Ive just heard from the CO and I did work out the correct coordinates but was given the original ones (now wrong) even though the original container is still there. So good to know my IQ is ok after all.

I had 10 unfound/unsolved caches in the Minnippi Wetlands area, so recently solved the two puzzles and came out here today to find them all, walking about 8km and getting just a little bit muddy at one of them.Ive been wanting to find this series as Im needing quite a few more caches from 2004 for a challenge and there arent many in Brisbane. I did solve #4, though it took a few attempts, so I hoped this one wouldnt be too hard. I headed towards the wrong structure to start with so made hard work of it, bashing through lantana. But once at the posted coordinates, I quickly found the container, which ants are making a nest in, and decided which coordinates were the ones. I then found a much easier way out. I decided to contact a previous finder to confirm my coordinates to be on the safe side. She had something different to any of the options, so there must be another calculation, so I failed that part of the IQ test. At least what I had wasnt far from the real gz.At gz, I wandered around for a short time and found the rusty container with original logbook about 16m out. Logbook signed and replaced as found. Considering its age, it is in pretty good nick, even with the rusted holes. Tftc

Today i had a plan to come out this way with my E bike and discover the bike tracks while collecting smileys. All up i found 16 caches in only just over 2 hours and had a great ride . I have had this cache on my to do list for a long time and was worried my IQ would not help today. But i had gathered the info needed and headed to GZ . The path i took had long grass but still a path and still ok with my bike. Then i hit a nice path and had a fun ride to GZ. I looked around for a little while and then i spotted the hide out in the open. The ants are loving it but the cache is in great condition. I really enjoyed this cache. Thanks for all the fun

Having had an enjoyable morning event followed by a trail of new caches found, it was time to find a few more before we all parted ways. This one has been on my to-do list for quite some time and finally got the opportunity to come with geo friends to find it. Thank you, Manta (Maintenance by Rogainer), for this good puzzle and hide

21/6/2023 Find #6181
Wednesday Madness. The last one of term. And I’m flying solo today. So I choose to head over to the Southside for a few more older caches.
I started this series an eternity ago, and with one off the list, never got back for any more. Today I decided I was going to change that, and was keen for some easy walking as my back has been giving me grief, hoping it might stretch it out a bit.
Well my spacial awareness is apparently still good, with what I was sure was the correct set of coordinates (but a photo of the clue just in case I got it wrong), I headed to “my GZ”. I was certainly feeling warm now, but headed in and quickly found the container. Extraction of said cache container proved more of a challenge and I did kind of wish I had another set of hands to help me. Then with that achieved I forgot to change the date on my new stamp and made a real motza of it! Info taken, I headed back towards the car with the back feeling rather good at this stage.
Thanks for the cache and keeping it going Manta, Rogainer and Beardman75.

I have been wanting to do the IQ series for a while now so made it my main target for the rest of the day.

I made the walk to the first wp much harder than it needed to be and ended up crawling under some foliage. The puzzle didn’t take too long to work out and I found a much nicer way to GZ.
It took a while to extract the cache from its hidey hole but after a bit of pulling I had it free and could sign the log.

Replaced everything and went to leave only to remember the extra clues for the final! Managed to get it out easier this time and noted the clues.

Tftc Manta and Rogainer and thanks for keeping this series alive Beardman75.

I was on the Southside delivery parcels. I was having a short break. Is there any caches around, of course yes.
I quickly found the cache.

Found with Peppa. On our first visit here we looked and looked with no luck. After Maintenance by the CO it was a much easier find. Gosh, those beasties that chew trees really can make quick work of something so big.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintenance. I'll have to bring Catboy67 back to check out the tracks

After looking high and low previously this was a great high to get the find!!
Thanks to Peppa for getting into the nitty gritty for us and finding GZ and finally the cache.
Out with PirateLinda and Peppa and 2MT

We I started to think about where to go today I remembered this oldie… so it became my main target… being school holidays I thought there might be more people around, but we were able to walk in I unseen…

Well this GZ hasn’t changed much since our last visit… the tools are still there, mustn’t be much demand for illegal bike tracks here at the moment…

It’s hard to miss the COs excavations… a nicely stocked cache once I got it out…

Tftc…

02-Apr-22
After the recent DNF, I came to check on this and it seems that the ants have been busy eating the inside of the tree which then collapsed burying the cache container.

Using a nearby shovel from the illegal track building in the area, I was able to dig it up and have placed it in the log right next to the tree. It is still in perfect condition.

Happy caching

04-Feb-22
With a really random selection of caches for the day, the usual Friday suspects and I are making our way from Salisbury to Lota and this oldie was only a small detour…

With no clear geotrail I high stepped my way to the posted co-ordinates… thanks to modern technology I was able to share what I found with the others before high stepping back to the group…

A group collaboration and we set off to our calculated GZ… here we went round and round for ages… we sent a PAF to Willis007, and even resorted to contacting the CO…

It appears we may have needed to excavate rather than just dig a little… even though there were a couple of shovels close by thanks to the illegal construction…

Obviously as one of Queensland’s oldest 100 caches we’ll be back…

Today I am hoping to complete the Oldest and Finest Challenge. I was out this way yesterday so called in to find the info I needed. After completing my homework last night I headed back this morning to find the final.
Thanks Manta and Beardman75 for keeping this oldie going.

After attending the CITO, Mr CuriousQuest and I headed off to find a few caches. Back in 2016, I had found the waypoint for this cache, but had not had time to head to the final on that day. I haven't been in the area since. We headed to the final that I had in my phone. We searched and searched without luck. Then I read some previous logs and dthat the cache had been moved. We headed back to the waypoint and solved the new field puzzle which gave us new location for the final. We retraced some of our steps and, before long, arrived at the new final location. There, the cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

A lovely day out with Selva Girls . A quick find was made here. We signed the log and replace the cache as found. TFTC

12-Jun-21
Today, it was a fun filled day with the morning consisting of a visit to Coochiemudlo Island, and in the afternoon, georode and I went tree fishing and completed a few field puzzles targeting the oldie *IQ* series.
Following my attendance at Cleveland parkrun, I joined a few fellow Geocachers with a ferry over to the island, taking our bikes to sightsee around. It was an enjoyable event and cycle around seeing a few quirky houses and pleasant scenery at the bay's edge.
In the afternoon, a small group completed a few geocaches in Victoria Point, before georode and I headed to Alexandra Hills. That particular tree fishing geocache cluster took longer than anticipated, and we closed out the day with a visit to Minnippi Wetlands.

There didn't appear to be any easy path or geotrail that we saw from the tracks to the posted coordinates, so in the end, georode and I needed to forge our own path in. We soon found the clue, and we thought it was a fun field puzzle to work through, and we both independently came to the same solution. Consequently, it was only a short walk to GZ, where the cache was found reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Manta for the cache placement, and Rogainer and Beardman75 for its ongoing maintenance.

It was great to have found another oldie cache hidden in 03/2004, and one of Queensland's 500 oldest and active geocaches!

Escaping the rat race & other obligations to go roving with. First cab off the rank is the closest IQ. Having solved the original waypoint we headed off to the GZ. Hard to find after more than a wee while went caving & finally uncovered the cache. We signed & returned it to the location with less detritus upon it making it more an appropriate difficulty.

Second cache for the afternoon. Rolled through the gates after 5pm, relieved to see that they do not lock before 7pm.
A bit of criss cross to the the first WP.
Despite the mozzies I soon worked out a possible final, I thought.
Walked straight up to the hide, happy to see the camouflage.
Signings duties completed and made it out before closing time.
Thank you for hiding this geocache

To continue my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day and with the excitement of the IQ series almost ending for me I was back over the southside to grab this one. With only a few hours off from work it was a drive over to the bridge to continue my two little challenges. It turned out I only had time for this one and a possible trad as I was passing by in the area as my targets for the day.

I had contacted the new CO and asked a few questions to this one as I had the old finals, yet never collected. He informed me that I would have to do the puzzle again to find the new coordinates, and I’m glad I did, what a fantastic puzzle. With a new set of coordinates I set off this time to collect. Getting closer to GZ an odour of decaying animal soon hit me, pushing on I reached GZ to find my prize sooo happy with this find , a field puzzle completed and a reward to boot.
A really well thought out puzzle with an old burnt out rusty cache, love it, favourite point from me. With the log signed and cache replaced as found I was heading to my trad before heading home.

Just to be clear, the final was recently moved to a new location. If you have previously obtained the final coordinates, you will need to revisit the waypoint and redo the field puzzle to obtain the new coordinates

Beardman75. Thanks for stepping up to maintain and keep this great puzzle Field puzzle cache alive.
At the first waypoint, we were very happy to see such a lovely clear puzzle.
We have always enjoyed this type of puzzle and with a bit of thinking and standing on our heads and to the side, we thought we had what was needed. Turns out we were correct and we took a walk where we found a lovely large container in the bush, well hidden.
We collected a clue at GZ which will hopefully help us for a future find.
Thanks

Cache 20 of 20 today! I was on the southside of town, generally hunting QLD's oldest 100 or oldest 500 caches (with a few slipping into the list because they were so close, or filled in a DT hole).

After a very stressful week of work, it was good to expend some energy, push my lungs a bit harder, and suck in some fresh air. GZ is beautiful, as to be expected, and I really enjoyed the walk and solitude.

This is my all time favourite kind of cache - it's old, it's a puzzle, and it's got an ammo tin in the bush at the end!

TB visit.

Shouldn't be signing off this log!! Did an incorrect and basic GPS input error and took the group for a lovely walk to Bulimba Creek and realised the final is not in the middle of the houses. My IQ can't be blamed for alcohol consumption this time.

A brief look at my notes and had some random numbers jotted down that put us some 750m further away than where we started while on CITO duties. Thanks to all and now Rogainer for maintaining this oldie. Still a few more in the series to ponder over and hopefully collect!!

Another of the IQ series put to bed! It now has a much cleaner path to it courtesy of todays CITO.

Tuesday. Slow Puncture are chasing some older caches and this one was in the area we’d picked this morning. We made our way to the first WP and after a reasonable search, read previous logs and then realised we’d have to PAF a previous finder. Thank goodness for previous finders! We have arranged for a fair trade and then the hunt was on. We managed to find ourselves chest height in very brown, crunchy and dehydrated grass due to the severe drought and 4 days of cyclonic winds. We made our way to GZ and then the hunt started. Our arrow was doing its usual impression of the Bermuda Triangle and so we resorted to geoeyes after wandering around lost tribesmen.

After a few seconds of putting the phone down, I called out to Mr SP that I spotted the cache from where I was standing. With log signing duties completed we took photos and jotted down the details just to make sure. Nice to grab this one as it was a bit of a surprise cache that we had on our to-do list but hadn’t actually got around to getting until we plotted an area this morning. We had a good look at a nearby ditched car which was truly done and dusted except for the chrome – it just lasts forever and stays shiny regardless of any deterioration going on around it.

This was the 1st of 6 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***Rogainer***, for showing us this place. Smile

I have been interested in this series of caches for quite some time but just never started working on them. While finding caches during the Streak Week souvenir challenge, I looked at IQ Spellbound which is close to home. I visited the WP and worked on the puzzle in the field but couldn't get coords that were close . So after an overnight google session, I returned the next day to find the final cache .
So while I was in the area today, I was keen to have a go at this one. I located the info sheet at WP1 but it is illegible due to water damage, so resorted to a PAF (like everyone else has done) to give me the final coords.
Easy walk to GZ and located the cache quickly. SL, took note of the clue then returned as found.

Would be very interested to see what the puzzle actually was. If a previous finder with a clear copy of the sheet, I would be happy to replicate it and put it back into the first WP.

Another on the list and with a bit more time decided to try our luck. Like others we had to resort to a PAF due to condition and then it was off to GZ. Great to find an ammo can and more clues. TFTC.

Having done my research like any good Rhode Scholar on the jungle juice, I knew the puzzle for this cache might be faded. I still had to see for myself and no amount of wine would have made it legible. PAF me, it’s time for a PAF.

Thankfully the lovely Imbunda came to the rescue provided I retrieved the hint for her. Sounds like a fair trade because all is fair in love and war, unless that war is with your wife.

I followed some trails and just when I was closing in on GZ, crossed paths with a dude walking around in full camo gear. I had to wonder what this dude was up to or what arsenal he was hiding. I tried to say hello but he just kept walking. I think he was surprised that his full military outfit made him visible to the enemy. I waited a while for him to continue on before diving in to make the grab. Hopefully I can make it back to the car without being shot. tftc

I have tried this one a few times before, clambering through grass that is way over my head and not getting my WP1 information correct. I notice that it is too hard to read so waa unable to solve so I reverted to a PAF. Vital information received that would take me to GZ. Nice walk along this track until I had to go bush and wow a nice cache was waiting for me. Signed the log and replaced in the cache and bugger forgot to get the clue out of it. Will have to return again to do that but I need to get the time. Luckily for me this cache gave me 313 unloved days. TFTC

I have been wanting to do this series since I first spied them almost two years ago - but it was never the right time for me to head south of the river with time to spare. But today, today was the day to target these conundrums. I packed water, a hat and sunscreen, my laptop - and a Fangsoki just to be sure, and ventured over the bridge.

First stop was here. The day was still very young - but man are there muggles about. Good thing posted GZ was off-screen, stage left. In a quiet space whith noone watching. Wink In the new relative quiet the container was quickly uncovered, and revealed ... well. Not much actually.Twisted Sadly the sheet was unreadable. Hmmm.

I came prepared for this. I packed the correct Tool of the Trade Razz, and so was quickly on my way to a new GZ. It wasn't too long before we could head into the bush, dodging around a million spider webs (and one or two with mum still at home). It was a geospatial puzzle in itself finding a web-free path to and around where the GPSr wanted me to be, but I got there for a nice find. And new info.

Now. The missing puzzle. May have eluded me on this day - but I wasn't done. Another trick up my sleeve is Crew 153 - with access to the puzzle sheet. Suitably provided I have returned to my laptop (albeit now in the comfort of my home and with a nice cheeky Moscato) and with some head twisting and temptingly going cross eyed I have unravelled the solution. I rest easy.

Thanks for placing this cache, Manta (Maintenance by Rogainer). Found in good condition.

A day was planned out on the dark side, and what better spot to start from than the Minnippi Parklands. On the way through the park, a stop was made here.

The first WP was easy enough to locate. I wasn't sure what I'd find, but at first glance the puzzle didn't seem too difficult for my way of thinking. Only problem is that the sheet has gotten wet at some stage and the ink has bled, making it very difficult to read.

I pieced it together and quickly came up with a solution, but when I punched the numbers into c:Geo I could see there was another cache too close, so it couldn't be correct. Back to the drawing board and my next try looked better. Urrgh, I just rode past there Sad. Oh well back on the treadly.

Once at GZ it was a quick find. Managed to inflict pain on my eye on a branch on the way back, scratching the cornea but it soon improved.

Great adventure, thanks for keeping it alive.

Today I had a couple of hours to myself and wanted to take the dog for a walk. I had solved this a while back when completing the series of caches nearby and now was working on the ones in the other park. A nice sized and safe positioned cache and I took a note of the clue. TFTC Rogainer

FINALLY! Getting my act together to catch up on un-logged caches so my stats are correct for the Alice event. Met up with a friendly group of cachers for a day of exploring this precious piece of parkland and bush. Really enjoyed caching with the mob and thank you to the C.O.'s for their efforts in putting the caches out here. It is a pity that some have been archived because of the actions of a minority as these caches were part of a good tour of this area.
Finding the puzzle sheet was easy but solving it was tricky because the sheet had gotten damp even though it was laminated so the ink had run away making it hard to see what we needed for the final coords. Many heads together came up with the solution and after that it was a quick find and sign before heading back to picnic shelter for a quick lunch. TFTC Smilex

Mrs Just a Trifle was out caching with Crew 153 and a bunch of other caching teams in the Minnippi Parklands area. We made our way to waypoint 1 and after just managing to decipher the information, plotted the various options to decide where to head to next. Fortunately, we chose well and the cache was soon in hand.

Thank you Rogainer for maintaining the cache for everyone to find and enjoy.

This was an adventure! Went through the high grass to get to the puzzle. The puzzle was unreadable so we decided to look where all the locations are and decided to go to one of them. So lucky to find the cache on this spot! Owner should maybe replace the puzzle paper so that other people can actually solve the quiz.

Up from NSW to do a group assault on caches in this area and I am keen to follow up part Multis/Puzzles I have done while living in Qld. The laminated picture is now unreadable (tried from pics in many programs since coming home) but we went with gut instinct and we bought it home for our group, now to do the rest of the series. A group of Eleven Intrepid Geocachers met today to conquer the Vennfamily geocaches recently placed around the Minnippi Parklands.

Well, having completed the series, we had this one on the radar as well. We had completed the IQ3 puzzle early last year, and sort of guessed what we might expect here. No surprises at GZ for the first waypoint. We did however, have an issue with the contents. The damp and the heat have made the puzzle almost unreadable - especially the actual graphic part. None of us could work out what the dots were. So we put all the coordinates into the c:geo app on Nadine1989's Samsung and had a look at where they were. Some looked possible, others looked dodgy. Which was the correct one? Crew153 had been here some eighteen months or so months ago, when the puzzle was readable, and his memory gave him a gut feeling that it was "that way". We read another log description which matched where that was, so off we went, led by Nadine1989 who eventually found the cache. What a wonderful stash for the kids! Razz

Note: Perhaps better weather may dry the puzzle out a bit for future cachers, giving them a better opportunity at having fun with the puzzle. Better that then fun we had, anyway! Big Grin

We now have another clue for the IQ Finale - I hope it will be clearer then than it is now! Red Face

Found the first waypoint at 12.20pm. Found the final cache at 12.40pm on 11th May 2016. TFTC

Went to WP1 but the group split and I went with the group that didn't end up physically at the cache location. Keen to find it though as they say it is big (Yeah -I'm over bush micro's!). I'll be back another day to finish this one off.

I've been meaning to check this cache out for a while now but have been putting it off because I thought it would require some time devoted to it (and also because I was a little bit afraid of snakes in the long grass). Today I found myself nearby and decided to go for it. It took me a few tries to get to the puzzle because of the aforementioned snakes and long grass. Once there, I solved the puzzle in a jiffy and, taking a photo of it just in case, began picking my way back out through the long grass. The trip to GZ was a short jog alongside the motorway before heading bush. The ammo can was in hand quite quickly and another puzzle cache chalked up. TFTC Manta and Rogainer

Barbb and I were out on another Thursday caching adventure and this was my favourite cache of the day. I haven't done a lot of mystery caches that have field puzzles and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was getting really hot, but we headed off any way through the very long grass. I was feeling pretty nervous about scaly friends, but luckily we only had to fight off the THOUSANDS of cobblers pegs Big Grin Barbb found the field puzzle and we looked at the puzzle and then at each other, 'we can do this no worries!'. It was with great excitement that we came up with the same answer. Woo hoo! Off to the final we walked, having a chat and as usual nearly walked past GZ, LOL! Barb and I both pointed to the same spot and lo and behold there was the cache, awesome! TFTC Manta and Rogainer - can't wait to look for the others in the IQ Series Smile

Out for a day today picking up some solved puzzles and other higher difficulty caches along the way. With 3 other IQ caches under my belt this one was a must do for today. I made my way to the first WP and was glad it was not the height of summer lest I come across a slithery critter in amongst the long grass. Found the container there and evicted the large number of ants that had made it there home. I might have trouble fitting the car between the lines in a car park but my spatial perception for this cache was up to the task and I was able to find the final cache first go. I noticed a track passing nearby and was interested where it went but with time running short I headed back the way I came in. TFTC

Ok, this was the second of the IQ series for today and the fourth overall, so I was slowly nearing my goal of IQ5 but was also a bit nervous of what would be required to actually finish the series. So once I found a good place to park I set off in a direction that seemed to be appropriate for my task but totally at odds with the (muggles') consensus of what were generally appropriate directions in which to "set off" in this park! Actually I quite liked the way that this park was being enjoyed by people of all ages and interests on this beautiful morning.

Getting to WP1 was a challenge in itself due to monstrously high grass and surprisingly wet ground! You guys must have had a lot of rain lately down here. I walked around looking for the best way in but ended up going back out the most direct way because there is no best way after all! I also disturbed a fairly large goanna which gave me a bit of a start. The information was photographed for analysis and all replaced as found. The contents here were a bit damp but still readable.

After confirming the GZ coordinates I headed off in a certain direction which involved a lot of spider webs, probably because the last person to walk this way was the previous finder of the cache! I had to disturb a colony of insects to retrieve the cache but of course this container keeps the contents in pristine condition so no harm done. I chose a different route back and it was much easier - unexpectedly I even met a muggle coming the other way, she must have been lost!

Thanks again Rogainer, now to do some playing on the computer!

Out and about for a few Puzzle caches today with fellow Brainiac CrookedPete, and we had flagged the IQ Series as an interesting challenge. CP had already collected this one, and so he left me to my own devices while he found some other cache in the area.
I approached GZ as if I was in the land of the Giants TV show, and really grateful that I had brought a walking stick with me to avoid some of the unseen drops in the area. A quick find at the waypoint and I had a set of coordinates that looked good. Off to GZ and I quickly found the container! Phew! Off to a good start!
Great spot for a cache.
Thanks Manta and Rogainer.

Not sure what I'm getting wrong. If I ever found this one I'm going the cross check the logs. As I've spend a long time looking.

Last find on the public holiday Monday before I headed for home. Was a big day on the IQ series and I thoroughly enjoyed myself being brought to these new areas I have never explored before.
Have clue for final.

Courtesy of a crooked kids birthday and a new fangled trampoline centre not far away, I found myself very close to the area today.

So, whilst the kids bounced on the tramps, I bounced out for a quick ninja cache and soon found my way along to my calculated GZ. The generous container was quickly found, logbook signed and clue recorded. In no time at all, I was back watching half a dozen 11 year old doing somersaults on trampolines.

Thanks for the cache, Rogainer.

This morning, my son Tom and I, took a short stomp through the long grass to collect the first part of this cache. Just as I got the container in my hand, I took a phone call, which necessitated running into my work for a while.

So plans for final have been delayed. I solved the puzzle before returning it back to the container. Also took a photo to double check my answer! Will be back to collect the cache soon.

Headed out not far from home to an old favourite park for Picnic and play. Good to see lots of people enjoying the beautiful Brisbane winter. Found the puzzle, solved it over a sandwich and headed back out with geokids and geodogs to find the cache. Our first IQ puzzle successfully completed. Looking forward to finding the rest. TFTC

After finding four other caches in the area I had intended locating this one and photographing the clue sheet.
I still recall unpleasant memories in sorting out IQ 1.

However after recording, Geo wife and self thought this can't be too hard can it!
Decided we had the answer so may as well save a trip and check our hunch out.

Yep Gotcha in one. Waypoint dry and clue sheet legible. Cache and contents dry, took Whitsunday TB...IQ 3 here we come... TFTC

Back again to head out and find the cache after solving the IQ test. Rolled the dice and trudged off to the cache after pausing to watch those magnificent men and their flying machines. Cache found in good order, log signed and TB deposited. Thanks

Found the puzzle today but did not have time to go for the cache. The puzzle sheet is showing signs of being wet but is still legible. Will have to come back another day.

It's a funny felling isn't it? Wandering off to a final location not sure if you have the answer right or not. I checked my working using a docket in my wallet but I still wasn't 'sure'. Anyway, turns out I was right Smile I took all the easy options in wandering to the puzzle & prize as I'm in my work garb. Need to make sure all the cobblers pegs are picked off before I get back to the office! Thanks Rogainer for keeping this neat puzzle alive... I just realised that I didn't get the clue for the final for the last IQ puzzle.... Guess I will just have to go back.

Cheers

After this morning's move on IQ3, this was the last piece of information that I needed to get started working on IQ5. So I thought why not make the short trip over here and get that bit of information.

Luckily I had a little help in that I might have got the information from the posted coords before arriving. It was I think the quickest solve for me as well, A short look at each of the pieces of information and I was able to determine the correct answer.

Took the nice walk in and picked up the required information without to much trouble. Surprised things are still good inside considering that it looks like burning off has left the tin covered in black and evidence of being wet, but the inside is fine.

TFTC, off to seek that final if I can get everything to work.

Out for a day of caching with IolantheK.

IolantheK had suggested this one if we had time. Reading the description I wasn't real sure, but as we had made good time with the earlier caches, why not.

WP1 and we sat down to work out the co-ords. I tried in my head and IolantheK completed it craft like to confirm my choice.

Co-ords entered and head off to final.

Clue noted, log signed and cache replaced.

Out and about with fasted59 today Big Grin When he sent me the proposed list last night I had a look in the area and realised we would be right near this one [^] It got added to the list for if we had time.

Our efforts this morning were quite speedy, so we took the walk to WP1, and although the tall grass gave us some grief, we made the find. At first glance of the clue I was rather pleased as I've done this type of puzzle before Cool fasted was able to solve it in his head, but I liked the idea of building the puzzle and got my origami skills a-happening Wink Yep, we agree! And those co-ords will do nicely. Another little walk later and we reached GZ, and the cache was a quick find. Made a note of the clue, and now I can attempt the final in the series, as I have done the first 4. Woohoo! TFTC, Rogainer.

On a rather wet day, I managed to persuade Tinda13 to come for a trip and let him choose where he went. He opted for the IQ series, which worked for me.
I had never been to this part of the Minippi, and was pretty impressed by the birdlife and everything around.
A short, sloshy walk and I managed to go straight to WP1 - a good start. Tinda13 then managed to bust the IQ test within about a minute - but then, he laps these things up.
Off we went through more mud, then plenty of spiderwebs, before opening the well-preserved cache where everything was cool. I dropped in another silica capsule to assist with moisture, and we duly took a photo of the clue. All fine here so TFTC!

Taking a POETS day with Ghostgums to rack up a few numbers

This is the fourth time i have been here to attempt this cache but have been beaten by construction zone traffic all other times - thankfully now all done..

Headed in to cache and after a pleasant stroll arrived at GZ and headed into the cache - after a brief search located the container.

> signed log
> collected final clue I was missing

Had actually susssed out (with a couple of prompts) and found number 5 when Gunnie made his 4,000th find so can now log that as well...

Australia Day Big Grin One of my favourite days of the year. But seeing as it had mostly been washed out and there wasn't too many BBQs to go to, what a perfect day to go caching. The rain had subsided to just a fine drizzle in the morning and I took this opportunity to find one or two caches. Seeing as the Captain had no plans he decided to join me. Always handy to have a previous finder tag along just in case. Also to deter any strange men like Ms Maddy described in her visit here Surprised

While waiting for the Captain to arrive, I took time out to sit by the lake and enjoy the company of the birds. What a lovely area! Once the Captain had finally arrived we headed for WP1 which is now very overgrown again, with not to much evidence that there was a fire. I found what I was looking for and quickly got to solving what needed solving. A double check with the Captain to make sure I was right and we headed to our next location.

At GZ I was very happy to find a a lovely little hive of Stingless Bees. They are so very cute and stingless! Just the way I like my outdoors friends. The cache was found easily enough after marvelling upon the bees. Happy to make this a smiley.

Well they don't call him Rogainer for nothing!

My fantasy of a stroll around a manicured pond brimming with water lillies and cavorting ducks, soon turned to dust.

There was no one around but a couple with kiddies on bikes so I made my way quickly to WP1. Grabbed a stick to battle the grass which was waving over my head for the last few metres. Great container and nice to see I'm not the only one out there recycling the objects at either end Razz really well constructed WP.

Took a couple of pics of the clue with the dumbphone. Good thing I didn't leave it in the car!

Wandered back to the park and found a table under a shady tree to tease out the coords. Decided not to wake up my tired, hot, thirsty brain cells and resorted to arts and craft to solve the puzzle Wink Hey it worked!

About this time I looked up towards the pavement and noticed a man behaving strangely. He was near the track leading to WP1. He seemed to be way too interested in what I was doing which was nothing really. Sitting in the shade fiddling with a notebook. After a while he, um, vanished.

I plugged in the (correct) coords and let the gpsr lead me off down the path. As I passed the track to the left, I noticed the man standing partway down there. Again, he seemed interested in me ... or in making sure I wasn't interested in him ... hmm. He turned away down the track and I sprinted off.

Shortly the gpsr took me out of sight of anyone out for a stroll.

After about 15mins of clearing the cobwebs, ducking under a swarm of midges, and evading a huge orange wasp (had a wasp sting last weekend and still healing), I found a generous cache. All clean and dry here.

Yup it is indeed a really cool place for a cache and happy to give it a FAVE point for the fun of this little field puzzle and finishing my caching day off on a sweet note Smile

I reached Sooty the cachemobile and turned on the air con. Then glanced to the side and noticed the mystery man (still holding a water bottle) walking towards me. Backed out and left the park. If he reads this, then I'd be interested in knowing who you are and why you didn't say hi? Perhaps it was just a random stalker ... oh well!

Lovely part of the wetlands, TFTC Rogainer Big Grin

Up at the near by park for a extended family Christmas get together so when all the festivities died down Geo Mum & I (Geo Dad) headed off for WP1.

It was a bit of a search (Geo Mum who didn't have full footware on had given me encouragement from the path), but I realised after I had searched for a while that I may have actually spotted then dismissed the hide and sure enough I had the clues in hand.

We decided at that point to head back to our group so I could work on the problem.

It had me going for a few minutes then I worked out a plan to ensure a solution was found and a few minutes more I was sure I had the final coords in hand.

Another break in celebration and I was off to my calculated GZ (Geo Mum still had the wrong footware on).

It was a hot day but a pleasant walk to the final position and after a short search I spotted GZ and had the cache in hand.

I was so intent on ensuring I wrote down the clues that I even forgot to look at the contents but all seemed fine.

It was very pleasing to see that my old brain was able to work out the problem first go and another smiley for the map.

Found the first part of this some time back.
I worked it out and checked on google maps.

Today 12/12/12 I decided to finish it off.
As i neared the site I found I had not put the way point in the gps.

Had a quick look around and remembered I took a photo of the clue on the phone.

Worked it out again and soon had the cache. tftc

I decided today was as good as any to head out and grab another from this series. After a morning storm I headed out, having checked out the best parking. I arrived and set off with my GPS, not knowing what horrific puzzle awaited me at the co-ords. I was most impressed with how lovely this park is, having not been here before. As I got close to the waypoint, I saw what Fangsoki meant about the bushfire. However, some greenery is returning. I quickly spotted the waypoint and had a chuckle at it's good luck and resulting condition. It sure took one for the team, coming very close to being incinerated. However it's innards are in reasonble condition.

I took a seat on a nice patch of dirt and read the puzzle. Ah, good as, I've always been good at these type of things. I sat and examined each option, hoping to get it all right first round. I picked the best answer, sorted out the co-ords and set off. The final co-ords looked good on the map. I replaced the waypoint and covered over to help hide it a bit. I followed a track for a while, including almost going A over T in a muddy patch. The final stretch of the walk was an interesting perspective. A little bush bash and I soon spotted the hide. I opened it up and was impressed with my mental agility at getting this one so easily and quickly. The contents here are all good and it now has my name in the book. I made sure to record the clue and rehid as found. I decided to take a different track out and ended up taking my time to enjoy this beautiful area. I don't know how but I came out nowhere near where I thought I would and ended up going over a bridge and seeing a canoe ramp.

Very glad to have another one ticked off this series, one step closer. And a marvellous area for it. I think I'll give you a favourite point. TFTC Manta and Rogainer Smile
