Such a long walk for a DNF so frustrating when big ones like this are not updated, was a lovely tree but think the back burning got to it....
Searched for a few minutes and were gutted we couldn't find it, shame since I love finding old caches

#4399 (25 of 27 today)
The Geowife has a card making class today on the Central Coast - and as it goes ALL day, I've thoughtfully volunteered to do chauffeur duties... So what will I do between 9am and 6pm? I wonder...
As I'd already cleared out the caches near the class venue (and needed breakfast and petrol) I knew I realistically had 8 solid hours of caching, so decided on a circular route and had hoped to find 30 - 35 caches, including a few bush ones. Didn't quite work out that way as I had a few long DNFs. In the end found 27 - probably could have got 30 if not for driving past a few due to not spotting parking possibilities. And didn't get to the final area I was targeting near Narara where I'd even solved a few puzzles.
But a good day, with plenty of driving for *The Hademobile*.
And in the mix was my 4400th find. Decided to let that one fall where it may. That required 26 finds today, so thankfully I did just get there.
Thanks to **xPhenoms**, whose *Motorcycle* series provided many of the day's finds - parking for which I suspect is easier if travelling by motorcycle!
I also grabbed a few of **Shockers'** *CAW* series.
I'll try to make one or two unique comments for each cache, but so many to do...
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Parked at the Great North Walk entrance and walked to GZ. Noticed the private property sign 20-30 metres away, and the beware of the dog sign.
Started the search and soon spotted the cache. Made the grab and as I was sitting on the ground opening it was attacked by a large black and white dog. OK, I say attacked, but it was the friendliest dog I've come across in ages - and stayed with me until I drove away.
That said, I suspect it would freak out plenty of people - I was certainly startled initially.
Completed signing duties and replaced, then back along the track with my new friend. I got in the car and the dog decided to race me. My it really runs fast - only started pulling ahead when I hit 50.
A favourite here. Great placement and a unique experience with the dog.

Third target for my caching trip around Somersby today. Parked at the end or Robinson Rd and followed the GNW all the way to the cache. Awesome old scribbly.

We spent the day caching around the Central Coast today, instead of work/vacation care. With much nicer weather than the preceeding couple of days, we had a great day filling in some D:T grid holes and doing some less-park-and-grab caches than we did last weekend.
It's hard to believe this grand little cache in this grand old tree hasn't had a visitor in 6 months. We parked at the GNW trailhead on Robinsons Road, and walked in. There are a of scribblies through here, but the main one was certainly a sight. Seeing the original logbook still in place was very cool too. It is getting pretty full, we signed under barefootjeff's entry.

Today we had a GREAT day caching around Gosford and Tumbi Umbi, we found 19 caches and only 2 DNFs. Lots of big walks and aching legs!

Did this one at 17:30 in winter. Getting dark and damn I've read too many creepy pastas for this to be entirely enjoyable. Man I'm creeeeeeped oooooouuut!! Loved it once I was back at the car and the adrenaline was wearing out of my system
I did this one at 5.30pm in winter, so it was fairly dark. It was an easy find, but in the dark REALLY creepy! I've read way too many creepypastas for it to be entirely enjoyable, but during the day I imagine it would be quite nice. The pen for the log doesn't work so o took a photo as proof of find. I am creeeeped out! I'm sure when I get back to my car and the adrenaline wears off I'll be feeling really good about it though. Thanks for the cache, it was a good find.
I highly recommend doing this one at night, it adds a whole new level to the experience, and GZ is right by a path so easy to navigate in the dark.
Found while surveying the area for some of my own hides. Nice to find another GM GC. TFTH! Original log in reasonable condish but pretty full. Lovely walk, didn't even know it was here. A big reason I love this game.

#10 for the day, found 21 all up.
Parked and noticed wild dog poisoning had happened lately, and with 2 hounds that love to eat random stuff off the ground as we walk, decided they were best kept in the car. Not wanting to take long, i encouraged Ausfeet to jog most of the way to the cache and back. Would love to one day walk the GNW, but for now i'll enjoy each piece that has a cache :p
Cache itself was full of water, drained it out. Log was damp but was able to write on it.

What a magnificent old tree this scribbly gum is ... certainly worthy of having a cached placed and named in its honour!
It's taken quite a few geo-visits to this part of the world for me to get to this cache, but the wait was worth it! As we wandered down a sometimes mushy track from Silvester Rd, we hadn't really looked at how far we had to walk, but just when I decided it was time to check the GPS, we came upon a tree so different to everything around it that we knew we were in the right place ... and a quick search for the cache in likely places quickly confirmed that we indeed were in the right place. The cache itself gave me a good laugh too ... a real throwback to days gone by when the geo-widow had a set of these canisters in our kitchen back in the 1970's/80's.
Thanks for bringing us here GeoMonkeys, and for the smiley too.

I can understand why you forgot about placing this cache... I kept forgetting to find it - just one of those green dots I see from time to time and think "must do that", but never do - but today, after a driver to Spencer for a geology lesson, Opa-Shrek and I had some time up our sleeves and having collected just about everything else in spitting distance it seemed it was now or never.
We parked and headed along the trail, at one point trying (me less successfully than Opa-shrek) to avoid a sloshy patch. When we figured we had wandered just about far enough I was just about to get my device out to check, when low and behold - there's the Scribbly, and my, what a grand old Scribbly.
I checked the obvious spot out first, banging my head in the process, then located the less obvious, and the cache. Opa-Shrek reminisced about containers such as these, showing his age, coz I thought it must have been Tupperware (but it was 'plastics', it's predecessor) - attendance signed, I dropped a geocoin, which appears to be missing from my inventory, so I will have to try fix that, or the Next finder might need to grab it from wherever it was I accident key said I dropped it....also, Daphne's sword TB was not inside the cache.
Thanks for a nice walk to a grand old natural monument geomonkey's. Much enjoyed TFTH!

What a fantastic cache! We're over here on holiday from Singapore and have set ourselves a goal of finding at least one geocache per day. This one was perfect, as we'd visited the Australian Reptile Park earlier in the day. We'd never have done this beautiful walk if we weren't geocachers and we are so glad we did this one - it was stunning, and so interesting to see the scribbly gums! I took loads of photos and we really enjoyed finding the cache. TFTC!
Wow
What a tree- fave later as I love seeing the impressive things sitting out there and cache placements that showcase them.
Have done this part of GNW with the boys but old scribbly hadn't quite sunk in.

Found 6:18 pm. Wanting to grab some caches today headed out to the Central Mangrove area after The Shockers said I should come out there and do some of their caches. Boy the caches out here are further apart than normal. This cache was kind of on the way. I had three newbies with me to show them a bit of geocaching. Unbeknownst to them there was going to a little exercise involved mwah ah mwah hahaha. We set off down the track from a point that I parked the geovehicle and eventually we came in sight of the old scribbly. We started to search and I was looking in the nooks and crannies and could see that one spot went all the way through but the other side was a better proposition and before we knew it the cache was in hand. This cache was good for the others to then see a couple of nick knacks and what a larger cache may look like. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks GeoMonkeys, for this great old cache... Even the container is ancient
This was perfectly placed to grab on my way home from an overnighter in Yarramalong, where the Great NorthWalk also passes. Ah, jogging along this ancient route brought back my old dreams of running the while GNW from Sydney to Newcastle... One day, perhaps!
Thanks for helping me cross OCT-2003 off my dates-placed list!

Not sure if the lid pops out. I found the container with its lid aside. After logging, I closed it, but opened by itself when placing. Grab it again, closed & put it back carefully...

After 17 days after my last note, I'm back today. This time no hail, no flood, perfect weather for bush walking. The container had its lid aside. I noticed it pops out very easily. Fortunately the logbook was protected. However, it's needed a new one. There's no more room for correct timeline.

Tried to make this one yesterday after the rain & strong winds.. Not sure if I was in the right entry, anyway.., as the pics show, very wet & slippery! So, I left to another day
After a few false stats this morning, finding this one eased the frustration quite a bit.
Great walk through the scrub.
Saw a wallaby along the way.

I wasn't very organised so hadn't looked at the maps, was a bit worried until the trail turned in the right direction. But ended up having an enjoyable walk through interesting forest, and how cool is this old tree? Found the cache easily, and the lid was nearby. Signed log and left a smurf.
I saw some beautiful birds around here which I couldn't name, and saw a variety of other 'unknowns' throughout the day too, I may have to invest in some sort of bird ID book. TFTC GeoMonkeys!

Had a lovely stroll to find an amazing tree. Then, to my surprise, the container was a smaller version of the biscuit barrel we had when I was a kid. A real trip down memory lane! Oh, the treats we had......
After trecking the great walk south the numbers got smaller, now where could GZ be! A short search and we had CIH. A nice one to kick off the New Year.

We picked this one up after work. We follwed the Great North Walk Signs through a nice bit of bush and then came to a bit of a bigger track and saw GZ. Certain a specimen that has lasted time but a bit battle tired. A look from both sides and we found the hid of a little different type of container. We completed the signing duties and re hid, TFTC
Came down here on my way home from work. What a great cache container and hidey-hole. Loved it. Thank you so much for hiding this cache.

Found with the ClazzA team during our trek along the Great North Walk (GNW) from Mooney Mooney Creek to Somersby Store on a glorious early autumn day.
What a magnificent tree, it caught the attention of the whole group as we approached the turn in the GNW and we thought “this has to be the one!” And it was, we found the cache straightaway. Its lid was off and lying outside the hide but the container and its contents were in good order.
We signed the log, left a TB, secured the lid and pushed the cache a little further back into its burrow. Thanks GeoMonkeys.

A great old cache in an even older container. The gum is brilliant - big and covered in scribbles. There are a number of large black ants making sure you don't stay too long. Great spot. Thank you for the cache.
After a day on the Central Coast, just time to locate a cache. Nice walk along the track and then a quick find to end a great day. SL TFTC
Another short leg of the Great North Track done today. An overall easy find after a few minutes walk along an easy albeit soggy and muddy track after last nights small downpoor. Incredible old tree with live cavity. Might have to come from the south and Somersby Falls another day after a nice swim, just ti see the rest of the trail.

A lovely stroll amongst the many Scribbly Gums along this section of the Great North Walk.
A relatively quick find on a very hot day.
Dropped a TB and took a "Pink Ribbon" bracelet, which "Mrs Hunters & Collectors" will want to wear with pride.

A very pleasant walk through some loverly native bush. Excellent cache. Its a real shame that this area is mostly cleared and inaccessable due to private property, sand mines, industry etc..
Loved old scribbly. Had lots of fun as we took the trail to the cache with 3 yo shouting out "old scribbly's been here" as we saw signs of him along the way.

I had to come up to Peats Ridge for work today so I took the long way in and stopped for a couple of quickies on the way - 'caches that is", stopped at the bottom of the track and walked 300 odd M's to GZ, geez you were'nt kidding about knowing when I'd found it. I have'nt seen too many this size!
Thanks for showing it to us, it really is on the edge of the private property too, I was worried I'd have to negotiate the resident dogs as well. But all was quiet and I enjoyed a pleasant walk back to the car. Left a coin Thanks for the cache
