Dad was an absolute trooper getting down for a close look under the bridge. Soggy feet! Unfortunately not found today, but what a memory for me and the boys haha!
I’ve had my eye in this one for a long time. With the weather a little damp today decided a walk in the trees would be a good idea. Got to GZ easily enough. Spotted the likely access spot. Took it quietly but ended up on my posterior!! All worth it though as a minute or two later I had the cache.
A great area to walk in all types of weather. Geocaching has brought me here a number of times - not sure if I’d even know about these walking tracks without Geocaching!!
Thanks for bringing me here again. Tftc.
This is my 7th ramble for the Ramblers’s Reward.

A lovely hide in a lovely spot, found on a lovely walk in lovely weather. Oh, how everything is so lovely. Flabbergastingly so.
Found on a great day for a walk through the forest. Its a long way down and back up on a 33 deg day but a good walk anyway. TFTC
Of course with a cache name like that the inevitable was required. After a couple of different approaches I spied it on the other side so after sorting out another couple of obstacles the cache was in hand. The cache and log are in great condition considering the age and location. This would make a lovely spot to sit and ponder for a while but I had other caches to find so left after a short stop at the creek. A very enjoyable walk thanks joppo. TFTC # 13,276
Out and about for a Sunday drive with BCD. Headed out to Mosgiel so a quick detour up here for this one. Followed some other people to GZ and was pretty sure they were there for the same thing we were but didn't look like it in the end. Cache located and signed and off we go again. No accidents here today!!! TFTC
Down in dunnas for the weekend "caching up" with kjr.
Out for a Sunday drive , short walk to get the only on left on the track managed to retrieve without getting wet feet or dropping my phone ,as K stood guard insisting the muggles we had passed were geocachers.... They weren't!!

Thanks for the note. It is still in place, but it was rather overgrown. The track doesn’ get much use now after the DCC removed the bridge further up the stream. I removed the broom to make it easier to get to the cache. A small torch would be handy to help spot it.
beautiful hike. well worth the walk for a cache! bringing the 2 trackables back to USA with me to send them further on their journey
Thanks out for a walk with my youngest son picked up one trackable left other two. Now away to buy school books and uniform.
Family expedition to get my 300th cache. Lovely to have my Cuzzy Silver Penny with me. left 3 TB for my 300 finds
I’ve wanted to find this one for ages but there has never been the right moment. Until now! Trail interesting, not too steep, and not as far as expected. Cache right where a troll would be, but as the bridge is rather overgrown it did involve some bush bashing.
Checked out the cache after all the rain we've had. A bit damp inside and in need of a little maintenance. Will clean it up and get it back in place soon
in the area with Gadget today, knocking off a few we had left over. Took a bit of searching, Gadget soon had it. TFTC
What a walk into this one. Very hot today and I should have brought some water. The cache was not where Sirbennis and I thought it would have been and took a bit to find but got there in the end. Great location for this one. TFTC
I had a lovely walk down to the GZ and loved the search for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Has been a favourite place of mine for years, so it is cool it has a cache.

BTW - team hawkvshondy is spilt between 2 towns during the week - hence finds recorded in Dunedin and Timaru and places in between.

Didn't have time to get this on our last visit, so its time had come. Followed Daywalk's advice and crossed the bridge. What a beautiful little track.
A pleasant walk to get to this cache. With all the evidence of the recent flooding I was expecting it to have been washed away. What a pleasant surprise to find it in place and in excellent condition.
Travel Bug Dog Tag, 4.82 visiting. The flow measuring wheel is completely silted up now, I remember the time when you would see it turning in a big flow like today.
While the bridge across Flagstaff Creek is officially closed, it is still there and holes have been cut in the plastic netting where people continue to use it. The damage appears to be a tree branch fallen onto the bridge, breaking both handrails, but we found it safe to cross (one at a time) . You have to climb oveer the barrier - but watch out for a nail protruding through - don't get snagged on it.

This was my second visit to this area after been defeated by the closed bridge last time and not been able to get up the bank while trying to cross the stream, but all good today with a difference route taken.
Well, it may have not been the most ideal day to attempt this cache, especially since Three Mile Hill Rd was closed until just now, but there I was in the area, with the perfect length of time for a walk, so why not! A car even slowed down as I was getting ready to cross the road, full of determination, and commented on it being 'nippy out there'... As if I did not know! I was out there, not in the warm car! I did feel like jumping back in and blasting the heat up to defrost, and wishing I brought some gloves. There was some snow still on the ground, and I proceeded very gingerly, remembering that the last time I stood on a significant amount if snow, it ended badly for my ankle It looked so amazing though, even the huge gorse bushes looked like Christmas trees! Got to gz pretty soon, and I wasn't even cold by then, but knocked on the wrong house first Correct door to knock on soon sorted, and there I was, hanging on for dear life, standing up to the ankle in rushing water with one foot, and on a very unstable piece of wood with the other, reaching into the depths, getting myself nice and muddy all over, while contemplating the beauty of life and silliness cachers go through for a T1.5 cache! Cool adventure for today, TFTC!!

Great wee walk and a nice spot for a picnic lunch before the march back up. TFTC
TFTC, always been going to get aroundtoit for this walk and today we did. well worth the uphill return.
TFTC. What an amazing trail! I felt as though I was in a Hobbit/Jurassic Park Hybrid movie!!
The GPS put GZ out a bit, but with help from the clue I had the cache in hand in next to no time!!

Found with jrb5050 while walking basil the totally useless cache sniffer dog, Really nice walk thanks for bringing us to this nice spot TFTC
I'd read the clue, but should have paid more attention to PC Sniff who was saying we weren't yet close as I clambered under the "CLOSED AND DANGEROUS" bridge to search for a cache that wasn't anywhere near where I was looking.
When I did listen to PC Sniff's directions, and clambered under a much smaller bridge, we found the cache. Tiny space to stand because there was so much water running, and pretty slippery so given our difference in heights it was probably a good idea that he stood on top and gave me directions while I hunted. Absolutely lovely spot. Thanks for placing this cache to encourage us to take a walk. Delightful!

As happens with geocaching - going to places you never knew about before. A lovely wander in, track in good condition with no mud despite all the recent rain. After grabbing this one, it was onto D for Douglas Fir. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
It was nice to stretch the legs after all the rain. We wondered if the cache would be dry or even still there with all the rain and flooding recently and we can confirm that all is still good with this one. We thought we might have had to get wet feet but debsnz seemed to know what she was doing and we came away with the smiley. Took TB. Found with debsnz
Plan A across the forest didn't work, but then found the right track & enjoyed the walk, took abit of time to locate the object. TFTC
Number 500. Great wee walk, the bridge across the creek is defiantly closed with a high fence across both ends and no easy way to cross the creek on foot. Made a longer walk to get to D for Douglas Fir but worth the walk. The Geocoin pictures has been with me from 250 to this my 500th Geocache, covering 2175 miles in the process since 28th January 2013.
Found our very first cache. Loved it. What a great way to spend mothers day.
we were naughty here, even though bridge was out, we crossed it, spectacular place and great walk through forest TNLNSL
Like many before me I took the first available path, which was a logging track, and ended up climbing over and under fallen trees and for the last 10 metres just hoping I was walking on something solid. A 2 metre scramble down a cliff and I was at the location.
I used the correct track on the way up and it was a doddle by comparison.
I had to pause halfway through searching as a man and his dog appeared, who would have guessed I would be nearly muggled here!
Remember - look for a walking track!

Finally getting around to logging... On the way back home from the MEGA. Paths? Meh! The GPS says this way... All good except for the last few metres (horizontally). Banks/Blackberry/Fallen trees.... At least I could wash off some of the blood with the water. Threw the cache up the hill for Kiwi Nomad, who didn't want to brave the last bit. Thankfully I found a slightly easier way back up. Thanks.
On the way back north from Mega with Kiwi Legend. Did a Moneydork at this cache and followed KL who was following the needle on his GPS. All was fine until the last 10m where he made it down but I stayed at the top of the bank where he threw the cache up to me to sign the log. I'm sure the train rating matches that for the normal way in but that would have taken longer and not been any where near as fun or memorable.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
197m the GPSr said. *SIGH*. If only one could get cache "as the crow flies".
I made one wrong turn to get to this one - but then I found the right way in. I picked my way down toward to GZ. I must say - I think this one might be a bit more of a 2.5 terrain. No getting a pram into there!
I finally got to a very wet GZ. After 10 minutes of contorting myself, I soon found the well-hidden beast. It was in good condition. A very nice little walk. TFTC joppo

4735. A cache on a geocaching day at the Mega Event. Took the quick way down but the slower and easier way back up. A nice hide in an area that would be very nice in fine weather. Thanks, Rodney and Iris.
It took us a little bit to figure out which track we should be on but got there in the end. A nice spot.

We were in Dunedin for the NZ Mega event and we were out and about finding caches in the company of Funkymunkyzone and IndianaJill. We arrived at the parking spot at the same time as FuzzyNZ so we headed towards GZ in a group. The only problem was we did not read the description and just followed the arrow. On the way down the hill came across large logs, blackberry and steep banks so what should have been an easy stroll ended up being a terrain 4 approach [:0] Once we finally got to GZ the cache was soon found. TFTC and note to self....read the description first
Found with our little caching group on the way into town. Certainly on the extreme side of T1.5 TFTC!!!

Warmed by the Meet & Greet at the Mega, we enjoyed a leisurely days caching with Squalid. We checked out the remaining infrastructure of a bygone era before commencing the uphill section of an interesting walk.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt joppo.

loved the bridge. a long trek for small legs again. I was very tired by the time we got back to the car!
Should have read the last log before attempting to head straight down the hill with Rosmar & Indiana Jill ! TFTC.
We somehow took the long way to get to this cache, but it was a beautiful walk - we just loved the bush. The waterwheel layout and device were interesting too. Thanks for the cache.
Ahh, yes. This one. I started off down the track and then somehow decided the track was going way the wrong way, so hit onto another track.. ish. Then bee lined for the cache. Easy at first due to some fresh felling, but at the cache there is a 2m vertical cliff, mostly lined with blackberry. Took a lot of enthusiasm to climb down. But at least there is a cool stream to bathe my many scratches. After all that I was not going to give up on this cache! Actually found it easily, in the obvious spot (just a case of working out which one)
A really nice area!! Found the cache easily enough and played pooh sticks under the bridges (although the sticks needed rescuing a couple of times)
Found at 4:25 PM on 6/09/2012.
A nice walk after work on a pleasant spring afternoon. Managed to grab the cache without too much fuss. A nice walk in the woods on the way back to the car.

'Thankfully', much of the overhead vegetation just downstream has been removed - better GPS/satellite reception. TNLN. HOTA
Didn't know about this track, and throroughly enjoyed the walk on a hot autumn day (it was 27ºC when we were there). Was neat to see the wheel and race too.
No luck finding the cache however. Hunted around GZ for 30 minutes. Didn't want to get wet so used cellphone camera to peer under/into likely troll houses, without success.
Look forward to returning in future.

A very nice early evening stroll, I'd been past this entrance to the logging area heaps but failed to spot the track.
Even had a cache in the carpark area. I blame that bendy road.
A few windfall trees but that's to be expected, an excellant bit of exercise.
Box of tricks was spot on and the cache was in good nick.

The logging appears to be all finished so I've enabled the cache again. The track down is a litle overgrown at the moment because it hasn't had too much use, but it is fine.
Forest is being logged around the cache site. I will re-enable the cache when work is finished and the track restored
Name gives it away. Missed the walking track and went bush. Makes terrain rating about 4.5. nice walk out though:)
Neat place! Wouldnt have otherwise known about this lovely walk to a great site. Kids sad to say goodbye to our friend Krtek , but in agreement this is a good place for him. +TB, +maze, -stickle ball. TFTC
Went equipped with water wings for this one as I had been warned about others misfortune. After a nice forest walk I was able to sign the log without incident.
Thanks

A great cache involving, a place I hadn't been, a nice walk, something to look at upon arrival, a hide with a bit of a challange but not so much that it is frustrating. TFTC.
Took some finding but eventualy found it. Track all repaired and looking great.
Not quite a DNF because I could actually see it !!! However I wasn't tempted by the water temperature [it was snowing!] so I'll come back with more appropriate footware [or higher temperatures...] I couldn't persuade either of my kids or wife to try it either...
Note that a very large tree has fallen over the path within about 20m or so of the cache. It's not very buggy friendly at the moment but it can be crossed by adventurous 8 and 9 year-olds... [plus parents]
I'll be back

1430hrs A bit wet getting to the cache - only a little. Took pic of water wheel, whats the history. The Italian Job was here......! Our blog www.motorhominginxs.blogspot.com
We carried on to this one from "D for Douglas Fir" so came to the cache from a different path - this, coupled with the fact that we lost all reception, meant that we spent a good deal of time searching under the wrong troll house! One of our intrepid members was determined not to go back to work and admit to joppo that he had failed to find, so insisted on staying long after everyone else was over it.. Luckily we decided to carry on and see the water wheel and race, so quickly found the right spot and the cache. Phew, honour restored.
Nice walk down to this one quick find TFTC some good history around on this one never knew it existed big ups to Geo Caching and the people who lay these treasures for people like me to visit
What a great spot! Yet another location I would never have visited if it wasn't for Geocaching. Loved the walking tracks as well. Easy enough find on a wonderful sunny day with the kids, Took a toy car and sunglasses, left a fun ruler and heart. TFTC!
A nice down hill walk from the suggested car park to cache site. A bit of a scramble to grab the trolls lunch tin and sign the log. A bit of a grunt climbing back up the hill. Would suggest that car could be parked at other forest entrance about 400m back towards Mosgiel would shorten the trip. TFTC
Stopped by to check the cache while wandering in the forest looking for other caches. Picked up the Tasmanian Devil travel bug to get him moving again.
