After finding 444 went cross river,. short walk found it still there. lost rowlock so had to stop for the day tftc
Looked at this one on the GPS after visiting nearby 444. Read that it was offline due to access problems.
We were in the boat so thought we would give it a go.
Walked about 100m to GZ and realised that that there was no pencil. Walked back and got it.
Shots rang out from nearby duck shooters so we kept our bright lifejackets on and didnt hang around too long.
Next Finder to bring pencil please.

Due to the walking trail unavailable this will be unavailable until further notice
Innamincka 08-3. I am glad I did not read the Parrot log before heading off for this one. Despite the missing bridges and the difficult to follow track I really enjoyed the area. I am sure it will recover further in the future. Thanks.

The first find for quite some time although that is hardly surprising under the circumstances. The fire damage is still very evident and clearly this area is not regenerating as quickly as some other Australian habitats. There has been no repairs to the tracks (not a big issue) or the bridges (a bigger issue but not insurmountable - use the bottom part). Once at GZ the cache replacement was found easily. It'll be a while before this area returns to its previous condition. TFTC

We went camping at Moorok this weekend and didnt know about the fire until we got there. The Rangers tell me it happened about 6 weeks ago. The greenery is already starting to peak out.
Lots of trees have been burnt out and there were even a couple of small fires at the base of some of the big trees.
I checked out one tree and the ground was still warm around it's base even though the fire had long been out.
I love this cache and given all the other damage I was sill surprised to find the boardwalk and bridges gone.
I knew where ground zero was supposed to be I have been here about 5 times. However it is now all gone. Scorched to the ground and no sign of a melted cache container. It must have been an inferno in there. One bench remains but the one I sat and logged on is a sad sight.
I have relocated the cache to the closest unburnt area that still has a view of the surviving bench and sign.
The new Co ordinates are S 34° 14.678 E 140° 23.354

Our first and only unsuccessful cache of the day - but still perhaps the most memorable and enjoyable. Had not checked recent logs but can confirm a busfire certainly went through this area.
The first ten metres of the Kaliwirri Walk was unscathed, but the rest....
Nevertheless, Gum-Nut, Gum-Dog and Gum-Mum decided to venture on. Charred borders,an occasional metal support and information signs marked the trail clearly enough to follow.
We waded (2 metres six inches deep), we jumped (1-1/2 meters of creek), clambered over fallen trees which made makeshift bridges and "tight-roped walked" the metal support of burnout out bridges. It was fantastic!
Located the general area of the cache but did not find it. The actual seat has survived or been replaced. Everything else has been blackened. There is no green. Younger slim trees are badly scorched and scarred but may recover. At ground zero found a depression filled with charred carbon. Dug around for some time, but found no evidence of cache remains. I cannot be confident that the cache is not there - but I must admit we have serious doubts.
Can I suggest
a/ the next person in, contacts the cache owner and obtains specifc information on the cache hide to verify its survival / loss
b/ the next person in takes a replacement cache and contents, in case it is needed - it is still a great location
c/ regrade the difficuty of the terrain to 3 1/2 until the boardwalks and trails are repaired.
So, thanks Barry and Beryl for a great DNF! (PS think we almost deserve a smiley anyway - will upload photos if I can!

Just updating the information. The Murray Pioneer http://www.murray-pioneer.com.au/news.htm#anchorPopular%20campsites%20remain%20closed reports that the area will now be closed until (at least) the 21st December.
According to the local paper, The Murray Pioneer, the Moorook Game Reserve is closed until December 10.

I haven't been to the site to confirm - just thought I'd pass on what I read in the paper.
Cheers

A reat camping spot we didn't know existed. Pity we are not camping this trip. Did the walk, quite dry country and stiff northerly blowing with some fine rain to confuse the issue.
Found the "fruit" in short time.
TOOK: Blue Car

Thanks Barry & Beryl

#19/32 on our Riverland long weekend.
Satloc was a bit dodgy and with SO many hiding places we spent a little time locating the cache. However the walk along this beautiful nature trail made it all worthwhile. It must be a wonderful place to hear the dawn chorus.

We heard the orchestra, my favourite of all Kookuburra's were in fine voice. We went back and forth, too and Fro a few times, should realy read the hints and clues better, but as SHMBO1 did not have reading specs and was sharing HWML2's specs,so it was a bit of a riot at times, but we did eventually find the cache and all was good, we intended this to be 100 but the mishap earlier in the day delayed the proceedings, so have to get all members together tomorrow ( Monday ) to do the BIG 100

With the exception of river traffic we were relieved to find we had this place to ourselves today even though it is a holiday weekend. We were also relieved to find the track in had just dried out enough not to be muddy as there was ample evidence that previous visitors had not been so lucky.
We left one of our signature Mondo Figurines for the cache and took a Pink and Blue Snake for a reminder of this pleasant place.
Thank you again, Barry and Beryl.

The last time we tried for this cache we got no closer than 600m. This time we had 600mm of mud under our shoes. Maybe this made it easier to find the cache.
Beautiful location, so peaceful. My count was four species.

Soggy is the word that best describes this caching experience - we had it all, boggy and slippery roads, rain for the trudge, and we even helped a guy get his bogged car out - fantastic area though so will definitely be returning - TFTC
Found by Wombat Warriors 2 after long hot walk in, too hot for much of an orchestra today. Found after GPS had a bit of a fit then settled down. Clues were useful, TNLNSL, thanks
postiegirl06 stopped today and enjoyed the "Bush Orchestra".
Great Boardwalk and......... "How's the Serenity?"
I took more than the 60 seconds recommended to enjoy GZ!
A lovely place to be........My 100th Find too.

Having camped on the other side of the river so many times in the past it's amazing I didn't previously know of this park or access.
The area is looking pretty dry, but then at GZ there was greenery and flowers! So beautiful. The orchestra was in full song and the locals posed for a photo opportunity, but it was dinner time for the mozzies, so time to move on.

Found with MagdaGlen (FerretGirl's mum). Saw a couple of kangaroos, and got attacked by mosquitos nearly the size of kangaroos. Found just on dusk - nice sunset.

Could not find on Saturday night as it was to dark and could not see a path heading up to the cache. 2nd attempt was more succesful, but the Gps was way out of kilter, a calibration had it in hand.
We heard 7 birds, and took the Worldspan Cow, it's been here a while now.
Another nice cache on our Riverland Cache Assault.

Nice walk around nature trail. Plenty of birds singing today. An easy find. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely place. We will come here again, next time with a tent.

On our arrival we waited in anticipation for the orchestra to begin the overture. It soon became clear that most members were absent. However the wind section provided some pleasant music as it played the Eucalypts above.
Like Four-Fun I too had a whole river between me and the cache. Should have looked at the map first. Pleasant walk but beaten to the find by the muggle with me. Twice today he's done that, I must be out of practice.
Took the eraser and left a small blue car.
Took the eraser and left a small blue car.
We also would of had a 300m swim but I know exactly where to go, to get to the trail head. As I have been to this reserve many times camping, I have never done the walk, yes it was very interesting.

Found after a little driving. First attempt had me 600m from cache with 300m of water included in that! Second attempt gave me a pleasant, informative walk and an easy find after only a 50km drive.
Took a possum and left a carabiner shaped radio.
Also grabbed the 'Shelldrake' TB. Cheers.

Warm day no mozzies. Found after a short search. Camped nearby a few times before we got into geocaching. Left Klem Bear and Shelldrake TB. Took McOctopus to make room in the container.
A great walk in nature. Stopped to listen to the orchestra but all that could be heard was the buzzing of mosquitoes and the slapping of legs.
Found the cache a little away from where I thought which only delayed the anoyance of bugs and quickly signed log and ran for open spaces.

Found ourselves on the wrong side of the river for this one. 600m was the closest we got.
Found at 1320. A great srot for a little stroll. The natural orchestra sounded great although the insect section of the band was playing a little too loudly. Got eaten alive but really enjoyed finding this cache.
Took old coin, left penguin.

After a short drive around to find the way in, found park and track. Find cache shortly after a lovly walk in the bush
Found at 6:05pm. Found in company of Cold Freeze.
We firstly approached from way the wrong way. I didn't actually know you could approach this spot from another direction but a little experimentation soon had us on the right track. Pointed niece "J" in the right direction so that she could also claim her first find.
Thanks B & B from D B-A with J & K.
Took a toy soldier. Left a mondo figurine.

Can't believe I missed this one on the last two attempts. At least when I read throught the log I got to see I was in good company. I love this location and didn't mind having an excuse to come back. Brought the Honeymoon TB along as I think this is a beautiful example of an SA riverland cache.
It was early morning and kangaroos where out and about. Signed the log took a Kagaroo item and left a stress ball.
Bought the TB back with me.

Beautiful location. Fabulous walk and an easy approach to ground zero. From there everything fell apart.
I tried twice today to locate this cache. After last week in Mt Crawford I thought I wasnt to bad at bush searching but today has proved me wrong. Had an accuraccy of 5 metres and circle out quite a way but had no luck. Was this buried last time ?

Was in the area on another matter, and thought I would take time out to do some hunting. I first approached this one from the wrong side of the river, before I bit the bullet and invested in a more detailed map of the area Found after a pleasant but muddy walk along the trail. Had nothing with me, so TNLNSL. Thanks for showing me this spot B & B. Might come back here camping with the family, some time soon.

Found by Sam, Jedda and baby Declan, this being our third try, 1st time was incorrect coords, 2nd we were on wrong side of the river, but we finally found it. the walking track was a bit muddy, but luckily we had the Jeep Liberty Limited pram to get through the tough terrain. TNLN. Thanx for the nice location, and peaceful stroll.
There were six members of the team this trip, and we enjoyed the stroll, the bush and the birdlife. A lovely spot. Thanks B&B
We had a great time just getting to this one - a great walk, really pointing out how special this area was that I'd previously thought of a just the bush.

Found at 4.35PM Last cache for the day - now off to set up camp at Loxton. A very pleasant walk and a nice location for the cache where we heard the appropriate number of bird calls. TNLN Greg and Bev
ahhh, nice spot.... enjoyed the drive in and the walk around.... one of the nicest caches i've found.... sat on the logs and watched (and listened as instructed) to the world go by for a few minutes... very refreshing..... took the manicure set and left an Adelaide Zoo animal keyring.... thanks B&B for a great cache
Found this one about 3:30pm, our 4th for the day and probably the most enjoyable. First went wrong way... oops! G3 stopped and read each and every sign along the walk. As instructed had minute's silence - even all 3 geckolings were quiet - amazing! Took sticky lizard, left monster puppet and bouncy ball. Thanks!
Found by Rav 4 Raiders at 12.45pm on a cool day of caching. Sat on log, closed eyes as the sign said. Heard beautiful natural sounds of the bush, interupted by the blow fly quartet! TN, left toy soldier. Thanks Barry & Beryl...really enjoyed the walk to get to the cache site.
A very pleasant walk to this cache especially with the harmony of birdsong.
Took keyring and left manicure set.
Thanks Barry and Beryl

What a lovely spot - glad to visit an area we had often seen on the map but never ventured to. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk and birdlife. The orchestra was in fine form today. Took purse and left purse. Thanks Barry and Beryl
Fourth of five caches for the day (others being: Twin Spans [B)], River Ruins, gondoliers and Bonny cache)
An interesting walk with a cache thrown in half way and a boardwalk too for good measure. Once the cache had been found it seemed a bit pointless going back the way I'd come when completing the Kaliwira (meaning "river flood flats") Walk would take just as long ... a clever ploy by Barry and Beryl? Hmmm...
Found 28/12/03 (28th December) @ 5:20pm by Paul (Team Stargazer)
Took - Measuring tape

What a beatiful place to visit, sat down to listen to the orchestra and the Geopup trio started barking instead, not quite music to our ears. Took a koala, left a little pig. Thanks B&B.
Found by Mary & David at 1445. A long time since we'd seen this much rain. The lovely tracks were a quagmire, but the rain did show up the glorious colours in the gum tree bark. A few damp birds about, but they weren't very musically inclined this afternoon. Took car, left 5-piece mounted grinding stone set, which had to be taken out of it's packing to fit. Our thanks to Barry and Beryl.
heh, got there on the third attempt. This cache is worth finding - I didn't know about the reserve it's in, and it's quite a find. Thanks Barry & Beryl.

Couldn't find this cache either (other being Marty's bend.) only managed to get bogged. Was a bit of a waste of a long drive really.
