After spending the night in town and dining out at the local pub it was time to get out and do colorectal the local area. I am working on a local challenge at home that requires cache numbers in Local government areas and so I need another 80 or so in the Gympie area. This area is rich with caches so off I go. Arriving at ground zero I found a safe place to park the geowagon and off I go. I quickly found ground zero and located the cache. After extracting the log and making my mark I quickly returned to the geo wagon in search of my next adventure.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.Cheers

Our journey south begins, somewhat reluctantly as we have been enjoying the warm weather and we know it is still cold and wet in Victoria.
It was only a short journey from Maryborough to Kilkivan but some well placed caches with good parking enabled us to collect caches on the way. There was only one we had to pass as we could not find a place to pull up. Lots of traditionals, but good sizes and in great condition.
On arrival at Kilkivan we set up camp and had some lunch before heading off to complete the Adventure Lab in town. Then is was off up one of the trails on Mudlo Road through the National Park and beyond. Some great countryside and worth the trip. Again good sized caches in the main in good condition. We got to use our TOTT we are becoming more proficient with but missed one that seemed to be gone.
A big day again, so we both should sleep well tonight!

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache PB1973.

No tennis today so the next best thing to do is to go geocaching with friends Peppa and TMZ59. Decided to chase down caches for a few challenges we have been working on on this road trip.

What a great place for a picnic and a cache. Made our way to GZ and after a short search found the cache. Container rusty so replaced with a plastic pill bottle hopefully to be better to be seen and protect the contents.

Found on 2 June 2022. TFTC, PB1973.

Found cache and signed log. Returned cache as found. Out with patrol14 and Peppa. Beautiful day for finding a cache or two. We have a list and we will follow it. . TFTC.

Called in here today with Patrol14 and TMZ59…

I replaced the mint tin with a non camo’d small vitamin container to make it a little easier to find and give it a little more longevity…

A nice drive and we arrived here. Bit of searching needed - I suspect this is not the original cache, but it has been used for years! TFTC.

Find the cache with a log book that went back a significant amount of time, but it was not at all what I was expecting! Signed and returned to its hiding spot. TFTC! A beautiful peaceful spot and nice drive in

I’ve come up here to try and qualify for a crazy Challenge Cache in Cunnamulla… Forward planning, I’m driving L’DeVine, so hopefully no busted tyres today…

I made this detour to do some and didn’t even realise this oldie was here… so I’ve made it my last find before heading back to my list… I don’t think I took the easiest route into GZ but I got there in the end… I will admit, for its age I was expecting a little more… tftc… having never been here before I found the area lovely…

Checking in on old cache. Log is wet...

4/9/21 Find #4988

There was originally a completely different plan in place for today. But the weather forecast made us rethink that - mountains in wet weather are not generally a wise move. So with those plans aborted, it was a case of calling up different locations around and checking their weather forecast. As Gympie’s weather appeared to be suitable, our new plan was for Fangsoki, Pprime and I to head to Brooyar forest and grab some nice old caches, well for Pprime and I to grab them at least.
I am trying not to get too many caches at the moment, so slowing down the finds with a trip like this seemed like a good plan… maybe. I mean there were only 4 caches on the list for me to get, so that shouldn’t upset things too much, right?!
So we piled into Harvey the CRV, who I was assured would cope with today’s roads just fine.
Having completed the caches we were wanting in the Brooyar State Forest, we headed next to Kilkivan for a spot of lunch, before making our way to this one - doh!! So the boys had added two extra caches just for me. And being such nice old caches, I couldn’t refuse!
We made our way from Mt Clara back into Kilkivan and around for this one. The road was actually better than I had expected, and even paved towards the end.
Of course I parked the car so my exit would be made directly over a giant ants nest, so had to quickly manoeuvre it and park it further over to avoid any nasty situations, before heading in to make my find.
Thanks for the cache PB1973.

31-Aug-21
I decided this was one of my target caches for the day yesterday, and once i'd ridden the tredley up to here, it was an easy decision to call it one of the last two for the day.
It's incredible to think this cache has been here so long, all alone in this national park for so many years..
Now there is a whole slew of them leading up to and continuing past here, so this cache simply becomes another park and grab on a numbers run of the area.
Except for some dedicated cachers that single out old or unique caches like this one to find.
Hats off to even discovering this hidden oasis perched up high in this national park.
After a while scrambling around the undergrowth poorly avoiding spikey vines, i caught a glint of blue.
How has nobody mentioned the 'throwdown' cache yet. Surely this isn't the intended cache container. Such nice big sizes up until here on newer caches and now an eclipse tin for this oldie that started this here trek to here?? Definitely needs a bigger more appropriate container. A dodgy guardrail eclipse tin felt almost painful on this old beauty.
And nobody's given a favourite point in over fifteen years? What the?
Please allow me to be the first then in happily endorsing this cache as being most worthy of the showering of favourites.
Thank you powellbruce for taking me up here yesterday.
Something i would easily do again even just for the epic downhill bike ride afterwards. Oh my that was fun.

Road trips for The Bromance have been few and far between since Covid-19 raised its ugly head so, with the recent travel restrictions now eased, Seffnjarah, Swellerfungus and a full complement of JezNDez headed off to subject JezNDez's new acquisition Max to the rigours of its first The Bromance geocaching weekend.

After staying the night in Goomeri we headed out next day to continue exploring the Goomeri and Kilkivan areas. Although we had visited this area back in May, we still had plenty of caches left to find up this way, including this one.

Having tired of finding park and grabs at the side of the road we looked for something a little more interesting. This old cache fit the bill nicely. Logbook stamped with The Bromance team stamp. TFTC

21-Aug-21
Completing a multitude of backlogs from a Bromance trip in August 21. Apologies for the late log. This was a bromance run in between COVID lockdowns, and somehow I didn't get to logging these finds. I was with Seffnjarah and a full team of JeznDez in the new jalopy they had recently purchased. Thanks ot the CO's for the great caches we picked up. Caching roadtrips with friends are the BEST!

The undergrowth is starting to make it difficult to reach the cache. The vines are very clingy. Thanks for bringing us to this loverly area.

After camping overnight in Kilkivan I headed out this morning along Mudlo Rd. Another great country drive with good containers and good coords, which always makes the experience nicer.

No problems finding the caches and once the logs were signed all were returned as found.

If a cache needed attention that was done too.

Thanks to the CO's for placing a great series in this area.

too bushy and prickly

28-May-21
After our walk in the national park at Mudlo Gap we continued a bit further up the road to here, probably didn't need to walk up that last hill since we now drove up it... J used the facilities while I dove into the bush in search of the cache. Before long he came in to help as I was wandering in circles getting tangled up with low hanging vines and prickly weedy creepers. Kept moving between a few different rock piles but it was very overgrown and difficult to see in the thick bush. I started to lose hope for a while when I saw that the last few people had failed to find it, but persevered just a bit further and was rewarded with a glint of blue.
The sometimes hated "micro in the bush" was dragged out of its hiding place edged in between several rocks. Would never have spotted it but for the tiny bit of colour revealing it's location if you happened to look close enough to the right spot.
This really needs patience and perseverance for sure.

Hi there PB1973.

We found your cache **"Mudlo View"** today. (This makes our find count 25573).

Another day caching the Kilkivan area. It was a really nice drive today, made even better by not having to wade through long grass to find the caches. Our tally today was 27 caches & 0 DNF's.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** Definitely not a D/T of 1.5/1.5
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Nothing

Thank you for adding to our adventure.

Day 2 of the New Year event at Kilkivan. Having a wonderful time meeting new cachers as well as catching up with some old faces.
Today Ms Maddy, TripleTurmoil, CHAMAD and myself piled into the car and headed out for some new caches, and to collect some oldies. There were a couple of things which happened today, these will remain firmly implanted for quite a while to come. These events added to a super fun day with great caches and fantastic company.
This was a quick find, log signed, cache replaced as found.
Thanks powellbruce for the cache.

After a big day of caching yesterday and a good night sleep it was time to do it all over again. The plan today was to grab some caches along Mudlo road and get a couple of ftf’s. Same team as yesterday and Willis007 offered to drive, we also had a new inclusion, 4Hawkers joined us today. A fun morning and a lot of chatter along the way as these three girls can talk alot, lol.

The trip was entertaining, the variety of caches was nice and they were all found in good condition, the scenery was varied and spectacular along this road; what an awesome area, thank you.

Thank you to all the CO’s for placing caches along this road, I really enjoyed the drive along here and finding your caches.

At this picnic spot there was a convergence of caching teams. The cache stood little chance of remaining hidden and if we were all focused on global domination, the planet had little chance neither.

It also seemed to be the spot that everyone got a bit of phone reception again and we all realised we were back in touch with nothing again. We should have accessed the cache from the road but took the bash route instead. tftc

Another oldie found on the way to Kingaroy today with my youngest behind the wheel. We admired the view when we pulled up, and then she stayed at the car (no way she was going into the scrub Razz ) while I went off to hunt for the cache. Great reception up here as I received a message and a PAF while I was hunting! Our second day caching around Kilkivan and what some amazing scenery. Drove to the end of Mudlo Road before turning round and starting to cache our way back. As a previous finder said, it was easier to go down the road before going into the bush for a quick find but unfortunately the log is soaking wet but I was just about able to sign my name. Walked back to Tuna and geowife was watching a couple of Rose Robins in a bush. TFTC PB1973 Smile

The mission of the road trip for Pprime, Fangsoki and I was to find the old caches in the Central Queensland area and this one was on the list.

Fangsoki had been here before so he chilled out at the picnic table and let Pprime and I head to the cache. We decided to take the road instead of the direct approach and that appeared to be the best option.

A bit of searching before we spotted the hiding spot.

Kilkivan Cache-up stay Day 2:

After an early start thanks to some squawking magpies, it was a drive up Mudlo followed by a meander through Woolooga, Miva, and Gunalda before heading south and visiting Lower Wonga, Glastonbury and Brooyar Forests and then Widgee before returning to home base.

A variety of great caches were found along the way, plenty of wildlife spotted and some amazing rural views enjoyed along the way.

This cache was found amid a bunch of new caches placed along this road for the event. After a short search among the wet foliage from last night's rain it was soon located.

Decided to have a day of going, in lieu of riding. Bit of a battle to find it. The log was very wet and I could only write the date and part of my name. Unfortunately I didn't have a replacement log. Great spot. Thanks
