Found the Greek letter in the park, amazed i had not noticed this before. Got to the location and it was very burnted out and nothing but charred bit of log. after spending a long time searching the area nothing was found except the 'L' shaped piece of concrete.
Appears to be destroyed by fire.
This was a plastic box that would not stand up to intense heat.
This was a plastic box that would not stand up to intense heat.
The rural firies have burnt this area out too in preparation for the fire season. You can see right to GZ from the main path (40 odd metres away) and on arrival there is nothing there except charred timber. I looked hard hoping the container was something that would not melt but there are no signs of anything left. The concrete "L" angle (Check photographs) is still there about 10 meters west but I found nothing around this either or from my expanded search. If anyone knows better please let us know

Nice simple find with simple maths. Well you would think so for someone who used to excel at maths!?! But, NO!
TNLNL. TFTC.

3 years after first attempting this M11 and I finally found it. Taking the bush route proved difficult as the trees cancelled out the GPS signal. From the road however, the location was more easily pinpointed and it was just a matter of counting off the steps (metres) in the correct direction before arriving at the likely (and correct) hiding place. We took the little braided helicopter, and left a red Chinese tassle.
During my stay at ANSTO, this was my second find in Australia. Did go for it during lunchbreak with some of my colleagues. The first part was really simple, for the second part, we did not immediately find a good route to the final location. We finally got to a distance of about 20m when we had to realize there is no real path leading near the cache. At first we were a little bit afraid of going right through the brushwood because of potentially dangerous animals (back home in Germany this would not have been an issue) but in the end curiosity made us go after it. Coordinates were fairly accurate and so it was an easy find.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Germany,

This has been one of those caches that I just seem to have driven past so many times and said I'll do that one day. Well today as I headed to work for a meeting I finally stopped and completed it.
That was after I balls up the maths on my first attempt. Eventually I had the cache in hand as the heavens openned up.
Thanks

Took 2 attempts - the first I worked out the right letter, and headed to a meeting, then did not work it out right on the way home.
I should have worked it out at WP1 - it was walkable from there.
A nice hide, in a nice bit of bush - find #420 (plus the GCA ones)
As this is a fairly easy mystery/multi-cache, I droppped off a g/coin.

My first multi. Did all the maths yesterday but the iPhone just wasn't accurate enough to find the cache, so went out to buy a gps this morning and headed out with Azzo89 to find it. Was slightly damp inside, dried it the best I could. TNLN TFTC

The calculations for this one ended up being All Greek to me!
I'd got the letter sorted out on a quick drive by one day and from then on things got unnecessarily complicated.
I managed to get a decimal point a bit out so two recent visits have seen me wandering around in the wrong spot. A check of the calcs last night and another final spot worked out and it was off this morning. Once at the proper GZ the cache didn't take too much finding.
Glad to have been able to now complete this one. TFTC!

Successfully found WP1, got the coordinates for WP2 only to discover myself in thick bush full of spiders!!! I got within 30m but the bush was so thick and I was wet, tired and sore (from prickly plants) that I just gave up.
We worked out this one many months ago with Usat31 but just hadn't got around to it until today. Fortunately our workings out must have been okay as we found the cache easily once we got to GZ. Left a travel bug.

As Mr H said - the final to this was worked out months ago & it was not until today that we were able to get back to do the deed.
Mr H soon had the cache in hand on our joint mission to wipe off a few local multis and mysteries.
Local kids must like the area too - they had a bonging good time just up the track, by the looks of things & they forgot to pick up itheir belongings!!!

For us "fairly simple"aches are just as impossible to find as "easy"ones! We didn't like the way the maths panned out so off home for a Google Earth GZ check.
We left the salvageable swag (transistors, spider, whistle, bracelet, and kids compass) in the cache "Convicts Hole" GCXNT8. We somehow missed the Canadian penny, but will drop it in the next suitable cache.
Neat idea in a nice park! Did the maths, and took off for GZ. The coords were right on, and the cache was easily found. With SWAG aft's permission, we've replaced the cache, and included a new log book and pen. Any salvageable swag will be placed into other caches, as they need to be cleaned first. Thanks for the fun SWAG aft!
Hi found WP1 easily as it's 92m from my house. Then worked out math and off to GZ. Wont say distance from my house to this but found GZ (not too hard) slightly different Posn from original and marked new posn. Found block (wrote on block Yeehaa) even climbed tree did 10m then 20m search/scan but could not find Log book??

This was my first and definately not my last Cache!!
**NOTE**
Alot more damage to cache surrounding area, many more foot tracks walked throughout area.

Arriving at WP1 today I thought I had this one all sussed out except that when I turned on the laptop I suddenly discovered the critical chart was not showing up on my offline cache details page, thats where a good caching friend comes in handy. Before too long I was on my way to GZ. Unfortunately some of the local youth have burn't out and tagged all the trees for about 15 metres, termite mounds and ground within 10 metres of the cache , but still it remained well hidden. The cache needs some serious maintenance now, it is absolutely soaked, there's no swaps that were not damaged and the logbook I could hardly write in just as well I use stickers!
Nice walk in the park to spite the part thats been rubbished.
Thanks to Swagaft for the cache no swaps no trackables

Found this very quickly. That is the biggest hint at WP1 !
Unfortunately, this cache is extremely wet. The log is only just...TNLN. My space age pen can write on Mars so managed this log ok.

After finding the clue and once the cords where worked out we set off to find the cache, after a short walk we arrived at GZ I then quickly located the cache we opened it up to find a very moist cache and a wet mouldy log book swaped a golf tee for a bouncey ball this cache needs some maintenace asap thanks....
After grabbing the Symbol from Masobec yesterday, I did the maths and we were off. I'm not a fan of maths, and not knowing if we had the correct coordinates we set of to find the goods.
Bushy found the very wet cache straight away.
Quickly signed the log and then we were off to find Toxic Butt Syndrome.
Thanks

After making our first find ever, we decided to have a go at this one.....sadly we ran out of time, and the Geokids ran out of patience
Will head out again today with more time on our hands.
No spiders about atm....but won't be long before they take over again.

I'd originally tried to find this one on Sunday morning, but I got the maths wrong and ended up at the creek between Menai and Bangor. In fact, it was such a convincing hiding spot, I spent about 20 minutes there, poking around and looking suspicious before giving up.
Later that morning I checked the co-ords and realised I'd made a boo-boo. So around 2pm, M8 and I set off from the park for another attempt. We found ourselves in deep jungle (bush), just off a very lightly beaten track, but annoyingly close to the main road. Eventually we found a clearing and a strange man-made object that seemed to mark the spot, yet after 30 minutes of scratching around (literally), we gave up in disgust. The damn thing could have been anywhere - it was very thick. We walked the 20m to the main road and went back to the park the long (but easy) way, sweaty and scratched, and full of bugs and prickly stuff attached to our socks.

Dropped off one of the kids for soccer warm up at Barden Ridge (aka Lucas Heights), and then into Menai to find this cache. Found the greek letter and off to locate the cache itself. Spent about 10 minutes wandering round trying to find it and then there it was!

Have seen this park before, while visiting the shops, but have never noticed the "Greek letter". Did the maths and off I went to find the cache. Note to self- do not go scrub bashing in thongs and beach gear. I was very wary of stepping on a snake. No snakes, no spiders but lots of webs.
Literally stumbled upon the cache as there were so many places it could hide. This has got to be one lucky cache. It seems that a bush fire may have swept over it. Lots of evidence of old fire activity and new fire activity not that far away.
Cache is in excellent condition, well concealed and obviously well insulated.
Then it was off to the beach to get rid of those cobwebs and the itchies from all the prickly plants.

This one hadn't been discovered for awhile so I thought I'd go check it out.
Had found WP1 previously although my linguistic skills prohibited me from calculating the final waypoint.
With the maths done I found the cache was walking distance from the waypoint.
Co-Ords were spot on and the cache is in excellent condition.
Thanks for the hide.

Last of three caches for the evening. I really liked the Greek character at WP1, but it's a pity some mindless morons have defaced it with spray cans. [:(!] I did the maths and got the correct numbers first up. Then I proceeded to enter the wrong numbers into the GPSr. [B)] Oblivious to this, I did a quick check of the map, and the new coords seemed to be in a small park about 800m away. I drove around there to find that the coords were actually smack bang in the middle of the end of a court! I rechecked the numbers and the coordinates in my GPSr, and realised my mistake. Doh!
When I got to the real GZ, I had 22m walk through the bush, and found the cache at 2145. Despite the mention of spiders in the logs, I didn't see a single one. In my experience, this is unusual for Sydney, but it mustn't be the right season for them (thank goodness). Thanks to SWAG aft for the cache.

Found this one easily with the family in tow. My daughter had a great time at the playground in the park nearby. The bushland shows signs of some activity by the local youth, and as previously reported the St Andrews Cross spiders are thriving.
Retrieved the “Water†Travel Bug.
I had no swaps of a suitable size, so TNLN.
Thanks SWAG aft.

3rd find today and just in time for lunch. Brang the olg girl (me mum) for a day out to show her what this is all about. Thank heavens i have found caches and not fallen into sneaky traps. Thanks SWAG aft TNLN
I've been running into St Andrews Cross spider webs all day, they are especially difficult to see in the dark. It must be a good year for them. I reckon if they could communicate via the world wide web they'd make me their public enemy #1.
On the way over I was wondering what there might be at waypoint 1 that resembled a Greek letter...
An old Sigma parked in the car park? A pie shop? A picture of Delta Goodrem?
Well I didn't see any of the above but I did walk into a lot of spider webs.

What a great little park...kids can ride their bikes whilst you go off in search of the cache. Quick find, took the fishing line and left a first aid item.
Found the Cache after poor maths at the first waypoint sent me in an opposite direction which looked a likely spot so wasted much time there.
Took caribiner left fishing line.
Took Travel Bug 'Water'
Nice Cache, well hidden, In good condition. Thanks Swag aft

Well that WAS fun. After getting the corrected co-ords I headed off to found the cache. Unfortunately I failed to notice ALL the correction and missed the extra decimal place. Then tried a bunch of other possibilities:
First attempt - someone's front yard
Second attempt - someone's backyard
Third attempt - Beside a road
Fourth attempt - Bongtown
Finally gave up and went home. I instantly realised my mistake after checking the cache page.
Back again in the afternoon with PAK and the cache was uncovered within 5 mins.
Phew.

Seems I had a number of DNFs on the election ticket on the weekend. Well running for the Geocaching party I hid my name on the green lower house ballot paper so no non-cachers would find it.
All you had to do to reveal my name was place the ballot paper in front of a red light source while bending over looking through your legs. This also gave the location of another bonus twenty caches.
It’s a bit annoying this method did not work as Mark Latham’s campaign manager assured me it was a brilliant idea.

Sorry to everyone... again...
After a chat with SWAG agg, I discovered my problem with the initial coords was a case of dislexia that extedned to the final location as well...
I had swapped bits of the first coord with the second... and missed a zero along the way..
I normally get someone to check my maths, but this time I just put it up... Next time, I will get it checked...
all is fixed now

The false GZ was quite a good spot to plant a cache actually. Can't wait to see what the real one looks like.

An apologetic but dyslexic SWAG aft contacted me after I posted my no find. After exchanging notes he realized that he had posted the wrong numbers - again. With the right numbers now plugged in I went back and found it very quickly.
This cache has now been Beta tested and works - actually it's been Alpha, Beta and Gamma tested. Maybe that's why he put up the complete alphabet, so we would know what letter to use after the number of tries!
Took TB. Thanks aft - I think.

Not a happy experience with this one. I got out early yesterday and the co-ords put me somewhere in the scrub at the back of Barden Ridge. It was too early on a Saturday morning (like before 10am) to call the aft help line. The only thing that looked Greek was a large gum tree that looked like a Gamma. I had to leave because I was handing out how to vote cards. Unfortunately I didn't see Tangles on the ticket, so I couldn't give him my vote.
I was relieved to see that the wrong co-ords were posted. Tried again today and WP1 was very obvious without even getting out of the car. However after searching every nook and cranny within 10m of the calcuated numbers the thing didn't turn up. I even went back to WP1 to see if there was some other tricky Greek looking object. Neither aft phone support lines were manned today, so I'll have to try some other time.
