Grabbing a few caches while passing through on the way to the Canberra Mega.A quiet little lane which made finding this GZ easy. Finding the container was a little harder, that was after I got the scare of my life. Being short and after I read the hint, I got game and put a stick in, to have a possum jump out over my head. I then needed a TOTT to retrieve the treasure. Given a fav, as its one I won't forget. Thanks The Sundowners for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
No trouble here today, lucky Ive got long arms! A pleasant diversion off the main road this evening. Thanks for the cache The Sundowners
In the heat of the day this area felt decidedly snakey so both walking and reaching was with a lot of trepidation! Fortunately a bit of a developing cacher trail here kept things just on the right side of safe and cache was soon in the fingertips, retrieved and signed! Thanks for bring us out here a nice detour on the way back to Sydney.
I am heading to Cape York in a month - I am flying up but a friend from Canberra is driving to Cairns and I am meeting him there got the last haul. He has offered to take some gear up, so after driving to Yass last night and collecting quite a few caches I headed to Canberra this morning to drop it off. Plenty of time for caches on the way and a nice little run down the old highway on the way home.Second one of the day and parked short for an easier turn around. Quick find though shorter cachers may struggle here. TFTC The Sundowners
On my way to spend a couple of days exploring caches in the ACT I detoured to make a quick find of this cache.
Thanks The Sundowners for placing and maintaining this older cache for icybeetas to find on our way into the ACT en route to QOGM in Longreach.
It was good to get off the busy Highway and there was only a little bit of water across the road today getting to this cache.

A last hurrah for 2022 caching with The Rats today- into and then out of Canberra on some geotrails. A number of different caches were tackled on a hot day. TFTC!
We needed a TOTT just to make sure on this one.

Took advantage of the public holiday to a bit caching with steeba as we tried to grab a few final caches before the end of 2202. Despite the heat we had a great day.

While still based at Yass we meandered around different localities finding caches. Yours was one we targetted and found. Our thanks to The Sundowners for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
After a great visit to Shellharbour parkrun volunteering to as marshal I left home rather late with a full packed car for a long weekend of caching. Took matrass, boat and walking/climbing gear so prepared for most situations. Slowly made my way through the highlands to pick up pieces here and there and then a quick run towards Canberra. Most of today's planning however was just outside the ACT but close to the border . Picked up the trails around Murumbateman and then towards Hall. Got pretty warm along the day, I think I saw 38 at some point. Luckily no long walks and all caches found quick, thanks for putting them out there!

We had to collect this whilst in the area, poor cache, sitting out here all along. Nice find whilst in the area for the Queanbeyan Mega. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.
A decent haul of caches along a powertrail was the agenda for today or so the powers that be informed me . Along for the ride in micaparamedic's fourby we were joined by Earthbound Chief & Control as well as papi4506 and GeoTurtle56. Up and down, we explored what we Victorians would see as highways but what the ACT has deemed to be parkways.
A day of laughs and camaraderie ensued as we sought and found what the ACT had to offer by way of highway based powertrails with the odd extra cache in a shopping centre or puzzle thrown in for good measure. Chalk up another day where the haul tipped a ton. My thanks to the COs that have placed these caches for us all to enjoy.

Good parking & good hints helped with quick finds along these busy roads.

I made a late decision to go for a lobby caching road trip today, but boot wanting to go into the busy CBD of Sydney i instead chose to go into the remote regions via the great southern road.
These scattered drive by caches along country roads are much more enjoyable to find than many micros.
Thanks for the cache.

Cache container was damp inside. We dried as best we could and put in a moisture absorber.
Set about collecting all the caches along the road north to Yass today - found 20 of 21 targeted.
There is no way I'm sticking my hand into any hole I can't see into, employed some tactics to ensure I didn't grab a guardian instead of the cache. Got the impression that I was on private property most of the way along the road. TFTC The Sundowners

Found with nissan 65 on a few days away caching. Log signed and returned to its hiding place. Thankyou for the cache .
Logged this one on a hot morning last month during Summernats. Apologies for the late log and hope I have the date correct. Although the road seemed somewhat private, had a chat with a nice lady walking her dog who knew all about the hide and seemed to have no problem with the semi-regular arrival of cachers. TFTC The Sundowners
Wednesday 6 December 2017 - an overcast damp Summer afternoon in the low 20s. MuggleHusband drove around to keep Nonna occupied while I jump out of the car at each stop to find 11 from 11 caches. The highway was extremely busy so we quit before I took any risks crossing roads to come back another day to find the rest along this stretch. Quick and easy find. Loved going done this dirt track and seeing the countryside. TFTC The_Sundowners.
Wondering back home after the Alexandra event. 2877 so far for us. Thanks for placing this cache The Sundowners, without cachers like you we wouldn't have a hobby. Signed log. took nothing, left nothing. Please take a bow. we did many caches today and most if not all were in good condition and actually there. We cache in a lot of country towns, the caches on the open roads are usually there but the town ones are a mixed bag. The cache owners around here take a bow. really well done.
Cache 2770 on 26/8/17
Darksidedan and I headed out to Yass again to collect a few more caches on a fabulous sunny Saturday morning. We both found around 40 caches for the day - a good haul given we were not in a hurry and headed back to the ACT at lunchtime. Another fun filed day with lots of chatter and birds. If not otherwise indicated, all caches found in reasonable order and in short time.
First cache for the day for me with frost still cracking under y feet. This was a tiny cache in a big spot!
Thanks The Sundowners for the cache!

Decided on finding a few caches around Murrumbateman and surrounds plus a few on the way. TFTC.
Parked in the shade and walked back a bit to look for the cache, tried one likely spot no, tried the other, yes! Took a little ingenuity to obtain the cache, but soon had in hand. So hot and tired now, been a long day in 32 degree heat. Tftc!!!
On a hot day, been out all day, finally on our way home and called past. Hot and tired we at least could park in the shade. A bit of investigating then improvising to reach and log was soon signed. TFTC!
Found this cache at 12.35pm while in Yass for the weekend picking up some caches along the Barton H/way. This was a nice country lane with the grass so high as well as the hide. Had to use the old trusty milk crate for this one. The famer up the road came by and said "Oh looking for that thing over there"

I had to jump up to nab this one (shortie) and was hoping that there wasn't anything else in there other than a cache. All good, no surprises although log was soaked so we added a new log sheet and plastic bag. Found with Bluewattle, thanks to The Sundowners and TFTC.

A two day trip to Canberra to pick up a few caches and to attend an event.
With a good variety of cache hides, we were kept busy.
After reading recent logs, we replaced the container and added a new log page and swag.
Left old container and log. All good to go.
Many thanks for placing this cache, The Sundowners, for us and others to find.

Felt around a bit where the hint indicated but couldnt seem to find anything. But then ahhhh there it is! Just took a bit of perseverance
The log was a soggy MESS and impossible to log. All the signatures would be lost by now and it should be binned. I put a temporary piece of paper in there, but I assume it is just going to get ruined again. The cache container has degraded a bit and is no longer waterproof at all.
Thanks for the cache however, nice one out on a road I never knew existed Even my map said the road ended near the start, so I thought I had a long walk ahead of me!

Numerous maintenance request in the past couple of YEARS and never done.
Needs maintenance ASAP. The log is completely unusable and container is far from waterproof so its just going to get wet again. Thanks

Our last for today on our impromptu mini geo road trip to Murrumbateman. Great little lane, but please keep an eye out for "Scruffy" the little dog from the first farm. He ran right up to our car (apparently he does this regularly) but we stopped in time. Had a nice chat with the farmer. Cache easily found with JetFuselage. Will need some maintenance - lid torn and log very wet. Great spot though. Saw some enormous kangaroos as we continued down a bit further to do a u-turn.
There was a puddle, but our new Subaru Outback enjoyed the splash. (A normal car should get across no problem). TFTC

This is the twelfth of 32 caches we found, as we made our way, around an anti- clockwise circuit from Gungahlin, through Murrumbateman into Yass and back to North Canberra. We encountered a variety of hides marking significant locations, including a number of guards with foreign sounding names, some military and memorial sites, birds, dogs, racing car drivers and of course quite a few C2Y caches, marking our route. Absolutely no puddles anywhere today.
Our thanks to The Sundowners for bringing us here.

Wouldn't you know it? The weather is nowhere near as nice as it was during the week. Oh well, it's not raining. There's a bit of sun occasionally, and a very crisp, lazy wind. (Lazy? t's not bothering to go around me ...) I've done my washing (three loads), prepared my GPS, shopped for some food, and now the GeoSchnauzers and I are going caching. We'll head to the northside, and do some caches just outside the city.
No 11 of 14. Top spot for a cache!! Thanks!! I was game to put my hand in, and, indeed the cache was found. No snakes, rats, mice, wombats, cockroaches!! Good one, Sundowners.

A warm, sunny Saturday meant a good geomission was in order . So that meant the geosquad consisting of myself, Rapidlywild and both of the FurfacesLL were assembled to head off for a great days caching around Yass .
Next stop for us on the way back to the Can after a big day's caching around Yass was this one. The FurfacesLL ladies had already found this one many moons ago, so that meant RW and I were on our own with the hunt here. After coming prepared with a number of geotools to scope out the location, we had the cache in hand shortly after [^] BUT! Peweeee! We had to throw out the old log as it was damp, mushy stinky and completely black with mould. We dried out the cache as best as we could and have replaced the log with a spare I was carrying, as well as a tiny ziploc bag. As long as the bag is resealed properly each time, that should keep the moisture out until CO performs the much needed cache maintenance.
Thanks for the hide, The Sundowners

Well the geosquad today consisted of both FurfacesLL ladies, specimenX and myself. Todays target: Ladies Attack On Yass !!!!
After a bumpy start, we started our adventures and on the road we went. We had planned to hit as many caches in Yass as possible plus pick up whatever we come across along the travels. Between the 3 of us, we had a range of caches that some had collected and others hadn't so by the end of the day, we had visited all active caches in the Yass region.
Today was a great day, lots of laughs with a great group of people and I definitely look forward to the next mission with the group
Todays travels continued and we had now made our way to "Beyond Blue". This was the last cache that I needed to collect today, location was easily spotted. We arrived with some geotools to assist us retrieve the cache however didn't require most of what we brought LOL. Better prepared than unprepared I guess? Cache in general could do with some CO TLC. Logging duties completed and time to move on to collect one more for specimenX before making our way home after a nice big caching day.

The cache was located to reveal a soaked logbook as the Container lid is broken. We added a piece of paper but this container needs maintenance to make it water tight and a new log. Thanks Sundowners for bringing us somewhere new.
I found this on 13/10 ... on my way home from a weekend quilt retreat
... noticed there was a cache right near where the retreat was, so I decided to find it, and a few others, on my way home (sort of - just a few slight detours) ... did my "homework" B4 the quilt retreat and ended up with a list of 8 caches ... and I went looking for, and found, them all ... got the last one just as the pouring rain started - lol
This was the 7th ... Didn't see any puddle to cross - but the road looked like it had been graded so maybe puddle got filled in/dried up/whatever ... nice hide, but easy to find ... Just wasn't sure I wanted to reach in and feel for it with the ant standing guard on the edge! ... but the ant moved so I got game and stretched up and grabbed ... Oddly enough, I remember the ant, but am not 100% sure if I yes able to sign the soggy log (probably not ... I think 2 of my finds that day had logs that were just squidgy mush and I think this was one of those 2)
(The joys of not getting a chance to log stuff the same day I find ... lol)
TFTC ... Interesting little side track ... nice change to actually drive on something other than boring bitumen ... lol

Bit of an all-round disaster this one, container lid has been eaten by something and now leaks, thus the log is a soggy mess...
This one we picked up on the way home to Canberra. The log was soaked, bag broken and could do with a little TLC.
It was funny Mrs Geo Junkies hopped out of the car and Mr Geo Junkies told the kids that we were leaving mum behind, resulting in one of two balling his eyes out saying "we cant leave mum, i love her!". Mr Geo_junkies just drove up the road to turn around! Oh the fun things you can do to your kids!
As it was, Mr Geo-Junkies had to come to the rescue to locate this one as gravity was against me.

A quick detour off the highway and this one was in hand, although the log is quite damp. TFTC
Wondered where this one was going to take us when we were driving along this track. We arrived at GZ and thought how are we........then we saw what tools were available that others must have used in the past. So after a couple of sweeps we had this one in hand. We also has a near by farmer do a ride by on his pushy.....we wondered if he was questioning what strange things happen here. Log damp. SL TNLN T4TC The Sundowners
