On our trip from Southern Sydney today heading back to Canberra, we decided to take a detour via Picton. This old Hide in a beautiful location had been on our plans for sometime, but as it is not on the main road we have often had to bypass as we race up or down the freeway. Today we decided to allow time to make the detour and drive slowly down the dirt road to a suitable parking place where we began our walk. The first part of the walking Trail was quite flooded, and we were not sure whether this was commonplace or not. However, coming to an intersection and heading closer to the Hide all was dry and the Trail was very clear. We really enjoyed this walk. What a peaceful and beautiful area and we saw no one else along the way. With no wind and clear skies, the reflections in the water from the trees around the lake were absolutely stunning. We were happy to add our name to the log here. Thanks Try hards for keeping this oldie in such great condition. Domsky
Quick run around Picton today collecting enough smileys for this month’s challenge souvenir. Had planned to tick this and Lake View off late 2019 but reserve closed due to bushfires which sadly would hit their peak barely a few days later. Almost bypassed again today as it was getting late in the day and I wasn’t sure about the gravel road condition but after making it to Lake View, decided to continue and see how far I could get. Taking it slow and ample parking near GZ, ticking this one off also proved easy with bonus unfound time!
Walked straight to it. Good walk in considering water running between the lakes. Kids had fun.
Walking on Thirlmere Lakes tracks and thought we would try our hand at Geocaching. A lot of fun
Found it yesterday and after taking a few wrong turns at the track junction (third time lucky) I was freaking out cos it was a spur of the moment decision and I only had 1% battery left fortunately I got to GZ before phone died. This cache def deserves a favourite point. Found a few of the rock craze along the way with interesting Darrawal language lessons so if the geo kiddies are into that as well there are at least two. There is also a great amount of water in the lakes again so would def recommend coming back with a paddle board or swim. Tftc
Nearly tried this one from a different direction on a previous visit to the area, would have made for a more difficult experience. Driving to the obvious spot made for a much easier find.

A nice drive through the NP, but the only wildlife we saw was a dead wombat on the road that must have been hit overnight. The walk to GZ was easy enough, as was the find in the obvious place. That's a rather large regular. TFTC
The kiddos were excited to find this one. The 4 year old was happy to leave a blue Simba ooshie as our mark of finding this cache. They loved seeing what else others have left.

Find # 8275
Found while up at the Gong event.
Seeing as I was still all alone after grabbing the mega geoart. With no messages on the phone from anyone needing or looking for me. I headed west, as I still needed to feed the smiley addiction. Also I was interested to see what the map would bring up.
Well from over the M31 I had a great selection.
A couple of oldies, a few nanos, some good short walks and all the time needed to do them in.
Also realized there was a couple of puzzles that were easily solved n grabbed in the area.

Day 43
Found with Lucky Cricket and Little Cricket, A great cache, we went the long way to find this one but got there in the end. great spot. TFTC
We unknowingly took the wrong track which had me questioning the terrain rating, then we finally made it to the cache and found the correct "1.5" terrain track...oops. Signed the log and swapped a plastic ring for a turtle, then took the easier way back. Great hide, lots of fun TFTC:)
Great day out and about with the Littluns... Proud as punch when They found this on Their Own
Got to GZ and spied a spot which would fit the cache name, Geomum found it and signed the log.
Will return for this one... Pretty sure I have its location, but NPWS were working Close by.
Top day for a walk around the Lakes. Easy find in an ideal location for a cache.
So sad to see the Lakes so low. This is the worst I've seen in them in the many years I have been coming to this area.

fitzy_1965 and I headed out for a caching weekend with the aim of camping at Wingello so we could attend the 'Let's Wing It, Again' event Sunday morning. We decided to pick up some out of the way caches between Moss Vale and Nowra on Saturday and then up around Picton on Sunday.
I got fitzy to detour in here for two caches he had already found. It had been years but he walked me right up to GZ. Cache found safely tucked away. TFTC

Decided to head down Thirlmere way again for more multiple caching goodness.
I'd noticed some older caches here - including ones from 2001 & 2002. Got to get some of that, and indeed grabbed the 2002 hide.
In all I went for 14 and found 13. I suspect the DNF was somewhat self inflicted.
Still a good day. And there's plenty more down here to grab.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
And now the first of the two old caches in the National Park.
Found the close by parking area and even a track. Bargain.
Made my way to GZ and immediately spotted a place worthy of further investigation.
And there it was. Easy find.
Cache in good condition - lid was wet but contents bone dry.
Completed signing duties and replaced.
Then missed my turn off back to the car. Who knows where I would have ended up if the spider web across the track hadn't alerted me?
So good to find such an old cache.
But there is one more nearby that is older...

We continued our drive through the national park to this cache. There was convenient parking close to the cache. A short walk and we had this one found.
Thanks

This is my 1st cache! Was a very refreshing bushwalk. Lots of little honey eaters and wrens. Only took seconds to find once in the spot. Safe searching! From ChubbyTryHard

Found -- 2:24:17 PM -- SL TFTH. Thanks for bringing us here to this location Try hards. Cache in good condition but a little moist inside. It seems like it’s been ages since we last had really good weather for caching. Having a moment of cravings i've taken advantage of the somewhat good weather to do get out and about with hubz and bubz.
It was fun getting to this cache. I liked this one. I'm getting better at finding caches in the bush now they were my pet hate when I first began caching. Found this cache easily enough. Spotted some lovely seed pods from I assume a banksia or bottle brush - I don't really know. This was found in a beautiful little grove on our way out from the cache. Liked this hike. Favourite point from me.

Yes. We got there. Took a while, but got there. Wow. We're still crazy. Out there in 40 degree heat. Insanity. So after going to Lake view this has to be easier, right? Not much. This time the bush is thicker. So we park as close as we can to the cache and try to figure out which way to go. It's still hot so slow going. We head on through the brush, watch for snakes and all else. At last we see somewhat of a trail and a bit of a clearing. Easier going now. Ok, over there that looks like the title. Keep going. I got it. Good. Sign off and now back again to the car and air conditioning. And then home but on the way a stop to get a frozen coke. Per geocaching guidelines this would be at least a 2 terrain. Primary objective for the day-trip to this area was to recover and move a TB left at Castaway.
Tally for the day, 17 finds, 1 revisit, 1 start on a multi and 1 DNF.

Took the opportunity to find a few caches near the Thirlmere Lake area. This was the sixth find for the day.
The container was lying right out in the open when I arrived. I replaced it to where I thought it might match the cache title and hints. Hope I haven't introduced any inadvertent cache-creep as a result.

TFTC - lots of fun trinkets - and such a Beautiful peaceful spot. Just us the sunshine and the birdsong
This has been here since 2004! Good condition. Little dingbat who was here then must be 13 years old now.
Found with Minyakano after making out way through the bush and finding out way around the flooded path. Thanks
After the awful storms last weekend I ventured out this weekend but I was too late to get a haircut, so...to cheer myself up...I went geocaching with Finalf29 instead...as you do. Great afternoon but cut short due to youngest getting a call into work. Found six (one was 15 years old!)
This was my second for the arvo. Probably not the best time to have a go at this one since all the rain last weekend had made the road very muddy. At one point my map had us driving through the lake...which kinda fitted in with all the run off still pouring along the road...easy trail to GZ, with only 1 creek crossing (but water was not too deep). Easy find with the name leading the way. Thanks.

Out and about with Happy Uke today!
A nice little walk through the weeds. Our feet got a little wet.
Thanks!

Such an obvious path but somehow we didn't see it initially. Luckily the GPS had it marked and we had one of those d'oh moments when we realised where it was. Walk to GZ was easy and the hide location was clearly seen. Don't find many big boxes like these around. Thanks Try hards.
Nice easy walk after doing the lake loop. Covered with camo when replaced as the container was a little too visible.
Intended a day of walking but discovered you can actually drive around the lakes... so, we drove. Easy find, thanks. One leech who didn't live to tell the tale.

Nice little place. Plenty of wildlife is true- had to pick a leech off me just as the cache was returned.
Good sized container, always nice to find these days.
Neither of the listed trackables are in this cache. One appears missing since 2013 and the other since 6.1.16, its a shame that people don't log these out properly for the owners.

Found this cache at 1.20pm while out for "Australia Day" caching in this beautiful aussie bush of ours. The track in was pleasant with the bottle brush and birds twittering around the bush. what a hugh old tree and stump. Not seen to many of the size of cache as this in past couple of years.
Thanks Try hard for the hide.

Cleared out/Finished off Joadja, Thirlmere and Tahmoor.
13 caches today (6.66% of remaining 50km radius)
Battled patches of light showers, but the rain didn't deter me - Thanks for a leisurely outing.
---End of Copy/Paste Section---
Worried about the gate being locked at "sunset" or getting stuck in the rain - but neither were a problem.
Made my way in and out with no fuss. Quick stroll in, and a quick find.
NICE SIZE!!!! Thanks for the "old-school" cache!

A pleasant drive brought us close to this cache, unfortunately a lack of observation meant we missed the path on our way in and only used it upon leaving the cache. Nicely situated.
We bush-bashed our way in to this cache only to discover a path not 20m from our entry point. We had the cache soon enough and followed the path back out. TFTC!
Found with emyal91 and reecea90 I'm pretty sure we took the hard and long way in. Log been vandalised with crude drawings. Had to high tail it out of there before we lost the sun. TFTC
Headed here straight after "Lake view", dodging the road pot holes upon the drive. Nice that this hide has its own carpark of two bays. Followed the trail and was obvious where it was hidden, as per cache name, TFTC
The third stop of my afternoon with Martin Cousins.
I forgot the name of the cache till I got to GZ. Oh, yeah!
