Found by Mary & David at 0850. We drove by yesterday evening but the gate was locked. Still locked this morning so David walked in. The new construction mentioned in the description turned out to be for another plaque and base, which was apparently unveiled last December. Sadly, it has already been vandalised and the new plaque has vanished. We rang ACT Forests, whose number was on a sign back down the road, who explained about the gate and some recent 'trouble' at the site, but the latest vandalism was news to them. Future visitors can collect the key for the gate and return it later if the walk is not attractive enough. Phone 62072486 for futher details. The cache itself is safe and sound, and the site has a direct connection with our "Chain of Command" cache in Victoria. TNLN. Thanks to Panic for bringing us back here after a long absence.
Due to a change in personal circumstances I will not be able to maintain the cache for much longer. It will be archived some time in the next two weeks. If you have items left here that you would like to retrive please visit the cache and remove them.

Well hidden. I came here about two months ago but there were four cars full of tourists here, luckily today was in the high 30s and all the sane people were in air conditioned comfort elsewhere.
Just a quick note to say that it definitely wasn't us who left the cache out - we hid that thing good.
An easy ride up here on the MTB. Got to the cache & found it lying on top of the gravel, fully exposed. It appears some people who were just visiting thought it was some sort of log book for them, so they signed it too. Anyway, I completely reburied it under the gravel. And then , COOEEE a great ride back down the hill. No. 6 for the day.
Second for the day. I think we took the really, really hard way up - if you're coming from the Queanbeyan side, make sure to take the *second* left. Kept waiting for trailer hillbillies to drag us out of the car and sacrifice us at the Speedway of Death
Easy find once we were at the site. Took small car, left Kool-Aid. Consume. Reproduce. Drink Kool-Aid. FNORD

Our second cache today. What a pretty site. I didn't know this one even existed. We'll visit again. Took plastic rat, left sparkling sea creatures.
What has Urban Services got against me finding this cache???
I've made six attempts to get to it, only to be foiled by road works (once), work crews (twice) and now I find the gate locked at 4pm Friday, 9.15am Monday and 1.30pm on Monday.
I can only guess that theywant to keep the place looking nice until a ceremony or something.
I will try again in a week or so.

Looks like all the work has been finished. There is a biggish turning area and a new monument in the centre of it. It even looks like they went around and cleaned up all the rubbish that was tossed around the place. As I was going to do the cache in trash out thing and I only ended up finding about 3 beer bottles.
By the way, excellent hiding spot for the cache. Even though this is really near where the public will look they would be very unlikely to find it. I may have to use this idea myself at a later stage.

Knew the spot existed (from my aviation pursuits), but have just never been there before. The roadway appears to have been just been recently graded as it didn't seem to be as rough as advertised, even for a 2WD station wagon. The final clue, of course made the hunt very easy. Hopefully, even with the construction work going on, the great unwashed will be most unlikely to accidently stumble across the cache. On completing the formalities, the aim of the exercise was to get out before the gates closed at 5PM! Luckily I had spotted the closing warning notice otherwise I had intended to be quite leisurely about it.
Took the yellow car and replaced it with a TV antenna adaptor.

I'm not surprised few people come here. The first 100 metres of road is enough to put them off. Glad my car has good suspension.
To think I was going to walk from the locked gate to the cache on Wednesday after work. An interesting spot all the same. I left the Yowie 'Nap' and a lollypop.

Nice drive up here (bump bump)...some victorians arrived just after we found the cahce, they weren't cachers and we had to wait till they left until we could return the cache
My fifth virgin find for the day! Woohoo! And a nice easy one at that. Mind you it took longer than expected, as there were a couple of cars intent on being parked right in front of the site, and intent on not leaving… (I was wondering if it might have been two fellow geocachers trying to see who had the most patience). I left – did another cache, and came back. Unbelievably one car was still there. Oh well, I parked around the corner, and it didn’t take too long for them to leave. Thanks Panic for showing me another interesting spot! – ThomasS.
