Wow..

29-Feb-24
Can't see it

21-Jan-24
I cant see any and dont trust to climb without a friend/member of family. I will back another day with someone for our safety.

01-Jan-24
We came, we saw ....we did not have the required equipment Sad Looks like it would be fun (though nail biting) if the correct equipment was available. Nice tree none-the-less Smile

31-Dec-23
frankly I'd rather try avoid being injured when I'm geocaching I think the high number of writer notes should tell you something maybe you need to change this and make it a little bit easier for people they don't require any specific skills to find just a thought have a happy New year

03-Dec-23
Sadly Could not even spot it from the ground, would like some help please,

16-Oct-23
Too wet too cold too old I need a climbing partner

05-Aug-23
Knew I wasn’t going to get this one but I didn’t even find it.

11-Jun-23
We came. We saw. We did not conquer.

28-Apr-23
Found the tallest tree and almost certain I see the cache way up the tree that I have no physical capacity to climb that far. I hope the police next door have their heads looking down st computers and papers rather than at somewhat mad people up high in trees: David

28-Apr-23
Too high for me! David

21-Apr-23
I can’t seem to find it ,I’ll have a look again later on, any hints? Lol

11-Apr-23
Saw it upon the tree high

10-Apr-23
Up a long way up thanks. Not climbing it!

10-Apr-23
Found it but not up for the climb too high
Tnx

My 300th find! Or should I say my TREE-hundredth find!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

But seriously, I’ve been longing to finally conquer this fantastic cache since I first saw it, but I’ve been waiting for a milestone to do it.

Finally at the 300 mark, I headed over again with HEEMAK123 who climbed it previously. This time I donned my climbing shoes and headed up the tree, determined to sign the log.

The climb although intimidatingly high was actually not the hardest technical climb past the first few few holds and I quickly found myself at the top. I signed the log book and closed up the cache again ready for the next finder. A very empty logbook for how old it is, and very much worth a favourite.

I will update my log tonight to include the pictures I took up the top.

Happy to report that the cache is in good condition and the logbook nice and dry.

Tftc

19-Feb-23
It exists

19-Feb-23
I have a lot of adrenaline writing this log. With some route guidance from HEEMAK, I was able to get to the top as a free climb. Some fairly sketchy bits, but a brilliant fun and exhilarating climb. I only decided to attempt this after I saw a log about being able to climb with no ropes. Definitely worth a favourite. Be careful when doing this with no ropes or ladders. TFTC

19-Feb-23
Witnessed HEEMAK and KDosVerH123 make the climb but decided I didn’t have the required energy to complete this climb.

Will definitely be back very soon to conquer this one.

11-Feb-23
Too high for us today

10-Jan-23
Its up a tree, not climbers are we. Nice spot though.

03-Jan-23
i can't see cache, also cannot climb

20-Nov-22
Hip hoorah for Sui’s ‘Happy Birthday Tree” climb for the gang that arrived to celebrate . Cake and oohs and much neck craning as the red shirt ascended to the heavens. The home made ladder was secured to ping the first branch. But after that can’t say Sui made it look easy but he was impressive in that floppy footwear. That huge tree has grown huger and demands a rope so when it’s not windy and there’s a gang around I’ll be there! Thanks for the FUN and jolly good time and generosity- a fave from me!

19-Nov-22
Came down to the Mega and spent the afternoon collecting a few caches around town. With the cache in hand, we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache Sui_001.

The following TBs came through for the mileage : Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football, Merlin's Steed, Cito 2007-time capsule, Greek Gods Geocoin - Poseidon, Magic: The Gathering, Ixalan Treasure Piece, Sweet 16, Survivor: Paris

Holy Angola!! This tree is epic! Amazing to be able to watch the CO smash out this climb on behalf of the crowds. Huge thanks for the phenomenal effort. Thanks for getting us all together and thanks for the cache.

28,809. Found with minniek during our Whittlesea Mega Adventure Trip. Alternatively signed as fitzy & minniek, F65 & MK, MAFS, WCCG or similar depending on who we were with at the time.

Yesterday we headed off on our next Mega Adventure. We aimed for Oxley to camp for the night, but then we were offered a free camp behind the Milawa Pub which we gratefully accepted. A great dinner/drinks night was had. Early the next morning we headed off, checked out the Showgrounds, then came into town to start some serious caching. We then headed south to attend the three events down here, and filled in a few counties along the way. Sui was very generous (as he always is) and allowed us to claim this find. That was a LONG way up.

Thanks Sui_001 !! Fav Point of course !!

**This Cache:**

I visited this cache during the Parkville Mega event in 2018, but quickly realised I had no hope despite being a good tree climber without any sort of ropes or very long ladder to get started!

Fast forward a little bit and I was finding a new cache publication not far from home in Yass when the owner came and greeted me! It was Sui_001, who I soon realised was also the owner of this Melbourne cache! Big Grin

We have been good mates ever since and I have looked forward to the possibility of this event for a very long time since he first floated the idea!

I am pretty confident that if I wasn't injured, I would have been able to get to this cache with the help of the ladder that Sui_001 had graciously set up, and followed him to the top. I wouldn't have been able to get it without his set-up however, nor would I have been confident enough to set it up myself!

It was unfortunate that I was not able to attempt this climb today due to a back injury and trying to limit myself as much as possible to these types of movements, given that I do climb roughly 98% of the tree climbs I log. However the CO has specifically welcomed my log on this particular occasion and encouraged me to log a "Found". I will accept this offer under these conditions and thank the CO for all his help over the years by providing me with more tools to help me reach other difficult caches in the past Big Grin

Well done to Sui_001 for the climb today, and thanks for your kindness and organising this get together!

Thanks Sui_001, favourite point from me

**Today:**

I was riding solo today! The other Adventure Boys all had other plans and caches they wanted to get, but I had my eyes set on some "ahomburg" challenges around Lysterfield, plus a few other interesting caches along the way including a virtual, some gadget caches and a few puzzles!

A long drive out this way from near Whittlesea, but well worth it! Plenty of hiking both on & off trails, but my hayfever was the worst it has been this entire season.... wasn't the best but I managed to push through as much as I could whilst taking plenty of rest breaks!

Today was also the hottest day of the trip, excellent sunny weather without any threat of it going sour, but this meant that I had to keep up the fluids and try to find shade when possible!

After all the hiking it was time to attend 3x event types for an evening of socialising! This is where the Adventure Boys rejoined! We first attended the CITO, then the event with an epic tree climb, and finished it off with a CCE near the city.

Thanks to all the CO's and event hosts who made this day wonderful!

18-Nov-22
Arrived in Melbourne to attend the MEGA Event at Whittlesea with woolwood9.
We came over a few days before to do some geocaching in the area first!

ww9 and I had a great time and enjoyed watching the tree being climbed while at the birthday event.
We couldn't climb the tree ourselves so will not claim it.

*Thank you for helping to show us around different areas and adding to our enjoyment*

18-Nov-22
Friday and still so much to do around town, in the hills and in the adjoining districts, where to start. I will say that despite the changing weather conditions every 9 minutes, this has not dampened my look on this area. it is fantastic and such a great little main street and with so much going on. A plan was set for today and with my caching buddies off we went, chasing caches all over the place. There are some fantastic views from up in those hills. We got in some great caches today and covered a very large area of caches, thanks to all who put these out .

We started with some of the challenge caches and a drive around the area doing some labs. We were unable to check out some caches due to works being conducted in the areas, so we will have to come back another time.
There were a few events on in the Melbourne areas, so we planned our times around those.
Thanks for the great caches today, we signed as TQ5 or as individuals at the events.
Thanks to sui for the event and the climb here. it was not an easy climb but one that is achievable still, I did end up with a sore neck from the climb, lol. Thanks for the cake and drinks, a favourite point coming your way.

18-Nov-22
Wow, this is one neck stretcher of a hide let alone having to actually climb to the top of this tree. From the very moment commencing with the rope ladder, I held my breath as this superman doned in red assended up into the heavens.
Raising the rope ladder to an even higher level was scary enough to watch but superman kept going up and up in his trusty Birkenstock loafers and in no time at all had hand on the prize. Decending was still daunting enough and extreme care was taken coming back to earth and I think most people had a sigh of relief when this happened ???????

Thanks Sui_001 for your generosity in giving permission for all in attendance to log your cache after you unbelievable climb to reach the container, hope the tree doesn't grow too much higher in the coming years?? and only wish I could give more than one favourite point for your efforts and kindness here ??

18-Nov-22
This was incredible! The CO put on a wonderful birthday celebration for the tree, we stood and watched with amazement as he bravely made his way up the tree. He even took a photo of us below from way up there.
Thank you Sui_001 for letting us sign this as part of the Sui Gang.
An FP from me.

18-Nov-22
All I can is yep that’s a bloody big tree!
A big thank you to Sui_001 for showing us your home made ladder. Your amazing climbing skills. I’m not going to say you made this look easy but gees you were impressive to watch (although I did look away a few times).
An even bigger thank you for allowing us to log this as part of the gang. We were ready to catch you if required
Thank again

18-Nov-22
Well what an amazing event. Sui is an amazing awesome and just the best host.

Anyone who attended this event and claimed this cache without giving it a Favourite Point. Should hang their head in shame.

The effort that sui went to so everyone could claim the cache was above and beyond.

Thanks sui

HAVE A FAVOURITE POINT...!

Awesome well done Sui favorite point awarded Cheers

Whittlesea day 1

Found with fitzy_1965.

We arrived in Whittlesea just before 10am after staying overnight at a free camp in Milawa (great schnitty at the hotel).

A quick recon of the show grounds and we headed out for some caching.

A nice quick find here today.

18-Nov-22
Travelling around Whittlesea and surrounds came to the birthday event for this tree climb cache. It is now legally allowed to drive 17 years and a bit. Sui_001 what a great host. Did his impression of a koala climbing the cache tree and signing it for all of us. Thanks for the great event and cache

With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache Sui_001

Has to get another fave from me but only will allow me to give you one a cache

On a journey across the lands of Gon^walk~n we left The Shore the day before Wednday in the month of Miktn the company with Sir_phil and Fr^d Dr~d! we came across this tree house hidden near the path we were following. FD wanted to Trash it but SP talked him out of it.
We then drew fingers to see what we should do. With fingers drawn it was SP that won and the suggestion was to make a mark on the parchment hidden in the container.
SP found the magic stairway to the stars and the ascension way made. With a tap, tap, tap of his heals and up, up, up he went.
SP put the only mark we came up with which was an "X#!", FD has a weird turn of phrase, but it seemed like a great idea at the time. Sometimes FD deep seated ambition to destroy anything that he comes upon is hard to withstand, I sometimes wonder how SP can do that.

18-Nov-22
Happy birthday tall tree! In addition to birthday cake, Sui 001 generously gave permission for all party goers to sign the cache and he would climb and sign for us all .. such a great host .. a favourite point awarded for total awesomeness.

18-Nov-22
Tall indeed.

tree.cache.up.
takes someone who is
crazy.insane.wonderful.

Only one person ticked all three boxes this afternoon.

I do not claim to be any of those things.
And so I will not claim to have found it.

18-Nov-22
Found with a very large group at the event. Happy Birthday to this very very high cache. Thanks for the fun Sui.

Also found with the help of the CO at the 17th birthday event. I had grand ideas that I would sign the log myself but that was quickly dismissed when I arrived!
Travelled back to my home state of Victoria from New Zealand to attend the Whittlesea MEGA (and maybe visit family who live nearby!)
Thanks for the cache, Sui_001

Attended the event here…..sung Hippo Birdie Two Ewe to the cache…..almost had a heart attack when the CO was wobbling around on a homemade ladder part way up the tree…..had to exit the scene before he got to the top due to aforementioned heart attack likelihood. Can’t bring myself to claim the find but I hope you survived the climb!

18-Nov-22
Found this one today with the assistance of the CO. Wow what a climb!

Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache, it was great to listen to one of the first people who recalled his finding of this one years ago.

15-Oct-22
Too adventurous for me

15-Sep-22
Given the GPS was giving me three good options, and knowing I'd have the strength to only climb one unassisted, I made the choice to no attempt it.

That said, I do have a ladder that fits nicely in my car

13-Sep-22
Not prepared to climb that high!

28-Aug-22
EVENT!

Fairly sure I know which tree it's up, but I couldn't even spot the cache.

11-Dec-21
Tomorrow on Sunday 12 December 2021 Strathdon House and Orchard will be opened as a new community hub. These photos show that maybe the Tallest Tree in the Forest was being climbed 85 years ago!

03-Oct-21
I can't even see it though

03-Oct-21
Found but no way I can climb up there!

Found it with Swilksy24 TFTC

19-Sep-21
Sad life. I was exited about this one but... it was too high. Then i figured that i need a ladder or a rope to get up so i just stoped looking. The ones that found this one... well done.

11-Sep-21
Should’ve checked the terrain rating first… photos look amazing

28-Aug-21
Too high up but beautiful tree and forest Smile

26-Jun-21
In the area and wanted to have a look for myself. What a tree! Maybe another day

19-Jun-21
Our daughter lives climbing trees. The neighbours pine next door would easily be as tall as this that she climbed all the time but has a few more branches than this one. She was super keen, she even handed her phone over but as parents we couldn't let her do it. Maybe she'll come back one day without us watching. As long as she never tells us.

22-May-21
What a wonderful group of trees. So majestic. But looks like a hazardous climb with obstacles waiting to ‘swipe you left’

19-Apr-21

Not sure if what I was looking at was actually the cache or not but regardless wouldn’t have been able to get it, cool hide thanks!

18-Feb-21
I could see it but I cant jump that high! Finally sitting down and logging a few of my finds. After seeing a post on facebook a friend and I headed out to see what we were up against. Yep... no chance. Id love to have a go at this with the proper gear, Ill just have to find someone to help me.

20-Jan-21
Sized up the task, will ponder for future attempts with a support team.m

17-Dec-20
I originally found this cache with my Mum heymissjo, but now that I have my own account, I am logging. Thanks for the cache.

17-Dec-20
For the past few years I have cached as part of "team heymissjo", but now I am old enough to have my own account so logging the find. Thanks for the cache. Out with Mum and The Welder

Oh WOW!

So good to conquer this one, and how cool to have the CO show us around. Beautiful tree, amazing view, and really great to catch up with everyone at this mini event.

I’ll be sending you my next FP for sure

#1886 - 7.10pm

Finally!!

This cache has been on my Bucket List since my very first month in Geocaching, having lived just around the corner back then.

This evening was a rare and incredible experience which was only possible with the CO's invitation and his warm, generous encouragement.

It's funny...
I'd envisaged there being ropes and ascenders today for a technical tree climb.
But free climbing...?!
(gulp!)

It certainly stretched me out of my comfort zone, but it was something that I couldn't pass up.

I'd waited more than four years for this opportunity.
And it was well worth it!

Also being able to catch up with some great friends I haven't seen in waaaay too long helped make this mini-'event' all the more special. It was great to share this experience this with the CO team, BernieH, n0w0rries, Mister Doctor (nice to finally meet you and thanks for the gloves!), Hamfish, Jascat, Heymissjo and a pair of our restless minis.

And to think, I was saturated like a drowned rat just an hour beforehand, when a fierce thunderstorm cell struck nearby while I left work, dumping torrential rain and hail and sending the streets awash.

It was a small miracle tonight's climb actually went ahead.

Thank goodness it did.
I'll remember it always.

Thanks, Sui_001.
Absolutely a favourite!!

Now where's that Bucket List?
I have something to cross out...

17-Dec-20
Checked log boo o and cache condition.
All g. Onward!

17-Dec-20

#750 How exciting is it to finally, after all these years, have a smily face at this giant! Thankfully it was The Welder who decided to take one for the team and made the slow climb up, up, up oh so high! It was touch and go if we would be able to make it. with a late work function running overtime, a tremendous thunder and hail storm that The Welder had to swim through enroute home and two hungry geokids. Thanks Sui_001 for such a great opportunity, it was so fabulous to meet you in person and your delightful other half Meisha. It was also exciting to catch up with Hamfish, Mister Doctor, N0w0rries, BernieH, and Jascat... almost an impromptu event!!

Thanks so much, a favourite point from me!

15-Dec-20
Planning maintenance Thursday 17th dec eve.
Should be there around 6.30-7 pm
Any and all interested welcome

19-Nov-20
Found it but I’m not going up that high as I’m 71 years old

12-Oct-20
Found it but I’m not going up that high but if I did go up there u will see a person there when someone finds it

01-Aug-20
Couldn't get the spare Wink Good adventure - thanks!

31-May-20
Yeah but nah...

14-Mar-20
Had no intention of actually making an attempt, just wanted to see for ourselves. Neither of us have a death wish today, so we'll leave it at looking!

12-Mar-20
given i last visited here three years ago
in light of recent events
it seemed another visit was due

it seems more doable than i remember
but still beyond current capabilities

with half of the hamfish living a few hundred metres away, it seems this one will continue to taunt

01-Mar-20
Came along to see if Mister Doctor and Ronice88 could make it. Without a chainsaw this one is beyond us!!! We enjoyed watching, but until I grow wings we will probably give this one a miss. TFTC.

01-Mar-20
After the CITO there’s things to do BUT today’s approach was foiled in the name of safety. A bit of movement in the clouds and way up there and not enough slings. After fire evacuation orders came, climbing gear was on the list to save but it’s got spread around the state. I’ll be back with a few other tragics sometime soon.

01-Mar-20
Possibly my most visited, unfound cache to date! This afternoon’s effort was under the guidance of Ronice88 after two events in Bellbird Dell nearby.

I brought a ladder, Ronice88 the climbing gear. We made it up to the first branch, but after sizing up the next steps determined this was a 12 sling tree, and we only had 4.

We’ll get there eventually!

18-Jan-20
Came by. Had a look. Figured one less middle aged white guy in the world wouldn't really matter. Realised my will wasn't up to date. Moved on.

13-Dec-19
After seeing Team GBS’s inspirational post and having them make short work of my own tree cache, I vowed to have another look at this one.

Actually, there’s no line of sight to the neighbouring police station, so that’s a plus Wink

With a bike to stand on I made it to the first branch. But the second branch needs a bit of technical support.

I’m going to investigate a Team GBS sling strap...

08-Nov-19
WE CAME, WE SAW, WE CONQUERED!!! We had noticed the D/T rating for this cache and so had checked out the cache page - we saw a whole bunch of lier logs which intrigued us even more as this is not the way we play the game. We had expected to need ropes and climbing equipment, which we didn't have on us with the exception of a sling strap, but we wanted to check out the tree regardless. Wow! - what a great tree!! - with the cache clearly visible at the very top. A T4.5? - yes, that's correct, as indeed it doesn't need climbing equipment. A long pair of legs does help as does a total lack of fear, and so with the aid of the strap it wasn't long before Mr Team GBS had hauled himself up on to the first branch and then the second. After that it was a plain sailing free climb all the way up to the top with a howling wind blowing and a massive black rain cloud closing in on Ground Zero. Mr Team GBS was soon signing the log book while enjoying the swaying ride in the wind, then after having retrieved the Clappy crocodile Travel Bug and enjoyed the great views all around he made a quick descent just before it started to rain.... and then hail! It's so sad to see so many geocachers quite happily and blatantly claiming a Found It on this cache when they didn't even leave the ground, as it completely detracts from the great placement of the cache by the CO and the efforts subsequent genuine finders have put into achieving their well deserved smilie. Kudos to all the honest geocachers who have written some very fun to read DNFs and Write Notes - that's more the style of geocaching etiquette we expect from the geocaching community if not deserving a smilie. Basically if you didn't climb the tree don't claim a smilie - what sense of achievement is there is logging a Found It otherwise? Our only request is if the CO could please delete the lier logs so that we can correctly claim this cache as a resuscitated cache, with the last person who made the climb and signed the log book being T The Treeboy on the 2nd November 2015. In the meantime a well deserved favourite point awarded for a great fun free climb and greetings from Zimbabwe

23-Oct-19
A most entertaining DNF.
We just stood and stared in amazement.
We took a few pictures and left with a feeling of pride that someone would go to the effort of the placement and that some people would even attempt to go after it. Sadly we would never ever ever under any circumstances ever see ourselves in any remote position of ever contemplating taking this on.

Will come back when the tree falls down.
If I could favourite a DNF I would.
“” Best I can do.

17-Oct-19
Stopped by to take a look, having read some past logs, and visit a trackable.

Definitely not one for me, at least not solo and without some proper climbing gear. Might be a lot of trouble to go to for what's now a D1 though... Wink

01-Sep-19
Nice one!

01-Jul-19
This is not dangerous. Leave this. Didn't even see it tho

---

Right. Just checked: The last legit log was 2/11/2015 by T the Treeboy. Since then all finds were Sissi-logs Anyway given the times are changing and fully-comprehensive-cover-mentality seems to be en vougue these days, I might as well Sissi-log this too

01-Jul-19
This is dangerous. Remove this. Saw it tho

14-Jun-19
As I can't fly, I'm leaving this one! Smile TFTC.

10-Jun-19
Yep saw it but not touched it. I’m a rock climber so would have a crack with the right gear! Nice one.

21-Apr-19
@icw - it's not the job of the police to police intentional stupidity. There's a perfectly safe way to find this cache ... besides flat out cheating as many have done it.

20-Apr-19
I'm surprised it hasn't been archived as it is next to a recently built Police Station (Forest Hill) and I don't think the police would be impressed IF SOMEONE WAS INJURED as their job is essentially to maintain PUBLIC SAFETY!!!
