Not sure how to log a virtual cache from an owner whose account is disabled, but gehschei found the word today and can provide the answer whenever needed. Horn was very happy about that, thanks!
Found together with Zouave, slightly away from the original coordinates. The top of the island is quite lovely, with some historic houses, gardens and impressive trees. TFTC!
#24902. We had to widen our search to find the plinth. Lots of interesting convict history here. Troodles sent answers on behalf of us both. TFTC.
StreetWalkerNZ and I arrived in Sydney last night, and the plan was to visit Cockatoo Island this trip. The forecast was for warm weather so we decided to head out after breakfast while it was still cool.We headed to GZ, to find a circle of pavers within a graveled courtyard, but no plinth. Retreated to a shady seat (the courtyard was in full blazing sun) and consulted photos in past logs. Saw what the plinth looked like, and looked around then spotted it not far away. Answer sent to CO on behalf of StreetWalkerNZ and myself. TFTC.
I am guessing as I am at gz that I have found the plinth. Potentially the original was moved as there is nothing else in the courtyard than the gravel and circle
We came to escape the crowds in the city and weren't disappointed - loved the tunnel and the old convict ruins. What a miserable life they must have had!
TFTV and what a lovely Plinth. Ive enjoyed walking around this island and learning its history.
Found today with Calypso62 & techsavvy9. Such a beautiful spot for a virtual cache. Answer sent to CO
Really interesting walk around the island and through the 2 tunnels. Sent the answer to the CO.
After a rainy start to the day, the afternoon produced glorious sunshine which was perfect for our trip to Cockatoo Island. We caught the ferry from Barangaroo & were soon on the island. This was my next stop & I was keen to visit this one as my 180th Virtual cache, giving me my diamond gemstone on *Project-GC*. I had no difficulty finding the answer to the question & have already sent this to the CO. I've also attached a photo as further evidence of my visit & dipped my *Horses Around the World* geocoin which only visits caches older than 20 years.Found at 15:00Cache #10481TFTC Oplismenus
Loved the history of this location! Mountainbeyond sent the answer in on behalf of the team. TFTC Oplismenus!
We had a spectacular morning exploring Cockatoo Island. Answer here obtained and sent to CO. Thanks!

This island is a very special place for me, mainly due to lots of spooky unexplained things which have changed me forever.TFTC!
10:00Cold & wet? Yes! but a ferry fun day out and about around Sydney with fellow Victorians - long time caching buddies Suscoe. The ghosts assured us we docked in the correct area today.A BIG thank you to %Name who placed this Virtual cache.37108
We visited Cockatoo island this morning, We got there early and had the place pretty much to ourselves. We met another group who were caching too.We enjoyed the wlak to PLinth and have sent the CO our answer. Thanks to Oplismenus for this virtual. An amazing place to explore.A favourite from us.
For some reason I was looking for a grand high note plinth with a statue on it or similar rather than what was found.Answer sent. TFTC
Took me ages to find the plinth! Turns out I had walked straight past it at the top of the hill . Had a great time exploring cockatoo island - all over. Above, around, and even through it! Learnt something new by visiting here. Thanks for placing this cache 20 years ago.
A great virtual. Add FPThe Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 8. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)
A very enjoyable visit to the island. Thank you for making me find out what the word means! TFTC!!
Visiting from the US, specifically Ohio on a grand adventure leading up to the Capital Geobash. Spending the day today exploring Sydney. Started with riding the train to central and then walked towards the harbour and opera house. Took a side trip out to cockatoo to explore a bit. Thanks for the cache.
This was a neat area of history to explore. Took some searching for the plinth but found it. Its a beautiful day to explore Sydney! Thanks for the cache. Answer has been sent.
Visiting Sydney with a muggle friend to see Pink. Was decided to do some sight seeing and we both have never been to Cockatoo Island before. Arriving an hour before the tour had time to grab some caches. Relying on other logs and photos Plinth found and answer sent to CO.TFTC
Together with 37 Cachers, we start a journey to Australia and New Zealand via Doha.In Qatar we spent one night and had almost one full day before heading to Sydney. In Australia we visit the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Cairns. In New Zealand will be Aukland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. To safe Logbook space, we signed the logbooks with our team-name "DownUnder24".Our Teammembers are:\_gc_, AmoebeST, AndyausDu, B@cker-1, Biggidag, Brummelbren, CacheTaucher, cooljo, Fotopinguin, Freizeit-Tina, Gazelle5111, GEO Karen, GoanToni, Hfi1, hupsi-1, karrai*, Leilah03, lenny love, Lupus54, Maxipimpf, muschel3, Ollilein, Opaundenkel, penalty96, Rheins, Simowl, sozioma, Sr. Elli, Team Zyanor, viko76, Webmasterrollerin, Whlhase, XenSuoThank you for the Cache.
Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia ???? and New Zealand ???? for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar ????.We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien ???? und Neuseeland ????.

Departure day in New Zealand ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary country and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. Now I had the chance to join a large group of mainly German geocachers and I was delighted to take it. After a stopover in Qatar and 8 days in Australia, our journey continued from Auckland to Queenstown with various stopovers.**We also had a stopover in Sydney on the return flight, giving us eight hours. What do geocachers do when the opportunity arises? Go caching, of course ??. We grabbed an Uber to a pier and took the ferry to Cockatoo Island. Wow, fantastic ??. There was so much to see. Too bad we had so little time. I would have loved to stay here longer, but we were only able to get a few impressions, look for a few caches and take photos. I sent my answer to the owner via message center.**Thanks for laying & taking care . Abreisetag in Neuseeland ??.

Between flights from the nearby airport, we used the time to visit this island. In hindsight, this was a very good idea, as there were many exciting things to discover here. An event was also due to take place today. Unfortunately without us. The journey home is getting closer."Plinth" was our main destination on this interesting island. We were able to find the necessary information quickly. The response was sent to the owners by Fotopinguin. Good D/T rating! Thanks Oplismenus
Between two flights on the way home a few caches were found. Thank you for showing me. Greetings from Germany, muschel3
Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. TFTC sagt keeiner
Catching up on the last of our unlogged viruals and earth caches from our four day visit down to Sydney last week. Any answers, if required, have been sent via message. As others have mentioned the plinth has been moved a bit, but is still close enough to coords to locate without issue. Thanks for the virtual cache
**XX** MMMMMMMCM: Our final cruise stop in Sydney. We anchored out in the harbor until we could dock in Circular Quay this evening. Took a ferry to Cockatoo Island for a tour. As other have noted, the plinth has been moved from its original location, but not too far away. Located after a short search. Answer sent. TFTC
Found with Blue Jay while on our stay in Sydney before heading to New Zealand. Answer sent by Blue Jay for both of us. TFTC. Toffee Man.
Greetings from Ireland Great fun on the island Thanks for showing us this place, & for placing and maintaining this cache. The is our playground
Had a bit of trouble in finding the correct word, but managed it in the end. A great place to visit. TFTC
We found Plinth on an island wander day.Navigating to GZ was relatively easy, finding the answer, a little harderNevertheless we eventually found what we think we were looking for and hope our answer passes muster Thanks Oplismenus for hiding this cache so that we could come and enjoy ourselves
Answer to question has been sent, pretty sure the 'Plinth' has been shifted from the centre of the forecourt to one of the entry points outside, still locateable though.Onto the next part of our day, first time out and about on the much discussed Stdney ferries. A two-pronged approach here, we headed in and out to Manly first then headed off to Cockatoo Island to see what that had to offer. Nice to be out exploring in this wonderful weather.Todays geocaching exploits were only two-fold. First up was my early morning 4A out and about from 0600 until Ive found a couple and walked 5 or 6 kms. Then after mrs c and I head out for the day we headed to Manly first in the ferry, then a later trip out to Cockatoo Island for their treats. As ever, thanks to all CO s for their efforts.
Thanks for the cache Oplismenus. I circled the island for the trads and others, and despite this one suggesting the tour, I thoughtI would have a look anyway. I stood at the centre of the building walls on the ring of stones, and wondered what I was missing. Seeing that the cache had moved, I searched all the nearby rooms, buildings and vista viewing points and finally found a monument that could qualify as the plinth. It had just one word on it, so I am going with that. Thanks for the virtual, this island has some amazing history.
Spent about a half an hour, looking in all the wrong places, and then we widened our search perimeter away from the coordinates and found it. It has been moved. Sent the answers to the CO.
Isnt it great when you get to meet the original owners of a place. Walking along the base of the cliff, heard a noise above when loose rocks and sand fell behind me. Not a great throw to miss me when I heard, whos the pretty boy! Gee pretty game to throw out pick up lines. Then I saw the culprit and have included the mug shot for future finders of who to keep an eye out for when visiting Cockatoo Is! It was a pleasure to visit. Answer sent to the CO.
# #6,890 #----------I arrived at GZ to find no plinth. After looking around and reading past logs, I finally spotted what was needed to be found. No problems here, always nice to get another virtual. And a unique D/T rating for my virtual grid. TFTC!!! ----------> All geocaches are signed as mmmPIZZA or mPZ
Staying on the Island overnight and thought I would find a few caches while I was here. TFTC.
Today we decided to do a ticky geocaching tour on the ferries from circular quay. We jumped on the first ferry and our first stop was Cockatoo Island. This was a real gem of a place to visit. Nice to find an old virtual here. TFTC
wow, a virtual cache created in April 2004! so long ago! This is only the fourth time i've ever found a cache in this month and year.thanks so much Oplismenus for keeping this alive for us all to keep discovering. This is also only the fourth time i've ever come across this rare combination! i had a fun time exploring angry seagull (cockatoo) island. i did it in the daytime, but reading about the nightly ghost tours has me intrigued. odd that there's an expensive glamping option available on the island too. answers and photo sent.thanks Oplismenus!
Quiet day around the island not many muggles . Had to go looking for it but close to an old Frangipani tree tFtC
.The weather had finally cleared up, so we decided to head to Cockatoo Island. This island surprised us on multiple levels. It was interesting and amazing to explore. Thanks to maccamob, I was able to locate the Gz. Thanks for the cache.
Well the plinth seems to have been moved but we did find GZ. Really enjoying the history at this part of the island.
We searched the "quadrangle" several times, with gz showing at the centre, so figured something may be missing or covered over, as we found the circles of pavers. On the Island with lots of geocachers and some fiends walkked past, so we asked for some help. They told us a story that the thing has been moved, and showed us to where. New coords are S 33 50.894 E151 10.240. Best to leave this oldie going.
Found while doing the GCNSW Great Aussie Keytag Trek. A few other cachers which I was doing the Keytag Trek with, told me it was here. I have forgot to log this find for a bit. Can the Cache Owner please message me for the keyword. My first virtual.TFTC
We searched the "quadrangle" with gz in the centre - must have done that for 20 minutes with no luck. We got some help from some fellow cachers and was advised the item had been moved and they where it had been moved to. New coords are S 33 50.894 E151 10.240.
We have had a wonderful morning exploring cockatoo island. So much incredible history here and an island that was used to really help build the city of Sydney in so many ways. Thanks Oplismenus for maintaining this old hide Domsky

I am in Sydney from Adelaide for a few days to attend to some family business. It's not really been a caching trip, but I have managed to find a few while I have been here.
This morning I thought I'd visit Cockatoo Island before heading to the airport and home again this afternoon. Unfortunately things didn't go quite to plan and I had to cut short my visit to meet someone in the city. However, I did get the opportunity to complete this Virtual cache while I was there.
I was slightly confused about what I was looking for here. However, previous logs and photos were helpful and I soon had what I needed.
Thanks Oplismenus for a Virtual cache in a really interesting location.

In Sydney for a few days, to see a of shows, and ironically now between a couple of surgeries.
Turns out I didnt know what a plinth is until now. Looking at the photos of previous loggers, I had walked past it, got distracted by a cell under GZ and ended up cutting a lap to get up the hill to it again. Tftc

I had the most amazing morning, wandering around Cockatoo Island for a couple of hours. Being a Monday, I practically had the whole island to myself. A couple of pics helped me find the object in question. It's located right by the solitary confinement cells. Sent my answer to the CO and filled a whole in my D/T grid. This was the main reason for my visit to the island. Tick!
On this trip we are basically looking for Adventure Labs, Earth caches and Virtual's, anything where there isn't muggles involved and also hoping to pick up a few LGA's we need around the Sydney area
With an Adventure Lab, Earth Cache, virtual and a few Traditionals this was a must visit for us today while we had great weather. We found GZ quite easily but could not find the required word. We expanded our search some more and Diane spotted something we think was what we were looking for.
We have sent our answer off to the CO and if we have it wrong we will happily delete this log.
Many thanks for a great Virtual in a fantastic location. A favourite point from us

Visiting from Colorado USA. Picture taken at the coordinates but I had to wander around quite a bit to find the plinth. I wonder why the coordinates are so far from the plinth? Thank you for creating this cache and helping to keep our recreation going.
Wandered past it and around in circles till we found it.

Really enjoying my visit to Cockatoo Island. Did the virtual tour and learned about the history surrounding the convict precinct, was amazing to look through the old ruins of the buildings!
Eventually I managed to find the titular Plinth, answers sent through to CO.
Thanks for this virtual, great to log such an old one!
Greetings from Melbourne.
