Im in Adelaide for a work trip and decided to grab a couple while out and about. Many thanks to Hurtle for placing and maintaining Lost Heritage. I found it, I signed it, and put it back as found.
Is this Hurtles first ever cache? A piece of SA geocaching history right here; why has it taken me this long to get to? Possibly because I always take the expressway when I venture south. Apart from age, this cache has T3, its a regular, and it has the abandoned structure attribute, this cache has everything! There is an active hive quite close to GZ. You can get around it by approaching from the other side. I didnt have any problems, but if you are sensitive you need to use caution here. Quite a lot of ants too, so get in and out quick!Almost 19 years old, awesome. Thanks for the hide and for keeping it going Hurtle. Favourite of todays finds.
Enjoy a tree climb. An ant was busy biting me while I tried to sign the log.Hurtle, I found Lost Heritage today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
#7545 Its our last day in Adelaide, were heading south in pursuit of more solved puzzles and exotic DTsThis one helps with two challenges were working onThanks for the cache!
Day 4 of our Adelaide trip for the Great Leap Forward mega. After a day in the hills yesterday and the day before, were staying in the suburbs for some other cool DTs and other caches that we want for various reasons, along with a bit of driving for some DT grid holes in our 5th and 6th loop end copy paste A nice DT and an early on cache. TNLN SLThanks for placing and maintaining this cache Hurtle

With some time up our sleeves, we did a few caches.
This was a quick find for us today. Tftc

I've lost count the number of times we've driven past this house and commented about grabbing the cache... but today was the day!
We parked at the gate just down the hill and were pleasantly surprised to have an easy entry into the park, so we didn't have to walk down the road.
Ol made the short climb. Only a few bees hanging around today... and the first find in almost 9 months.

Even that small climb is dangerous in the wet, as the bruise on my thought can attest! TFTC!
Amazing location! Lots of creatures in the tree today (not including us )

I was unable to go to work today due to a migraine last night.
I couldn't be bothered making lunch, so I went for some fast food, with a cache along the way.
I chose this one to get another D/T combo in the stats.
Interesting historical ruin here, I love history.
Anyway, bees were everywhere, so timing this one was key.
Once the climb was made the cache was an easy find.
Cache retrieved and signed with stamp.
Thanks Hurtle for this cache.
This cache brings Goldy's total find count to 1612 on the 5th of September 2022.

Luckily my pain killers had kicked in from this morning for the pain in my back so I thought I should at least give a go once. Cache found and body still intact. Thanks for bringing me here.
A DNF back in July so hoping to clear up a few of them closer to home today. Re-read the description and the update... approached that tree.... surely not... I'm too old for this... but the strength of the call was way too strong to ignore.. up I go (shouldn't really do these on my own!) and YES I have you... thanks Team Hurtle
I have been past this cache many times but never managed to stop, this evening stopped here and made the short walk to GZ, after a quick and easy climb the cache was found and is all in good order. Another one in the series ticked off. If only there was a list to see how many I had done and mapped out.
This evening Davidwazza and I headed down south in a nice clear and warm night to collect a few caches and clean up the area around Happy Valley/Renyella East. In total 25 finds for the evening.
Thanks for the cache

This evening after work, gridge98 and I travelled south to Happy Valley, Reynella East, and Woodcroft. We were driving around the suburbs selecting caches that we both hadn't found. A highlight was our walk in Happy Valley/Reynella East Wetlands. An enjoyable evening to be out and about in the warm weather.
We were on our way home when gridge98 wanted to make a stop to find this one, and so we did. We parked just off the main road, and walked past the lost heritage ruins in order to reach this cache. It was sort of cool to make the very first of this historical and interesting geocache series. The cache is almost becoming an antique itself!
We did need to circle the tree once before making the cache find, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks TeamHurtle/Hurtle for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

After attending the Banh Mi Park event, headed south to the O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park for a bit of a walk. This one was one of a few found during that walk. Found the tree, and the bees, circled around, went up and found a cache.
Thanks Hurtle for putting it here

Really cool spot, was super windy today but has been one of the best spots so far. Theres a cool ruin right next door but be careful of the active bee nest in the tree -Angel & Ruby/ Evans Clan
Found the bees, found the ants, climbed the tree, but didn't find treasure... maybe grass too tall, maybe didnt climb high enough, maybe wrong tree, maybe magiced away! Tf the hide
I’ve just been Mountain Biking near by in O’Halloran Hill Recreation Park.
An interesting piece of history.
I grew up in the area an have heard stories of The Sheidow’s and their descendants.
*** WARNING ***
There is an active bee hive nearby.

Thanks Team Hurtle for bringing me here. Lots of big ants at GZ. Nice and quiet here on 1/1
Climbed up and looked in the spot that matched the hint but no cache was found
The end of 2018 has approached us. Today we spent the day not going to one event but going to two. The first one was planned but second one we stumbled across as we were walking through the city before our dinner booking at 9pm. Once again we got to hang out with our new SA geo-buddies. Which proved helpful as we needed a PAF down here at one point which we now have.
We managed to pick up 9 different types of caches today as a bonus as well, at the second event we realised that we only needed one extra type to pull this off and again the SA geo-buddies were quick to help us out.
In between the events we strolled and drove around Adelaide grabbing what we needed. As we were doing so we came across an Earthcache that was out of this world. Since being down here we here we have discovered a love for these caches, they have now taken us a couple of times to places where we have just gone ‘wow.’ Answers have been sent through the CO for the one we found today.
As we love taking photos of ourselves, we are loving picking up all the Webcams down here, something that we don’t have back home. These are favourite for us!
Our last cache today was the letterbox, we walked the streets of Adelaide where it was really quite, all the party revellers were down near our hotel. Just as it was coming dark we headed back for dinner and fireworks.
Tftc we have loved it down in your city

Had to bring one of the boys down to Flinder's Medical Centre to see a doc. Didn't want me there so suggested I go and grab a few caches. Didn't have to ask twice so off I headed to grab some that I had missed in my last walk through O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park. That done it was time to have the comfort of an air conditioned geomobile and do drive-bys.
Time to head back down but I think I have time to call in any get this one. Mmmm seems a lot of people do what I did as the fence has lots of access points. Great old farm house, pity about the graf. A quick find in the obvious spot.
**Thanks Hurtle for this cache. **

Headed out for a mountain bike ride in O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park and took a detour from my usual trails to find this cache. When I got there I checked the details and realised it may require climbing but after a quick search I found it without needing to climb. I replaced it where I found it with some extra cammo as I wasn't sure where it should be and also didn't feel safe climbing in bike shoes alone.
I have driven past here many many times in my life and knew this was here and today I enjoyed taking the time to have a quick look around. Didn't see any peas or bees today.

Stopped by today with a new cache, just in case it had disappeared again for the 2nd time in 11 1/2 years.
The GZ has changed again, slightly, from 3 years ago and the cache was not insitu...
After climbing back down, I almost stepped on it on the ground about 1m from the trunk. All in tact!
So replaced back in the tree only about 150mm from where it had been knocked/blown from.
Re-covered with some heavy bark for the next finder.
I think Mother Nature was the muggle here, shifting the dead bough enough for the cache to fall out...

Not sure if it is me or the cache has been liberated. It was just after dusk so that might be it. Looking at description, I think I had the right place, a flattened well worn area several metres up, but no cache or camo to be seen anywhere.
Have also driven past this spot many times without stopping - stopped this time and made the find - took note of the bees/hive warning and approached this cache from the west (the hive is on the north/east). Signed the log. TFTC Hurtle
I have driven past here hundreds of times but never stopped. Today on my way past I had some time so decided to go and get the cache.
Found my way to GZ and while I was sussing it out I found the very active beehive, but that was on the other side of the tree!!
I worked out where the cache would be so had to do a bit of climbing to get there, and just as I had the cache a rogue bee decided to attack me and I couldn't do anything about it as my hands were full and I was precariously balanced. It got me just behind the ear then got stuck in my hair so I couldn't get rid of it until I had signed the log and replaced the cache and made it back to terra firma.
There must have been another one hitching a ride as it made its presence known as I got into the car, but thankfully I got it out of the car without suffering another sting.
I love these old ruins and it was good to be able to read some of the history of this one...and I will obviously remember this cache.
Thanks for the 'fun' and for bringing me here Hurtle. [^]

What did we see? Well this cache had millions of flying ants at gz. Mrs Bee was rubbing ants off of her for the next 20minutes

My cache-related climbing activities always seem to coincide with me wearing thongs and this was no different. On approach to GZ I spotted the bees - wow, there were heaps! (see photo attached) Also a smell of honey, so they were hard at work A pretty quick find, right on 11.59pm. TFTC Hurtle
Finally had the chance to pull over today and make a quick grab. No bees around which made it easier another lost heritage ticked off. Tftc hurtle
Snuck in after midnight - a fine piece of reno project even by torchlight
and cache guardians a plenty. Bees, giant black spiders....

Driven past this one knowing it's there too many times. .. so on our way out to dinner we decided it's time to make the find. In our most inappropriate caching clothes we climbed the gate and strolled through the grass filling our socks and mrs Crumbles nice dinner sandles with spikey grass seeds. Easy find trying to avoid the bees nesting in the same tree im climbing. Thinking back to my random bee attack whilst caching in the onkaparinga gorge several weeks prior. TFTC
Ah the first ever TeamHurtle hide. This one seems an ideal one to fill a spot on our 3rd DT grid. And it was in the way home from another Hurtle DT spot filler as well
As I approached GZ I immediately noticed the significant bee activity on the road side of the likely cache location. Probably about 50 or so heading in or out of their hole while I watched. Not quite sure what to do I decided to circle GZ at a respectful distance. After 180 degrees I spotted a location that fitted the terrain stars and looked a great candidate. Only 1 or 2 bees on this side so I spot in, accessed the presumed spot and was rewarded with a container. I retreated to examine the prize at leisure.
A lot on names here in this replacement log. A shame about the fiery end for the original although strangely apt considering the CO's day job?
TNLNSL
Rang the CO to discuss the bees. He told me they have been coming and going for many years. Probably one to be wary of if you have a bee allergy.
TFTC Hurtle for this and for all your other hides
An FP too for the combination of the hide and the cache longevity

Pretty sure I knew where it was just could not access it due to a big swarm of bees!
found it on the way to hide a cache myself. the bees were not to active today coz of the cold.
Finally! Always hated driving past here knowing there was a hide. Went out through the whole area for a good stretch of the legs and a few finds and couldn't wait to get to this one, the run down old building that got the series started.
Was pretty relieved to find out how well hidden you are from the traffic too, I always assumed everyone would be able to just see you poking and prodding. I think this would have been one of my most looked forward to hides that I can now finally rock off! Thank you.

Was a nice hide despite the prickle bush. We left lots of smiles for next finder. Found with team fletch_4.TFTC. TNLS.SL
Well conservatively speaking we having passed this cache since its placement over 7,000 times!!!!
When considering it there has been 9 years and 144 days of existence of the cache, both of us worked down the hill and lived up the hill, the shopping centre at the bottom of the hill was the preferred shopping centre for both adults and children in the house, the movies being shown at same shopping complex were better than what was showing up the hill.
Great to see a long lasting cache.
Found the bees but they were not an obstacle, more of a signal we were at the right tree, and a savage tree it was, Mr Kooka came away with a nice scrape down the arm from a little sharp twig on the trunk of the tree. Didn't notice the TB but the blood on arm was a bit distracting. Great history for this site, very interesting, had no idea about the Pea Factory either.
Thanks Hurtle for the cache and the wander.

Quick find thanks to the hint and help from allister w. Been past many times but never stopped and interesting to read the history. Would be good to see some restoration like the changing station but as you can't park as safely I can't see it happening. TFTC.
Driven past here many times over the years but never stopped before! Called by this morning after visiting our fav fruit barn at the top of the hill. Nice to find my bestie's first ever hide and explore the history in our own backyard. There are some bees here but they are on the other side of the tree and pose no threat. I signed the log (hidden in a plastic honey jar too) TNLN Thanks honey xxxxx
Honey anybody? Drive past most days for year but this is the first time I've ever stopped and had a look around. Thank you, great views
Found it but did other to open cache because of the bees attacking us. These bees actually attacked us. Scary
Because I'm out of Benadryl and not able to buy it here in Australia, I stood back and gave moral support to Moneydork while he searched for the cache amoung the bees. Once he found the cache I was able to stand close enough to lend a hand with logging. Thanks TeamHurtle
Today our plans are to cache Victor Harbour with earthlight & the x trailers picking up caches along the way, we didn't quite make it that far as we kept stopping to grab some of the many caches along the way, all told i managed 67 with no DNFs the weather held out for us today with slight drizzle towards the end of the night finally turning into heavier rain, gwen from the x trailers hit her milestone of 5000 finds tonight and it was smiles all round, it was a great day had be all and another trip is already being planned to get to Victor with no distractions on the way (yeah right lol) i have driven past this one many of times but tonight i stopped to get it, arived at GZ and the hole i peeked into is a bees nest so be careful not to disturb them, cache was quickly located after geowife yelled out some clues. Mr Tardis has driven past here many times, but never stopped to have a look. An interesting site, especially having read the cache notes before arriving.
I stood back and thought about it, and quickly spotted the hiding place. I'm really surprised that this cache doesn't get more finds being near a busy location.
Thanks for placing a cache here, a really nice spot.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Teamhurtle.

Nah, that burn off was nearby but not at gz. The only area burnt at gz is the tree it was hiding under and about 5m of grass around! The tree is still there.
Earlier this year DEWNR conducted a burn off in the park. Maybe that's what burnt the cache?
I received an email from Bob about the fire here. I was thinking he was referring to a fire that was in the park some months ago, but never came closer than 100m to this cache! In fact I had not long ago gone past here and checked on the cache when heading for the nearby Tiger-Muffin cache. All was fine then.
Came back today for a look and would you believe someone has lit up just the gz! Yep, the grass for about 5m all around the tree is cinders! Cache, or what may be left of it are no-where to be seen! Apart from a small blob of blue plastic stuck to a burnt branch!
So, not sure whether the cache was found and then torched, resulting in the small fire, or it was coincidence. In any event I have re-hidden the new container UP the tree in a hollow formed when a dead trunk of the tree has fallen recently.
I have upped the terrain to 2 1/2 to reflect the necessity to now climb the tree, but it is not high.
The new cache is an old plastic honey jar, which is all I had with me, as I didnt expect to have to replace the cache whilst thinking Bob had his marbles in backwards and was at the wrong gc coords! lol As a result there is no swaps in there atm, just a logbook and pencil.
Please replace so it is not in view.
Thanks.
And thanks to Bob for the notification.

A DNF for BFE today as it appears the cache has been burnt in a recent fire.
At least it was Fine Elsewhere today watching the TDU in the Southern Vales.
At least it was Fine Elsewhere today watching the TDU in the Southern Vales.
What a day, left home at 12noon and returned at 1.30am!
In the meantime, I attended lunch at Hackham for my grand daughter's birthday then back to Walkerville for tea for a work colleague who is leaving.
Around all of this, I managed to successfully locus cache at 8 caches [^]
Every time I drive past this spot, I keep thinking that I want to put a cache there! Except today, with GPSr on while driving past, I realised that there is already a cache there and has been for some years
A quick climb through the fence and a quick find, after I skirted the very active beehive which luckily is on the opposite side of the hide and therefore no bees were harmed in the retrieval of this geocache!
It was very interesting to read the history of this building and the area.
I am glad that someone took the time to record the verbal history lessons from an older generation as that information is so important and usually, sadly, gets lost as people die.

Found it. But the TB that was supposed to be there was not. That park has some great caches.
We did this one at night so did not get much of a look at the building. Thanks for the history lesson. T 1 x Coin L N TFTC
Visited today to replace cache container, slightly smaller now. Same place, but have tweaked coords a little. Not one bee sighted today either!
Left a TeamFiresafe geocin also. Still plenty of room in logbook.
