to launch my trackable and give it a good head start, so I have placed it here The container is still very wet and the logbook is mouldy, there was even an earwig living in there, I tried to dry the container and its content and logged on a new dry piece of paper I brought. Thanks for the cache!
Found it but the container was full of water and the log was wet. Thanks for bringing me so close to the wind farm. TFTC
Boy those windmills are big. Found log, dries it off as best I could as it was soaked. May need some maintenance.
Found it very wet, unfortunately was found upside down!! A another beautiful building!!
We found this cache back in about 2010, when we first started caching, but didnt log it online. Time to find it again and sign the log book and also log it online - done. Lovely views from around here. Signed log.
Team MADS went out for a drive again.

Awesome machines - if only the savings in fuel costs were passed on to us !
We had lives, We had fun
We had seasons in the sun;
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach. Or up the hill... They should be choccy at Easter anyway!
Cool to find an old Team Piggy cache. Apparently there are cows here too.
We found it in the dark and the local farmer was concerned to know we
weren't after his cattle. Seemed quite relieved to know we were caching !

We are in South Australia for a one week holiday at the Lady Bay Resort at the golf club near Normanville. Day 4 - a day closer to 'home' - south to Cape Jervis and a bit more.
We have 22 solar panels on the roof at our place. But if the power grid goes down, they are useless. Same happened in SA recently, too! I think it's terrible the way the electric companies tie up usage of "free" energy so they can make huge profits at our expense. Rant over. [xx(]
Cache found quickly.

We decided to head out for a drive and ended up visiting Sealink terminal and the Windfarm, to show 5yo geodaughter just how big they are. Along the way we had to stop a few times for young calves wandering across the roads and for a large mob of kangaroos to cross the road too. We ended up with quite a few different experiences, which geodaughter just loved.
Cache container has seen better days (hole in lid and very fragile plastic) and will need replacing if it is to survive this winter.
A great experience had by all of us. TFTC Team Piggy!

After a great morning tackling some high terrain caches at Rapid Bay with Rod81w and family, JJ52 and I were now continuing the journey of the area on our own.
I think that this was the closest I've ever got to one of these starfish monsters. Very interesting indeed.
TFTC Team Piggy!
PS the container lid is broken and needs replacing before winter rains. Cache has been stored upsidedown to stop water getting in.

Up close and personal with another huge windmill. You don't realise just how big they are until you get close.
Cache was found after admiring and listening to the sounds these things make.

Bit scared of the long grass in hot weather but found a path after scouring for possible hiding spots from the road. Tftc
A great drive along the dirt road, saw several kangaroos and viewing spots along the way including a trig point and at this time of year a lot of butterflys around the flowers growing on the side of the road TFTC Team Piggy

Adventurous drive in for an easy cache. Kids loved it. Especially the part when re reunited a calf who'd wandered on the road, with its mum!
The three of us were down south today grabbing a few caches. We stopped by here to admire the views of the windfarm. Not surprisingly it was quite windy up here today.

Had to wait for over 20 4wds to pass before looking for the cache. Looks like they were touring the wind farm track.
It's good to find old caches like this one still going.

On a geocaching holiday with my brother, Richmond Lad. Staying at Goolwa and Murray Bridge and doing day trips to round up lots of interesting caches and some power series as well. Well done to the cache owners for finding these wonderful places and maintaining them as well. It was funny to see the windmills moving slowly in the very strong winds! TFTC.
