A three day trip to the Nation's Capital from Adelaide for a couple of St John Ambulance events and activations. Luckily with a little time as well to explore Canberra and find some (mainly solved puzzles and AL) caches.Today despite the 34C I managed 22 caches in 4h, plus an event.Whilst at the event, this cache was pointed out and it's a nice old one too! So after a little searching another name was added to the long list of finders!Tftc Tankengine
We are spending a few hours this morning in Canberra at the National Aboretum this morning before heading back to Melbourne. This was a reasonably quick find once some muggles had left the viewing platform. Thanks to Tankengine for the cache.
Years ago we could not find this one but today with the help of the CO we changed a frown into a smile. Thanks TE for the help. Kutgw
With this lovely little area to myself today, I wandered down the trails and got to searching! The hint was a huge help in narrowing my focus and it wasn't long before my hand brushed a familiar container whose log could be signed before anyone else arrived to take advantage of these lovely views!Another classic Tankengine cache added to the tally; I briefly toyed with the idea of gunning for first place in that ongoing contest only to check PGC and realise I was well and truly left in the dust (and unlikely to make up the necessary ground in the limited time I was available for the remainder of the month!)Guess I'll settle for a solid container in a neat location... can't complain! Thanks to Tankengine for placing this one here!
Thanks Tankengine! I finally got back to to find one I logged as a DNF a number of years ago
On a nice walk with GeopupContainer and log book are in good order.Nice views from GZ.TfTC
Found It!Nice spot with a nice view! The cache was a quick find thanks to the hint.TFTC
First to sign the new log. Looked like an idiot trying to find this one Great for my mindfulnessFound 14 July 2024
I was back here today for a work lunch. Afterwards, I came for a walk here with the other woman from the office. There was still a lovely view from up here Thanks for replacing the cache, Tankengine!
Decided to check on this, and the platform had indeed been replaced. So placed a new cache!GOOD TO GO!!!
I spent quite a while searching here, to no avail. Then I noticed a pile of construction rubbish to one side. I think that the grating that forms the lookout was ripped up during the week and replaced. The bolts holding it down were still shiny and clean; the wood on the foundations was all freshly sawn. If there are more DNFs soon, it might be worth checking...
Didnt expect to find a couple today but it was a nice treatNo pen so got a picture
Second cache of the morning, and happy to say this one was found by the three-year-old son of our muggle friends! Who then couldnt stop saying lets go find more treasure for the rest of the morning.Delightful spot, in any event, for some facturas and a little vitamin D. Thanks!
We chose this spot to have some Argentinian tea and pastries we bought from a local lady. Great spot to break the fast and catch up with friendsThanks TE

Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Our first visit to ACT in that time. Our last day in Canberra today the plan was to complete as many in progress labs as possible and visit the National Arboretum. The day was a little overcast, and the plan went awry when we had a DNF at Brindabella business park, then got caught up with the Virtual at the Arboretum. But all in all a fantastic visit to our Nations Capital facilitated thanks to the GeoBash.TFTC Tankengine
With our housesitting dog in the National Arboretum. Time to look for some caches. Nice found. Thank you.
Today I dragged my best friend to the Arboretum to do some caching. For the most part, she hated it... too much walking, and largely not walking along the paths. I think she actually enjoyed the adventure and just didn't want to admit it, I'm sure we'll be back as an unbeatable duo soon. This is a beautiful spot for a picnic!Cache was found quickly and was in good condition. Thank you Tankengine for the cache.
This place is stunning. Thanks for a cheeky little hide and for bringing us down here.
Suscoe's last day in Canberra for this trip. We enjoyed the Geobash, catching up with friends and meeting cachers that we have never met before. We even met more today at the Arboretum. The weather has been great, a sunny and mild day today made for pleasant caching conditions. We enjoyed the Botanical Gardens, The Arboretum, parts of Woden and Featherston. Thanks to Tankengine for this hide and nice view, a favourite.
Found during the Mega event in Canberra over the Easter long weekend. Our team comprised courtneyrose_, Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, Freddo, gridge98 and Team Waldron, signing the logs as ABP to save time and space in the logbooks , or with our individual caching names. Enjoyed a great weekend away finding a rewarding range of cache types, d/t combinations, cache hides and retrievals. Thanks for the cache Tankengine!

TFTC found with Crack n Lee Lee today whilst exploring the area. In Canberra for the mega event. Beautiful forest, nice and cool especially on such a warm day
A thoroughly enjoyable half day spent at the arboretum today. Great views and a really awesome investment in recreation here TFTC Awesome little spot, was a bit hazy with the bushfire smoke but had cleared by lunchtime enough for this cool pic.
Thought we would check out the Arboretum to see how it is maturing since our last visit in 2017. The plantation layout seems a bit odd to us, but Hey ! what would I know ? Anyway, we managed three caches and a couple of stages of an AdLab before melting away to a hopefully cooler location. Muggles took no notice of our antics here. All good at GZ thankyou.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA5.
Over here for Canberra Mega from Western Australia picking up caches and meeting like persons. TFTC logged as WA6 (Geotrakka Meme28 Burns345 ic_nothing cirrus_wa and Neva2old)
Embarking on a week long mega adventure in the ACT and its picturesque surrounds, I've teamed up with an enthusiastic West Aussie crew: I C Nothing, Meme28, geotrakka, and Burns345, with the occasional cameo from neva2old. As we traversed territory, I was enthralled by the rich variety of caches this new hunting ground presented, turning each discovery into a memorable experience. Our group engaged in friendly competition at each stop to be the one to claim the find and shared countless laughs along the way.Together, we marked our triumphs in the logs as WA5, and on the rare occasion WA6.Thanks Tankengine for placing Himalayan Hideout for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 15:26 on 27/3/2024.This is find number 8279 for me.
Day 3 of my Canberra Mega adventure. Out caching with the members of the WA6 crew. The day looks to another sunny day. Very happy to claim a smiley here . WA6 crew - Geotrakka, meme28, burns345, Neva2old, I c nothing and CirrusSome logs signed as N2O or WA6This is my 12670 find Thankyou Tankenginefor placing and maintaining this cache.
Another beautiful sunny Canberra day. Out and about with our WA5 team Geotrakka Burns345 ICNothing Cirrus_WA and Neva2Old. Logs signed as WA6. Apologies for the generic logs. I cannot get over the views from all areas across this land! Canberra is really beautiful!Cache found with no issues. Cheers
Very happy to be here for my first Mega event from WA. Out to fill my grid and find some high favourited caches. Lots of laughs catching up with old friends and making some new friends along the way. Signing as a team - WA6Some logs are delayed and out of order - Apologies for that- its been hectic trying to keep up! Many thanks Tankengine for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures.
#6418.This was probably my favorite spot in the Arboretum. We found the cache quickly with no muggles about. We hope to be back here soon for another visit, this time armed with a picnic. TFTC!
The view from here is amazing . I love that no matter what way you look there something new to see . We did end up finding this one on the second attempt . There was lots of people around , however were pretty sure someone had either moved it from its correct location or had issues placing it back due to muggles . We did check the hint and placed it back where the hint indicated.
found on a lovely day with the geokiddies and some friends. the gps point is off by quite a bit, but the hint is very accurate. thanks for the cache!
Found after a short search, took longer to replace as the muggles decided to arrive in bulk. Thanks for the cache Tankengine
Beautiful forest, with the lovely chain link tree in there as well. We had lunch at the picnic tables up here. Awesome!
Cache all in good condition. TFTC Tankengine.

I had flown down from Brisbane to Canberra late on Thursday night to meet up with Dez (JezNDez) for an extended weekend break including an expedition in the Jagungal wilderness with the sole aim of hunting a FTF on a new virtual cache at Valentine Hut. After hiking a total of around 37km over Friday and Saturday and an overnight stop in Jindabyne Saturday night, we headed back to Canberra today for a full day of caching before I had to jump on the plane back home.
There were a few newer virtual caches that had been published since my last visit in May 2022, including one encompassing the area around the arboretum, and I was keen to visit during my remaining time in Canberra today. Our explorations took us close to GZ so we stopped in to hunt for the cache. There were some picnickers enjoying themselves a short distance away and Dez acted as decoy while she enjoyed the view while I set about searching for the cache, It was soon spotted and I relocated myself to be able to make the retrieval without being spotted. Mission accomplished and the logbook was signed. TFTC

Decided to enjoy the warm day and go for a walk where we hadn’t for a while. Found this one easily enough and it was away from the curious onlookers. TFTC.
I’ve had a few looks for this cache over the years, never looking hard enough because there’s always people here. Found it this time, but it was Aramil that located it. TFTC
Quick easy find, thx to the hint.
Unexpected stop at the Aboretum. Was really just looking for a toilet stop on the way through. Loved what we discovered, besides 2 quick caches, & good coffee & cake, loved the trees, plants, sculptures, even the toilet was impressive when we found it.

This is my third trip to Canberra this year, and day two of the trip. I have met up with oz_bean_counter, and today Pprime has driven to pick us up and cruise around Canberra grabbing geocaches I couldn't ordinarily walk to on work trips and such. A nice warm-up before heading to the Snowies tomorrow!
Today it is warm and we head out west-ish to this little patch, drawn mostly by this older hide. We'd parked among loads of other cars, admired the Wide Brown Land, and now headed into the forest. I pondered if there'd be a bloke having a rest in there, and if so, we might see him-a-layin'. Violence was threatened in response to my terrible jokes.
Down the track it was shady and cooler in the thick plantation forest. But also popular. The presence of an actual party right where we wanted to be wasn't so attractive. Though, it turned out they weren't *on* the lookout, so Prime insisted we could sneak in and make the find.
He sure did go *in*. Scooched right under while I stood nearby, ready to hand down a pen or grab a logbook. He found it quickly and I don't think any muggle noticed. By 14:45 logbook was signed, Prime was upright and the view could be admired.
I was also keen to look closer at the trees. Not a species I'd otherwise encounter, I'm sure. On the way out, we stopped to enjoy the ghost tree installation art piece too. Small world; the man who made it lives on the Gold Coast and has done welding for a project my Dad had going on last year.
With the trees hugged, the artwork enjoyed, view looked at and old geocache found, time to head off. Ah, all a good adventure today in the Territory. Thanks for sharing this place with me, Tankengine

The first of many caches for my birthday holiday in Canberra. This one is one the list because… for some reason it’s cool. It’s old, its a jasmer, it’s got heaps of favourite points, it’s got a view, but or it’s near something that does. Either way, I guarantee I had a great time grabbing it. Thanks for making my birthday awesome!

A day out and about in Canberra with oz_bean_counter and Captain Terror celebrating, laughing and having a LOT of fun. Picked a bunch of favs or olds as targets today and were not disappointed. Him-a-layin-finding. Yeah our jokes don't improve.
Thanks Tankengine for entertaining me at this location.

Quick find on the way to a nearby event and some yummy Bratwurst. Narrowly avoided some muggles but it gave us a chance to soak in the great views of LBG and the fountain going full blast. TFTC Tankengine - love the alliteration!

International Geocaching Day and weekend away
Day #1 (20/8) - Attempting a NEW World Record!
When I heard that we were going to attempt the world record, I just knew that I needed to host an event for it. After seeing 'LilDonna_' was hosting a regular event, I decided on a CITO. So, my CITO was my first of three events today. They were: a CITO, Regular and CCE. After the fun of the clean up, it was off to Junee to clear up the caches from there once again which was eight finds. It was great fun and next onto Wagga for LilDonna's event. I arrived early because I knew I had to leave for Canberra shortly for the CCE event via checking into my motel. All talk Geo was had at LilDonna's event and I am sorry that I needed to leave so soon. After my 2h46m drive I checked into my motel and 15min later I was off to the next event which was the CCE. All talk Geo was once again had and lots of games played. Afterwards, isopeda and I found some nearby caches in the dark before we went our separate ways. I hope we did brake the WR!
Day #2 (21/8) – Sunday
After a late start, I headed out for a day of caching around Canberra, a bit of shopping at the Belconnen mall and night church in Tuggy. For caching during the day, I mainly focused on older caches, new LGA’s (for GC5KB4J) and a few AL’s to round it off. After church in Tuggy, I headed over to the centre of Canberra to find some caches that needed to be found in the night as so muggles don’t find them. Then it was time to get some sleep.
Attempt #1: 10:55am ish
Well, after finding the cache at the top of this hill, I headed over to this one. When I arrived at GZ, there were people taking in the view and others who were cooking things on the BBQ. So, a no go this time. I'll try again later.
Attempt #2: 3:40pm ish
After finding some nearby AL's, I returned here for this one. Good news, no one was at GZ so it was a quick find. However, as I finished signing the logsheet, muggles showed up. Thankfully they were only there for a short time before heading off so I could rehide it quickly. Now onto some more AL's before heading to Tuggy Church.
Some of the caches I found on day #2 & #3, I signed as JM. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTE's and TFTC's!
