Walking along the Ridge, we both thought, " I wonder if there's a cache here." Bingo, just a few more steps along the path, and we earned ourselves another smiley. TFTC Fantastic views!

This oldie was the main target that brought me up here, but the views from this end were awesome great bonus! No trouble finding the cache in its hidey hole, once signed I went to the end to admire more of the views. Amazing to have the mountain to myself today. Tftc Brother ColinFind #5339

Today, while travelling in the area, we grabbed the opportunity to stop and find some Sweet-Sour caches and to reflect on his wonderful contribution to this game that weve grown to love. This Conservation Park is a lovely spot to pay homage to Keith and Boat Mountain seemed very fitting for an ex-navy man. What a lovely walk this is. After the steps at the beginning, this is a very easy walk. We followed the well worn path all the way to the lookout. We are walking in cloud so the views werent great today, but its not raining and its very pleasant. Plenty of birdsong about us too. The coordinates were very good which made this well-placed cache a quick find. All is in very good condition here. Thank you Brother Colin.

Road trips for The Bromance have been few and far between since Covid-19 raised its ugly head so, with the recent travel restrictions now eased, Seffnjarah, Swellerfungus and a full complement of JezNDez headed off to subject JezNDez's new acquisition Max to the rigours of its first The Bromance geocaching weekend.

After staying the night in Goomeri we headed out next day to continue exploring the Goomeri and Kilkivan areas. Although we had visited this area back in May, we still had plenty of caches left to find up this way, including this one.

We had observed the mountain from a different vantage point earlier this morning but it was time to take in the views from the top, and burn off some of our breakfast from the Goomeri Bakery.

The nearby lookout was definitely our favourite location for the whole trip. Spent a good while here enjoying the views, as well as accidentally invading a number of Dez's photos Red Face. Logbook stamped with The Bromance team stamp. TFTC

Completing a multitude of backlogs from a Bromance trip in August 21. Apologies for the late log. This was a bromance run in between COVID lockdowns, and somehow I didn't get to logging these finds. I was with Seffnjarah and a full team of JeznDez in the new jalopy they had recently purchased. Thanks ot the CO's for the great caches we picked up. Caching roadtrips with friends are the BEST!

Nyssaflutterby, 1Minniemoo and I were on a road trip from north Brisbane to Munduberra and back via Kingaroy. We had a few planned caches and some extras along the way.
Nice quick find here on the lovely walk through the trees, it was a bit chilly up here today!
We took some photos, had a seat for a while, 1MM pretended she was on a ship...

10/7/21 Find #4890
Day two of our weekend Road Trip had NyssaFlutterby, wombles and co, and I starting the morning in Mundubbera before heading to Auburn and then beginning our journey back down to reach Kingaroy for the night.
Having enjoyed our time in Auburn, it was time for our next hike around Boat Mountain. We came across our elderly couple once more, who assured us that although we still had a way to go the view is well worth it - I think they must’ve thought we were terribly unfit and struggling to get there due to the time we had taken compared with them.Saw a Kangaroo on the way here, and then did the Jack and Rose pose from Titanic at the tree at the lookout as it was the “front of the boat”.
Then back to find the cache, after just a slight foot slip at GZ.
Thanks for the cache Brother Colin.

Wow, this one has been around for a long time, great to see! This was our first visit to Boat Mountain which we had to use some imagination to see the resemblance to a boat but still made for quite an interesting feature. Away for the weekend from the Sunshine Coast hinterland heading to the Goomeri pumpkin festival tomorrow, between Murgon & Kingaroy motels today, exploring some of the countryside.
Really enjoyed the relaxing walks with several geocaches sprinkled along the way. Great views from this point near gz. Had to slide a little down the slope, hoping not to fall off the mountain, the red Simpson desert-like dirt contrasting spectacularly with the view and blue sky beyond. Found the well worn cache bucket safely secured from falling further, signed, replaced then continue the little bit further to the end.

Heading out on a LONG drive today.
From north Brisbane, to Esk, to Lake Cressbrook, Crows Nest, Haden, Cooyah, Yarramann, Nanango, Murgon and Boat Mountain, And return!!! No rest for the wicked. 500 kms+ in a day, with good weather, good company and good caches. Bliss!

I enjoyed my walk around Boat Mountain with a friend and with my parents. Awesome views up here today! The clouds were on the horizon and the cool breeze was delightful. This one was extra special being one of Queensland's oldest caches. Great history here!

Thanks for contributing to an awesome day out caching. Home now, exhausted but happy.

After a morning spent collecting puzzles and views further south, OBC and I headed north with this specific old cache in mind, and a few other caches along the way. Joined by Ma&Pa_Counters for this part of the day we had a leisurely drive up the road, and a nice little walk up the steps to this spot. Stunningly beautiful views, a quick cache find, and more view gazing. Lovely.

Thanks damian007 adopted by Brother Colin for entertaining me at this location. I have now found 415 of Queensland's oldest 500 Active geocaches.

Nomads hunkering in their caravan near Murgon . We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Now we have to cope with Corona Virus ..... and social distancing. We are currently hunkered with our caravan on a farm at Manyung near Murgon.

Caching at least keeps us sane in a time of social distancing - when it is suitable. And now we have had some restrictions lifted, and we can go hiking, and national parks are open, so we are out and about again, with caution.

It's Mothers Day, and my son came up from Brisbane for the weekend, which was a real buzz. We decided, as I can't do the walk up the steps to Boat Mountain (Bad Knees) and as I have already visited, that son (Joe_m) and Mr D would do the hike, find the caches while I sat in the car and did my crochet.

So, I sat in the car, watching muggles come and go, while my crochet blanket got bigger. Occasionally, I got a call to say another cache had been found. Thank you damian007 and Brother Colin for putting the caches on Boat Mountain for our enjoyment on Mothers Day.

Just visiting today, as we have previously found - JoeM was surprised to see our calling card.

Visiting Kilkivan for the annual Cache-up event. Sweet-Sour kindly offered to chauffeur me around for the day. Who was I to refuse? After finding a nearby cache, we took a pleasant stroll through the vine forest to this one. My caching buddy had previously found this cache, so I was left to search for this one on my own. The cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

Attending the Kilkivan event finding mostly newer caches with a few older ones in between. It was an early start after a peaceful sleep in the swag and awaking to a rowdy chorus of birds.

Been meaning to get back here for ages to find this one, so with all the new caches just released here I'm glad I waited.

Beautiful views and breezes.

I had been on an overnight road trip with my geogirls to Kingaroy and Ballogie to pick up their friend for the holidays. We decided to take the scenic route home and I took the opportunity to detour to Boat Mountain to make a find and enjoy the lookout. None of the teenagers wanted to make the climb, so I trotted up the stairs, stopping in one spot to take advantage of the strategically placed seat, and then enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the path to the lookout. I noticed that the lush greenery gave way to a grassy path and more bushy surrounds, before changing again to a dirt path covered in gum leaves leading through towering trees. The change in the foliage made me think of the changes I saw as I headed to the outback last year. I spotted the hide as I got close to gz, and retrieved the container without any trouble, adding my name to the log. I walked a bit further to see the view from the lookout and take some photos with the cool sign. Tftc Brother Colin, I enjoyed my visit here...another place I probably wouldn't have seen without caching.

Second venture out this way and I had the strength and energy to walk the whole distance which means I have finally beaten the Ross River Virus I contracted at the end of January. Gorgeous walk with fantastic views from up here and I was very relieved to find a pen in the cache so I could legitimately leave my mark. Very unusual being able to walk on top of a mountain and not be out if breath the whole way. Who knew a flat mountain could be so much fun.

Up bright and early today, caffeinated and set off with Brother Colin for the day to find some caches and explore a little of this region.

I found 31 today, north, east, and south of our campsite in Murgon. What a great way to spend the day, listening to Triple J's Hottest 100 in the air conditioning of the car in between finds.

Nice views, a favourite point from me.

S 26° 09.355 E 151° 58.590 This cache is easy enough to find if you use these co-ords that were provided in a previous log by Captain Terror. WE really enjoyed the walk along the top of Boat Mountain and the view from the lookout. There were two geocoins in the cache. This is the first time in a couple of years that I have seen actual geocoins! (Geocoins are trackables that are to be moved on not kept like pathtags). I don't geocache very much so after taking a photo of the geocoins I placed them back in the cache. Thanks damian007 for the cache.

I was chatting to Captain Terror this morning trying to find something to do on my rare weekday off work. He mentioned that he was going caching with Fangsoki and that I should come along. Within the hour I was sitting in the car being driven up to this cache.

Captain Terror and Fangsoki are very big fans of older caches and I can see why. These older caches are in great locations and barely need maintaining compared to the average roadside newer caches. Today saw us standing at the car park to Boat Mountain with a Boat. The guys were going to go for a paddle in the afternoon so we were prepared for anything.

We started the walk and I remembered why I stop caching in summer. It was such a hot day and there were so many stairs. After having a break at Braithwaites lookout we continued on along the flat easy terrain until we were at 0m. We split up and started looking. Eventually Fangsoki came up with the goods using alternate coords.

We signed our names in the logbook and I dropped a couple of TB 's before heading down to Daniels Lookout for a quick look, out. Thanks for the cache damian007

19-Oct-15
Old caches were the call of the day for Captain Terror, Net88, and I.

So the irony.. we turn up at the parking at Boat Mountain.. with a boat. We never ended up using the boat due to time constraints. But the trackable boat made it to Boat Mountain.. so I'm dipping it Razz

I was not expecting a walk - but we did what must be done. Stairs. How about those stairs? How about those stairs going up? Razz Thankfully, they did not go for long and we were on top. Thankfully, for the next 950m or so it was smooth sailing toward GZ.

We arrived at GZ. It was only then did I realise this one had been placed in a different position. I plugged in the new co-ordinates and found the cache in no time. Good on Brother Colin for replacing the cache. We signed the log and re-hid as found.

We took some time to take some snaps and head back. We got back without incident.. sans Captain Terror accidentally booting some poor little tree snake and scaring everyone in general.

I have placed some alternate co-ordinates that worked for me today.

A great place to visit - and unexpected in these parts. TFTC damian007 Smile

19-Oct-15
I've looked at heading to Boat Mountain a few times over the years, but as tends to happen, I never got there, even if I have been closeby a few times. Fangsoki was keen for a day out and even though it's a bit of a drive from the south side of Brisbane, we agreed a few older geocaches were worth it. Net88 tagged along and after a late start on the day, we headed out.

There were plans to go paddling after this, so the kayak was on the roof. In all hilarity, there was actually a boat at Boat Mountain for an hour or so! It's a hot day out, thankfully Net provided a camelback and with just over a kilometre to the geocache, we set off.

Personally, I thought the climb up would be long and steep. And it was one of those. The stairs at the start were a bit of a bummer in the heat of the day, but once you get to the Braithwaite lookout, we found an incredibly flat walk along the ridge for close to a kilometre. And it was a pretty narrow ridge, so the views were excellent. We strolled and chatted and enjoyed being on this mountain.

When we got to GZ, the three of us spread out to find the container. Not many options so I started down in some more difficult terrain. However, sneaky Fangsoki found some alternate co-ordinates and made the find. I noticed this when he was asking what date to write in the logbook and I was some 30 metres away, looking under a rock.

A slight bummer the old geocache went up in smoke, but top marks to Brother Colin for replacing it - and with an appropriate sized container. I have repeated the new co-ordinates with my log too. The geocache was replaced and of course we carried on to the lookout. The views really are brilliant and it was delightfully windy too.

Our walk back was pretty straightforward. Although, I did very nearly step on a Coastal Taipan or Tree Snake (I can never tell the difference quickly) which reared up and did a very quick turn to get the heck away from the big scary people. He certainly got my attention quickly in the process and Net made a funny squeak. Call me crazy, but I always enjoy seeing snakes or any wildlife when in the bush.

What a lovely, hidden away spot. I probably wouldn't have known about it, had it not been for this geocache hidden over 11 years ago. I would argue the Terrain is closer to a 2.5 or 3 by contemporary standards, but enjoyable nonetheless. Thanks for this geocache, damian007 Smile

Curiosity got the better of us after reading of the demise of the original cache, which we found back in 2012. It's hard to imagine a grass fire destroying an ammo box, so we just had to go and see for ourselves. Fortunately we had a photo of Princess Madelyn standing next to the old cache, so we were able to go straight to its' former location. We could see where the fire had been, and it appears that the sticks that hid the old ammo tin were completely burnt in the fire, thus leaving the cache exposed to the first muggle who ventured along. Alas, it seems that's how it met its' fate. So we entered the new "Brother Colin" co-ords into the GPSr and made our way to the updated GZ. Well hidden, but easy to find, we signed the log and headed back to the car for some lunch. Thanks Brother Colin for replacing this cache - it's a great location. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.

Decided today was the day I was going to climb 177 steps and visit the two lookouts at Boat Mountain, as we have now been housesitting in the area for the past three weeks. My sister and geohub as travelling companions make the trek. Watching the GPSr, watching the track, watching the view, finally realised I had passed the cache, so returned to GZ. Nothing but a few burnt out logs, Sad so read up on previous logs. Big Grin

Thanks to Brother Colin, who had replace the cache after the fire, I redirected my self to the new coordinates and made the find. Smile

Thanks Damian007 for bringing us here, and thanks Brother Colin for sorting it. FTF - replacement log! Smile

Nothing in the cache, so started a new collection with an excellent pencil.

THE NEW CO-ORDINATES ARE S 26 09.355 E 151 58.590

Wombat the Anthus laptop Geocoin visited, as did Runciple's Grasshopper, a tassie trekkers pathtag, a sweet - sour pathtag, a dolphin, a broken heart and geo achievement 500 caches award, oh, and a bundle of keyrings that I have collected since caching in WA in August 2013 (current count is 22)

So a day geocaching was in order.
I am slowly moving west. Smile
I hiked out to the lookout after passing the burnt bushland. This is when I checked the logs ... bugger ... back to the car I headed. Sad
I did spend quite some time poking the ground with my waking stick hoping the cache was buried but soon found the green melted plastic blob. Twisted

As this is an old cache I decided to replace it. Big Grin

I have a few spare containers in thr car and as the walk was enjoyable and easy I headed back to GZ with a new container. [^]
The cache has been replaced but I did need to relocate it due to the burn.
THE NEW CO-ORDINATES ARE S 26 09.355 E 151 58.590.
The container is still 'regular' size and just off the trail.
The CO will want to change the published co-ords.

Thanks for the walk ... twice.
Thanks for the cache.

Went looking for this today, I am new to this and didn't read the activity log so didn't realise it was gone, this was my 2nd cache on my very first day of geocaching out with Dingomick, was a great walk with great views, hope to come back here when it is replaced. Smile

The 2nd one for the day, it had been melted by fire that had gone threw the place, but what a great view and walk, me and purplecazza still had a ball. was a pitty, we could not leave anything....

Sort of.
Found the GZ and a melted greenish plastic blob on ground. There has been a recent fire through here. I had nothing to replace it with.
I am happy to come prepared and renew it...or if it is archived will set about putting a multi-cache in the conservation park. Nice walk and all but sad that the cache is lost.

Climbed the stairs and saw the view, but no cache was found Sad. Mrs.K. And I searched for 20 minutes - the thunder rumbled and we returned to the geomobile.
We will return another time.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Oh boy that's a lot of stairs. More like terrain 3 Smile Lovely little hike though.

Did a bit of looking and eventually found the cache. GPS was wondering around a bit. Walked to the end of the path to admire the view.

Took fish and left Fairy Trinket.

What another great bush cache. But for some unknown reason both Fairy Mother and I's GPRrs were off and this took us about 10-15 minutes to find... Once found we just both went, 'Dar!'.

Great views from the end of the track and well worth the trek!

I think the terrain rating on this cache is a little off and may require an update.

Thanks for the cache 'damian007'. The cache is in god order.

Well we enjoyed the walk, stairs no real problem, great views but did not find that for which I seek, tried PAF but he was out. Looked around a bit, still no luck, however have since looked at a photo and should have done beforehand, recognised background tree. Ah well can't win them all.
