Today:Did a beautiful long hike in this area from Thirroul to Stanwell Park which took me pretty much all daylight hours to complete. Much of the track is closed for maintenance, but since it's a Saturday I was not bothering anyone and the track is good enough to walk. Enjoyed the gorgeous views along the way and a lot of very high quality geocaching. This area has so many gems to offer! This cache:Quick find at gz, tftc!

Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Staying at Coledale camping reserve, today we headed out to check out some of the many nearby lookouts! This of course saw us up and down many windy steep roads, some more than once. [:o)]TFTC The Rats Cool

Just before the end of the Geocaching NSW Winter walk we stopped to look for this cache. I had 1m on my GPS but being vertically challenged I would not have been able to access the cache alone. Lucky for tall caching friends in the group!
Log signed as JS to save space.
Definitely some top views here. Shame the cafe is no longer operating.
Loved the wishing well - wonder if I threw a coin in when I was a kid, my only other visit to this area.

Having arrived for the GCNSW event today a little early, I thought I'd pop by and grab this cache. I knew the walk would go past and figured it would be nice to find it myself rather than as part of the crowd.

It took me a moment to spot the hiding place as I was thinking on the wrong level. Then it took a little bit of angling to see and grab the cache. Not too taxing though.

The views have gotten a little overgrown at this point, but there's a perfectly good lookout not that far away. And as the café is closed these days and the walking track isn't that showy, it's nice and quiet around these parts.

At the far end of the Geocaching NSW Winter Walk, we had this cache to find. Being tall has its advantages and a grab in the unknown had me hold onto a familiair systema.

Having checked out the details of this cache last night, I came along this morning with a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. And my thoughts were correct, which led to a very quick find at ground zero!

Unfortunately, this didn't mean the cache was easy. As a vertically-challenged person, I spent some time pondering how to get to it. I'd forgotten to bring anything to stand on. I wandered back to the car and the carpark, but nothing was available - even the bin was chained up.

I briefly thought about getting my spare tyre out of the boot, but then another car arrived at the lookout and I dismissed the thought, haha.

Eventually I decided I'd just have to try and... climb it, maybe? I pre-emptively cleared the space of webs with a stick, and went for it, and discovered I was *just* tall enough to get fingertips on the cache. Phew!

Cachers under 5'3" will probably not succeed without a tall friend or something to stand on.

Thanks for the cache, The Rats!

Most times we just bypass Sydney via the M7 & M2 so haven't had the chance. However this time we thought we would try to grab a few new LGAs and travel home via the East Coast. Unfortunately the standard (nee - terrible) Sydney weather, stopped that happening. Yes I can bag Sydney weather, I lived here for 5 years.

999Huntress worked out where this one was while I checked the wrong elevation and had mived on. Unfortunately the log is just 1 big soggy mess.

Thanks for the cache The Rats

After spending Christmas in Sydney with the family, we are heading south today. Before taking the Appin Road, we decided to take a short detour here. This place brings back many memories from my childhood and it is sad to see it empty these days.
We found the hide with no problem, but note that the log is a little damp.
Signed, and then on our way further south.

Out early for a milestone caching adventure with some geofriends , but arrived a little early so went for a walk and saw that there was a cache nearby, so why not. Delved into my backpack to realise no gloves….and it’s cold outside and very windy. My hands are not going to be happy hands. Made my way down to an area I’d been to multiple times in the past, only this time there’s not a soul in sight! This will make for a relaxed search. My device advises me that I’m in the zone, so I take a look around at some likely spots, not there, hmm, how about there….yep, retrieved the hide and completed signing duties. The container had a bit of water in it and the log was a bit damp but I could still write on it. Unfortunately don’t have any supplies with me, so can only mention that it might need a bit of a CO check at some stage. Such a lovely spot, here and all along the whole of the Illawarra escarpment!

Find 244 for the tribe

Heading south after a trip to the zoo with the tribe. This cache was an excellent excuse for a rest break after the Sydney traffic.

Don't think the tribe has ever been to this lookout before but we will be heading back again! One of the best lookouts on the escarpment in my opinion. The rotary platform ensures spectacular tree free 180 degree views. Bizarre disused cafe building nearby! Will it ever operate again?

Cache and log in great condition despite the recent heavy rain. SL and replaced as found.

Thanks for placing and maintaining another of these retro caches, Rats

Brad was on his way to Sydney to visit B2 and J2. As he was staying in Cronulla he decided to head in via Woolongong to avoid the city and the joys of the M5. He realised that this one was "on the way" so it seems like a good spot to stop and stretch the legs before the final drive. Brilliant views even in the fading light and no sign of muggles.
Unfortunately the visitor centre down the road was not open so Brad's artistic attempts will have to wait for next time.
Thanks very muchThe Rats Smile

#7155 (1 of 3 today)

Down The Shire way for dinner with friends, so thought I'd go further south for some finds. Had originally thought to hit Helensburg, but misreading a "Road Closed" sign I ended up a lot further south, with a lot less time to make some finds. And a few DNFs didn't help. So only got three finds for my time, where I'd been hoping for two or three times that.
Oh well.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
So pulled in here hoping for a find. Spotted the right location first up, but checked the easier spots first. Of course it was where my cache senses had told me!

Completed signing duties and replaced, then away to my next target.
