Found while out with The Swaggies. Sad that the railway is no longer.

Stopped by today with the intention of checking and hopefully replacing the cache, but there was a workman having a "break" in full view of the location hide and I couldn't wait around.

01-May-15
I headed into Gippsland with Stemicmitsar to tackle a particular night cache that we'd been wanting to do for several weeks and also pickup whatever else we could whilst there.
We obtained the first piece of information easily enough but as we were about to proceed onto the platform, we heard someone on the platform going absolutely 'off his nut'. Lots of shouting and swearing and it sounded very much like he was trying to kick a door in. We decided to leave and try again later in the night.
We returned and gathered the second piece of information, calculated the co-ords for GZ and proceeded there to commence our search. We looked in every conceivable hiding place, not that there were many that a small container could be hidden in, but no cache was found.
I then saw an old man heading down the platform towards me and decided it would be best to leave. I looked around for Steve and he was no where to be seen. I headed back to the car where I found Steve. He had gone to fetch fresh batteries for his torch.
Reluctantly, we conceded defeat on this one. I really think that this cache needs the CO to check that the container is still in place. I have a feeling that the 'caretaker' may have found it and removed it.

Headed back to Korumburra with Team Crackers, after completing the rail trail.
After arriving at the caravan, we decided to do a few more local caches.

Gathered the required information, and enjoyed walking around this very well kept station.
made our way to GZ where the cache was located, signed and replaced.
Many thanks for placing this cache, piggysue, for us and others to find.

Got pulled up by caretakers. Had a good look prior to that with no luck

28-Sep-14
I enjoyed following the clues to see different parts of the station. Solved the clues quickly but it was a muggle friend (probably convert now!) who had his hand on the cache. Wind was blowing wildly which didn't help when I was feeling so crook but a find always helps. TFTC

I was in town today to do some work and needed to kill some time so here I am. As it turned out I had the meeting I was going to here at the station in the Tee Room. What a great little find.
Oh, I found a cache as well, how about that?
Thanks for the cache and for bringing me here piggysue

Didn't know this beautiful building existed, even though I have been to this township many times!! Unfortunately I could not get to GZ as there had been a train just depart, and there were too many muggles around. A job for next time I am here. Thanks for bringing me here.

19-Mar-14
Checked all is well but have updated information as all signs have been removed from the station. Cache is present but due to workmen activity in the close proximity unable to check if the cache is in good order but certainly still hidden. In fact if the workmen hadn't been taking a break I couldn't have checked at all. Every time I look at this station I enjoy the beautiful architecture.

29/01/2014 - >3.30pm - Didn't find it - with dgfb33 & geogran1937. We thought we had all info required till we got there & found no plaque. Then we found that we should have looked at a photo on the computer as the plaque is no longer on view. Gave up on this attempt as we didn't have enough information. -- -- -- -- -- It would be handy if the date was put as a hint or even change the BBBB sum to be something to do with the phone number too.

29/01/2014 - 4.30pm - 4th for the day - with dgfb33 & geogran1937. Had to phone non-geo-son to get onto website, find cache, find photo & tell us the years on plaque photo. Once we had that info we headed back & started a more serious prowl. GPS had us the wrong side of the structure but a helpful worker gave us some more info (he was under the impression that cache had gone) & I did a little investigation & found it tucked well out of sight. Thanks to both non-geo-son & worker for help with this one. One thing that made the "did not find" not so annoying was that it was nice & cool & breezy in the shade of the buildings, a nice change to be outside without being cooked after yesterday's heat!

Found it on second visit with ceebee2013 and Geogran1937. First visit was marred by a long and fruitless search for the plaque which we eventually found was locked up in the museum. After a phone call to get computer info we returned and succeeded.

I stopped by this cache to clear out Korumburra of caches. After quickly finding the info required for the first co ords. I struggled to find the plaque. After reading the past log of K_Wolf's i got the required info and made my way to the GZ for a quick find. Signed the log and started on the trek home.

Thanks for the cache piggysue.

I would recommend deleting the offensive DNF log

Find # 2910

Well, its the weekend again and my caching partner in crime SedgwickDave and I decided our regular caching day would be on a Sunday and we were to head out towards Korumburra for lunch, picking up some select caches on the way. Despite winter being with us, it was not too cold and we even saw the sun in patches during the day.

We were hoping to see the train today while we were here today, but due to some technical issues and red tape, the train was unable to run today. The guy in charge was very nice and welcomed us to have a look at the museum and art gallery. Had a quick look and moved on to gather the cache info. Once we put the numbers together, we started doubting ourselves as we had guessed the phone number. Eventually there was only two possibilities, the first turned out negative and after a search of position two, the container was located.

Thanks to piggysue for the cache. TNLN

Found @1249 #2884
Caching about today along the country roads on the way to Korumburra trying out my new toy the Nexus7 with Ahomburg. Do enjoy these bigger drives as it fun to see where the cachers lead you. The weather turn out to be rather nice and a good mix of different cache types found. The 3 type rule achieved once moreWink. A good result today with 20 finds and 2 DNFs, I still see plenty more to grab which will be for another trip soon.

Figured out GZ at home the night before, but I did have to make a guess for AAAA. I was correct.Big Grin it turn out but while checking to confirm this assumption we bumped into a volunteer who mention why the train was not running today.... The reason, government red tape, nothing more then that, so sad. An impressive setup and well done to all the volunteers.[^] The cache was found with ease and help form previous comments in logs. Nice hide, I like it. [^] TFTC piggysue Only one more to find in the series now.

is this some kind of sick fucking joke? After spending 30 minutes looking for it it was no where to be found. P.S it is not in the hole in the ground. Needs work!

Thanks for leaving a photo K Wolf. This should help searchers until I can rework the numbers on the 5th March

17-Feb-13
While the cache/hide is all fine, the information required to find it is now missing.
The brass plaque has been removed from the wall, and the required telephone number is not an obvious find.

The cache text/clues will have to be re-developed or re-written based on information that is currently in place.

For the moment I have included a photograph of the old brass plaque - since the station-guy allowed me inside to photograph it.

17-Feb-13
Arrived at GZ and parked out the front of the station, walked around, back and forward, up and down, but didn't find any sign of a brass plaque or any obvious phone number. Was about to give up when I noticed one of the station doors was unlocked and music playing inside. After knocking and waiting I looked up and saw a guy driving his car down the platform from the other end, not sure if he lives there or was the station master or what, but when he stopped I was able to ask him about the missing plaque. Seems they took it down to put up the old-fashioned-timetable that now takes up the wall space where the information required for this cache used to be. But he kindly let me inside to see the old plaque and take some photos of it, and when I had that info, he pointed out the stations phone number on a door-poster next to the notice board.

Once I had the required information, GZ was easily calculated, and only a short walk away. The GPS (or my numbers) were a few meters off, but since there was only one obvious hiding place anywhere close, I took a breath and leap-of-faith and shoved my hand - unseen - into the dark hole and pulled out the cache. A very cool hiding spot, so it's a pitty the start of the cache is missing the required info.

This is a magnificient old station & with the absence of plaques, the phonebook & google gave us the co-ords.TFTC

11-Dec-12
Hmmm... I found GZ within a 3m error. I searced 20m on every side of GZ and found no commerative 100 year plaque and no phone number. Was unable to figure out co-ords to final GZ.

A lovely (hot) sunny day with no school and the day off for day1976 - perfect day for caching. Our day started with a morning rush to get out of the house, then calmed down as the day progressed. At 4:30 we finished our hunt with a stunning 14/19!!! (stunning for me (: (:)

No phone number, no plaque?? A lovely station though

Could only find half of the information at wp1 which meant we had nowhere to search for final cache. So this is really a Did not attempt rather than a DNF - may need to change the information here in view of the previous log that a noticeboard has gone over the other plague. We also searched down at the Coal Centre village but this did not have the required information that we could see. Frustrating!

This station brings back memories. Chatting to one of the "staff", and were told that there is now a noticeboard where the second plaque used to be. A bit of a chat about the history and she thought that the station was originally earmarked for Dandenong but built in Korumburra by mistake. A quick search online found the date we were looking for, and moments later had the cache in hand. TFTC!

Having only half the co-ordinates isnt really helpful but a quick scout around the other building had it in hand.

Headed out tonight with C@H for a night cahing run across to Leongatha.
No muggles about at this time of night. Found the first plaque easily but couldn't locate the second plaque. Used a bit of intuition and fllowed the GPS to a likely hiding spot. Didn't find anything there so searched some other spots. Eventually came back to the original spot and found the cache a lot further in than expected.
Signed the log and on our way.
Thanks for the hide.

I couldn't find the answer for the first part of the coordinates - even a couple of SGR workers who asked if they could help had no idea (even though one knew of another SGR cache location!). # 8 of 19 for today. Got to the station and sent M with the walkie talkie to get the clues. Sat in the A/C to calculate the GZ, but before we could continue our search, a 4WD arrived and one muggle entered the building while the other waited outside. Could this be another cacher? After waiting for about 10 minutes the 4WD left allowing us to begin our search. iPhone was bouncing around a little so waited for it to settle before zeroing in on the hide. TNLNSL. TFTC. KeMs

What a grand old building - with lots of workers and a train tooting and moving! I do remember something about the mixup from when my parents lived here years ago. No wonder there has been some friction between the towns! Took lots of photos and enjoyed exploring. Found the cache at 1055hrs after "taking the plunge" (against my better judgement). I really enjoyed this one. Arrived at WP1 and walking into the station to be greeted by the station keeper. He asked me if he could help me and I said I'm looking for a plaque, as a took a look around and then pointed to one and said, that looks like it. I briefly explained geo-caching and he said is it like a car rally, I said yeah a bit like that. He informed me he had a car rally through there a few months ago looking at the same plaque. I got the needed clues and headed to GZ. The dog over the road started barking a lot and made it difficult for me to loiter in the area. Eventually the dog shut up and I retried the cache after looking in the same spot a few times. TFTC.

It's certainly an impressive train station. Some locals told us there was a social function held at the station some time back, and it was revealed that Korumburra station was actually meant to be built at *Frankston*, not Leongatha. I don't know either way, but it certainly is a massive overkill for the tiny number of trains that would've ever gone through here.
