We might have driven past this feature before realizing it was here without the Virtual. It was fascinating, but in some ways a bit sinister looking with all the sharp edges brought about by the slate. We wished we could have heard the wind chimes. Never seen any the size of these before!Answers sent.Time to move on today as we head to the Warrambungles, caching on our way. Virtuals, puzzles, Earthcaches and some trads on an at times wet day, but not as cold as we have experienced in some recent times. It was an interesting day's travel with a variety of caches and some good things to see.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Team '80'.**SKI Pair****

Couple of Finnish vanlifers traveling around this beautiful Australia with Matilda the campervan. Stopping here and there to enjoy life without any plans. After getting everything set up and visiting some friends, Mntti1 and I began our travels five months ago. After visiting Melbourne and Great Ocean road we worked for couple of weeks in Myrtleford for hop harvest season. We finished the season couple of days ago and made it to Canberra just on time for Mega! Today we continued our travels and visited some caches, one of them this! Thank you for the cache!

Twas a very early morning that I pulled up for this one. So much so I did not see the main sculptures until venturing closer. For a while I wondered if the cache was about a light post!I set about collecting my clues. I took almost as long to take the photo - as it was quite dark still but I wanted to prove I had been at GZ. A great little virtual. Have emailed my answers to the questions as requested. Well, for someone that has not bothered to do anything geocaching related for a while I seem to be going out of the way to do Mega events. This particular caching trip was the brainchild of the other participant in this little excursion, that being greencordial. I flew into Toowoomba this morning hoping that the car gremlins had departed (they hadnt, but were sorted with another quick mechanical visit) and we were on our ways to Canberra. Fingers crossed 2nd day of Canberra Mega trip, First virtual. Interesting pieces of art. Nice choice. Answers sent Thanks Team '80' for placing this Virtual for me to convert into a smilie

The map lead us here, chasing a couple of virtuals. Sorry I am one of those new beaut geocachers who have only used a phone to cache. Glad to have stopped. Greencordial asked BenM70 to do up a caching found template while she is doing the driving and Im doing duck all. Im actually just pressing the screen randomly like Im actually enthused to be doing this. Anyways, we are visiting the national capital to attend Grrencordial2nd mega as I got scared by Covid for Dayboro and didnt take the punt that Townsvilles coolest cachers BenM70 and burgo78 did. Thank you Team '80' for placing this cache for me to enjoy!

This time it is the turn of OzGeoMuster MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Of course, I thought this one referred to the things at the front sign, but I had clicked on the other one and wondered where it was taking us, until we arrived at the garden. This was a fun stop for a virtual and stretch on a 3-day road trip to Tamworth Are those the biggest wind chimes in the world Took some time to respond to the questions, take a selfie and pics of the structures. After a cool start to the day in Ilford and a medium level of heat in Mudgee, I didnt expect to get out of the vehicle at Wellington Caves to find it was near 100C!! The rest of the family stayed in the air conditioning while I came and had a quick look and took pictures. I was so intrigued by the metalwork that we stopped here again the next morning on our way out of the caravan park for a better look in the cooler morning air. Really wish council would put some money into upkeep of such a fantastic site. The weeds will take over soon and pieces of the sculpture need to be reattached. In particular the missing pipes on the wind chime. Absolutely love this sculpture though, the recycling of materials and the story of how every piece relates to the surrounding community and landscape. Thanks for bringing me here. The scowl on my face in the photo is not a look of displeasure. It was sooooo hot and sunny and it was a quick selfie for the purpose of this log.

After a quick drive through town we pulled up to find we were somehow stuck in a microwave. Instead of it being brisk and chilly it was hot and sweaty. My wife and I are headed to Orange for the week and based on the temperatures from last week packed every jumper we owned. However today the first we are doing when we get into town is heading to Kmart to buy some togs.

Just standing out in the sun to grab the answers for a few seconds was hot enough. It might be a heat wave but nothing gets in the way of finding some caches on a drive.

Thanks for pointing out the interesting feature. Answers have been emailed. tftc

Travelling north on our way to QOGM in Queensland we drove through Wellington to include a different LGA to our map. This looked an interesting spot to stop for a stretch and a cache. We both enjoyed strolling around the vicinity and reading all the information panels, as well as taking photos of them. Id recommend anyone travelling through to stop here. The ingenuity of the artist is fantastic.

GazaC and I are on a road trip this week through North West and Central West NSW. Today, we stopped here, attracted by the 3 non-traditional caches that people have been kind enough to place.

Shrëk and i were passing through Wellington so why not take an opportunity to visit the caves on the way. Pretty cool set up here and had a great wander around checking things out. Of course we collected some info along the way because there's some geocaches here
It was great to the steel girders being re-used in such an artistic fashion. I just love seeing abstract sculptures like this what a great thing to see as you arrive at Wellington.
Thanks for bringing me here team80

Sims_family and Dromaniax are on day one of a our 10 day trip to Queensland and back again towing a 12x8x7 foot trailer that is loaded to the hilt and weighs quite a bit. Fuel efficiency has gone out the window with the Ginja Ninja (My Orange Mitsubishi Triton) going through fuel faster than I have ever seen before.
Day two of our trip we will make it from Canberra to Moree. Dromanix has planned the route to grab as many LGA's as possible along the way. He also loves Virtuals so we are also stopping at as many Virtuals we can as well. After a good look around we had the info required. Answers were sent for both of us by Dromaniax
Thank you Team'80' for the Virtual

Today is the first day of the Sims_family/Dromaniax big road trip to Queensland and back again.

We are towing a very big trailer, which is chockers, but when you have a mission, and someone else is paying for the fuel, and there is the opportunity for nine days of caching fresh fields, you jump at the chance.

We have a long list of target caches and hope to cross quite a few goals off the list on this trip.

We are working to get to 180 Virtuals, so Virtuals are high on the list of desirable caches to find.

Heading North, we diverted to find this Virtual and, in our haste, missed the one nearby, oh well there is always next time.

Thank you Team'80' for this Virtual cache.

We are on our way to the Rutherglen Mega. When we were in Lightning Ridge and had gone on a day trip to Grawin, 3 warning lights came up on our dash. So instead of going to Bourke (a local calls this road the Chiropractic Highway) we came to Dubbo. Mazda Service Centre were fantastic and fixed it that day. But because we are going to Broken Hill we thought going for a short trip to make sure all was right would be a good idea. So we looked and there were 2 puzzle caches at Wellington, one of Johns favourite type of caches.

Australian country towns are doing so much to bring their history to light and make it a beautiful place as well.

I couldn't bypass a virtual, while we were here, but we needed to get on with our day so made tracks back to Dubbo and onwards.

Day One.
My son and I New Year trip turn into drive into NSW and beyond. Today was more about driving. I found 9 today with few DNF. Oh well they do happen.
The breakdown was a mystery, community event, traditional, multi and adventure lab.

Day Two.
We carry on heading south down Newell highway grabbing more caches. Stopping for old and some new virtual, plus more non traditional for a challenge. Unfortunately some of those prove hard to find.
I had lots of fun doing earthcache they brought us to some wonderful places.

I found 26 today the breakdown was 3 virtual, 3 earthcache, 5 traditional and 3 adventure labs with 15 waypoints.

Sorry for the generic log.

It's a long drive from Tamworth to Canberra, and it's important to break it up with a cache or two. I had limited time in Wellington so I prioritised this cache because it's 19 years old and the structures are fascinating.

I found this cache during a 6-day road trip to Brisbane and back, the purpose of which was to deposit that elusive geocacher Miskit in a warmer clime. We drove up via the coast, but I came back via an inland route. In doing so I managed to find caches in 7 or 8 counties in which I had never found a cache. I also got to visit many cities and towns that I'd never been to before, and re-visit places that I hadn't visited for many years.
I learned that the inland route is slower and far more elevated. I had no idea that the New England Hwy got to over 1400 metres. I also learned that the inland way is 95% or more single-lane. And there's a lot of road work to fix all the damage from the rain. Single-lane + road work = lots of stopping. At one point I was stopped for 15 minutes at a temporary road light while the road work people did their thing.
All up it was a safe and successful trip. Lots of AL caches, especially in Brisbane. I wish I had a few more weeks in Brisbane and vicinity, plus a kayak, a ladder, and a longer fishing pole. Brisbane is chock-full of interesting caches. Hopefully I'll get back there one day soon.
Thanks to all the geocachers who hid caches. I enjoyed finding them. The sneakiest cache was near Guyra Railway Museum, and the hardest-to-reach was Numbers III (GC8XD6K) - a difficult tree climb in the north of Brisbane. This was also my favourite puzzle cache of the trip, although I didn't collect a lot of puzzle caches this trip - it was mainly about collecting challenges and counties. My fave AL was in Laurel Bank Park, Toowoomba. What a great little park!
I got Miskit to Brisbane okay, and he seems to have landed on his feet. And I got back to Canberra okay after over 2200kms on the road.

We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.

Day 21 – Last day for us today our journey would be from Dubbo to Canberra. We were both well and truly ready to be home again back to the home comforts. Nice to go away but even nicer to return home. Many caching stops along our way home and this was one of them.

Interesting looking piece of work. Answers have been sent to the Co.

Day 2 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

Today we headed on north up as far as Lightning Ridge. We definitely took the tourist route: visiting Dubbo, Dunedoo, Gilgandra and Gulargambone along the way. The rain was intermittent throughout the day which helped us decide to choose another cabin instead of the tent again. We also picked up a large chip in the windscreen, but a piece of weatherproof tape did the trick in stopping further cracking.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

We were going to do this cache on the way into town yesterday, but it was raining so drove back south this morning to make sure we didn’t miss it.

Find # 10329

Up in Parkes for 2 weeks with work. Looking after the factory while the local manager has a well earned Holiday.

Having the weekend to myself I decided I had to go for a look around the area this seen me go from Parkes to Wellington taking a couple of back tracks.

going from the dish I was making my way to Wellington aiming for the caves and the 2 virtual caches there. along the way I stopped at a few of the "odd" locations for some grabs.

What an awesome re use of steel. not what i was expecting at all. after taking the photo(s) i had a look around the way things were put together and how some items were used. i have some ideas for some basic stuff for the garden back home now.

**Today:**

Left Tamworth, NSW today to make the longish drive back home to Canberra, ACT. Only managed to squeeze in 5 cache finds today, but they were all of high quality and I grabbed a couple of new counties/LGAs to add to my tally. Two Virtual caches within a couple hundred metres of each other was the real treat for the day, in an interesting location! Also visited an amazing railway station / memorial, learnt some geology and made a tough find on an old cache at the Gulgong Goldfields!

Thanks to all the CO's

On our way home from Broken Hill, we stayed overnight in Wellington, a bit of a slow start, with car problems with the 70 yr old car. Stopped here to have a look and check out this great virtual

TFTC,
Great to come across these early caches and a big thanks to the CO for keeping them going.
After a late start in Wellington due to a blown oil seal we made this one of only 2 stops on our way home.
Sent answers to the CO eventually after clicking on the wrong cache (I hate phone caching) for Nana nel and myself. Amazing how one persons junk becomes another's gold.
Added a favourite and visited trackables.

We had a lot more fun exploring here than we expected.
They are certainly weird structures but the more you look the more fascinating it became.
My special favourite was the John Oxley’s Ghost mosaic.
Thanks Team80 for showing us this collection.
Discovered on our way to the Mega at Dayboro.
A favourite point added to your impressive collection.

In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location.

[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.
