Did not find it, looked at trees in 30m radius

Today I visited Bellbird Grove to complete the Golden Boulder AdLab and to find a couple of old caches in the area. I remember coming here when I was younger and we came to Brisbane to visit my grandparents. We would pack a picnic and set it up on the grass. Then we would play in the creek and go for a walk and listen to the Bellbirds that were everywhere.Today I didn't here any Bellbirds singing, unfortunately, but I still had fun climbing around in the creek. Finally found the cache I was looking for. Thanks Snowman48! What a great spot to hide a geocache.

Hunting this oldie for a while and today I finally had an opportunity to venture out into this area to collect. Was a wee bit tricky & I over thought it expecting it to be higher than it was . Cache found, signed & returned.

I have to admit, if not for a challenge or two Im working on, this cache wouldnt have grabbed my attention. But thankfully it did, because this is a beautiful little hidden spot and I can see us returning to enjoy it further. As we drove in there was a lone piper setting up at the top of the hill to practise. Then at the park itself was a Celtic band in full swing. Couldnt help but dance along to the harmonious melody. And then the trifecta was finding the cache (or De did) in its pretty hide. Special!

Hop, skip and a jump and found nicely hidden. Thanks for the hide!

Today i suggested to my husband we go for a little walk and a picnic after and of course some caches on my to do list . Our target picnic area was near Vee Tree GC623E but the gates were closed to cars and after walking up and down some steep roads to find the caches there we made it back to the car and i saw this cache nearby that had a picnic area. We often look for picnic areas by where a cache is located and they take us to really nice places and of course this was no different. We absolutely loved this place and after our picnic we headed off to find this cache which we found after a short search. There were a lot of people having a lovely time here but still heaps of place for us to enjoy the serenity. We will definitely come back to this lovely picnic area. Thanks for taking us here and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy

Geo daughter had a party to go to this afternoon which left me with a 4 hour window of me time. Planned a georide from Ferny Hills through Samford conservation park, along Samford rail trail, up and over Camp Mountain, down to Bellbird grove and back through upper kedron. Lots of pushing geobike up hills but had a great time. TFTC

Snowman48 I found your cache Melvin's Rush on 21/6/2023, 12:30 pm. This is my find 5653 and find # 5 today. Found it after a bit of a search. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

After lunch in Samford, we took a drive along Mt Nebo Road. This was the only one targeted today but I will be back. I always like coming to this park. Thanks to Kolour for replacing it. Thanks Snowman48. All good with this cache.

Took me a few minutes with the GPS going crazy but found it pretty quick once I just put my phone away. Good spot!

With Kolour this morning, we headed back here after a DNF last year. Kolour had tried to make contact with the CO, however, hadn't received a reply. We decided to leave a small sistema at gz, it's in a cosy little nook at the base of a small tree, it should be high enough from menacing flood waters, but not too high that the terrain rating wouldn't make sense.

02-Apr-23
Willis007 and I looked for this one last year and with a couple of earlier DNFs and no luck for us then, I messaged the CO to see if we could replace it. Unfortunately, I didn't hear back. Being such an old cache, we decided to replace it - a small Sistema at the base of a small tree which will hopefully survive any future floods. Tftc

28-Jul-22
Not sure if it's still there Sad

26-May-22
Given the flood detritus in the area and the water level mark, I'm not sure if this one survived the recent downpour.

29-Jan-22
Last find of our short get afternoon out. I was without a device to search with today, so was relying on the other half's iPhone which was only somewhat helpful once we reached GZ. Despite the lack of clarity around where to search, I really enjoyed scrambling around the embankment. I managed to make the find just as I was beginning to become embittered with the search, which was just as well as the humidity was really getting to both of us.

TFTC.

With five under two week old puppies at home, my opportunities to go caching have been limited…

So, thanks to Project-GC and trying to fill my Hideen by Month Calendar, this cache was a target for me today… a nice oldie to be sure…

There was only one other car in the carpark, so an overcast Monday was an ideal time to visit… Arriving at GZ I was initially hesitant to cross over, but then I put my big boy pants on and across I went… so after I spotted the cache…

Tftc… I’m not entirely sure, but I don’t think I’ve ever been to Bellbird Grove before…

It was fabulous to get this one today. This is the only cache placed in July 2005 in all of Queensland. So it is a critical part of my Twelfth Challenge plan!

Given that the July 2000 cache (GC40) was found on our anniversary holiday to Belgium, I decided that it was fitting to find this with my wife today. It proved to be a nice decision as we spent some time together (with the hound) on a beautiful day, took a stroll plus a yummy lunch.

TFTC Snowman48. Great work!

This evening during COVID-19 lockdown, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I decided to take a short drive to Bellbird Grove for a walk after working from home. We first took a walk around the Turbal Circuit, walking along the creek, and with still energy left, we took a walk around the Golden Boulder track. We both had memories of having visited this area several years ago, in particular seeing some of the old gold mine cutouts.

This was a rather nice spot, although we'd left visiting this cache towards the end when it was starting to get dark. We bush bashed our way and descended through to the creek, and it took 5-10 minutes of searching various spots, before eventually coming across the cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. It was only once we found the cache, that we then saw good stairs joining the creek with the grassland park, and hence exited via that route. Thanks Snowman48 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was good to have found this oldie 07/2005 hidden cache, with it being one of Queensland's 500 oldest yet active geocaches.
Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/jesswrigley stamp.

I found a few of the caches in this area back in 2014 and 2015, in the early days of my geocaching life and was immensely impressed with the creativity on display. I have been meaning to come back ever since and visit a few more along here but each time I head out this way it is either before sun up for the start of a long hike, or afterwards when the legs are just too tired to make an addition geocache visit.

Today I found myself out this way trying to suss out the final location for another cache. After no luck there, and with plenty of energy and time on my hands, I stopped by to visit a few of those caches on my to do list.

The picnic shelters were all fully occupied at the time of my visit by none of the attending muggles were wandering around this side of the park. Thus I was free to duck off down to the creek and search for the cache without fear of being observed. A bit of rock hopping across and along the flowing creek and I was soon at GZ where the cache was located without incident. TFTC

I stopped at a few traditionals that I had saved, or not yet found, up here.
The last times I have driven past the area have been closed, finally, it was open.
Approached the cache and spotted the SPOR

Thank you for hiding this one

13/4/21 Find #4713
I had an afternoon free (after having to wait all morning for a plumber to come to check out a leaking roof), so decided it was high time to tackle a few of Queensland’s oldest 500 caches that I still had scattered locally. A check of the map revealed some of those available nearby.
Having made my first stop, I asked maps to direct me the quickest way to the next cache. Unfortunately it decided to send me on a goose chase instead, and took me towards a road that did not at all exist, despite its constant complaints to me to turn down that road. And when I ignored it and made my way back in the direction I knew would get me out here it still took a good 10 mins to stop asking me to take that specific “road”, despite trying to send me down multiple roads that would lead back to it.
Good thing I know my own way towards Mt Nebo and Bellbird Grove, and after that 10 min delay, I soon found myself pulling up right by some rangers.... with an ammo box of all things! Looks like we aren’t the only ones who use those!
Darting off out of their view, I headed down towards the creek and began my most enjoyable creek hopping until I arrived at GZ, where I found the cache in the likely spot. It was only while signing it that the mosquitoes decided to come out for a feast, I hadn’t noticed them at all up until that point. However that didn’t deter me at all from stopping for a few more photos of the area before finally making my way back along the creek and up the bank to the car (the rangers had left by this stage).
Thanks for the cache Snowman48.

Found it. Felt like giving up after a 4am start & almost 55km on foot & bike. Time to head home.

25-Apr-20
The plan today was to do a few caches around Enoggera reservoir and then come down to bellbird grove and do this little area. After a 6 hour hike, some cache exploration and grabbing 8 caches prior, I was getting a little tired.
But I wanted to see bellbird grove so I continued my run down to check out the area. What a cool area lots of open areas and even a few trails to walk around. I decided to grab this cache and make it my last and then come back another time to finish off the area.
A nice little walk along the river bed to find the cache and all was good. Thank you.

Grateful for the opportunity to come to this beautiful place. Tftc.

Last cache of the day Smile

This one was on my list because it is one of Queensland's oldest 500, and because it helps me with the Jasmer challenge. Today was the day to go out and grab her.

After a short navigational hiccough, I parked the geomobile close enough to GZ and wandered in. The GPS really did bounce around a lot - I spent far longer looking for this cache than I thought I would.

Eventually I gave up and started playing in the stream, releasing my inner child. And that's when I saw the cache guardians on the other side of the bank. I laughed to myself and went in for the goods. Ahh yes, there she is!

Signed the log and returned as hidden. Very clever, though I'm not sure how this one has managed to survive in the floods. Another oldie in the bag, another hidden month ticked off, I was feeling rather chuffed and decided to call it a day.

Cache and log are in good condition. TFTC - TB visit

15-Dec-19
Had plan another day caching with my Geobuddy Grannysmith1947. She woke up not feeling the best. So change of plan headed Southside to pick up two very old caches for the oldest and finest challenge. Plus some other caches for other challengers. And some that were just to close to me.

Ended up finding 10 caches for today. This one was a extra for the day.

Sorry for the generic post

Found this one after dropping daughter to a party nearby. This would be a magnificent spot once we've had a bit of rain. Will be coming back here. Signed as Team Nelta.

Out with team Nelta. In the area for geokid's birthday party, why not cache? Trekked to GZ easily as there's been no rain for ages. Cache location was quickly spotted by The Goose. TFTC.

#4455:
This cache was very special for me, because I needed to find it in order to fill in a burning hole in my Jasmer Grid.

Getting here is, by the looks of it, very easy. But the same can't be said if you rely on public transport! The nearest bus stop I could get to was a 3.5km hour walk away. I ended up walking such an indirect route to get to the cache!

GZ was such a truly lovely place. It was dead quiet, disturbed by only the crunch crunch from turkeys and kaws of cockatoos. Not too sure I agree with the hint, but I soon spotted a suspicious spot and unearthed the cache. TFTC, and have a favourite for the wonderful area.

On my walk to the cache, I saw a python in a bush! I got as close as I dared. First time I've ever seen a snake in the wild.

This is my 226th Jasmer Grid Filled - Jul 2005, which means I have now completed all of the years 2003 - 2018.

Great second find. We could have made this so much easier for ourselves. We parked in the wrong spot and went through the wrong way. But we got there in the end.
This is a hidden gem of Brisbane. We will definitely be back to explore more

13-Jul-19
An otherwise domestic weekend, but with an early morning start I have a couple hours to "get out and about" - so with coffee in one hand and a GPSr in the other (having driven here safely), I wandered over the fields and through the dale (is that what a dale is? Like a gully? I dunno - this metaphor isn't going well). Cache found no issues at all. 14 years eh? I'll take that!
Thanks Snowman48 for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #6723}* Cool

We came to this beautiful area today for an Australia Day family picnic. We haven’t actually been here before - it is such a nice spot! It was double nice to find this ‘old’ cache nearby.
We walked the dry creek bed and found the cache nicely tucked away.
Thanks to all concerned for placing and maintaining this cache and adding more fun to our day.

My 500th. Wop woop! And of all those 500 where would i have chosen to do eleven in one day but here. Consistently the most interesting caches all in a row. Thank you Brisbane!

Been here once before with the geokids, at which time I pointed out the cache hiding spot but didn't sign the log. Came back and made amends today. Mozzies were out in force, but it was a quick dash across to the hidey hole, before walking once again across the wet and grassy field to the car. Thanks Snowman48, and wingaap for recent maintenance!

Went for a bush adventure with Lexingtonla and her little geobub. We had fun practising our walking over lots of exciting rocks! And finding the geocache treasure was another joy to be had! Tftc Smile

Dora the Explorer! and I were in the area today picking up a few selected caches.

We made the pleasant stroll to the cache location and enjoyed the walk up the dry creek bed until we arrived at GZ.

The cache was found pretty soon after reaching GZ.

The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.

All is good with this cache.

Out for the day with nikid1. I hadn't been to this area before & it's such a beautiful area, will definitely be back. We made this one much more difficult than it needed to be & almost jumped the fence before we saw the gate... I love the cascading creek, the water is crystal clear & rock hopping is fun. Nic made the find whilst I was looking in the totally wrong area.

Out caching Wingaap Drive with KerriMG when we decided a pit stop would be nice. What a fabulous area. Walked along the creek looking high and low for this cache when I finally ventured a little further and found it tucked away safe and sound.

Our second last cache for our Sunday drive to tick a couple off our "one day" list. This was the main target today, it is needed to colour in another month off my Jasmer. A little surprised this month has sat unfound for so long. After a bite to eat we took the walk over to GZ and after a short search we had the hide in hand and log signed. Sunday. We were out and about today for a picnic with some family members. Discovering this lovely spot was fantastic! We had a young muggle with us today and as I checked my phone for any nearby caches, I called out that there was a cache just a few metres away. Young muggle couldn’t believe his eyes when he helped discover this container and when we opened it, there were “treasures”! Thankfully for us there was a pen (well, there were 3, but at least one wrote a little). Young muggle had a ball and this was his first ever cache – I think we have a new recruit! Razz Thankyou for placing this cache as we also just realised that this one helped us for the Jasmer challenge. Quick find and replaced as found. Loved the area.

This was the 1st of 2 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***Snowman48***, for showing us this place. Smile
