Find# 11571Nice quick find.Travelling for work affords us the opportunity to find the occasional cache along the way. FP awarded. TFTC alex 22 July 2024
Geo hubby went to the right side of bridge, and after looking for a little bit realised he walked passed it soon had cache in hand and did the signing duties. TFTC fun one for the husband
Climbed up and had a good look around, My wife then Shouted "Some people said they'd gone to the wrong side", so backtracked to head down, and There it was, I had walked straight past of not over it????Signed and returnedThanks for maintaining the cache
Wow that took way longer than I than it should have. First climbed up wrong side so floundering around. Geohubby noticed I wasnt getting anywhere fast and went up the correct side with a quick find. I climbed down and back over to sign . The grass is so long!!!! Thanks so much for placing.
#2621A nice grab during my home bound road trip back to Sydney after broadcasting the NRL yesterday. What a great spot and the old school container.. a fav from me.TFTC
Last year Mrs Woodyrothwell and I enjoyed a week in Mudgee and more importantly enjoyed a week of Mudgee wine. This week we are out to enjoy some Orange wine but our last visit ensured we had cleared out all the hides on the roads down from the north.
Finally we were on a new segment of road and at our first hide since leaving Tamworth. The stink of the dead kangabunny that I parked on wasn’t going to scare us off.
I climbed up with the musty skank of dead marsupial peppering my nostrils. I had to put it all behind me and I was happy to not have to turn lots of rocks over because my olfactory senses were under assault. tftc

On the way home from a visit to Mudgee today, I took the opportunity to grab this old school cache. This was a nice little location that had stood the teat of time, and still with an ammo can in play. Fantastic!

Tricky cache was but of a hike through long prickly grass. Recommend doing in long pants. But awesome find
We continued today our tour in NewSouthWales, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.
Thanks to alex for the generation of this nice cache Waiting for a Train (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.
PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.
Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Out caching with Shufflehop, we decided to tackle this cache on a very hot day, rather than ignore its existence. I was more suitably dressed for the terrain, and was hoping that the cache would not be too difficult to find. I headed for the most likely place and was relieved to find the nice big military style cache waiting for me.
Can understand what people mean about the vegetation - worth the climb though. TFTC.
The grass was just too long for me today. I struggled getting in from the side of the road and am all sorts of scratched up from an array of weeds.
Getting this one was my main goal for the day too. All is well however, found a quite a few caches on the way out and a pub lunch in Wellington to finish the morning off was thoroughly enjoyed

I may have had to hike the skirt well above the knees for this one, a good find once atop.
Fabulous spot for a cache and so nice on a sunset. Had to be my fav so far. Nice and dry! I had to download this cache before I got there as I knew I wouldn’t have service (and I was correct)! TFTC!
On my way to Jerrys Plain from Parkes. Stopped of to get this cache on the way. Left some Pathtags. TFTC alex.
Found at 9:49 AM GAFF1.
Didn't expect that sort of a T2.0 - these days the final cache location is more of a T3.0! Especially as I was carrying a very sore lower back
Had to look at the GPSr very carefully to determine where to look and also added to that mix was where would I place a cache? And sure enough after a bit of a scramble the nice sized container was uncovered.
Thanks alex

A little bit of a scramble to get up here, but worth it. I like decent size caches.
Thanks alex

A nice stop on our journey across the country from Adelaide to Brisbane with Davidwazza! TFTC!
Moving from Adelaide to Brisbane, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I decided to drive the long distance to make the opportunity a holiday, taking 12 days and passing through Victoria, New South Wales, and then finally arriving in Queensland. We spent the first few days in SA's Riverland, visiting Morgan, Berri and Renmark; and then drove through Mildura in Victoria. In NSW, we stopped at Hay, Parkes, Merriwa, Tamworth, Port Macquarie, and Coffs Harbour, and then entered Qld to stop for a night in Robina in the Gold Coast.
Today, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I travelled from Parkes to Merriwa. We travelled north-east via Baldry, Yeoval, to Wellington, where we visited the Wellington Caves, and stopped for lunch. We then continued the drive north-east through Spicers Creek, Two Mile Flat, Gulgong, Ulan, arriving in Merriwa in the evening in time for a pizza dinner. Afternoon highlights were walks to The Drip Gorge and Hands On The Rock (Ulan Aboriginal Rock Art), and several of NSW's LGAs were visited during our travels today.
A kinda oldie 01/2006 hidden cache to have visited, and it was nice to recognise a South Australian geocaching pioneer hide here. We parked, and jogged up towards the CO, where the cache was found reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks alex for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. There were no trains about during our visit here, so still waiting I guess.
Note that this geocache was logged with the *Team Warren* Davidwazza/jesswrigley stamp.

Today I was driving solo to Armidale from Orange, so made the most of it by picking up some caches along the way.
I've been driving through this structure for maybe 20 years now & today I got an excuse to stop & have a closer look. Quick find once I stopped trusting the phone & used my instincts. TFTC!

Slowly heading home.
Left Mudgee this morning, and after a few local caches, headed for Young.
Bettyboo3747 and I collected occasional caches along the way.
Since this cache was put out, there does not seem to have been any work done on this line!
Nice to find an ammo can though.
Thanks, Robmc.

Steep climb with wrong shoes and lots of traffic going past made for a frustrating search. Beware of wombat? holes in hill. I’ll come back at a less busy time and with the right shoes. Grrrr!
Of course it is up there. I braved the climb and prayed all the way up that my knee would hold, got the cache and logged and dropped in a trade pack, then put it back and managed to carefully get back down after taking some sunset photos. Thanks for this one, it was a ripper.
Yes! I had the cache details downloaded on my phone this time, so I could actually locate it. I was also on my own so didn't have to worry about holding anyone up. It was just before midnight when I got here. It was a MUST DO on my list of geocaches to attempt on my way home from Sydney.
There was no traffic the whole time I was here but I was ready to switch off my torch and duck down into the eye-height grass if I needed to. The ground around the base of this old never-used railway bridge is very uneven, so watch your step. Very easy to twist an ankle here.

Having found my target caches, It was time to turn north and head towards home. Of course, there was still time for a detour here and there to find a few caches. I parked the geomobile near GZ and made my way up. Once there, the cache was quickly located and the log signed. I love old railway lines. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC
This one sounded interesting so we stopped here and went hunting. It took a bit of searching but then I spotted it. TFTC.
Favourite cache found by far !! The container that it was in was so cool and the area had some nice scenery. Such a cool cache to find on our road trip back home. Woohoo !! TFTC
Found while exploring the area today during our road trip. Thanks for giving us an excuse to stop and stretch our legs. Signed the log and put cache back as found.
7082 located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1420. Once we saw the location of the hide it made us a little wary of any traffic passing by. What a great site to see, an ammo can container. This is what makes geocaching. Cache in good condition. SL Tnx alex

Each year I follow the Aust Solo Speedway Championships which are held over four meetings. This year those meetings are at Kurri Kurri nsw, Undera vic, Mildura vic, and Gillman sa.
It only seems sensible to do some geocaching along the way. It helps to break the driving and I get a lot of enjoyment from it.
Please excuse this generic log as there are too many to do them individually, but I certainly appreciate the dedicated work of all the COs in providing us with this great hobby.

A quick stop to visit this interesting location. Pulled over, jumped out the car and realised where the cache would be. Wearing thongs, I questioned the terrain but thought she'll be right. Zipped up to GZ and when I bent down to look for the cache I spotted a good 6ft brown snake staring at me, coiled up right next to my naked foot! Holy crap, that's waaaaaaaaay too close! The cache can wait for another time!
Oh my goodness, what changed? Strange story, needs more research! Loved the clamber
Pretty happy with myself on this one.
Was driving to Mudgee from Dubbo and saw the structure. Went for my phone as I thought it would be a top spot for a cache. No reception so went for an explore to see and made the find instantly. Cache finding with nothing but a hunch. Made my day. Neat cache thank you.

### Trip to the bush ###
Day 1
We started our trip in Rouse Hill towards the bush region of New South Wales.
Our first stop was in Springwood where we took a little bush walk and found this letterbox in the middle of the bush. We then visited the geological sandstone attraction and informed ourselves about the geological features of this region.
We then continued our trip towards Katoomba where we enjoyed the breathtaking view over the Blue Mountains at Echo Points. We took a little walk and reached the 3 sisters form the originally 7 sisters. Now it was starting to get dark and we continued on to the town to look for a couple of more caches before finishing off the day.
Day 2
At early morning, we relaxed once more for a little while longer at Eco Point before we continued our trip towards Blackheath and Mount Victoria.
We had a little break at Lake Lyell where we visited the dam and had some snacks.
We then continued towards Ryell and high up to Mount Lambie where we were lucky to spot many animals again.
We left the main road just before Bathurst towards the quiet countryside past Peel, Wattle Flat and the historical Sofala. We had a coffee break at Sofala where we drove around the old historic town.
We then continued our drive on Hill End Road and we socked in the beautiful nature. We were lucky to see many animals on the way.
We were welcomed by many roos at Hill End.
We left Hill End and drove towards Hargreaves towards our night stop at Windeyer. We slept at Bushland Tourist Park once again in the beautiful train accommodation. We had dinner at the local pub where we had nice pasta.
Day 3
We had to first free the car from all the ice before we could start our trip towards Mudgee. It gets cold out there at night, around -1 degrees.
We drove towards the west to Wellington and Stuart Town, Mumbil, Dam Arthur and finished the day in Dubbo.
We were astonished by NSW untouched nature and beautiful wildlife.
Day 4
We started the day with a little trip outside of Dubbo’s bushalnds.
We then strolled around the city of Dubbo and visited the beautiful Botanic Graden of Dubbo. The Gardner’s put so much work into maintain this beautiful spot. Well done.
We started the trip home towards Sydney past Wellington, Mudgee and Portland.
We drove past the Mt Piper Power station and informed us about the tours.
We continued towards Sydney.
We hereby want to thank all owners for all the work you have done in maintaining the caches. You have showed us many beautiful and also many hidden spots which we wouldn’t have found without the caches.

Sad to see these rail lines that weren't completed and therefore not used. TFTC Very slippery today after overnight rain with Weebindi and TBS.
Excellent cache! Thank goodness I decided to take the long way around as grass was fairly long.

Thanks very much!

There was no problem finding this cache but there might be an awfully long wait for the next train. The cache should certainly be safe from muggles. Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for cachers to have the fun of finding.

Pretty dangerous where we pulled over to have a look. Our baby girl did a massive poo well we were looking for the cache. Changing nappies in the heat don't go well together.
Enjoyed this one. I like caches which take you to an interesting location you'd have not otherwise noticed, not just another random bush! Quick find while stretching the legs on route from Wello to Mudgee. TFTC.
Fortunately the weather had not yet heated up so the incline was not too difficult to find this cache. We were surprised how many cars passed this spot so stealth was required. TFTC, alex.
Off for a weekend drive with Just a cacher and no particular destination in mind so we decided to grab a cache or two on the way.
We made a quick find here today and took in the view from GZ.
Thanks for the cache alex.

Calypso62 & I were on way home to Sydney. This was one of several caches found on the way. C62 had found it on a previously trip. The embankments were last worked on during the depression of the 1930's. The idea was to provide a direct railway line from Dubbo to the Port of Newcastle. Work then stopped never to return to this section between Gulgong & Maryvale (The section between Sandy Hollow & Gulgong was completed in the late 1980's due mainly to the huge coal mine at Ulan). Track was never laid & trains never ran on this section. Some bridges were partly constructed & a tunnel never completed. If waiting for a train, it might be a very long wait. SL TFTC

After having a really slack month only found two so far this month, Decided a little road trip was in order to rectify the situation. So rumbled down te thin black line early morning heading down to the Big Smoke and then West to Lithgow, Mudgee, Gulgong, Wellington, Orange then Bathurst heading home. Nice Cache, Thanks for the Adventure
Thanks for the great cache alex(8D)
All around the water tank, waiting for a train
A thousand miles away from home, sleeping in the rain
I walked up to a brakeman just to give him a line of talk
He said "If you got money, boy, I'll see that you don't walk
I haven't got a nickel, not a penny can I show
"Get off, get off, you railroad bum" and slammed the boxcar door
He put me off in Texas, a state I dearly love
The wide open spaces all around me, the moon and the stars up above
Nobody seems to want me, or lend me a helping hand
I'm on my way from Frisco, going back to Dixieland
My pocket book is empty and my heart is full of pain
I'm a thousand miles away from home just waiting for a train

He put me off in Texas, a state I dearly love
The wide open spaces all around me, the moon and the stars up above
Nobody seems to want me, or lend me a helping hand
I'm on my way from Frisco, going back to Dixieland
My pocket book is empty and my heart is full of pain
I'm a thousand miles away from home just waiting for a train

Council workers busy here today on my way through so I wasn't able to stop and snatch the stash. Maybe next time.
